  • Reason why UIImage gives me a 'distorted' image sometimes

    - by Cedric Vandendriessche
    I have a custom UIView with a UILabel and a UIImageView subview. (tried using UIImageView subclass aswell). I assign an image to it and add the view to the screen. I wrote a function which adds the amount of LetterBoxes to the screen (my custom class): - (void)drawBoxesForWord:(NSString *)word { if(boxesContainer == nil) { /* Create a container for the LetterBoxes (animation purposes) */ boxesContainer = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 205, 320, 50)]; [self.view addSubview:boxesContainer]; } /* Calculate width of letterboxes */ NSInteger numberOfCharacters = [word length]; CGFloat totalWidth = numberOfCharacters * 28 + (numberOfCharacters - 1) * 3; CGFloat leftCap = (320 - totalWidth) / 2; [letters removeAllObjects]; /* Draw the boxes to the screen */ for (int i = 0; i < numberOfCharacters; i++) { LetterBox *letter = [[LetterBox alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(leftCap + i * 31 , 0, 28, 40)]; [letters addObject:letter]; [boxesContainer addSubview:letter]; [letter release]; }} This gives me the image below: http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2c72bb99/4ba3b2c72abfd-Goed.png But sometimes it gives me this: imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2d888226/4ba3b2d88728a-Fout.png I add them to the same boxesContainer but they first remove themselves from the superview, so it's not like you see them double or something. What I find weird is that they are all good or all bad.. This is the init function for my LetterBox: if (self == [super initWithFrame:aRect]) { /* Create the box image with same frame */ boxImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; boxImage.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; boxImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"SpaceOpen.png"]; [self addSubview:boxImage]; /* Create the label with same frame */ letterLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; letterLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; letterLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"ArialRoundedMTBold" size:26]; letterLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; letterLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; [self addSubview:letterLabel]; } return self;} Does anyone have an idea why this could be? I'd rather have them display correctly every time :)

  • How can I successfully dechiper Instruments Messages for iPhone Leak

    - by dubbeat
    Hi, I have a memory leak in my app. (This is the first of many I'm sure :() I've being trying to use Instruments to find it. Instruments gives me a lot of information but I think I must just not know how to use this information. What I did so far was 1) Run the app with Instruments 2) Memory Leak Occurs named general -stack 16 3) Find general - stack 16 in the object allocations part of instruments 4) The information here says the event type is a malloc, that webcore is responsible and the something named WKSetCurrentGraphicContext is the responsible caller. How can I use this given information to discover where in my code the leak is being caused? If I comment out the following function I don't get the leak warning so I guess it should be in there somewhere but I can't see where -(void)constructFeatured { NSString *imageName =[[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%@%@%@",@"http://myweb/avatar_", featuredValueObject.featured_promo_artistid, @".jpg"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:imageName]; CGRect frame; frame.size.width=100; frame.size.height=100; frame.origin.x=20; frame.origin.y=39; [imageName release]; imageName=nil; SDWebImageManager *manager = [SDWebImageManager sharedManager]; UIImage *cachedImage = [manager imageWithURL:url]; if (cachedImage) { cachedImage =[ImageManipulator makeRoundCornerImage:cachedImage : 10 : 10]; UIImageView *avatarimageview = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithImage:cachedImage ]; avatarimageview.frame=frame; [self.view addSubview:avatarimageview]; UIView *spinny = [self.view viewWithTag:SPINNY_TAG]; [spinny removeFromSuperview]; [avatarimageview release]; } else { [manager downloadWithURL:url delegate:self]; } NSURL *url2 =[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@%@",@"http://myweb/", featuredValueObject.featured_promo_artistcountry , @".png"]]; CGRect flagframe; flagframe.size.width=16; flagframe.size.height=11; flagframe.origin.x=130; flagframe.origin.y=40; NSData* data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url2]; UIImage* img = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; UIImageView *imageflagview = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage: img]; imageflagview.frame=flagframe; [self.view addSubview:imageflagview]; [imageflagview release]; imageflagview=nil; [data release]; [img release]; [url release]; artistname =[[UILabel alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(130,75, 200, 15)]; [artistname setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:(16.0)]]; artistname.backgroundColor= [UIColor clearColor]; artistname.textColor=[UIColor whiteColor]; artistname.text=featuredValueObject.featured_promo_artistname; [self.view addSubview:artistname]; [artistname release]; hasConstructedFeatured=YES; [featuredValueObject release]; featuredValueObject=nil; }

