  • javascript flowchart library for workflow visualization

    - by jonny
    I need to generate flowchart from business process specification (tasks, their input, output points, roles applicable for each task... ) stored in a database. What I need is javacript (preferably, open-sourced) library which can generate a shiny flowchart with swimlines. Ideally I should be able to edit workflow items connections and send changes back to database. Any recommendations? UPDATE By flowchart I mean something like this: UPDATE Found open-source project which that allows create/edit basic flowcharts here Tt seems abanddoned since 2007.

  • Matlab 3d volume visualization and 3d overlay

    - by inf.ig.sh
    Hi, so the question ist pretty much the title. I have a 3d volume loaded as raw data [256, 256, 256] = size(A). It contains only values of zero's and ones, where the 1's represent the structure and 0's the "air". I want to visualize the structure in matlab and then run an algorithm on it and put an overlay on it, let's say in the color red. So to be more precise: How do i visualize the 3d volume. 0's transparent, 1's semitransparent? Plot a line in the 3 d vis as an overlay? I already read the mathworks tutorials and they didn't help. I tried using the set command, but it fails completly saying for every property i try "invalid root property". I hope someone can help.

  • OLAP Web Visualization and Reporting Recommendations

    - by Gok Demir
    I am preparing an offer for a customer. They proide weekly data to different organizations. There is huge amount data suits OLAP that needed to be visualized with charts and pivot tables on web and custom reports will be built by non-it persons (an easy gui). They will enter a date range, location which data columns to be included and generate report and optionally export the data to Excel. They currently prepare reports with MS Excel with Pivot Tables and but they need a better online tool now to show data to their customers. Tables are huge and need of drill-down functionality. My current knowledge Spring, Flex, MySql, Linux. I have some knowledge of PostgreSQL and MSSQL and Windows. What is the easiest way of doing this project. Do you think that SSRP (haven't tried yet) and ASP.NET better suits for this kind of job. Actually I prefer open source solutions. Flex have OLAP Data Grid control which do aggregation on client side. JasperServer seems promising but it seems I need enterprise version (multiple organizations and ad hoc queries). What about Modrian + Flex + PostgreSQL solution? Any previous experience will be appreciated. Yes I am confused with options.

  • Prefuse: Reloading of XML files

    - by John
    Hello all, I am a new to the prefuse visualization toolkit and have a couple of general questions. For my purpose, I would like to perform an initial visualization using prefuse (graphview / graphml). Once rendered, upon a user click of a node, I would like to completely reload a new xml file for a new visualization. I want to do this in order to allow me to "pre-package" graphs for display. For example. If I search for Ted. I would like to have an xml file relating to Ted load and render a display. Now in the display I see that Ted has nodes associated called Bill and Joe. When I click Joe, I would like to clear the display and load an xml file associated with Joe. And so on. I have looked into loading one very large xml file containing all node and node relationship info and allowing prefuse to handle this using the hops from one level to another. However, eventually I am sure that system performance issues will arise due to the size of data. Thanks in advance for any help, John

  • Operating system for visualization app in 6 monitors

    - by Federico
    Hi. I have to plan the development for an application with these major requirements: Show different graphical data and animations in 6 monitors, in fullscreen mode. The hardware to be used is a PC with 3 NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 cards. I have some expertise working with OpenGL, but never with more than one monitor. I have the (some limited) freedom to choose an operating system for the application. My options are: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Ubuntu 8.04/10.04. I would like to know, if you have some expertise or knowledge in the multi-monitor application development field, what is the recommended operating system for this kind of application? And, do I need any software other than the operating system and the NVIDIA drivers to be able to use the 6 monitors in fullscreen, showing different things in each one of them? Any comment/answer will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! Federico

  • How to create a chart from mysql data?

