• Folder Redirection - Explorer requires manual refresh

  Hello, I am having an issue where - when a users my documents folder is redirected to a DFS share, windows explorer requires a manual refresh after creating a new folder, file, etc. (Interestingly, not when making a new briefcase) I have tried a number of MS knowledge base articles, a hot-fix and a registry change, all with no success. (( http:// support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 ; http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/873392 )) The problem only occurs when going through the my documents icon. If I map a home drive for the user to the exact same location (IE - H:\DFS\user\documents) , open that drive and make new folders, then there is no problem. Mapping my documents to H:\ also resolves the issue, however, as we need folder sync and people logging on off site with cached profiles this is not a workable solution (as H: will not map and there will be no access to their docs.) Has anyone managed to figure a fix for this? Thanks, Pete.

• Realtek audio AC 97 5.1 on Windows 7: Terrible subwoofer quality

  I have a media center PC with on-board Realtek AC97 Audio. I have been using Windows XP for a couple of years with great audio quality. I just upgraded this PC with Windows 7 and installed the latest Realtek drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ At the testing screen, all the speakers works correctly (including subwoofer). Despite that, while playing any movie or music, the subwoofer quality is terrible. From it it just comes noises, in the correct rhythm but quite low and quite out of tone. I compensated the loudness by putting the other speakers lower but the sound of the subwoofer is really terrible. Is there anyone facing the same problem? Does anyone have a workaround for that? PS.: I had gone past the steps given in Terrible noises from subwoofer of ACER Aspire 6930 with Realtek sound chip but still I have a bad quality of sound. • Output Audio via HDMI and Analog Out Simultaneously

  I need to output the system audio from a desktop to both the HDMI output (sending to the display that functions as the room speakers) and via the analog stereo output (to feed the reference input on a microphone array for Skype). The only solution I've found so far for this is an HDMI Audio De-Embedder, but I'd really like to avoid buying another piece of hardware, so I'm hoping there's a way to do this inside software. So: Is there any way to make Windows 7 output all audio over both HDMI and Analog outs, simultaneously?

• Headset - No audio devices are installed

  I've been having problems with my headset and I just cannot seem to figure it how to fix it. When I plug the microphone and headphone jacks into the computer I can hear sound fine. However the microphone does not get recognized. If I go into Sound Recording, it showed the microphone and it said that it was working but nothing was getting picked up. I uninstalled the audio devices and let windows reinstall them but now when I go into Sound Recording, it states "No audio devices are installed" Before I uninstalled the audio driver I made sure to try every combination of audio devices I could - none worked... If you know what I should try next, please let me know. I am getting frustrated. Running windows 7 64 bit

• Vislization Software for Live Audio?

  Currently I have been using WinAmp, with MilkDrop visulization plugins to disply visulizations that go with the music. This works fine for normal music files, but now I am in a situation where I require visulizations for a live audio in feed. Is there currently any software out there that can be used to show visulizations for live audio, or even if nothing good exists, is there anyway to still use WinAmp for live audio ?

• MS Server 2008 R2: DNS Redirection on second server for website

  We have a website on a secondary server that we want this website to be accessible from Internet, with www.mywebsite.com. In the domain name provider of www.mywebsite.com, we set our 2 dns names, dns1.company.ch, dns2.company.ch and our static ip address. System is set as following: MS Server 2008 R2 N°1: Main server, in AD With IP 192.168.1.100 With DNS zone dns1.company.ch With DNS secondary zone from server N°2: dns2.company.ch With DNS secondary zone from server N°2: mywebsite.com (zone transfer is on) MS Server 2008 R2 N°2: Secondary server, not in AD With IP 192.168.1.101 With DNS zone dns2.company.ch With DNS zone mywebsite.com with host: 192.168.1.101 With the website under ISS with bindings www.mywebsite.com:80, mywebsite.com:80 All traffics for ports 80 (http) and 53 (dns) from Internet goes to server N°1. How can we redirect all traffics for www.mywebsite.com from Internet to our secondary server so the corresponding website can be displayed in Internet ? Note: Under DNS of server N°1, we tried to use also a conditional redirector mywebsite.com (192.168.0.101), but it was working only for intranet. Thank you, Alain

• Windows 8.1 unable to play Music or the Audio from videos through Optical Out

  I am having an issue with my audio output, where any music file, and the audio side of videos are not being played through my optical audio output. I am running a Realtek HD Audio device built on Revision 1.0 on a GA-P55A-UD6 Gigabyte Board, which runs through it's optical output to an Astro A40 Mixamp, which does some upscaling before sending it to the headset. Now, notification sounds, and sounds/videos/music played through the browser or programs like Skype or games are working fine. This seems to specifically effect Foobar2000 and Media Player Classic. I have updated these two programs to their latest revisions, in addition to the soundcard drivers to no avail, and searching the error code thrown by Foobar2000: Unrecoverable playback error: The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057) through Google returns not very helpful results, other than the one potentially mentioning DRM. This issue I am having a very hard time resolving, and am wondering if anyone here has experienced similar issues after updating.

