  • Where is all the memory being consumed?

    - by Mark L
    Hello, I have a Dell R300 Ubuntu 9.10 box with 4GB of memory. All I'm running on there is haproxy, nagios and postfix yet there is ~2.7GB of memory being consumed. I've run ps and I can't get the sums to add up. Could anyone shed any light on where all the memory is being used? Cheers, Mark $ sudo free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 3957 2746 1211 0 169 2320 -/+ buffers/cache: 256 3701 Swap: 6212 0 6212 Sorry for pasting all of ps' output but I'm keen to get to the bottom of this. $ sudo ps aux [sudo] password for mark: USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 1 0.0 0.0 19320 1656 ? • How to share two keyboard on the same laptop, french iso layout and usa ansi layout keyboard with usb?

    - by reyman64
    I recently buy a "noppoo choc mini" with this specific ANSI US-INTERNATIONAL pc84 layout. This specific keyboard have only 84 key , a 60% (compact tenkeyless) reduced layout My problem is simple, there is no keyboard layout into Ubuntu 12.04 which correspond to this usa normal ansi layout ... so it's the same problem with reduced version and only 84 key .. I search a template of normal ANSI US-INTERNATIONAL for xmodmap/xkb, and after i can try to manually map the other key. I search on google, and i don't find any other user which have same problem, so it's seem i have not the good keywoard to search this information.. Edit 1 : Here you can see there is probably a bug in ubuntu, because the layout for USA with dead key is not correct ! I have this : http://minus.com/lEdKMrsNAwkVA And other users have this for the same layout : http://i.stack.imgur.com/p52XG.png EDIT 2 It seems after a "sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" : french standard keyboard pc105 + precision M65 keyboard from dell laptop Now i can see the good us layout in parameters, but i cannot have the iso layout for french usage... EDIT 3 Ok, after reboot i understand the probleme, i explain. I have one laptop with integrated french keyboard, and i want to use my usb keyboard which use a usa ANSI layout. It seem it's impossible in ubuntu and "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" to share two different physical layout (ANSI and EU ISO) on the same computer ... EDIT4 Ok, it seems i can switch the physical layout (ISO <- ANSI) with this command in terminal : setxkbmap -layout us setxkbmap -layout us -variant alt-intl an setxkbmap -layout fr It's very complicated qnd it seem ubuntu 12.04 have big problem with keyboard manager ... because all works great with these two commands, without ANY change into the system parameters keyboard !!! Second bug ? The image of the layout for fr is buggy, the layout is not ISO, but i can press on the letter "< " at the left of right shift without any problem ! You can see the image here (french alternative with ANSI layout ? it's crazy ?) : http: //minus.com/lXsDJwoeyWAfF Can you help me on this point ? I'm lost with xkb, and manual mapping is very complicated ... Thanks a lot, SR

  • Ubuntu Server Cannot Route to the Internet

    - by ejes
    I've been having this problem for weeks now, and I can't seem to figure out the problem. My server can route the local network and serves it well, however it cannot access the internet. It can't be the router because everything else on this lan can route through the router. I've even switched the ethernet port. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried all the usual places, anyway, here are the configs: root@uhs:~# uname -a Linux uhs 3.0.0-16-generic-pae #28-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 27 19:24:01 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux root@uhs:~# cat /etc/network/interfaces # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. • Duplicate ping response when running Ubuntu as virtual machine (VMWare)

    - by Stonerain
    I have the following setup: My router - 192.168.0.1 My host computer (Windows 7) - 192.168.0.3 And Ubuntu is running as virtual machine on the host. VMWare network settings is Bridged mode. I've modified Ubuntu network settings in /etc/netowrk/interfaces, set the following config: iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.220 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 Internet works correctly, I can install packages. • nVidia Control Panel Won't Recognize SLI

