  • Change MS Patch custom language

    - by nelusan
    How can I change the default UI language when installing a patch/update? The problem is that the patch takes the initial language in which the setup to be patched was installed and not the current system language (defined in Reginal Settings/Advanced Options). I wonder if there is a property or switch that I can pass to a msp file to change its UI language. Example: I created 'setup_v00.exe' (english and french) and a patch 'update_v00_v01.exe' (english and french); with system language = english, 'setup_v00.exe' installs in english; change system language in french; with system language = french, 'update_v00_v01.exe' still installs in english but I want it to install with a french interface;

  • Implementing Qt File Dialog with a Different File System Library (boost)

    - by knight
Hi, I am writing an application which requires me to use another file system and file engine handlers and not the qt's default ones. Basically what I want to be able to do is to use qt's file dialog but have an underlying file system handler (for example built using boost file system library) of mine handling all the operations with regards to file and directory operations within that dialog. I have already written a custom file engine which handles some of the operations but I am now stuck with Qt's file system model and the file system watcher engine, as I need to have the signals transmitted for this custom file engine. Seems like I have a daunting task ahead. Am I heading in the right direction? Is there any other simpler way that I could implement this? Can anyone give me any idea on how to proceed. I was thinking of looking into proxy models but not sure if that would work. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Visual Studio 2008 Macro for Building does not block thread

    - by Climber104
Hello, I am trying to write a macro for Building my application, kicking off an external tool, and ataching the debugger to that external tool. Everything is working except for the building. It builds, but it is not blocking the thread so the external tool gets kicked off before it can finish. Is there a way I can run ExecuteCommand and wait for the thread to finish? Code is below: DTE.ExecuteCommand("ClassViewContextMenus.ClassViewProject.Build") DTE.ExecuteCommand("Tools.ExternalCommand11") Try Dim dbg2 As EnvDTE80.Debugger2 = DTE.Debugger Dim trans As EnvDTE80.Transport = dbg2.Transports.Item("Default") Dim dbgeng(1) As EnvDTE80.Engine dbgeng(0) = trans.Engines.Item("Managed") Dim proc2 As EnvDTE80.Process2 = dbg2.GetProcesses(trans, "MINIPC").Item("_nStep.exe") proc2.Attach2(dbgeng) Catch ex As System.Exception MsgBox(ex.Message) End Try

  • fprintf() within a subprogram

    - by sergio
Im stuck when trying to write to my file within my subprogram. void new_page(float *a, float *b, float *c, int *d){ fprintf(results,"\nPage Totals: %f\t%f\t%f\t%d", *a,*b,*c,*d); } I get a warning saying "Warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function 'fprinf' [enabled by default]" "error: 'results' undeclared (first use in this function)" in main fprintf works fine, its just when it comes to the subprogram/function it wont work. from my understanding it thinks that results is undeclared, so do i have to pass the name or location of the file to make it work?

  • Should I create protected constructor for my singleton classes?

    - by Vijay Shanker
By design, in Singleton pattern the constructor should be marked private and provide a creational method retuning the private static member of the same type instance. I have created my singleton classes like this only. public class SingletonPattern {// singleton class private static SingletonPattern pattern = new SingletonPattern(); private SingletonPattern() { } public static SingletonPattern getInstance() { return pattern; } } Now, I have got to extend a singleton class to add new behaviors. But the private constructor is not letting be define the child class. I was thinking to change the default constructor to protected constructor for the singleton base class. What can be problems, if I define my constructors to be protected? Looking for expert views....

  • Which features do html form elements miss

    - by Bakhtiyor
I just wondered and wanted to gather together in one place all missing features of our beloved html form elements. One example could be missing of horizontal scrollbar in a listbox. But I am sure there are a lot of features we would like to see in our form elements by default. I order to be clear let's only take into account HTML4, because with HTML5 there are a lot of things haven't been finished yet. One missing feature per answer please. Thank you.

