  • Customizing Router Firmware

    - by beakersoft
Hi, i've got a netgear DG834 router, and i want to have a go at hacking the firmware on it to try and add a Wake on Lan option. Netgear let you download the source and the tools to build an image, but i'm not sure where to start. I've never programmed on a unix platform before, and never done any firmware hacking, just wondering if anyone knows any good resources i can look through Ta

  • DNS resolve without depending on router for asterisk system

    - by john
Hello, Basically I have a Debian box running asterisk assigned an IP via DHCP with host-name XXX. My windows browser can resolve the host-name but if I use host-name in X-Lite or my SPA922 phone it fails to resolve. Is there any way of getting this to work without depending on the router or assigning a static IP (request is to make it portable). I was thinking zero-conf but am unsure (box has limited HDD too). Any help is most appreciated.

  • What is the role of the Router Object in MVC based frameworks

    - by Saif Bechan
In most MVC based framework I see a router object. If I look at it splits up the uri and decides what controller should be used, and which action should be fired. Even though this makes a lot of sense, I can not give this a place in the MVC patern. Is splitting up the uri not the job of the controller. And then the controller should just decide which class and function to run.

  • Intel Extreme Tuning utility options are greyed

    - by Abhishek Sha
I'm having a ASUS K55VM with Intel Core i7 3610QM (IvyBridge) with a NVIDIA GT630M. I'm trying to operate the Intel XTU, but as you can see in the screenshot, all the options are greyed out. Can you please help with this situation. Another are is the CPU Throttling (Intel SpeedStep) which is always shown as 0%. But in the Intel Turbo Monitor, the Speed keeps dynamically changing. Then why is the CPU Throttling always at 0%?:

  • ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series firmware update

    - by Eugenio Miró
Hi everybody! I'm having a problem with my broadband connection established through a ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series DSL modem and wandered if a firmware update could help me fix that. The networking problem is not important at this point but my question is where to find this modem firmware updates because ZTE does not provide the bits. Does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks in advance!

  • Port forwarding on Fortigate 50B

    - by sindre j
I have serious problems setting up port forwarding on a Fortigate 50B. The unit is basically running as factory default, the wan1 interface is connected to my fibre optic internet modem, and my lan is connected to the internal switch of the Fortigate. The factory default firewall policy allowing traffic from the internal interface to wan1 is kept and I'm able to access the interet as normal. Then I added a virtual ip and a firewall policy for allowing access from the internet to my local servers (ip 192.168.9.51) webserver (standard port 80). The settings I made are as follows. Edit Virtual IP Mapping Name : Server VIP External interface : wan1 Type : Static NAT Extermal IP Address/Range : 0.0.0.0 Mapped IP Address/Range : 192.168.9.51 Port Forwading : not checked Firewall policy Source interface/Zone : wan1 Source address : all Destination interface/Zone : internal Destination address : Server VIP Schedule : always Service : HTTP Action : ACCEPT no other settings checked What happens now is that I'm unable to access internet from my server, I'm not getting through to the webserver from internet either. I'm able to ping a site on the outside, but all web traffic is blocked, both ways. I've checked the documentation, but as far as I can tell I have set this up correctly. Anyone here with knowledge of Fortigate port forwading/NAT?

  • Why isn't ICMP routing with iptables nat routing

    - by Scott Forsyth - MVP
I'm using iptables on Ubuntu server to route a public IP to a private IP. I want to nat all traffic, including 80, 443 and ICMP. However, it appears that ICMP isn't routing. I have a steady ping going to the public IP and it never stops, even with NAT pointing to a bogus IP. Here are the rules that I'm using: iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -d 206.72.119.76 -j DNAT --to-destination 10.240.5.5 iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -s 10.240.5.5 -j SNAT --to-source 206.72.119.76 I tried with rules for ICMP specifically, but no such luck: iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -d 206.72.119.76 - icmp --icmp-type echo-request -j DNAT --to-destination 10.240.5.5 Any ideas?

  • NFS and KVM. Slow Speed

    - by Javier Martinez
I have a KVM virtualization in Debian with 2 guests (Debian and Windows 2008). I want to have a 'mount point' shared that can be accessed by the 3 system (host and 2 guests) at the same time. So the only thing that I found was a NFS/SMB network storage. I picked NFS Due to my Ethernet network (10/100), the speed average that I get between accessing/transfering files between the 3 system is always 8~10MB/s. The point is if is there any chance of get a boost system for sharing files between 3 system (at the same time) without wasting the speed of my SATA disks. I mean, without the Ethernet limitation of 10 MB/s

  • Static DHCP!?

    - by voyager
I've found some home wireless routers/ADSL+ modems (ZyXEL 660) talking about Static DHCP, when refering to assosiating a specific MAC to an IP, but still serve the configuration over DHCP. Doesn't this have another name? What does Cisco call this feature (that I know supports because I've used long time ago)?

  • Host name resolution on a home network

    - by Kris
Hi, I have several machines (both virtual and physical) in my internal network at home. Currently I have to connect via 1P addresses. The one main machine I connect with to all the other machines is running Windows Vista. Is there a way I can have some sort of DNS capability inside my network as well so I can refer to these machines with a name? I think this would be a common problem in most households (running a few computers) and I think there might be some simple solutions out there. This would be something most routers should support out of the box - but why don't they? Can anyone recommend some of these or an easy way to accomplish this?

