• Flex+JPA/Hibernate+BlazeDS+MySQL how to debug this monster?!

  Ok so I'm making a "simple" web app using the technologies from the topic, recently I found http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex_hibernate.html so I'm following it and I try to apply it to my app, the only difference being I'm working on a Mac and I'm using MAMP for the database (so no command line for me). The thing is I'm having some trouble with retrieving/connecting to the database. I have the remoting-config.xml, persistance.xml, a News.java class (my Entity), a NewsService.java class, a News.as class - all just like in the tutorial. I have of course this line in one of my .mxmls: <mx:RemoteObject id="loaderService" destination="newsService" result="handleLoadResult(event)" fault="handleFault(event)" showBusyCursor="true" /> And my remoting-config.xml looks like this (well part of it): <destination id="newsService"> <properties><source>com.gamelist.news.NewsService</source></properties> </destination> NewsService has a method: public List<News> getLatestNews() { EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(PERSISTENCE_UNIT); EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); Query findLatestQuery = em.createNamedQuery("news.findLatest"); List<News> news = findLatestQuery.getResultList(); return news; } And the named query is in the News class: @Entity @Table(name="GLT_NEWS") @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name="news.findLatest", query="from GLT_NEWS order by new_date_added limit 5 ") }) The handledLoadResult looks like this: private function handleLoadResult(ev:ResultEvent):void { newsList = ev.result as ArrayCollection; newsRecords = newsList.length; } Where: [Bindable] private var newsList:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); But when I try to trigger: loaderService.getLatestNews(); nothing happens, newsList is empty. Few things I need to point out: 1) as I said I didn't install mysql manually, but I'm using MAMP (yes, the server's running), could this cause some trouble? 2) I already have a "gladm" database and I have a "GLT_NEWS" table with all the fields, is this bad? Basically the question is how am I suppose to debug this thing so I can find the mistake I'm making? • Meteor exception in Meteor.flush when updating a collection breaks reactivity across clients

  When I'm calling Collection.update from the front end (the method call is allowed), the update does work ok, but the exception below is being thrown (in Chrome's JS console, not in the server). Although the update took place, other clients connected to the same collection do not see the updates until they refresh the browser - I suspect because of the exception. Any idea what might cause this? • How to check if a Webcam is broken?

  I just bought an Acer Aspire 3830TG, it comes with an integrated 1.3M HD Webcam. Before buying it i tried with a bootable Lubuntu usb stick, everything worked well except for the webcam, which i thought I had to tweak. The thing is that it seems the camera should work with no problems in ubuntu. The driver is detected, I try dmesg | grep uvcvideo and the output is [ 12.226174] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device 1.3M HD WebCam (058f:b002) [ 12.245553] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo I've also tried using different software (guvcview is black when camera output is MJPG and turns to funny colors when YU12 or YV12, cheese is always black, camorama is always with funny colors...). I should have checked that it was working properly with the default os (windows) but now it's too late for that. I even booted with a official Ubuntu Quantal distro from the usb pen, and the results are the same. so, my question is: is there any way to check that the camera is righmt or broken? So, if it's broken, at least i can go to the shop, show them that it's really broken and get an external webcam for free, or st like that. cheers. UPDATE 1 Thanks, jrp. For some reason, Urban Airship is making each character of the string into its own tag. I've tried to substitute the - for a string neg with the same results. What's wrong?

• SSL issue with emails

  OK, so I have somebody hosting a site on my CentOS 5.8 Plesk 11 control panel. He has a EV SSL which is validating the site fine however he has failed the PCI check because it is saying his email servers (SMTP, IPAM, POP) have the wrong name on the servers. This is because his SSL certificate is not a wildcard certificate and the email servers are flagging the default Plesk SSL certificate. Is there a way to stop Plesk automatically connecting emails via the default SSL? I'm fairly new to things like this so I hope I've written everything I need, let me know if any more details are needed. Jack

  My setup is two ISPs on a single interface and single network. I can either set my default gateway to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.250 and either work. My desire is to utilize both of them with some load balancing. Suppose I have more than a network interfaces and I want to selectively use them per application. eth0 is the standard interface with the standard gateway in the main routing table eth1 is another interface with a different gateway. Suppose I launch an application as a user "user_eth1". I used the following set of rules for iptables / ip rules. • Can I lvreduce after lvextend without losing the ext4 partition inside it?