    - by user187580
    Hello, I have some data and want to create some dynamic charts. I have looked on Google visualisation api .. It looks great but the problem is I am not very familiar with it. Any ideas, how I can set the data.setValue from mysql data. <script type='text/javascript'> google.load('visualization', '1', {'packages': ['geomap']}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap); function drawMap() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addRows(6); data.addColumn('string', 'Country'); data.addColumn('number', 'Popularity'); data.setValue(0, 0, 'Germany'); data.setValue(0, 1, 200); data.setValue(1, 0, 'United States'); data.setValue(1, 1, 300); data.setValue(2, 0, 'Brazil'); data.setValue(2, 1, 400); data.setValue(3, 0, 'Canada'); data.setValue(3, 1, 500); data.setValue(4, 0, 'France'); data.setValue(4, 1, 600); data.setValue(5, 0, 'RU'); data.setValue(5, 1, 700); var options = {}; options['dataMode'] = 'regions'; var container = document.getElementById('map_canvas'); var geomap = new google.visualization.GeoMap(container); geomap.draw(data, options); }; </script> I can create chart using some other methods but just interested in using Google Visualisation API. Thanks.

  • Google Charts - Adding Tooltip to Colorized Column Chart

    - by David K
    I created a column chart with google charts that has a different color assigned to each column using the following posting: Assign different color to each bar in a google chart But now I'm trying to figure out how to customize the tooltips for each column to also include the number of users in addition to the percent, so "raw_data[i][1]" I would like it to look like "70% (80 Users)" I understand that there is "data.addColumn({type:'number',role:'tooltip'});" but I'm having trouble understanding how to implement it for this use-case. function drawAccountsChart() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); var raw_data = [ ['Parents', 80, 160], ['Students', 94, 128], ['Teachers', 78, 90], ['Admins', 68, 120], ['Staff', 97, 111] ]; data.addColumn('string', 'Columns'); for (var i = 0; i < raw_data.length; ++i) { data.addColumn('number', raw_data[i][0]); } data.addRows(1); for (var i = 0; i < raw_data.length; ++i) { data.setValue(0, i+1, raw_data[i][1]/raw_data[i][2]*100); } var options = { height:220, chartArea: { left:30, width: "70%", height: "70%" }, backgroundColor: { fill:"transparent" }, tooltop:{ textStyle: {fontSize: "12px",}}, vAxis: {minValue: 0} }; var formatter = new google.visualization.NumberFormat({ suffix: '%', fractionDigits: 1 }); formatter.format(data, 1); formatter.format(data, 2); formatter.format(data, 3); formatter.format(data, 4); formatter.format(data, 5); var chart = new google.visualization.ColumnChart(document.getElementById('emailAccountsChart')); chart.draw(data, options); }

  • Data Visualization Prototype (Java/Eclipse/DAO/Relational DB)

    - by Vince
    Hello, I am building a prototype application which displays various 2D & 3D data charts. I am using a third party library for the charts, the database and data extraction layer have already been coded. Can you advise on a good desktop Framework to use within Eclipse to provide a 'professional' looking GUI with minimum coding required (This is just a prototype). Further can anyone advise an effective method to port this application to a web server so users could access remotely? I have limited experience with GWT, are their more suitable alternatives? Many Thanks

    My university bought new big led display from chinese manufacturers. What I want to do is, show some visualizations (like Windows Media Player, Winamp, Itunes ... does) with music. I'd just drag the application window to show on screen But main problem is,The software that controls it (called "Led Vision") doesn't support showing applications' windows: It shows limited types of the files, such as, powerpoint presentation, video files, picture files.. etc. Now the question is, where I can find the visualization video files? something that created in After Effects, looks like that:

  • DataGraph alternatives for Windows systems

    - by ldigas
    Recently, on a friend's mac I came across a wonderful application for plotting in numerous ways numeric data - DataGraph. I've always done this sort of thing with Excel, and with newer versions, to me (this is emphasized "to me", so this doesn't get taken as an Excel rant post), it's becoming troublesome. Are there applications like this (specialized for one thing they do good and relatively simple ... I'm not interested in CFD visualization packages in here.) for Windows ? All suggestions welcomed.

  • How to design this ?