  • UIButton addTarget:action:forControlEvents: results in [NSObject doesNotRecognizeSelector:]

    - by Teodor
    Hi. I tried a lot of stuff, still no result. So I have the following button created programatically in a subclass of UIViewController: rightButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; rightButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 110.0, 40.0); rightButton.titleLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:GAME_FONT_NAME_STRING size:20.0]; [rightButton setTitle:@"MyTitle" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; rightButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [rightButton setTitleColor:[UIColor greenColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [rightButton setTitleColor:[UIColor blackColor] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [rightButton setBackgroundImage:normalImage forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [rightButton setBackgroundImage:highlightedImage forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:rightButton]; where the selector is: - (void)myButton; I tried everything: - (void)myButton; - (void)myButton:(id)sender; - (void)myButton:(id)sender forEvent:(UIEvent *)event; - (IBAction)myButton; - (IBAction)myButton:(id)sender; - (IBAction)myButton:(id)sender forEvent:(UIEvent *)event; and the corresponding selectors, of course: [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton:forEvent:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButton:forEvent:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The result is always an uncaught exception - [NSObject doesNotRecognizeSelector:]. However, the usual backtrace of the program is: #0 0x92a6bedb in objc_msgSend () #1 0x03b0a430 in ?? () #2 0x00306b4e in -[UIControl sendAction:to:forEvent:] () #3 0x00308d6f in -[UIControl(Internal) _sendActionsForEvents:withEvent:] () #4 0x00307abb in -[UIControl touchesEnded:withEvent:] () #5 0x002bcddf in -[UIWindow _sendTouchesForEvent:] () #6 0x002a67c8 in -[UIApplication sendEvent:] () #7 0x002ad061 in _UIApplicationHandleEvent () #8 0x02498d59 in PurpleEventCallback () #9 0x01cabb80 in CFRunLoopRunSpecific () #10 0x01caac48 in CFRunLoopRunInMode () #11 0x02497615 in GSEventRunModal () #12 0x024976da in GSEventRun () #13 0x002adfaf in UIApplicationMain () So what is the problem with that button? PS: I am using the iPhone SDK 3.1.3 Update! The following code in the AppDelegate (no declarations in the interface): - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { UIButton *test = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 320.0, 100.0)]; [test setTitle:@"Title" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; UIImage *bg = [UIImage imageNamed:...]; [test setBackgroundImage:bg forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [test addTarget:self action:@selector(testAction) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [window addSubview:test]; [test release]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)testAction { NSLog(@"Write something..."); } works perfectly! But if I create an empty UIViewController with the same code: - (void)viewDidLoad { UIButton *test = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 320.0, 100.0)]; [test setTitle:@"Title" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; UIImage *bg = [UIImage imageNamed:...]; [test setBackgroundImage:bg forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [test addTarget:self action:@selector(testAction) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:test]; [test release]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)testAction { NSLog(@"Write something..."); } I get this mysterious error. :-( Help!

