  • How to customize notches in ggplot boxplot

    I had a question on how to change/customize the upper and lower limit of a notch on a boxplot created by ggplot2. I looked through the function stat_boxplot and found that ggplot calculates the notch limits with the equation median +/- 1.58 * iqr / sqrt(n). However instead of that equation I wanted to change it with my own set of upper and lower notch limits. My data has 4 factors and for each factor I calculated the median and did a bootstrap to get a 95% confidence interval of that median. Thus in the end I would like to change every boxplot to have its own unique notch upper and lower limit. I'm not sure if this is even possible in ggplot and was wondering if people have an idea on how to do this? Thanks again!

  • How do customize the g:sortableColumn?

    Well, I have one column in my list that I need to customize, the thing is grails' own g:sortable doesn't work. For instance, my first column shows employee ids, then my second column, shows the employees full name where full name is a combination of first name and last name. I got it to work, sorting and all, but when I try to place it in a table with g:sortable, the g:sortable just wouldn't work. I'm thinking about passing params around but it's a bit tricky. Any suggestions? I've looked around the internet, and seems like nothing. :\

I need to scale down the display on my monitor like the example below: http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4130/58518806.jpg Normally, this could be done with some adjustments in monitor's OSD, but there is no OSD on my LCD monitor. Is it even possible by software? Thanks. Edit: Graphic Card: Intel G33/G31 express Chipset family It would be good if it's permament but it's not needed. I can change my operating system but currently i use Windows XP.

  • How can I set the time that Windows 7 changes the background in the background slideshow?

    I've set up my Windows 7 background slideshow with a few choice wallpapers and set it to cycle daily, nothing excessive. Glad to see this feature built into Windows now. My problem is that the change happens at 3 in the afternoon, the time when I originally set up the background. I'd like it to switch at night, so I can come in to work each day to a fresh look. Is there a registry entry I can edit to manually set that switch time? Waiting until midnight to set it doesn't count :P

  • LCD monitor reports incorrect maximum resolution

    I have four 20" Planar 2010M LCD monitors with a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 connected to two nVidia video cards (8600 GT and 7600 GS). I'm running Windows Server 2003 x86. Recently, two of the monitors have started mis-reporting their maximum resolution as 1280 x 1024. When this first happened, I used nVidia's Custom Resolutions feature to force the monitors back to 1600 x 1200. Yesterday, however, I upgraded nVidia's video card driver, and ever since, I cannot get the DVI one back to 1600 x 1200. When I add the custom resolution in nVidia's control panel, if I set either the width or the height to even a single pixel more than 1280 x 1024, nothing changes when I click Test (the monitor doesn't even flash black, although after 15 seconds, it flashes black and doesn't change). After adding Does anyone know what the problem is? Is there anything I can do about it?

  • Dual pane file manager for Mac OS X

    Is there a good customizable dual-pane file manager for Mac like Total Commander / Far Manager in Windows, or like Krusader / Midnight Commander in Linux? I used to work on Windows for quite a while and mostly used Far Manager and sometimes Total Commander, then I switched to Ubuntu Linux and used Krusader, now I switched to Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and I'm having a hard time trying to find a good file manager... Many of the existing applications are trying to replace the Finder with "multimedia capabilities nobody cares about in file manager - IMHO" (Path Finder, ForkLift), some of them are almost good dual-pane file managers (couldn't remember examples), but none of them worked for me mostly because of one reason: I couldn't integrate my file/folder comparison utility (Araxis Merge for Mac) with them... The way it worked for me in Windows and Linux is that I was setting the cursor on one file in the left pane, then setting the right-pane cursor on another file in right pane, then I pressed a hotkey that launched Araxis Merge with those to files/folders comparison results. It was very easy to set up in Far Manager (Windows) and Krusader (Linux, actually in Linux I used "Meld" instead of Araxis Merge...) The tool I'm looking for doesn't necessarily has to be free...   • How to configure a Linux kernel based on the modules currently in use?

