    What is the best way to transcode audio and video to show on the web? I need to do it programmatically. I'd like to do something like YouTube or Google Video where users can upload whatever format they want, and I encode it to flv, mp3, and/or mp4. I could do it on our server, but I would rather use an EC2 instance or even a web service. We have a Windows 2008 server.

  • How can I download YouTube videos using .NET code?

    Does anybody know the VB or C# code to programmatically download a video from YouTube? I have gone through all related questions on this site and the only code I have found (which uses the WebClient Class webclient.DownloadFileAsync) returns the text source of the video, but not the Flash video (.flv) file that needs to be downloaded? Do you know any SDK or library which can help? I have also downloaded the GoogleAPI (YouTube DLL) but have not found a way of doing it.

    Hi! Is it possible to get Flash Media Interactive Server working in conjunction with MogileFS? What it boils down to is that I need FMIS to fetch the FLV files from MogileFS over HTTP. As far as I can tell, however, the FMIS can only fetch and stream files from a local store :/ Anyone have experience with this or other ideas? Thanks!

    I want to capture a rtmp stream. The videos are live, different every day and usually i cant tune in because i am busy at work doing something :(. I would like to capture the stream however they use anti capturing techniques (its live and free so i dont understand why). I tried orbit downloader without any luck. The url seems kind of weird (judging by grab++). It has || in it and other urls. What applications can i use to capture this? i am open to using linux

  • Regular expression either/or not matching everything

    I'm trying to parse an HTTP GET request to determine if the url contains any of a number of file types. If it does, I want to capture the entire request. There is something I don't understand about ORing. The following regular expression only captures part of it, and only if .flv is the first int the list of ORd values. (I've obscured the urls with spaces because Stackoverflow limits hyperlinks) regex: GET.?(.flv)|(.mp4)|(.avi).? test text: GET http: // foo.server.com/download/0/37/3000016511/.flv?mt=video/xy match output: GET http: // foo.server.com/download/0/37/3000016511/.flv I don't understand why the .*? at the end of the regex isnt callowing it to capture the entire text. If I get rid of the ORing of file types, then it works.     I would like to send a few videos for my girlfriend, but I would ensure they are playable on her mobile phone. I want to carry out the encoding tasks on my Arch Linux box, because my PC is a low end. I can use only ffmpeg or mencoder or other CLI tool. She can play youtube videos but I don't want to upload such videos to youtube. Are there any presets for specific mobile phones? And when she simply clicks a video direct link will it play directly on the cellphone or should I embed it in a html5 / flash player, like on youtube?

The Problem I'm Having is during the conversion, the ffmpeg process(es) use up so much CPU/Processing Power (near 100%), which slows down the response of my webserver.     What would be the ideal hardware setup for pushing lots of bandwith on a tube site? We have ever-expanding cloud storage where users upload the movies, then we have these web-delivery machines which cache the FLV files on its local harddrives and deliver them to users. Each cache machine can deliver 1200 mbits/s , if it has SAS 8 harddrives. Such a cache machine costs us $550/month for 8x160gb -- so each machine can cache only 160GB at any given time. If we want to cache more then 160gb , we need to add another machine..another $550/month..etc. This is very un-economical so I am wondering if we have any experts here who can figure out a better setup. I've been looking into "gluster FS", but I am not sure if this thing can push a lot of bandwith. Any ideas highly appreciated. Thank you!

    I have uploaded the video into my rails application by using thoughtbot-paperclip then the video is converted into "flv" format by using ffmpeg. For your reference here I specified some of my model sample code: model.rb: has_attached_file :source,:styles => {:thumb => "137x85>" } If i specified :url or :path option it doesn't worked correctly. In my view I played my video by using the following line: <%= @model.source.url.gsub(/\?.*/,'')%> If i use <%= @model.source.url%>, the video is not played. When do the puts for video url it shows me the video URL as /source/original/sample/sample.fly?22000009. I knew that the last portion is a timestamp, but i want to use <%= @model.source.url%>. What's my mistake here can any one correct me please?

  • Random point on VideoDisplay isn't accurate enough

    For a schoolassigment me and some buddies of mine are creating an application that is showing many similarities with the C-Mon & Kypski musicvideo on www.oneframeoffame.com. The application is being developed in Flex. We want to get a random point of a clip, let it pause so a user can mimic the pose and make a snapshot out of it. What i managed to do is get a random point of the movie. I did this by getting a random value between 0 and de total duration of the movie. But what i didn't managed to do is let the screen pause on every 24st of a frame. As the movie concist out of 24FPS. It looks like the the random value of the movie that is being requested is being rounded by the movie itself. As example: There appears to be no difference between the frames requested at 2.40 or 2.41. It appears it got something to do with keyframing i've read on the Adobe® Flex™ 3.5 Language Reference. The movie is a FLV file and i use the VideoDisplay object to display the movie. Does someone is familiar with this or knows a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance

Can anybody tell me how to give the path in the server?

  • ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

    Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed.   • Resizing video best practices (frame size)

    I have read the following which is from Best Practices for Encoding Video with the VP6 Codec on the Adobe website here - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/encoding_video_print.html. It is talking about common video ratios (320x240, 640x480) Although these ratios are standard, and should be used to avoid distorting the video, the size of the encoded video is not set in stone. The original web video sizes used heights and widths that were evenly divisible by 16. This was mandatory for many early codecs. Although this is not necessary for modern codecs, you should stick to even heights and widths. What do they mean by 'even heights and widths'. I am thinking about encoding my video at 400x300 to make it slightly bigger, this is still 4x3 format but should I just stick at 320x240 and resize it on the screen? Clearly there are benefits to this in terms of storage size and delivery costs. In some places on my site I want to show the video at 400x300 but in others I want it to play full screen so this is why I am wondering if a larger original size (400x300) will give better results when blown up. Any thoughts?

    Hi, I've managed this so far: [removed url] The plan is to have that video stretch across the whole page (the flash does, the video itself does not). Firstly: well aware of the issues - bad performance, horribly stretched/pixelated video. I know this. However a client wants it so we have to do it, simple as that. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be achieved? I've been in touch with the creators of the flash video player I'm currently using and they've confirmed it isn't possible with that flash video player. Anyone know of any players where it is possible? Thanks, Tim

  • How do I load multiple FLV files, with the same COMPLETE event handler?

    When loading files with the Loader in ActionScript 3, I am able to inspect the event attribute on the complete event handler to determine what the URL is for the file that has completed downloading. Loader exposes a variable in the event handler attribute: event.target.url which I means that when the handler returns, I can easily determine which file is loading. However, my client has sent numerous FLV files built in After Effects that constitute the UI elements of a Flash application built for them. Loading FLV files require the use of URLLoader, and this does not appear to expose the name of the file being loaded. So I either need to convert the FLV's to SWF, so I can load them as normal. Is there a way to determine the URL inside the onComplete event handler fired by URLLoader?