  • MySQL: filling empty fields with zeroes when using GROUP BY

    - by SaltLake
    I've got MySQL table CREATE TABLE cms_webstat ( ID int NOT NULL auto_increment PRIMARY KEY, TIMESTAMP_X timestamp DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, # ... some other fields ... ) which contains statistics about site visitors. For getting visits per hour I use SELECT hour(TIMESTAMP_X) as HOUR , count(*) AS HOUR_STAT FROM cms_webstat GROUP BY HOUR ORDER BY HOUR DESC which gives me | HOUR | HOUR_STAT | | 24 | 15 | | 23 | 12 | | 22 | 9 | | 20 | 3 | | 18 | 2 | | 15 | 1 | | 12 | 3 | | 9 | 1 | | 3 | 5 | | 2 | 7 | | 1 | 9 | | 0 | 12 | And I'd like to get following: | HOUR | HOUR_STAT | | 24 | 15 | | 23 | 12 | | 22 | 9 | | 21 | 0 | | 20 | 3 | | 19 | 0 | | 18 | 2 | | 17 | 0 | | 16 | 0 | | 15 | 1 | | 14 | 0 | | 13 | 0 | | 12 | 3 | | 11 | 0 | | 10 | 0 | | 9 | 1 | | 8 | 0 | | 7 | 0 | | 6 | 0 | | 5 | 0 | | 4 | 0 | | 3 | 5 | | 2 | 7 | | 1 | 9 | | 0 | 12 | How should I modify the query to get such result? Thanks.

  • WPF MenuItem Content "Name"...

    - by Kyle
Hi, I have a LOT of MenuItem(s), and I want to be able to change their "Content" so that it displays in the program. When I load up the program, their "Content Name" is set in a Setter I created.. but the only problem is that I have almost a hundred MenuItem objects, and I need their display names in the program to be different (not the setter's default). I could just create over 100 different "Setter"'s and change one line in them.. but that is very time consuming. Is there a simpler approach? I want to be able to do this in the XAML where I am declaring them. Is there a way to do this? I've been searching and trying different attempts, but nothing so far.. perhaps someone knows? Thanks

  • XCode won't open: "Mac OS X platform is missing"

    - by Jan Hettich
XCode won't open. I had it running fine a couple of weeks ago. Now I get the following error message when XCode tries to open: Internal Error File: /SourceCache/DevToolsBase/.../XCPlatformSpecification.m Line: 438 Object: <XCPlatformSp(ecification> Method: loadAllPlatforms The Mac OS X platform is missing - cannot set a default platform. Any idea what caused this or how I can recover? Changes I have made to my system (Snow Leopard) in the last couple of weeks include (a) allowing Software Update to run and (b) installing Eclipse IDE. But the problem may or may not be related to these changes.

  • Analyzing Python Code: Modulus Operator

    - by Bhubhu Hbuhdbus
I was looking at some code in Python (I know nothing about Python) and I came across this portion: def do_req(body): global host, req data = "" s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) s.connect((host, 80)) s.sendall(req % (len(body), body)) tmpdata = s.recv(8192) while len(tmpdata) > 0: data += tmpdata tmpdata = s.recv(8192) s.close() return data This is then called later on with body of huge size, as in over 500,000 bytes. This is sent to an Apache server that has the max request size on the default 8190 bytes. My question is what is happening at the "s.sendall()" part? Obviously the entire body cannot be sent at once and I'm guessing it is reduced by way of the modulus operator. I don't know how it works in Python, though. Can anyone explain? Thanks.

  • How can I change what happens when "enter" key is pressed on a DataGridView?

    - by SO give me back my rep
when I am editing a cell and press enter the next row is automatically selected, I want to stay with the current row... I want to happen nothing except the EndEdit. I have this: private void dtgProductos_CellEndEdit(object sender, DataGridViewCellEventArgs e) { dtgProductos[e.ColumnIndex, e.RowIndex].Selected = true; //this line is not working var index = dtgProductos.SelectedRows[0].Cells.IndexOf(dtgProductos.SelectedRows[0].Cells[e.ColumnIndex]); switch (index) { case 2: { dtgProductos.SelectedRows[0].Cells[4].Selected = true; dtgProductos.BeginEdit(true); } break; case 4: { dtgProductos.SelectedRows[0].Cells[5].Selected = true; dtgProductos.BeginEdit(true); } break; case 5: { btnAddProduct.Focus(); } break; default: break; } } so when I edit a row that is not the last one I get this error: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.

  • How can I enforce Eclipse to use Sun Java?

    - by Dan
Hi Before installing Eclipse I had Open JDK on default. Now I changed it to Sun Java. I did as Eclipse Helios was running really slow, unfortunately it is still... Do you have any ideas how to enforce it to use Java Sun? I could reinstal it however I have already Android SDK installed so I would have to do all the process again, after all thats not the correct way of solving problem I think. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10. java -version java version "1.6.0_22" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build1.6.0_22-b04) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.1-b03, mixed mode) Would be grateful for any help. • IE7 Times Out Debugging ASP.Net Page

    - by Eric J.
My issue is similar to ASP.NET Debugging Timing out with IIS except that I'm using the built-in ASP.Net Development Server with VS 2010. If I pause for more than about 10 seconds in the debugger, IE7 "disconnects" from the web server with the error message Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage However, unlike in the similar question, the debugger is still running. If I refresh the browser it will post that refresh to the server and I can debug the page from the top again. Is it possible to configure things so that IE7 waits (much) longer before giving up? If it makes a difference, I'm launching IE using the "Start external program" option and passing a localhost URL as the command line argument (since Chrome is my default browser). I also specify a specific port.