    - by Nakaan
    So yesterday I bought a brand new, 1,000W PSU to replace my 650W one and to allow for SLI. I install it and my second card (both are GTX 560 ti cards). I reinstalled my drivers and my system recognizes both cards. The control panel says "GTX 560 ti x2", I can select between them for Physx, sound output, picture output (although I only have one hooked up to my monitor), etc. But the kicker is I can't turn on SLI. Everything I've read says I'll get a balloon notification saying I can use SLI and the control panel will have a new section, etc, but none of those things happens. Anyone have any ideas? System: Win7 Professional x64 2x GTX 560 ti 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 1,000W Xion PSU 8GB RAM (Can't think of my motherboard right now) Note: My PSU and MOBO both say they're SLI certified and I'm using an SLI bridge. Edit: Formatting changes

  • TableView Cells Use Whole Screen Height

    - by Kyle
    I read through this tutorial Appcelerator: Using JSON to Build a Twitter Client and attempted to create my own simple application to interact with a Jetty server I setup running some Spring code. I basically call a get http request that gives me a bunch of contacts in JSON format. I then populate several rows with my JSON data and try to build a TableView. All of that works, however, my tableView rows take up the whole screen. Each row is one screen. I can scroll up and down and see all my data, but I'm trying to figure out what's wrong in my styling that's making the cells use the whole screen. My CSS is not great, so any help is appreciated. Thanks! Here's my js file that's loading the tableView: // create variable "win" to refer to current window var win = Titanium.UI.currentWindow; // Function loadContacts() function loadContacts() { // empty array "rowData" for table view cells var rowData = []; // create http client var loader = Titanium.Network.createHTTPClient(); // set http request method and url loader.setRequestHeader("Accept", "application/json"); loader.open("GET", "http://localhost:8080/contactsample/contacts"); // run the function when the data is ready for us to process loader.onload = function(){ Ti.API.debug("JSON Data: " + this.responseText); // evaluate json var contacts = JSON.parse(this.responseText); for(var i=0; i < contacts.length; i++) { var id = contacts[i].id; Ti.API.info("JSON Data, Row[" + i + "], ID: " + contacts[i].id); var name = contacts[i].name; Ti.API.info("JSON Data, Row[" + i + "], Name: " + contacts[i].name); var phone = contacts[i].phone; Ti.API.info("JSON Data, Row[" + i + "], Phone: " + contacts[i].phone); var address = contacts[i].address; Ti.API.info("JSON Data, Row[" + i + "], Address: " + contacts[i].address); // create row var row = Titanium.UI.createTableViewRow({ height:'auto' }); // create row's view var contactView = Titanium.UI.createView({ height:'auto', layout:'vertical', top:5, right:5, bottom:5, left:5 }); var nameLbl = Titanium.UI.createLabel({ text:name, left:5, height:24, width:236, textAlign:'left', color:'#444444', font:{ fontFamily:'Trebuchet MS', fontSize:16, fontWeight:'bold' } }); var phoneLbl = Titanium.UI.createLabel({ text: phone, top:0, bottom:2, height:'auto', width:236, textAlign:'right', font:{ fontSize:14} }); var addressLbl = Titanium.UI.createLabel({ text: address, top:0, bottom:2, height:'auto', width:236, textAlign:'right', font:{ fontSize:14} }); contactView.add(nameLbl); contactView.add(phoneLbl); contactView.add(addressLbl); row.add(contactView); row.className = "item" + i; rowData.push(row); } Ti.API.info("RowData: " + rowData); // create table view var tableView = Titanium.UI.createTableView( { data: rowData }); win.add(tableView); }; // send request loader.send(); } // get contacts loadContacts(); And here are some screens showing my problem. I tried playing with the top, bottom, right, left pixels a bit and didn't seem to be getting anywhere. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • El CFO como agente de cambio

