• Windows Media Center doesn't see my movies

  I am trying to configure my Windows Media Center (Windows 7 Ultimate). I selected folder with my movies and added it to the library, but when I went to the movies library, it says "There are no items in this library yet - Windows Media Center is searching for media files in the background...". I have all necessary codecs installed, Windows Media Player opens those movies correctly. When I right click on the file - Open with - Windows Media Center it also plays them without any problem. Any ideas why they don't appear in the libraries?

• Is there a way to browse a media server (MediaTomb) with a media player (VLC)?

  I currently have an EEE PC set up with LinuxMint as my media server using MediaTomb. I use VLC as my media player on another Windows computer to watch videos off the media server. It works fine, but the current process is: Open up browser and navigate to folder Find the file I want to play and copy URL Paste URL into VLC and watch. This is fine for me on the PC, but it is a little troublesome for my parents to grasp (or for me to use on the phone). Ideally I'd like to: Open up VLC Browse to the file (using VLC) Click/select to play If there is any solution which is similar to this, please let me know. I'm willing to change the software on both server and client to accommodate (although it somewhat depends on which formats are supported on the server) Side note: I've tried searching online for this but I find a lot of jargon such as "media server/centre", media streaming, DLNA, UPNP and feel that some people are either using them interchangeably or incorrectly.

• Intel RAID0 on Windows 8 not Displaying Correct Media Type

  I have my primary C Drive which consists of 2 Intel 120GB SSD Drives in a RAID0. I have a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, latest MEI software, latest RST software, latest Intel Toolbox. Prior to this I had installed Windows 8 Pro as an upgrade. When I went into the Optimize Drives while in the Upgrade installation, it showed the Media Types as Solid State Drives. However, now since I am in a brand new install, it is showing the Media Type as Hard Disk Drive. I am worried about this because of the trim not working properly. Before when in the upgrade, it showed SSD as the media type and the Optimize option would perform a manual trim. Unfortunately, my search credentials on Google are so common to many other things (ie Raid0, SSD, Windows 8, Media Type) that all I am finding are useless topics. • ssh rsa keys expires after 5 years

  I'm using an old login with ssh-rsa public/private key and all was good. I noticed that a couple of days ago the authorizazion was avoid with message "server refused our keys". After diggin' I figured out that the couple of keys stop working after exactly 5 years of their creation. So I make a new pair of keys, take the public one, paste inside a file in ~/.ssh of the username that I'm using, converted it with ssh-keygen -if and paste the new file into authorized_keys but the I still get "server refused our key". It's ok to copy and paste the real key without transfer it? What I'm missing? This isn't my first time using a pair of keys and I follow the same procedure as described. I'm in doubt if I'm changing the correct authorized_keys file but I've take a look in /etc/passwd and see where is the home of the login which I'm using.

  As a company we now have Facebook, LinkedIN, Twitter and now Google+, is there a way to easily manage all these accounts without having to log into them individually? Things like posting content to each one is becoming a full time job in itself, is there a way to post once that in turn posts to all other accounts? I used to use http://ping.fm/ a long time ago, has there been any advancements in something similar to this? With friend lists, news feeds etc etc for each one, I wish there was a way to manage them all in one place with a service/tool!

  I'm using an Apple bluetooth keybord to control my Linux synergy server. SSH tunneling, Mouse, Keyboard, and Copy&Paste all work. Linux sees all the media/app keys that are on top of the F# keys correctly. However if I press any of those keys while controlling my OSX client, nothing happens on the client.   Im trying to set access from ServerA(SunOS) to ServerB(Some custom Linux with Keyboard Interactive login) with SSH Keys. As a proof of concept I was able to do it between 2 virtual machines. Now in my real life scenario it isnt working. I created the keys in ServerA, copied them to ServerB, chmod'd .ssh folders to 700 on both ServerA,B. What could be happening? EDIT WITH ANSWER: Problem was that I didnt have those settings enabled in the sshd_config (Refer to accepted answer) AND that while pasting the key from ServerA to ServerB it would interpret the key as 3 separate lines. What I did was, in case you cant use ssh-copy-id like I couldnt. Paste the first line of your key in your "ServerB" authorized_keys file WITHOUT the last 2 characters, then type yourself the missing characters from line 1 and the first one from line 2, this will prevent adding a "new line" between the first and second line of the key. Repeat with the 3d line.