  • File Explorer using Java - how to go about it?

    - by user299988
Hi, I am set to create a file explorer using Java. The aim is to emulate the behavior of the default explorer as closely as possible, whatever may be the underlying OS. I have done NO GUI programming in Java. I have looked-up Swing, SWT and JFace, and I am beginning my project with this tutorial: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-ecgui1/ I would like to know your opinions about the best approach to tackle this problem. If you could comment on complexity of coding, portability and OS-independence, and efficiency, it would be great. Is there anything else I should know? Do some other ways exist? Thanks a lot!

  • any way to get sharepoint groups with a given site url

    - by standley-nguyen
Hi all. I'm getting a stuck. Suppose that I create 5 sites. For each one, I create a few sharepoint groups. So, I create a dropdownlist control to bind 5 sites and when I click on any site there, I will get sharepoint groups created on it. But I always see the dropdownlist used to bind these groups still never change. I mean it only binds a few default groups in sahrepoint everytime. The new created groups is not. And I have confusion like this web.AssociatedGroups web.Groups web.SiteGroups which one we will use this case ? Please guide me Here my snippet code private void BindSPGroupsToDropDownList(DropDownList ddl, string siteUrl) { ddl.Items.Clear(); try { SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate() { using (SPSite site = new SPSite(siteUrl)) { using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb()) { //web.SiteGroups foreach (SPGroup spGroup in web.Groups) { ddl.Items.Add(new ListItem(spGroup.Name.Trim(), spGroup.ID.ToString())); } } } }); } } thanks in advance

  • What's the standard behaviour for an out parameter when a TryXxxx method returns false?

    - by Matt Lacey
Assuming a method with the following signature bool TryXxxx(object something, out int toReturn) What is it acceptable for toReturn to be if TryXxxx returns false? In that it's infered that toReturn should never be used if TryXxxx fails does it matter? If toReturn was a nulable type, then it would make sense to return null. But int isn't nullable and I don't want to have to force it to be. If toReturn is always a certain value if TryXxxx fails we risk having the position where 2 values could be considered to indicate the same thing. I can see this leading to potential possible confusion if the 'default' value was returned as a valid response (when TryXxxx returns true). From an implementation point if view it looks like having toReturn be a[ny] value is easiest, but is there anything more important to consider?

  • Why does my program occasionally segfault when out of memory rather than throwing std::bad_alloc?

    - by Bradford Larsen
I have a program that implements several heuristic search algorithms and several domains, designed to experimentally evaluate the various algorithms. The program is written in C++, built using the GNU toolchain, and run on a 64-bit Ubuntu system. When I run my experiments, I use bash's ulimit command to limit the amount of virtual memory the process can use, so that my test system does not start swapping. Certain algorithm/test instance combinations hit the memory limit I have defined. Most of the time, the program throws an std::bad_alloc exception, which is printed by the default handler, at which point the program terminates. Occasionally, rather than this happening, the program simply segfaults. Why does my program occasionally segfault when out of memory, rather than reporting an unhandled std::bad_alloc and terminating?

  • ASP.NET MVC v1 project upgraded to VS 2010 no longer will debug. Why?

    - by Todd Brooks
I'm getting the message "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document." I have a S#arp Architecture project (ASP.NET MVC v1) that has been opened and upgraded to be used in VS 2010. I can no longer debug the project. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. I have IE set to be my default browser. I have the build set to debug. System.Web.Mvc is referenced in my project's lib dir. I've cleaned the solution. I've recompiled the solution. It's set to use .NET Framework 3.5. PDBs are being created and dropped into the bin directory with the DLLs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Do you put a super() call a the beginning of your constructors?

    - by sleske
This is a question about coding style and recommended practices: As explained in the answers to the question unnecessary to put super() in constructor?, if you write a constructor for a class that is supposed to use the default (no-arg) constructor from the superclass, you may call super() at the beginning of your constructor: public MyClass(int parm){ super(); // leaving this out makes no difference // do stuff... } but you can also omit the call; the compiler will in both cases act as if the super() call were there. So then, do you put the call into your constructors or not? On the one hand, one might argue that including the super() makes things more explicit. OTOH, I always dislike writing redundant code, so personally I tend to leave it out; I do however regularly see it in code from others. What are your experiences? Did you have problems with one or the other approach? Do you have coding guidelines which prescribe one approach?