  In a botched attempt to move my root partition from one disk to another I have done the following: added new disk partitioned it with parted (part #3 is now almost totally filling the disk) initialized a physical volume $ pvcreate /dev/sdb3 Physical volume "/dev/sdb3" successfully created extended the volume group to include this new physical disk $ vgextend myvg /dev/sdb3 Volume group "myvg" successfully extended extended the logical volume (I think this is where I ballsed it up: I think I should have pvmove'ed stuff to the new pv in that group - can someone confirm?) $ lvextend /dev/mapper/myvg-root /dev/sdb3 I would now like to undo the lvextend and then proceed with the original plan of moving the content of the old physical volume over to the new physical volume. Can I reduce the logical volume (I have not yet touched the ext4 partition that sits in /dev/mapper/myvg-root with something like resizefs) without fear of damaging the ext4 filesystem? If so, how do I tell it to reduce by exactly the right amount? $ lvreduce --by-exactly-the-amount-occupied-by-PV /ev/sdb3 /dev/mapper/myvg-root

• Iptable Rule to redirect all traffic requesting a specific domain

  I'm on a simple linux proxy. I'd like to add iptable rules to drop all requests for a specific domain. I figured I run a dig command to get the ip addresses for the domain and then add an iptable rule for each one. It seems, however, that it doesn't work to bind to more than one ip address. So, it seems I need to add ip ranges like this... iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp -m iprange --dst-range 66.220.144.0-66.220.159.255 --dport 443 -j DROP That seems to work. However, it has proven pretty problematic to parse the output of dig and correctly create the appropriate iptable rules. Is there a better way? Thanks! EV

• CMOTECH D-50 modem installation in Ubuntu 12.04

  I have recently upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04. I had installed a 3G D-50 modem from CMOTECH. The program for Debian is provided by a Swedish company (ice.net). Usually after some mambo jambo of installung the libg++ libraries requested you can install it and runned in Ubuntu 8.04, 9.04, 10.04 and as far as I know in 11.04. When I upgraded and I click on the icon of ice.net it worked. However, I noticed that the usb D-50 modem was never mounted as usb and it didn't show up in the Lauchnpad or workspace (as when you plug a usb memory stick or another HD). I moved the icon from place in the launchpad and since when I click on the ice.net icon the same message appears: "please plug in your modem". The modem works (I've tested in Windows after this) and it blinks blue (sign that it works and picks up signal). If I type lsusb then I see that Ubuntu sees it on BUS address 006: Bus 006 Device 003: ID 16d8:6803 CMOTECH Co., Ltd. CNU-680 CDMA EV-DO modem I've tried wvdial without success. How can I get the D-50 usb modem mounted as in the previous versions of Ubuntu ?. Any help will be much appreciated. bests. Ricardo

• 1. születésnap - új tartalom

  Kb. 1 éve, június elején kezdtem a blogot írni. Az elmúlt egy év alatt 3395 egyedi látogatója volt a blognak, a látogatók alkalmanként átlagosan 59 másodpercet töltöttek el itt. Azt is el kell ismerni, hogy elég nagy a visszafordulási arány (83,5%), azaz az idetévedok kevesebb mint ötöde találja hasznosnak a tartalmat. Ennek persze lehet egy fontos oka, hogy az IT kifejezésekre keresések miatt külföldiek számára is feljön a keresokben a blogom, így csak megnyitva a blogot észlelik, hogy nem értenek magyarul :-). Jól mutatja az alábbi térkép is, hogy a világ számos pontjáról idetalálnak (van aki egyébként használ valami webes fordító megoldást a nyelvi akadály leküzdésére), de az is látszik hogy a célközönséget is sikerül elérni, azaz a látogatók zöme Magyarországról érkezik (3505 látogatás az összes 5082-bol). Érdekes, hogy a legtöbb látogató a "vb tippjáték" (110 látogató) kifejezésre talált ide, ezt követi az "oracle junior képzés" (42), majd a "kyte" (40) (nem biztos hogy Tom Kyte-ra gondoltak :-)). Csupán a 4. helyen áll az elso igazi IT keresés: "oracle workflow" (37), majd "oracle enterprise manager" (33). A napi csúcslátogatást (76) is a vb tippjátékra keresoknek köszönheti a blog... Az 1. születésnap örömére próbáltam valami újítást csinálni. A fejléc alatt látható új menüsorba próbálom összeszedni azokat a hasznos oldalakat, amelyek kapcsolódnak a blog témájához, ám esetleg nem annyira egyszeru rátalálni a weben. Tervezem még ezt tovább bovíteni, esetleg egy külön oldalt is létrehozni erre a célra a blog mögött. Remélem ezzel segítem a blog olvasók munkáját.

The smart grid is integral to the monitoring and control of energy use as well as the future-proofing of the energy grid.
