• Approach for altering Primary Key from GUID to BigInt in SQL Server related tables

  I have two tables with 10-20 million rows that have GUID primary keys and at leat 12 tables related via foreign key. The base tables have 10-20 indexes each. We are moving from GUID to BigInt primary keys. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on an approach. Right now this is the approach I'm pondering: Drop all indexes and fkeys on all the tables involved. Add 'NewPrimaryKey' column to each table Make the key identity on the two base tables Script the data change "update table x, set NewPrimaryKey = y where OldPrimaryKey = z Rename the original primarykey to 'oldprimarykey' Rename the 'NewPrimaryKey' column 'PrimaryKey' Script back all the indexes and fkeys Does this seem like a good approach? Does anyone know of a tool or script that would help with this? TD: Edited per additional information. • Core Data and BOOL setup

  I am working on an app that uses Core Data as its backend for managing SQLite records. I have everything working with strings and numbers, but have just tried adding BOOL fields and can't seem to get things to work. In the .xcdatamodel, I have added a field to my object called isCurrentlyForSale which is not Optional, not Transient, and not Indexed. The attribute's type is set to Boolean with default value NO. When I created the class files from the data model, the boilerplate code added for this property in the .h header was: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * isCurrentlyForSale; along with the @dynamic isCurrentlyForSale; in the .m implementation file. I've always worked with booleans as simple BOOLs. I've read that I could use NSNumber's numberWithBool and boolValue methods, but this seems like an aweful lot of extra code for something so simple. Can the @property in the header be changed to a simple BOOL? If so is there anything to watch out for? Thanks -John

  Why default factory WON'T return full name of the controllers (with namespaces)? I'm using Service Locator and autofac. using System.Web.Mvc; using Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation; namespace Application.Core.MVC { public override IController CreateController(System.Web.Routing.RequestContext requestContext, string **controllerName**) { return ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IController>(controllerName); } } I had two home controllers (one under area Blog) http://localhost/Home http://localhost/Blog/Home controllerName return only "Home" without full qualified name for both in above code. This creates a problem when I try to regiser controllers' names for dependency injection. Here is how I register controllers right now according to this situation. Even this brings up the pages without exception. • Does importing of packages change visibility of classes?

  I jsut learned that A class may be declared with the modifier public, in which case that class is visible to all classes everywhere. If a class has no modifier (the default, also known as package-private), it is visible only within its own package. This is a clear statement. But this information interfere with my understanding of importing of packages (which easily can be wrong). I thought that importing a package I make classes from the imported package visible to the importing class. So, how does it work? Are public classes visible to all classes everywhere under condition that the package containing the public class is imported? Or there is not such a condition? What about the package-private classes? They are invisible no mater if the containing package was imported or not? ADDED: It seems to me that I got 2 answers which are marked as good (up-voted) and which contradict eachother.

  Hello, I'm writing an application for android and I would like to insert an options menu, that would have only one function and that is to quit an application.   Hi all, Im new to Redmine. I installed redmine(with mysql) on Ubuntu 10.04. The following were the installation steps i did: $ sudo apt-get install redmine redmine-mysql subversion $ ln -s /usr/share/redmine/public /var/www/redmine In /etc/apache2/mods-available/passenger.conf, added a PassengerDefaultUser www-data directive. Configured the /var/www/redmine location in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default: RailsBaseURI /redmine PassengerResolveSymlinksInDocumentRoot on $ sudo a2enmod passenger I then restarted the apache2 server. Thats it. Now i typed http://localhost/redmine/ in my browser and accessed my redmine instance. So from here on, how do i create different users with with different privileges, create different projects, also update the issues and other project management related stuff..... I know this sounds silly, but i couldnt find anythin to proceed....

  Hello, I want to use the google maps hand cursor in Python but I don't know how to do it. I've downloaded the cursor but I only get to use the hand open, I also have a event that "closes" the hand when clicked but I don't know how can I change the style cursor on it. I say this because the google maps hand cursor has two style (the open and the closed hand). If you don't know how to use the other style you can also tell me how can I create another cursor where the close hand is the default style. If I have that, I only change the cursor and it's done.   I've tested NoSQL databases like CouchDB, MongoDB and Cassandra and observed tendence to absorbing very large amount of drive space relative to inserted key-value pairs. When comparing CouchDB and MySQL schemaless databases CouchDB is consuming much more drive space than MySQL. I know about that key-value DBs by default are versioning and have long uuid and need key optimalisation - the comparison was between about 15 mln rows in MySQL and 1-5 mln documents listed NoSQL DB's. My question is : Is there any NoSQL with good compaction / compression of data? So that I can have NoSQL database with a size closer to 5GB than 50GB?

  I am writing a program that is cross platform. There are a few spots where I have to specify an operating system dependent call. #ifdef WINDOWS ..do windows only stuff #endif #ifdef LINUX ..do linux only stuff #endif Are there any preprocesser directives that get defined by the compiler so I don't have to explicitly define them when I use the command line compiler. ie. cl -DWINDOWS program.cpp or g++ -DLINUX program.cpp I realize I could easily write a makefile or have a shell/batch script that will do this automatically. But I would prefer to use the same ones as the compiler (if they exist) by default.