• Urgent SSH Local Port Redirection

  Hi, everyone. I have a shell account but the admin has restricted ssh access to the server. The server is listening on 0.0.0.0:22 but the firewall blocks any incoming attempts to this port. He says he is doing maintenance but I don't believe him and I need to backup my stuff with ssh. My question is that: Is it possible to do this: Me (Wan IP) <- Hosting Server (tcp/8080) redirects to Hosting Server (tcp/22) I don't want to involve my own linux machine in this and I can only make use of ssh..   I've been using 'URL snooper' to find the hidden streaming url. And feed that url to VLC to record streaming video/audio. But the VLC can't read those url. Then I also found that the url is like a floating url that changes every several hours. So the same audio station won't have same url. The streaming audio provider has bunches of audio stations and shuffle the link frequently. Is there any way to record the streaming media in this case? Please advise, thanks.

  I'd like to broadcast audio from my Mac desktop to my Palm Pre, as the Pre is more portable and I can use it in the kitchen, or while I'm exercising, and so on. I can already capture the audio using Soundflower, but how might I create an MP3 stream out of the audio input device? For all intents and purposes, Soundflower can reduce this question down to, "How can I create an MP3 stream from the built-in microphone on my Mac?" as the answer can be applied equally well to iTunes output.

  I'm fed up with Vegas, Premiere, Pinnacle, SoundForge and all of the other editors I've tried. I'm trying to modify the audio of an AVI file, but all of the editors I've tried insist on re-encoding the video when I save the changes, and either reduce the quality or take hours. Is there a way to just extract the audio stream from a video with ffmpeg, edit it in an audio editor and then recombine the saved changes with the video?

On WIndows XP I had WMP 9 and I could do that with no problems since I can choose what audio device (which sound card) to use, and that selection is for WMP only, which can be different from Windows' default audio device. But now that I have Windows Vista and WMP 11 I cannot longer choose an audio device just for WMP, or at least I can't find a way to do it (the control in the options dialog is no longer there). Was this useful feature really removed from WMP 11? or there is some other way to do it?

• Create a folder shortcut/redirection in Vista

  Given a plain old directory of files in Windows Vista, say "C:\OldFolder\", is it possible to move the contents of that directory to a new location, perhaps "F:\NewFolder\" and keep a shortcut-like 'virtual' folder at C:\OldFolder that will always redirect access to the updated location. Shortcuts work for users accessing through the GUI to some extent, but all application links to the old location won't work anymore even with a shortcut. For example, If MS Word tried to access C:\OldFolder\document.doc I would want Windows to simply rewrite it's request to F:\NewFolder\document.doc... I guess I'm basically looking for Apache's Mod_Rewrite for Windows Vista... any suggestions?

• Server 2008 Print Redirection is failing but only on 16Bit apps

  the main programmer for SoEasyAccounting and we are installing to Server 2008 Standard service pack 1. We install to 2003 with no problems. Important to understand that the print failure only happens in certain circumstances: Note: We use a standard Windows printer selection box to choose the printer Terms used Superbase = a program language that uses ntvdm.exe (Windows process hosting 16 bit apps) Local Printer = printing to a driver loaded onto the Server 2008 Redirect Printer = printing to a automatically established remote printer through an RDP connection Printing Scenarios Server 2008 - 1: Print from notepad to a Redirected Printer = works Server 2008 - 2: Print from Superbase to a Local Printer = works Server 2008 - 3: Print from Superbase to a Redirected Printer = fail Server 2003 - 4: Print from Superbase to a Redirected Printer = works Results The print causes a message in the drivers print queue of Local Downlevel Document, no print though and Superbase recognises that the "Print command failed". Eventvwr has no related issues to the print fail Any help greatly appreciated. So far 2 days spent trying to resolve and here goes my weekend :( unless someone has an idea :) Things I have Tried i. • Folder Redirection won't load on Windows 7 Machine in Windows 2008 R2 Network

  Okay so redirected profiles don't load exactly, but the computer is joined to the network and it won't display any of the users files on their desktop that are in their redirected profile. I know this because we have a Terminal Server and when the user logs in there, her files appear. I checked the users' profile in Active Directory Users and Computers and compared it with a working users profile. When that didn't turn up any differences, I looked at her computer and found that on the Dial-in tab the Network Access Permission wasn't set to Control access through NPS Network Policy like it was on the other machines on the network; so I selected it, ran gpupdate /force on her machine and rebooted. This did not fix the issue. Is there anything else that could be preventing the redirected files on the users desktop from showing up when the user logs in?

• Sony Bravia (KDL-32EX402) audio connection fails

  Hey. I'm having trouble connecting my computers audio to the TV (Sony Bravia KDL-32EX402). I'm using a standard AUX cable (some kind of adapter for L/R to go into the headphone plug on the computer). I'm connecting the other end to the back of the TV, it doesn't actually say "AUDIO IN" but it has to be (is also right below the "HDMI 1 AUDIO IN). When changing to "PC-mode" and setting the audio input to "PC" nothing happens. (but the pictures get's transmitted fine by VGA). I have checked that it's not the PC's headphone port, nor the AUX cable. What to do, what to do ?

  I bought a new sound card because my built in sound card did not function. When I open YouTube, Media Player or anything that can create a sound my computer will hang up and sometimes when I start my computer it will hang when the Windows XP sound will activate. Update: My computer has no audio. It says NO AUDIO DEVICE.