    - by RED League Heroes-Oracle
    "El Director Financiero es ahora visto como un catalizador de negocios ... Y es al CFO a quien las empresas buscan en su intento de aprovechar la tecnología para obtener una ventaja competitiva" EL CFO impulsa la Innovación en el Negocio a través de Estrategias de Inversión Personalizada No es ningún secreto que la Nube, las redes sociales , los grandes datos , las aplicaciones móviles y otras tecnologías disruptivas están trayendo cambios sin precedentes a las empresas de hoy en día . Pero mientras que la tecnología está proporcionando la chispa necesaria para el cambio, no toda la transformación está ocurriendo en el interior del departamento de TI. Los modelos financieros que sustentan las inversiones en las últimas tecnologías también están experimentando convulsiones. Las estrategias más recientes están aprovechando los futuros ingresos o ahorros esperados de las inversiones para financiar las innovaciones empresariales actuales. Esto ayuda a explicar por qué la línea de los Ejecutivos de negocios pueden están involucrados directamente en el 80 por ciento de las nuevas inversiones en TI para el 2016, un 58 por ciento más que en 2013 de acuerdo con la organización de investigación IDC. Por ejemplo, algunas organizaciones ya no sólo financian proyectos de nuevas tecnologías a partir de los presupuestos de TI exclusivamente. Los directores financieros a la vanguardia de la modernización se tornan a estas soluciones para desarrollar estrategias creativas que financien la innovación empresarial con nuevos recursos. “El director financiero es ahora más probable que sea visto como un catalizador del negocio, es decir, un agente de cambio y una valiosa fuente de experiencia e ideas ", afirman los vicepresidentes de Oracle, John O'Rourke y Karen Dela Torre en el documento Empoderando la Organización Financiera Moderna. Los CFOs como agentes de cambio requieren de opciones de inversión flexibles y sofisticadas para ayudar a sus organizaciones a capitalizarse rápidamente en las aperturas de competitividad. • How can I close a port that appears to be orphaned by Xvfb?

    - by Jim Fiorato
    I'm running Xvfb on a FC8 Amazon EC2 image. On occasion Xvfb will crash (unable at the moment to find out the reason for the crash), and after crashing the TCP port will appear to be orphaned. I'm unable to get a PID to kill any process that may be using it. I'm starting Xvfb with: Xvfb :7 -screen 0 1024x768x24 & Examples of what I'm working with are below, the Xvfb port is (was) 6007: # netstat -ap Active Internet connections (servers and established) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 1894/sshd tcp 0 0 *:6007 *:* LISTEN - tcp 0 352 ip-10-84-69-165.ec2.int:ssh c-71-194-253-238.hsd1:51689 ESTABLISHED 2981/0 udp 0 0 *:bootpc *:* 1817/dhclient udp 0 0 *:bootpc *:* 1463/dhclient Active UNIX domain sockets (servers and established) Proto RefCnt Flags Type State I-Node PID/Program name Path unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 871 668/udevd @/org/kernel/udev/udevd unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 5385 1880/dbus-daemon /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket unix 6 [ ] DGRAM 5353 1867/rsyslogd /dev/log unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 11861 2981/0 unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 5461 1974/crond unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 5451 1904/console-kit-da unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 5438 1880/dbus-daemon /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 5437 1904/console-kit-da unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 5396 1880/dbus-daemon unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 5395 1880/dbus-daemon unix 2 [ ] DGRAM 5361 1871/rklogd # lsof -i COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME dhclient 1463 root 3u IPv4 4704 UDP *:bootpc dhclient 1817 root 4u IPv4 5173 UDP *:bootpc sshd 1894 root 3u IPv4 5414 TCP *:ssh (LISTEN) sshd 2981 root 3u IPv4 11825 TCP ip-10-84-69-165.ec2.internal:ssh->c-71-194-253-238.hsd1.il.comcast.net:51689 (ESTABLISHED) Attempting to force the port closed with iptables doesn't seem to work either. iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 6007 -j DROP I'm at a loss as to how to reclaim/free the port.   • what's the difference between a Volume and a Partition in Windows 7 diskpart