    Hello, I'm willing to build a minimal kernel with only the needed things for my machine; so I started by compiling the kernel from the ground up, using the default configuration and adding things that I know for sure I have (i.e.: Ethernet card, WiFi card, ...). But there are several other things not so easy to know about (i.e.: the watchdog timer) so I came across AutoKernConf which supposedly detects the hardware of the machine and generates a kernel configuration file with the settings for the found devices. The problem is it contained several settings repeated and even some which I don't have (I'm using a Dell laptop and one of the things it "found" was something of a Toshiba one). So I ended up building a kernel with the configuration that came out of the make allmodconfig command, which is a kernel with most of the things compiled as modules. Booting into that kernel and running lsmod I can see all of the kernel modules in use (the ones really needed) and I would like to know if there is a tool or some way for me to parse that list and convert it to the corresponding kernel configuration file. Or how to map each one with the appropriate options in the kernel so that I can manually set them. Thank you very much for your time.

    I recently started using Firefox as my primary web browser, and I would like to change some of the default keyboard shortcuts, especially the ones used to switch between tabs. Can this be done? I took a peek through the Firefox directory in "Application Support", as well as the application bundle itself, but nothing jumped out. Google searches have also proved fruitless.     It seems my HTC Magic running Android 1.5 (Cupcake) has three home screens I can switch between. I can't find any kind of option to add additional home screens (the "home screen" menu only lets me add Widgets, Shortcuts and Folders or change the Wallpaper). Is there any way I can add more?

  • Windows 7 Taskbar doesn't remember configuration

    Hi all... I have my taskbar on Win7 all customized. I have it at the top of the screen, and i have the address bar, desktop toolbar, and a custom folder toolbar all turned on. I have it set to two rows, and have the taskbar and desktop on one row and the address bar and custom folder on the second row. When i shutdown then restart my computer it remembers that i have the taskbar at the top of the screen, but it does not remember the way i had the various bars organized, and it just makes it a single row with the bars all mushed together on one row. Anyone else had this/know how to fix it? Running Win7 Ultimate x64.

  • Firefox - order of search engines reverts (toolbar)

    When I change the order of the search engines (Toolbar - Manage Search Engines - Move up / down - Ok) it changes the order, until I close and reopen the browser. I can't imagine that's the way it's supposed to work. I want it to stay in the order I select. I have no add-ons installed that have anything to do with search engines, nor that add any toolbars. I am not using a customized theme. Apparently this problem is rare, as Googling [ "manage search engine list" ("order reverts" OR "order changes") ] return 0 results. Firefox 3.6.12; Windows XP Pro SP3.

    Hello, I want to customize the marshalling of dates in JAXB. It's a variant of this already asked question. I would think I would use an XMLAdapter, as this answer questions specifies. But I can't do that exactly, because I'm going the other way around, generating the JAXB beans from an .XSD -- I can't add annotations to the JAXB beans because they are generated code. I've tried calling Marshaller.setAdapter(), but with no luck. final Marshaller marshaller = getJaxbContext().createMarshaller(); marshaller.setSchema(kniSchema); marshaller.setAdapter(new DateAdapter()); ... private static class DateAdapter extends XmlAdapter<String, XMLGregorianCalendar> { @Override public String marshal(XMLGregorianCalendar v) throws Exception { return "hello"; //Just a test to see if it's working } @Override public XMLGregorianCalendar unmarshal(String v) throws Exception { return null; // Don't care about this for now } } Where the relevant part of my generated JAXB bean looks like this: @XmlSchemaType(name = "date") protected XMLGregorianCalendar activeSince; When I do this, what the default date/XMLGregorianCalendar marshalling happens.   • jQuery validation: how to customize trigger and response

    I am new with jQuery. I have a servlet based application which render an HTML form. This form is submitted via a function and the submit button IS NOT submit button in HTML. It's a regular button that calls a javascript function to do the submission. When running the submission function, the servlet also run a function called doCheck() which is in javascript. This doCheck() function can be defined per page basis. if doCheck returns false, then the servlet will stop the submission; else it will submit the form. I want to use jQuery validation to fit the servlet application. Is there a way to customize jQuery validation to be triggered manually (ie. only when doCheck() is executed) but at the same time provides continuous check on the UI (ie. if one type invalid number in date field, it will gives the appropriate msg when onblur event happen)? Is there a way to make jQuery validation return true or false? Thank you.