    - by Akku
    how can i make this entire process as 1 single event??? http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/dev/dsl_get_started.html and draw the chart on single click? I am new to servlets please guide me When a user clicks the "go " button with some input. The data goes to the servlet say "Test3". The servlet processes the data by the user and generates/feeds the data table dynamically Then I call the html page to draw the chart as shown in the tutorial link above. The problem is when I call the servlet it gives me a long json string in the browser as given in the tutorials "google.visualization.Query.setResponse({version:'0.6',status:'ok',sig:'1333639331',table:{cols:[{............................" Then when i manually call the html page to draw the chart i am see the chart. But when I call html page directly using the request dispatcher via the servlet I dont get the result. This is my code and o/p...... I need sugession as to how should be my approach to call the chart public class Test3 extends HttpServlet implements DataTableGenerator { protected void processRequest(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { DataSourceHelper.executeDataSourceServletFlow(request, response, this , isRestrictedAccessMode() ); RequestDispatcher rd; rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("new.html");// it call's the html page which draws the chart as per the data added by the servlet..... rd.include(request, response);//forward(request, response); @Override public Capabilities getCapabilities() { return Capabilities.NONE; } protected boolean isRestrictedAccessMode() { return false; } @Override public DataTable generateDataTable(Query query, HttpServletRequest request) { // Create a data table. DataTable data = new DataTable(); ArrayList<ColumnDescription> cd = new ArrayList<ColumnDescription>(); cd.add(new ColumnDescription("name", ValueType.TEXT, "Animal name")); cd.add......... I get the following result along with unprocessed html page google.visualization.Query.setResponse({version:'0.6',statu..... <html> <head> <title>Getting Started Example</title> .... Entire html page as it is on the Browser. What I need is when a user clicks the go button the servlet should process the data and call the html page to draw the chart....Without the json string appearing on the browser.(all in one user click) What should be my approach or how should i design this.... there are no error in the code. since when i run the servlet i get the json string on the browser and then when i run the html page manually i get the chart drawn. So how can I do (servlet processing + html page drawing chart as final result) at one go without the long json string appearing on the browser. There is no problem with the html code....

  • Google Vizualization with CSV data

    - by Shlomo Shmai
    Hi, I have a URL that returns data in CSV format. I would like to use Google Vizualization to create an interactive chart of the data. I've looked at several examples on Google Chart and Vizualization web page but I'm a bit confused as I'm not familiar with JavaScript or web programming in general. Question: Do I have to use JavaScript to parse the CSV string myself and manually construct the DataTable with addColumn() and addRows()? Or, is there a way to simply pass the CSV url to the charting function? I'm hoping to do something like this: var csv_data = get_data_from_url('http://...') var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(csv_data); var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, ...); Can someone please help me out? Thanks.

  • multi row header on Google Visualizations

    - by Elzo Valugi
    I am trying to create a DataTable with a multi row header. I'll exemplify here: | 2008 | 2009 | --------------------------------------------------------- | price | qty. | price | qty | --------------------------------------------------------- | 93993 | 34434 | 34244 | 3434 | ..... The years headers can be fixed as I don't want to do sorting by that. Is there a way to do that in Google Visualizations? Update Attaching it with JS does NOT work, and it will disappear when sorting is done. $(".google-visualization-table-table").prepend("<tr class='google-visualization-table-tr-head'><td colspan='4'>something</tr>");

  • Multidimensional data table?

    - by ShreevatsaR
    [Apologies if this sort of question is off-topic for SuperUser. Please redirect to the right place if so.] There is a 3-dimensional array of values. (That is, instead of a table/2-dimensional array with values in a grid, the values can be thought of in a cube instead.) Is there a way to display this "cube" interactively, ideally on a webpage? Specifically, given the data, it would work something like this: the user selects two of the 3 variables. He then sees a "stack" of tables, one for each value of the third variable (cross-sections, in other words). By selecting the appropriate table from the stack, he can see the (i,j,k) value he wants. The "technology" for displaying such a thing (stacked tables, rotation, etc.) already exists, so this seems the sort of thing that someone ought to have written already. To be clear: I don't need sophisticated graphics necessarily, just the ability to select from cross-sections of variables. But I have no experience with (say, for displaying on a webpage) what web gadgets exist, so I'm clueless how to even search for one. (Google searches like "multidimensional data visualization" didn't throw up anything useful. Google Spreadsheets can do a few kinds of charts which can be embedded on a webpage, but I cannot tell if this is one of them.) [I can imagine how it ought to work for higher dimensions. For four-dimensions, instead of selecting just a stack, you'd first select an (i,j) from an "outer table", which would show all (k,l) values for that (i,j). For higher dimensions, inductively: you select (i,j), and then repeat what you'd do with 2 fewer dimensions.] So has this been written? Is this easy to write? Where ought one to look for such a thing?