  • VMWare Fusion - Cannot communicate between Host Mac and Virtual Mac running on same machine [migrated]

    - by Jeff Gold
I'm running a "virtual" Mac OS machine on a Mac running VMWare Fusion. The Virtual Mac is setup with Bridged Networking, and has its own separate IP address. The outside world can connect to either the Mac itself or the virtual Mac via their respective IP addresses just fine, this works great! The problem... the Mac itself cannot connect to the virtual Mac's IP address, nor can the virtual Mac connect to the real Mac's IP address. Some things I've read mention something about enabling VMCI, but I have no idea how to do this, or if this is even the correct solution. Any suggestions?

  • Ericsson W35 ssh administration

    - by jblaster
I picked up a Ericsson W35 at a pawn shop the other day and when I login to the administration section at 192.168.1.1 I get an error message about connecting to the database. It apparently supports ssh administration and I get a password prompt when attempting to ssh [email protected] but no passwords I try work and theres no documentation for it. Has anyone had success with ssh on the Ericsson W35 and is this issue fixable? Thanks.

  • Need to setup an office network, suggest some hardware?

    - by Yegor
We have 6 windows workstations, spread out over a fairly large area. Need to share a DSL connection (upgrading to 100/100 mbit fiber in a few months) with these machines over a 1gbit network. Also need Wifi to be available for laptop use. Plan to add 2 rackmount servers for internal use as well. Can someone suggest a decent (preferably low cost) setup that will let me achieve the stuff mentioned above.

  • Accessing two networks connected to gateway from behind the gateway

    - by Babar
I have a Windows XP machine acting as internet gateway. It is connected to two different networks, one, say LAN1, connects to internet and other, say LAN2, to outside LAN. My machine is sitting behind the gateway. I have set up internet connection sharing on LAN1 and can access internet on my machine but i can't access anything from LAN2. Is it possible to access internet from LAN1 and yet be able to access PC's on LAN2? -------------- --------- | Lan 1 | | Lan 2 | | (Internet) | --------- -------------- ^ ^ | | | -------------------------- | Win XP Gateway | -------------------------- ^ | -------------- | My Machine | -------------- EDIT: Gateway is equipped with 3 lan sockets, two are connected to Lan 1 & 2, third one is connected to switch. And my machine also connects to that same switch.

  • Our wi-fi at work is ridiculously slow, will adding more range extenders improve it?

    - by john
At work, we have two wireless networks (e.g., Work1 Work2); the Work2 is used downstairs and Work1 is used upstairs. However, both are notoriously slow. The connection is better when we are wired in, but unfortunately due to our building being very old and our company growing very fast, most employees are not seated near the walls where the ethernet cables are. I had Cox, our ISP, run a bandwidth utilization test and it doesn't seem like we are capping out on upstream/downstream, which leads me to believe that it's strictly an issue with the wireless networks (which were implemented before I got there). The wireless networks are both Apple Airport Extremes. Is there anything I can do to improve the situation for everyone? Speeds are extremely slow, and sometimes drops out.

  • Web Content Filtering

    - by Byron Wilcox
I have recently bought a Cisco ASA 5505 for my small business, I was initially led to believe this device could do some limited website filtering that we would need. (one list of unrestricted, and a second for email only) Since it has come to my attention that it may not be able to do this what equipment or software will I need to make this happen?

  • Fritz!Box IPv6-Address different than IPv6-Prefix

    - by kmindi
In my Fritzbox it states the following: IPv6-Adresse: 2a02:8070:600::14b6:c7******, Gültigkeit: 100465/86065s IPv6-Präfix: 2a02:8070:62c:3200::/56, Gültigkeit: 100464/86064s I am not able to connect to IPv6 Addresses from computers configured by the fritzbox, because they get an address with prefix 2a02:8070:62c:3200::/56 but somehow the fritzbox does not route those addresses. Is this because the IPv6-Address is not in the prefix range? The address of the Fritzbox responds to pings, but my computers reached via various addresses from the prefix range do not (: PING 2a02:8070:62c:3200:28d****(2a02:8070:62c:3200:28d****) 32 data bytes From 2a02:8070:600:0:14b6*** icmp_seq=0 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited From 2a02:8070:600:0:14b6*** icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited From 2a02:8070:600:0:14b6*** icmp_seq=2 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited From 2a02:8070:600:0:14b6*** icmp_seq=3 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited blocked ping this is "view" from outside From inside the ping6 looks like this: traceroute -6 heise.de traceroute to heise.de (2a02:2e0:3fe:100::8), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets 1 fritz.box (2a02:8070:62c:3200:****) 0.787 ms 1.424 ms 1.702 ms 2 * * * ...... 30 * * *

  • Port forwarding 443 doesn't work

    - by Interstellar_Coder
So i'm hosting my own svn server and also have wamp running on the same machine. I have forwarded port 443 which the svn server is listening on. I can't seem to login when i simply forward the port, if i make the server a DMZ host then i can log in via https://mydomain.com, but i can't seem to figure out why simply forwarding port 443 doesn't work. Any ideas ? I checked online and it shows that port as stealth.