  • DTGridView losing content while scrolling

    - by Wim Haanstra
    I am using DTGridView from the DTKit by Daniel Tull. I implemented it in a very simple ViewController and the test I am doing is to place a button in the last row of the grid, which should add another row to the grid (and therefor moving the button to a row beneath it). The problem is, when I click the button a couple of times and then start scrolling, the grid seems to lose its content. As I am not completly sure this is a bug in the grid, but more in my code, I hope you guys can help me out and track down the bug. First I have my header file, which is quite simple, because this is a test: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "DTGridView.h" @interface TestController : UIViewController <DTGridViewDelegate, DTGridViewDataSource> { DTGridView* thumbGrid; } @end I declare a DTGridView, which will be my grid, where I want to put content in. Now, my code file: #import "TestController.h" @implementation TestController int rows = 1; - (NSInteger)numberOfRowsInGridView:(DTGridView *)gridView { return rows; } - (NSInteger)numberOfColumnsInGridView:(DTGridView *)gridView forRowWithIndex:(NSInteger)index { if (index == rows - 1) return 1; else return 3; } - (CGFloat)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView heightForRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex { return 57.0f; } - (CGFloat)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView widthForCellAtRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex column:(NSInteger)columnIndex { if (rowIndex == rows - 1) return 320.0f; else return 106.6f; } - (DTGridViewCell *)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView viewForRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex column:(NSInteger)columnIndex { DTGridViewCell *view = [[gridView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"thumbcell"] retain]; if (!view) view = [[DTGridViewCell alloc] initWithReuseIdentifier:@"thumbcell"]; if (rowIndex == rows - 1) { UIButton* btnLoadMoreItem = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 0, 301, 57)]; [btnLoadMoreItem setTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Button %d", rowIndex] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btnLoadMoreItem.titleLabel setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]]; [btnLoadMoreItem setBackgroundImage:[[UIImage imageNamed:@"big-green-button.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:10.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btnLoadMoreItem addTarget:self action:@selector(selectLoadMoreItems:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [view addSubview:btnLoadMoreItem]; [btnLoadMoreItem release]; } else { UILabel* label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10,0,100,57)]; label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d x %d", rowIndex, columnIndex]; [view addSubview:label]; [label release]; } return [view autorelease]; } - (void) selectLoadMoreItems:(id) sender { rows++; [thumbGrid setNeedsDisplay]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; thumbGrid = [[DTGridView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0, 320, 320)]; thumbGrid.dataSource = self; thumbGrid.gridDelegate = self; [self.view addSubview:thumbGrid]; } - (void)viewDidUnload { [super viewDidUnload]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end I implement all the methods for the DataSource, which seem to work. The grid is filled with as many rows as my int 'rows' ( +1 ) has. The last row does NOT contain 3 columns, but just one. That cell contains a button which (when pressed) adds 1 to the 'rows' integer. The problem starts, when it starts reusing cells (I am guessing) and content start disappearing. When I scroll back up, the UILabels I am putting in the cells are gone. Is there some bug, code error, mistake, dumb-ass-move I am missing here? Hope anyone can help.

  • iPhone Memory Error - when using Build & Debug, How to debug?

    - by LonH99
    I'm a newbie and need some help with an iPhone App running on the Simulator. The app works fine running with Build & Run or Build & Run - breakpoints off, but blows when running with Build & Debug - Breakpoints on. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Lon Specifics: No breakpoints set, never gets to any visible simulator results, seems to blow during initialization phase before it can generate any output. Source of app is the DrinkMixer example, in the "Head First iPhone development" book (example built up to page 280) by Dan & Tracey Pilone. Blows With this Error Message: Attaching to process 970. • UIPageControl bug: showing one bullet first and then showing everything