  Hi, I created a google app engine project. I just successfully mapped it to a new domain. The name of my project is "grape". So by default, it is published at http://www.grape.appspot.com. I mapped it to http://www.grape.com, which is terrific. Now I'd like to create a new app engine project, and have it mapped to: http://api.grape.com how do I go about doing this? I think it is possible, I'm just not sure where I would do this mapping? Since I own grape.com, I am hoping I can map a new project to t. • Kohana controller shows blank page if missing URI segment/argument

  When accessing http://www.nowplayingnashville.com/event2/detail/440698386/Whatever the controller shows normally. But when omitting the last parameter (event's title, which can be any string), http://www.nowplayingnashville.com/event2/detail/440698386/ It shows blank. I added a default value and tried to hardcode the title on the first line of the controller, but it doesn't work anyway. It looks like a view issue, because I can add an echo at the end of the controller and it gets printed, so the controller is executing to the end, but the views aren't displayed. This problem is present on the live site, but I checked out the code on my local machine and it works perfectly without a title. That's strange. Could it be a Kohana or Apache configuration issue?

• Can an URL shortener pass parameters?

  Hi, I use bit.ly to shorten my urls. My problem - paramters are not passed. Let me explain I use http://bit.ly/MYiPhoneApps which redirects (let's say) to http://iphone.pp-p.net/default.aspx Now when I try http://bit.ly/MYiPhoneApps?param=xx this param is not added to the resulting url. I know I could create an extra "short url" including a paramter - so http://bit.ly/WithParam would result in http://www.mysite.com/somepath/apage.aspx?Par1=yy and so forth. But what I want is to have a short URL directing to a page - and then I want to add a parameter to this shortened url - which shoul (of course) land at my page. Is this a shortcome of bit.ly (and others are maybe able to do it) - or does "parameter forwarding" not work with 301 redirections? Manfred

  We've been using Trac for a while now for our developers only. However we are now opening it up for our (internal) clients. We have a project listing page (based on the default one that comes with Trac). What we'd like to do, is display more information about the project than what is currently available. I have searched google and here, to see if I can find how to get more information. There seems to be a variable called $project which has .name, .description and .href as attributes. Is there somewhere, a list of the attributes available? Or perhaps a different solution altogether that will allow us to display more information on the project list page. Such as the number of open tickets etc.

• JTable - Getting a cell into Edit mode on pressing Tab

  This is possibly has a trivial solution, but I am at the end of my tether so I hope somebody can help out. I use a JTable which has a custom renderer and a custom editor for a set of columns. The renderer uses a JLabel component and the editor uses a JSpinner component. Our users want to be able to enter values in a column, and then press TAB or ENTER to move to the next editable cell in the table. If I understand correctly, this is the default behaviour for a JTable. However, this doesn't seem to work correctly for me. Until the user clicks on the cell, only the JLabel is displayed. The JSpinner (i.e. CellEditor) is only displayed when a user double clicks on the cell. So, it looks like the cell is going into "edit" mode only on MouseEvents, but not when it has focus. How do I get the cell to go into edit mode as soon as it has focus?

• UIButton custom font vertical alignment

  I've got a UIButton which uses a custom font, which is set when my view loads: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.searchButton.titleLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName: @"FONTNAME" size: 15.0 ]; } The problem I've got is that the font is appearing to float up of the center line. If I comment out this line, the default font appears vertically centered fine. But changing to the custom font breaks the vertical alignment. I'm getting the same issue on a Table Cell with a custom font too. Do I need to tell the view somewhere that the custom font is not as tall as other fonts? EDIT: I've just realized that the font I'm using is a Windows TrueType Font. I can use it fine in TextEdit on the Mac, only a problem with the alignment in my App

  Having an input <input type="text" id="myTest" value="bla bla bla"/> and doing this (using jQuery) $('#myTest').select(); causes "bla bla bla" to be selected with default dark blue selection color. Now, is there any way I can change this color using css? css3 can change selection using for instance ::-moz-selection { background: #ffb7b7; } but this only works on text in other elements, not in html inputs. Any ideas? /T

For this I read that I have to modify the web.config from Central Administration and web.config from my site with the membership and roleManager tags configured properly.   I have multiple comment ids I want to reset to a default value. Ex: <a id="comments_inner_toggle_45">example 1</a> <a id="comments_inner_toggle_608">example 2</a> <a id="comments_inner_toggle_28">example 3</a> ... How can I write the correct tag in jQuery to select every tag with an id of "comments_inner_toggle_" and perform some operation on it? I think it's something similar to: $('a[id|=comments_inner_toggle_]').whatever This is wrong however because the code above will only match the tag with "comments_inner_toggle_" and not with a number appended at the end. How can I fix this? thanks for the help! :)