  Hi all, I recently re-installed windows and everything on it and besides this one issue everything is working much smoother again... the only problem is that I cannot load windows media content (for example *.asx) within my firefox browser. If i go to a page which embeds such streaming media, the media player never loads, and if i type the full url to the asx in the address bar, nothing loads. • Windows 7 - media sharing extremely flakey (XBox 360)

  I have constant headaches with Windows Media Library sharing, which I'm using to share my video library (a whole lot of AVI files on my computer's hard drive) with the XBox 360. I have the whole setup working, so setup and basic configuration is not an issue. The issue is that Windows Media Library frequently fails to notice additions and modifications to the "watched" folders. Not only that, but often after I've added something new to the library, it fails to transmit this new library information to the 360, as is demonstrated by the fact that, using that 360, I navigate to my video library and the new folders don't show up in the list. Often the only way to get the 360 to see the changes is to exit out of "Videos" on the 360, then remove all videos from Windows Media Library, go back into videos on the 360 to confirm that nothing is shared, then re-add a few videos (but not too many) in Windows Media Library, then go back into the videos in the 360. The whole thing is a real pain in the bum and I really wish I could just add all my videos to Windows Media Library and have it keep watch without me having to kick it, and have the 360 pick up changes without me having to constantly rebuild the library. Any ideas?

• Media center consumes all available memory when attempting to play music off of a server

  I have Windows 7 Ultimate, and recently, when i try to play a song off of my Twonky Media Server/Windows Media Connect (based on an HP WHS with an Atom), it plays choppily. When i open Resource Monitor, it shows that after ordering the music to play, memory usage rapidly spikes to consume most, if not all, of the available memory on my system (excluding a couple hundred megabytes in standby). Why does it do this and is there anything i can do to stop it? Edit: it happens when I attempt to browse the server's music, not just when i play music. Edit 2: the "ehshell" process is what consumes the memory, appears to me something specific to media center. Moreover, the ehshell process doesn't die in this case. Edit 3: It only happens when browsing my Twonky library, and not my Windows Media Connect.

• Windows Media Player functionality for Ubuntu

  I have way to many music files to bother with setting up playlists. Especially since my files locations keeps changing as I move stuff around and swap between different computers, different mount points, and even different Operating Systems! So managing my media with any application is doomed to failure. However, since I still want to listen to the music I usually just select all the files I want to play at a time and then right-click to open them in a media player. Works great in windows media player and places all the tracks in a temp playlist on the sidebar. Fails in ubuntu using Rhythmbox since it doesn't understand "temp" playlists and just keeps adding files to your FULL listing of all sings on your whole computer. I have over three copies of some tracks now in my audio collection - and all of them are now invalid because the location of the files has changed. So what media player (for Ubuntu) works well with just temporary playlists and will allow me to open up my files without adding them to a collection?

• Windows Media Player 11 fails to authenticate with proxy (ISA)

  We have some users who need to use a 3rd party site that embeds Windows Media Player streaming video into a web page. Our users go through an ISA proxy server to connect to the Internet. The browser has no problems accessing the site through the proxy. When Media Player loads, we get prompted for network credentials, but the authentication fails. If we set up Internet Explorer 8 to not use the proxy, Media Player has no problem. Media Player is configured to use the RTSP/TCP and HTTP protocols, but not the RTSP/UDP protocol. Is this necessary? Is there a registry key I can use to enable it? Is this more of a proxy server issue? The proxy guy says it's a desktop issue.

  New guy here. I asked a while back about a sprite recolouring program that I was having difficulty with and got some great responses. Basically, I tried to write a program that would recolour pixels of all the pictures in a given folder from one given colour to another. I believe I have it down, but, now the program is telling me that I have an invalid value specified for the red component of my colour. (ValueError: Invalid red value specified.), even though it's only being changed from 64 to 56. Any help on the matter would be appreciated!