    - by user313551
    I have some strange behavior using a UIPageControl: First it appears showing only one bullet, then when I move the scroll view all the bullets appear correctly. Is there something I'm missing before I add it as a subview? Here is my code imageScrollView.h : @interface ImageScrollView : UIView <UIScrollViewDelegate> { NSMutableDictionary *photos; BOOL *pageControlIsChangingPage; UIPageControl *pageControl; } @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableDictionary *photos; @property (nonatomic, copy) UIPageControl *pageControl; @end Here is the code for imageScrollView.m: #import "ImageScrollView.h" @implementation ImageScrollView @synthesize photos, pageControl; - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if ((self = [super initWithFrame:frame])) { // Initialization code NSLog(@"%@",pageControl); } return self; } - (void) drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [self removeAllSubviews]; UIScrollView *scroller = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,self.frame.size.width,self.frame.size.height)]; [scroller setDelegate:self]; [scroller setBackgroundColor:[UIColor grayColor]]; [scroller setShowsHorizontalScrollIndicator:NO]; [scroller setPagingEnabled:YES]; NSUInteger nimages = 0; CGFloat cx= 0; for (NSDictionary *myDictionaryObject in photos) { if (![myDictionaryObject isKindOfClass:[NSNull class]]) { NSString *photo =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.techbase.com.mx/blog/%@", [myDictionaryObject objectForKey:@"filepath"]]; NSDictionary *data = [myDictionaryObject objectForKey:@"data"]; UIView *imageContainer = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height - 30)]; TTImageView *imageView = [[TTImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height - 30)]; imageView.urlPath=photo; [imageContainer addSubview:imageView]; UILabel *caption = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,imageView.frame.size.height,imageView.frame.size.width,10)]; [caption setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[data objectForKey:@"description"]]]; [caption setBackgroundColor:[UIColor grayColor]]; [caption setTextColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [caption setLineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; [caption setNumberOfLines:0]; [caption sizeToFit]; [caption setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Georgia" size:10.0]]; [imageContainer addSubview:caption]; CGRect rect = imageContainer.frame; rect.size.height = imageContainer.size.height; rect.size.width = imageContainer.size.width; rect.origin.x = ((scroller.frame.size.width - scroller.size.width) / 2) + cx; rect.origin.y = ((scroller.frame.size.height - scroller.size.height) / 2); imageContainer.frame=rect; [scroller addSubview:imageContainer]; [imageView release]; [imageContainer release]; [caption release]; nimages++; cx +=scroller.frame.size.width; } } [scroller setContentSize:CGSizeMake(nimages * self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height)]; [self addSubview:scroller]; pageControl = [[UIPageControl alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(self.frame.size.width/2, self.frame.size.height -20, (self.frame.size.width/nimages)/2, 20)]; pageControl.numberOfPages=nimages; [self addSubview:pageControl]; [scroller release]; } -(void)dealloc { [pageControl release]; [super dealloc]; } -(void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)_scrollView{ if(pageControlIsChangingPage){ return; } CGFloat pageWidth = _scrollView.frame.size.width; int page = floor((_scrollView.contentOffset.x - pageWidth /2) / pageWidth) + 1; pageControl.currentPage = page; } -(void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)_scrollView{ pageControlIsChangingPage = NO; } @end

  • iPhone: Repeating Rows in Each Section of Grouped UITableview

    - by Rank Beginner
    I'm trying to learn how to use the UITableView in conjunction with a SQLite back end. My issue is that I've gotten the table to populate with the records from the database, however I'm having a problem with the section titles. I am not able to figure out the proper set up for this, and I'm repeating all tasks under each section. The table looks like this. The groups field is where I'm trying to pull the section title from. TaskID groups TaskName sched lastCompleted nextCompleted success 1 Household laundry 3 03/19/2010 03/22/2010 y 1 Automotive Change oil 3 03/20/2010 03/23/2010 y In my viewDidLoad Method, I create an array from each column in the table like below. //Create and initialize arrays from table columns //______________________________________________________________________________________ ids =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; tasks =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; sched =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; lastComplete =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; nextComplete =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; weight =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; success =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; group =[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Bind them to the data //______________________________________________________________________________________ NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM Tasks ORDER BY nextComplete "]; sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { [ids addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0)]]; [group addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 1)]]; [tasks addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 2)]]; [sched addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 3)]]; [lastComplete addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 4)]]; [nextComplete addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 5)]]; [success addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%s",(char*) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 6)]]; [weight addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",(int*) sqlite3_column_int(statement, 7)]]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } In the table method:cellForRowAtIndexPath, I create controls on the fly and set their text properties to objects in the array. Below is a sample, I can provide more but am already working on a book here... :) /create the task label NSString *tmpMessage; tmpMessage = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ every %@ days, for %@ points",[tasks objectAtIndex:indexPath.row],[sched objectAtIndex:indexPath.row],[weight objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; CGRect schedLabelRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 250, 15); UILabel *lblSched = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:schedLabelRect]; lblSched.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; lblSched.text = tmpMessage; lblSched.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:10]; [cell.contentView addSubview: lblSched]; [lblSched release]; My numberOfSectionsInTableView method looks like this // Figure out how many sections there are by a distinct count of the groups field // The groups are entered by user when creating tasks //______________________________________________________________________________________ NSString *groupquery = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT groups) as Sum FROM Tasks"]; int sum; sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( database, [groupquery UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { sum = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } if (sum=0) { return 1; } return 2; } I know I'm going wrong here but this is all that's in my numberOfRowsInSection method return [ids count];