  • jquery google visual api graph's data rows does not work.

    - by marharépa
    Hi! I'd like to use google drawVisualization API. Example: var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addColumn('string'); data.addColumn('number'); data.addRows([ ['a', 14], ['b', 47], ['c', 80], ['d', 55], ['e', 16], ['f', 90], ['g', 29], ['h', 23], ['i', 58], ['j', 48] ]); My version gets elements by an other google api, and join them, and after place the variable between ([ and ]), to be like in the example. var outputGraph = []; for (var i = 0, entry; entry = entries[i]; ++i) { var asd = [ entry.getValueOf('ga:pageTitle'), entry.getValueOf('ga:pageviews') ].join("',"); outputGraph.push(" ['" + asd + "]"); //get the 2 elements and join them to be like ['asd', 2], } // this is fine, the outputgraph is like ['asd', 2], ['asd', 2], ['asd', 2] as seen in the example var outputGraphFine = ("(["+outputGraph+"])"); // i suggest this is which fails the script. var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addColumn('string', 'Task'); data.addColumn('number', 'Hours per Day'); data.addRows = outputGraphFine; But it doesn't work. Why?

  • Alert visualization recipe: Get out your blender, drop in some sp_send_dbmail, Google Charts API, add your favorite colors and sprinkle with html. Blend till it’s smooth and looks pretty enough to taste.