  • Android views' borders issue on some devices

    - by htafoya
Hi there, Some users have been reporting border alignment issues on some android components such as the alert popup or the editTexts. This is happening on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo (200x400) and the HTC Pro Touch (480x640) devices. I cannot replicate that because i don't own those devices and in the Samsung Galaxy S and emulator everything looks just right. I think that the problem is the dpi or resolution of the device (because the edittext background is a single .9.png so image should look ok); however I am not sure if the supports-screens tag is the solution. Also, application was developed using Api 3 (v1.5) and supports-screens was not yet supported, nor the screen-size resource qualifier. The style used for the alerts and editText is the phone default. Could the problem be something related with the theme applied to the phone by the user? Thanks in advance!, I show some images given to me showing the problem: //EDIT: I can't post images because i am new; i will put a link: borders issue link img

  • Popuplating an NSPopupButton with the contents of two NSArrayControllers

    - by ndg
I'm looking to populate an NSPopupButton with the contents of two NSArrayControllers. The NSArrayControllers are both bound to my Core Data Managed Object Context and represent separate entities (in this example: Person and Department). Within my NSPopupButton, I would like a list of departments, and the people that work under them. Like so: Department 1 Person 1 Person 2 Department 2 Person 3 Person 4 All departments would need to be disabled by default, meaning that users should only be able to select people listed within the dropdown. I'm lost as to how I would go about doing something like this. The concept of manually populating an NSPopupButton seems fairly trivial, but I'm a bit shaky as to best to populate the element with Core Data objects. Essentially, I'm just looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I imagine there's a right way to do this, and a number of very wrong ways.

  • zend_acl: Adding extra resources dynamically and getting a param predispatch

    - by Timmeh
First sorry about the woffle as I'm not sure how best to describe this. Basically I am not sure how I can get param in the bootstrap before the controller is loaded, but here is the long winded version... I have got an acl class storing all my default resources in. All my page/post content is a database and I want the admin the ability to choose who which role the page would become available. I know it is possible just to loop through the database table and add them all in at once, but I am concerned that this is a drain on resources. I have it working whereby my access check plugin can call a dynamic permission function, but I need to get the parameter of the current page ID and it's permission to set it before the controller is loaded. Does that make sense or am I worry over nothing and I should just get the resources of all the pages at once? thanks in advance for reading my garble!!

  • url rewriting + Asp.Net Login Form = Death

    - by xor88
Hi, on our site we do url rewriting to generate massive amounts of database generated pages. on every page, there is a Login control for users. like this: Internal aspx page: /DB.aspx?id=123 User visible url: /ABC/123.aspx, /ABC/456.aspx ... (url rewritten) unfortunately, the tag on each page has an action attribute of "DB.aspx?id=123". when the user clicks the button the browser is posting to /ABC/DB.aspx?id=123 which of course does not exist. solutions i tried: 1. change the action attribute by subclassing HtmlForm. this destroys the all other forms on the site. 2. remove the action attribute (so that the browser is always posting to the same url). this works on the rewritten pages but on "/" (the default.aspx in the root dir) i get a message that the verb post is not allowed on "/" (iis 6 and i have no control over mappings) anybody?

  • Why is the Twitter Bootstrap "fixed" layout NOT fixed?

    - by leonel
The Twitter Bootstrap site reads as follows: The default and simple 940px-wide, centered layout for just about any website or page provided by a single <div class="container">. Quote from http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/scaffolding.html#layouts That's exactly what I have in my HTML but when I inspect the element, I see this CSS apply to it: .container, .navbar-fixed-top .container, .navbar-fixed-bottom .container { width: 1170px; } By the way, if I override that CSS rule by adding... div.container{ width:940px; } Then the elements inside the div.container are wider than the div.container itself and look out of place. So, why is the Twitter Bootstrap "fixed" layout NOT fixed? and how can I make it fixed?

  • Where should I store user config data? Specificaly the path to the data file?

    - by jamone
I have an app using a SQLite db, and I need the ability for the user to move the data file and point the app to where it moved to. I used the Entity Framework to create the model, and by default it puts the connection string in the App.Config file. From what I've read if I make changes to the connection string there then they won't take effect until the app is restarted. That seems a bit clunky for my use. I see how I can init my model and pass in a custom string but I'm unsure what the best practice is in where to store basic user prefrences such as this? Ini, Registry, somewhere else? I don't want the user to have to "Open" the file each time, just when it relocates and then the app will try to auto open from then on.