  • Need help with memory leaks in RSS Reader

    - by Stilton
    I'm trying to write a simple RSS reader for the iPhone, and it appeared to be working fine, until I started working with Instruments, and discovered my App is leaking massive amounts of memory. I'm using the NSXMLParser class to parse an RSS feed. My memory leaks appear to be originating from the overridden delegate methods: - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string and - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName I'm also suspicious of the code that populates the cells from my parsed data, I've included the code from those methods and a few other key ones, any insights would be greatly appreciated. - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string { if ([self.currentElement isEqualToString:@"title"]) { [self.currentTitle appendString:string]; } else if ([self.currentElement isEqualToString:@"link"]) { [self.currentURL appendString:string]; } else if ([self.currentElement isEqualToString:@"description"]) { [self.currentSummary appendString:string]; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName { if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) { //asdf NSMutableDictionary *item = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [item setObject:currentTitle forKey:@"title"]; [item setObject:currentURL forKey:@"URL"]; [item setObject:currentSummary forKey:@"summary"]; [self.currentTitle release]; [self.currentURL release]; [self.currentSummary release]; [self.stories addObject:item]; [item release]; } } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell. // Set up the cell int index = [indexPath indexAtPosition: [indexPath length] - 1]; CGRect contentRect = CGRectMake(8.0, 4.0, 260, 20); UILabel *textLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:contentRect]; if (self.currentLevel == 0) { textLabel.text = [self.categories objectAtIndex: index]; } else { textLabel.text = [[self.stories objectAtIndex: index] objectForKey:@"title"]; } textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; textLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:14]; [[cell contentView] addSubview: textLabel]; //[cell setText:[[stories objectAtIndex: storyIndex] objectForKey: @"title"]]; [textLabel autorelease]; return cell; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict { if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) { self.currentTitle = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; self.currentURL = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; self.currentSummary = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; } if (currentElement != nil) { [self.currentElement release]; } self.currentElement = [elementName copy]; } - (void)dealloc { [currentElement release]; [currentTitle release]; [currentURL release]; [currentSummary release]; [currentDate release]; [stories release]; [rssParser release]; [storyTable release]; [super dealloc]; } // Override to support row selection in the table view. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here -- for example, create and push another view controller. // AnotherViewController *anotherViewController = [[AnotherViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AnotherView" bundle:nil]; int index = [indexPath indexAtPosition: [indexPath length] - 1]; if (currentLevel == 1) { StoryViewController *storyViewController = [[StoryViewController alloc] initWithURL:[[stories objectAtIndex: index] objectForKey:@"URL"] nibName:@"StoryViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:storyViewController animated:YES]; [storyViewController release]; } else { RootViewController *rvController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"RootViewController" bundle:nil]; rvController.currentLevel = currentLevel + 1; rvController.rssIndex = index; [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; [rvController release]; } }