    - by Maria Zakourdaev
      I really like database monitoring. My email inbox have a constant flow of different types of alerts coming from our production servers with all kinds of information, sometimes more useful and sometimes less useful. Usually database alerts look really simple, it’s usually a plain text email saying “Prod1 Database data file on Server X is 80% used. You’d better grow it manually before some query triggers the AutoGrowth process”. Imagine you could have received email like the one below.  In addition to the alert description it could have also included the the database file growth chart over the past 6 months. Wouldn’t it give you much more information whether the data growth is natural or extreme? That’s truly what data visualization is for. Believe it or not, I have sent the graph below from SQL Server stored procedure without buying any additional data monitoring/visualization tool.   Would you like to visualize your database alerts like I do? Then like myself, you’d love the Google Charts. All you need to know is a little HTML and have a mail profile configured on your SQL Server instance regardless of the SQL Server version. First of all, I hope you know that the sp_send_dbmail procedure has a great parameter @body_format = ‘HTML’, which allows us to send rich and colorful messages instead of boring black and white ones. All that we need is to dynamically create HTML code. This is how, for instance, you can create a table and populate it with some data: DECLARE @html varchar(max) SET @html = '<html>' + '<H3><font id="Text" style='color: Green;'>Top Databases: </H3>' + '<table border="1" bordercolor="#3300FF" style='background-color:#DDF8CC' width='70%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='3'>' + '<tr><font color="Green"><th>Database Name</th><th>Size</th><th>Physical Name</th></tr>' + CAST( (SELECT TOP 10                             td = name,'',                             td = size * 8/1024 ,'',                             td = physical_name              FROM sys.master_files               ORDER BY size DESC             FOR XML PATH ('tr'),TYPE ) AS VARCHAR(MAX)) + '</table>' EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail @recipients = '[email protected]', @subject ='Top databases', @body = @html, @body_format = 'HTML' This is the result:   If you want to add more visualization effects, you can use Google Charts Tools https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/index which is a free and rich library of data visualization charts, they’re also easy to populate and embed. There are two versions of the Google Charts Image based charts: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/gallery/chart_gall This is an old version, it’s officially deprecated although it will be up for a next few years or so. I really enjoy using this one because it can be viewed within the email body. For mobile devices you need to change the “Load remote images” property in your email application configuration.           Charts based on JavaScript classes: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery This API is newer, with rich and highly interactive charts, and it’s much more easier to understand and configure. The only downside of it is that they cannot be viewed within the email body. Outlook, Gmail and many other email clients, as part of their security policy, do not run any JavaScript that’s placed within the email body. However, you can still enjoy this API by sending the report as an email attachment. Here is an example of the old version of Google Charts API, sending the same top databases report as in the previous example but instead of a simple table, this script is using a pie chart right from  the T-SQL code DECLARE @html  varchar(8000) DECLARE @Series  varchar(800),@Labels  varchar(8000),@Legend  varchar(8000);     SET @Series = ''; SET @Labels = ''; SET @Legend = ''; SELECT TOP 5 @Series = @Series + CAST(size * 8/1024 as varchar) + ',',                         @Labels = @Labels +CAST(size * 8/1024 as varchar) + 'MB'+'|',                         @Legend = @Legend + name + '|' FROM sys.master_files ORDER BY size DESC SELECT @Series = SUBSTRING(@Series,1,LEN(@Series)-1),         @Labels = SUBSTRING(@Labels,1,LEN(@Labels)-1),         @Legend = SUBSTRING(@Legend,1,LEN(@Legend)-1) SET @html =   '<H3><font color="Green"> '+@@ServerName+' top 5 databases : </H3>'+    '<br>'+    '<img src="http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?'+    'chf=bg,s,DDF8CC&'+    'cht=p&'+    'chs=400x200&'+    'chco=3072F3|7777CC|FF9900|FF0000|4A8C26&'+    'chd=t:'+@Series+'&'+    'chl='+@Labels+'&'+    'chma=0,0,0,0&'+    'chdl='+@Legend+'&'+    'chdlp=b"'+    'alt="'+@@ServerName+' top 5 databases" />'              EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail @recipients = '[email protected]',                             @subject = 'Top databases',                             @body = @html,                             @body_format = 'HTML' This is what you get. DECLARE @html varchar(max),@query varchar(max) DECLARE @SeriesDBusers  varchar(800);     SET @SeriesDBusers = ''; SELECT @SeriesDBusers = @SeriesDBusers +  ' ["'+DB_NAME(r.database_id) +'", ' +cast(count(1) as varchar)+'],' FROM sys.dm_exec_requests r GROUP BY DB_NAME(database_id) ORDER BY count(1) desc; SET @SeriesDBusers = SUBSTRING(@SeriesDBusers,1,LEN(@SeriesDBusers)-1) SET @query = ' PRINT '' <html>   <head>     <script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.google.com/jsapi"></script>     <script type="text/javascript">       google.load("visualization", "1", {packages:["corechart"]});        google.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart);       function drawChart() {                      var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([                        ["Database Name", "Active users"],                        '+@SeriesDBusers+'                      ]);                        var options = {                        title: "Active users",                        pieSliceText: "value"                      };                        var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById("chart_div"));                      chart.draw(data, options);       };     </script>   </head>   <body>     <table>     <tr><td>         <div id="chart_div" style='width: 800px; height: 300px;'></div>         </td></tr>     </table>   </body> </html> ''' EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail    @recipients = '[email protected]',    @subject ='Active users',    @body = @html,    @body_format = 'HTML',    @query = @Query,     @attach_query_result_as_file = 1,     @query_attachment_filename = 'Results.htm' After opening the email attachment in the browser you are getting this kind of report: In fact, the above is not only for database alerts. It can be used for applicative reports if you need high levels of customization that you cannot achieve using standard methods like SSRS. If you need more information on how to customize the charts, you can try the following: Image Based Charts wizard https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_wizard  Live Image Charts Playground https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_playground Image Based Charts Parameters List https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/image/docs/chart_params Java Script Charts Playground https://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?type=visualization Use the above examples as a starting point for your procedures and I’d be more than happy to hear of your implementations of the above techniques. Yours, Maria