    - by user170232
    I was trying to follow the Intel guide for setting up iRST (Intel Rapid Start Technology) on my new laptop. The Intel manual says you need to create a *Volume that is as big or bigger than your available memory, set it to a specific id (id=84), then go into the iRST tool and adjust some settings. Looking at the disk manager on the laptop, I see there is already a Partition labeled as "Hibernation Partition" which is a little bigger than the memory in my system. So it looks like iRST was already set up...BUT, it's a Partition, not a Volume. Here's what the manual says to do: (from: http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/rapid_start_technology_user_guide.pdf) diskpart list disk select disk x (where x is the disk to use, there's only one disk in this laptop) create partition primary size=X000 (where X000 is the size to create) detail disk (which lists details for the disk. This is where i get hung up) select volume Z (where Z is the *partition you created previously) ** it says the 'detail disk' command will list the volume #, but it doesn't. ** 'detail disk' only lists two "volumes" for Recovery and OS. ** if i do 'list partition', i see the 8 GB *partition labeled as "Hibernation Partition") ** so I can't continue with the following steps: set id=84 override exit The reason I went looking for the manual is because when iRST is enabled in the BIOS, the system won't resume from sleep. When it's disabled, it works fine, but the system goes into (legacy?) Hibernation mode and takes a while to come out of Hibernation. the iRST is supposed to resume from deep sleep very quickly. So, what's the difference between a Volume and a Partition? Should I delete the Hibernation Partition and create a Hibernation Volume? Anyone have any ideas? (if it matters, this is on a Dell XPS 13 with BIOS A08) Thanks! J

  • Why would I be getting IXFR and AXFR transfer denied on my DNS server?

    - by danielj
    From everything I've researched and tried, it appears that my named.conf is configured correctly, including the allow-transfer section. Here is a sample of the errors. It is only happening with a couple of my secondary servers, but it is happening for every zone for those servers that are failing. One of the servers is attempting IXFR, the other AXFR. The result is the same: 18-Mar-2011 14:27:51.372 security: error: client 84.234.24.90#59208: zone transfer 'juansgaranton.com/IXFR/IN' denied 18-Mar-2011 14:32:18.015 security: error: client 174.37.196.55#50783: zone transfer 'cheshirecat.net/AXFR/IN' denied Here is the relevant part of named.conf. options { directory "/etc/bind"; pid-file "/var/run/named/named.pid"; files 4096; allow-transfer { 140.186.190.103; 84.234.24.90; 207.246.95.34; 203.20.52.5; 140.186.190.103; 127.0.0.1; 174.37.196.55; }; }; logging { channel "bind" { file "/var/log/bind.log" versions 3; print-time yes; print-severity yes; print-category yes; severity info; }; category lame-servers { null; }; category "default" { "bind"; }; };

  • Strange IIS hits originating from Trend Micro

    - by TesterTurnedDeveloper
    I'm trying to trace thru an error on a extranet site I maintain. I've had a look thru the logs, and I'm seeing hits originate from these IP addresses: 216.104.15.130 216.104.15.138 216.104.15.142 216.104.15.13 150.70.84.49 150.70.84.44 Network-tools.com gives 'TREND MICRO INCORPORATED' as the owner of all these IPs. The hits fail as they aren't sending any cookies (therefore aren't considered logged in). The hits are to pages containing URLs that only the logged in user would see, i.e. ImageEdit.aspx?ImageId=467424. I.e. the server isn't guessing these URLs, someone would have to log into the site to know these URLs exist. Theory: the Trend Antivirus client grabs URLs and sends them to the server for 'extra processing'? Googling around gives me this: http://www.forumpostersunion.com/showthread.php?p=51272 - where people are reporting comment spam from these addresses. The articles says their servers have been hacked (a few months ago, presumably fixed now?). A hacked server wouldn't explain how the URLs have been plucked off the user's PCs. Has anyone seen this before? Anything nefarious going on here?

Is there an easy way to determine which nameserver this is (basically a traceroute for DNS)?