First I have my header file, which is quite simple, because this is a test: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "DTGridView.h" @interface TestController : UIViewController <DTGridViewDelegate, DTGridViewDataSource> { DTGridView* thumbGrid; } @end I declare a DTGridView, which will be my grid, where I want to put content in. Now, my code file: #import "TestController.h" @implementation TestController int rows = 1; - (NSInteger)numberOfRowsInGridView:(DTGridView *)gridView { return rows; } - (NSInteger)numberOfColumnsInGridView:(DTGridView *)gridView forRowWithIndex:(NSInteger)index { if (index == rows - 1) return 1; else return 3; } - (CGFloat)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView heightForRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex { return 57.0f; } - (CGFloat)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView widthForCellAtRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex column:(NSInteger)columnIndex { if (rowIndex == rows - 1) return 320.0f; else return 106.6f; } - (DTGridViewCell *)gridView:(DTGridView *)gridView viewForRow:(NSInteger)rowIndex column:(NSInteger)columnIndex { DTGridViewCell *view = [[gridView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"thumbcell"] retain]; if (!view) view = [[DTGridViewCell alloc] initWithReuseIdentifier:@"thumbcell"]; if (rowIndex == rows - 1) { UIButton* btnLoadMoreItem = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 0, 301, 57)]; [btnLoadMoreItem setTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Button %d", rowIndex] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btnLoadMoreItem.titleLabel setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]]; [btnLoadMoreItem setBackgroundImage:[[UIImage imageNamed:@"big-green-button.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:10.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btnLoadMoreItem addTarget:self action:@selector(selectLoadMoreItems:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [view addSubview:btnLoadMoreItem]; [btnLoadMoreItem release]; } else { UILabel* label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10,0,100,57)]; label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d x %d", rowIndex, columnIndex]; [view addSubview:label]; [label release]; } return [view autorelease]; } - (void) selectLoadMoreItems:(id) sender { rows++; [thumbGrid setNeedsDisplay]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; thumbGrid = [[DTGridView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0, 320, 320)]; thumbGrid.dataSource = self; thumbGrid.gridDelegate = self; [self.view addSubview:thumbGrid]; } - (void)viewDidUnload { [super viewDidUnload]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end I implement all the methods for the DataSource, which seem to work. The grid is filled with as many rows as my int 'rows' ( +1 ) has. The last row does NOT contain 3 columns, but just one. That cell contains a button which (when pressed) adds 1 to the 'rows' integer. The problem starts, when it starts reusing cells (I am guessing) and content start disappearing. When I scroll back up, the UILabels I am putting in the cells are gone. Is there some bug, code error, mistake, dumb-ass-move I am missing here? Hope anyone can help.

  • Why i cannot get the frame of a UIView in order to move it? The view is defined.

    - by Jann
    I am creating a nav-based app with a view that floats at the bottom of the screen (Alpha .7 most of the time). I create it like this... // stuff to create the tabbar/nav bar. // THIS ALL WORKS... // then add it to subview. [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; // need this last line to display the window (and tab bar controller) [window makeKeyAndVisible]; // Okay, here is the code i am using to create a grey-ish strip exactly `zlocationAccuracyHeight` pixels high at `zlocationAccuracyVerticalStartPoint` starting point vertically. CGRect locationManagerAccuracyUIViewFrame = CGRectMake(0,zlocationAccuracyVerticalStartPoint,[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds].size.width,zlocationAccuracyHeight); self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:locationManagerAccuracyUIViewFrame]; self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView.autoresizingMask = (UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth); self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView.backgroundColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor]; [self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView setAlpha:0]; CGRect locationManagerAccuracyLabelFrame = CGRectMake(0, 0,[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds].size.width,zlocationAccuracyHeight); locationManagerAccuracyLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:locationManagerAccuracyLabelFrame]; if ([myGizmoClass useLocationServices] == 0) { locationManagerAccuracyLabel.text = @"GPS Accuracy: Using Manual Location"; } else { locationManagerAccuracyLabel.text = @"GPS Accuracy: One Moment Please..."; } locationManagerAccuracyLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12]; locationManagerAccuracyLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; locationManagerAccuracyLabel.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; locationManagerAccuracyLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [locationManagerAccuracyLabel setAlpha:0]; [self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView addSubview: locationManagerAccuracyLabel]; [window addSubview: self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView]; this all works (i am not sure about the order i create the uiview in ... meaning i am creating the frame, the view, creating the "accuracy text" and adding that to the view, then adding the uiview as a subview of the window . It works and seems correct in my logic. So, here is the tough part. I have a timer that i am testing with. I am trying to float the uiview up by 30 pix. here is that code: [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; CGRect rect = [ self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView frame]; NSLog(@"ORIGIN: %d x %d (%@)\n",rect.origin.x,rect.origin.y,rect); rect.origin.y -= 30; [UIView commitAnimations]; The problem? rect is nill, rect.origin.x and rect.origin.y are both zero. Can anyone tell me why? Here is how i set up self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView in my files: Delegate.h UIView *locationManagerAccuracyUIView; UILabel *locationManagerAccuracyLabel; ... @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIView *locationManagerAccuracyUIView; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *locationManagerAccuracyLabel; Delegate.m ... @synthesize locationManagerAccuracyUIView; @synthesize locationManagerAccuracyLabel; ... BTW: Other places in another timer i DO set the alpha to fade in and out and THAT works! So locationManagerAccuracyUIView is valid and defined as a view... For instance: [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [locationManagerAccuracyLabel setAlpha:1]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView setAlpha:.7]; [UIView commitAnimations]; ...and it DOES work. Can anyone help me? As an aside: I know, when typing this I used self.locationManagerAccuracyUIView and locationManagerAccuracyUIView interchangeably to see if for some reason that was the issue. It is not. :) Thx

  • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. • UITableView not displaying parsed data

    - by Graeme
    I have a UITableView which is setup in Interface Builder and connected properly to its class in Xcode. I also have a "Importer" Class which downloads and parses an RSS feed and stores the information in an NSMutableArray. However I have verified the parsing is working properly (using breakpoints and NSlog) but no data is showing in the UITable View. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'm almost out of them. It's based on the XML performance Apple example. Here's the code for TableView.h: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "IncidentsImporter.h" @class SongDetailsController; @interface CurrentIncidentsTableViewController : UITableViewController <IncidentsImporterDelegate>{ NSMutableArray *incidents; SongDetailsController *detailController; UITableView *ctableView; IncidentsImporter *parser; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *incidents; @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) SongDetailsController *detailController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IncidentsImporter *parser; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITableView *ctableView; // Called by the ParserChoiceViewController based on the selected parser type. - (void)beginParsing; @end And the code for .m: #import "CurrentIncidentsTableViewController.h" #import "SongDetailsController.h" #import "Incident.h" @implementation CurrentIncidentsTableViewController @synthesize ctableView, incidents, parser, detailController; • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS (OBJ-C/iPhone)

• iphone twitter posting

    - by user313100
    I have some twitter code I modified from: http://amanpages.com/sample-iphone-example-project/twitteragent-tutorial-tweet-from-iphone-app-in-one-line-code-with-auto-tinyurl/ His code used view alerts to login and post to twitter but I wanted to change mine to use windows. It is mostly working and I can login and post to Twitter. However, when I try to post a second time, the program crashes with a: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFString text]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xc2d560' I'm a bit of a coding newbie so any help would be appreciated. If I need to post more code, ask. #import "TwitterController.h" #import "xmacros.h" #define XAGENTS_TWITTER_CONFIG_FILE DOC_PATH(@"xagents_twitter_conifg_file.plist") static TwitterController* agent; • Fitting an Image to Screen on Rotation iPhone / iPad ?

    - by user356937
    I have been playing around with one of the iPhone examples from Apple' web site (ScrollViewSuite) . I am trying to tweak it a bit so that when I rotate the the iPad the image will fit into the screen in landscape mode vertical. I have been successful in getting the image to rotate, but the image is larger than the height of the landscape screen, so the bottom is below the screen. I would like to image to scale to the height of the landscape screen. I have been playing around with various autoSizingMask attributes without success. The imageView is called "zoomView" this is the actual image which loads into a scrollView called imageScrollView. I am trying to achieve the screen to rotate and look like this.... olsonvox.com/photos/correct.png However, this is what My screen is looking like. olsonvox.com/photos/incorrect.png I would really appreciate some advice or guidance. Below is the RootViewController.m for the project.
