  • Fastest SFTP client

    Protocol: SFTP (port 22) I've tested CuteFtp, FileZilla, SecureCRT and several others. Looks like CuteFTP has the best throughput, usually 200%-400% than others. I've read something about SecureFtp may have slower rate from here. Can anyone explain why CuteFtp has better throughput? And, is there any other FTP client even faster than CuteFtp? Thanks a lot!

    We're running a nginx reverse proxy cluster, forwarding traffic to our main website, this enables us to filter out unwanted traffic/users etc, and send them off else where, now we have a few issues with SYN floods where the requests a second is overflowing the proxy + the main server causing them to become unavailable. Is there any ip tables magic that can A) Rate limit SYN packets / connections to HTTP B) Block it all together if packets a second is malicious or any advice how to use limit_rate_zone in nginx, I've googled and tried to apply a few new results and none of them work and the websites are still unavailable.

So my download was cut. Is it possible to treat the file as your own and then put it to your own dropbox. And from there it would continue downloading.

  • internet disconnects

    Internet disconnects and reconnects, computer is in a peer to peer workstation with two other computers XP o/s. Only one computer has this problem the other two don't disconnect. Computer's connect to switch no router is being used. Ipconfig shows a DHCP connection, local area connection status shows packets being sent out but packets are not being received or being received at a extremely slow rate. Tried Winstock tool, reinstalling network card driver, restored to previous date, checked ethernet cable and release/renew IP.

  • Core i7 on linux loses its multithreading capability after suspend

    On my debian-linux system, with a core i7 920 , each time I resume after the command "pm-suspend" (suspend to RAM), mutlithreading capabilities almost disappear. More specifically, two distinct programs can use 2 distinct cores at full rate, but a single program is limited to only one core (for one instance of a multithreaded program as well as multiple instances of a monothreaded program, e.g. "make -j 4" for gcc). So I end up rebooting the system. Any help appreciated!

I want to take this into consideration as I might purchase SBS for the premium edition to get Sql Server at a much more cost effective rate but it feels like I would be getting shorted if I purchase SBS 2008 and receive Exchange 2007 since it is now outdated to 2010.

If you have anything to add, please do Many systems are dependent on keeping accurate time, the problem is with changes to time due to daylight savings - moving the clock forward or backwards. For instance, one has business rules in an order taking system that depend on the time of the order - if the clock changes, the rules might not be as clear. How should the time of the order be persisted? There is of course an endless number of scenarios - this one is simply an illustrative one. How have you dealt with the daylight saving issue? What assumptions are part of your solution? (looking for context here) As important, if not more so: What did you try that did not work? Why did it not work? I would be interested in programming, OS, data persistence and other pertinent aspects of the issue. General answers are great, but I would also like to see details especially if they are only available on one platform. Summary of answers and other data: (please add yours) Do: Always persist time according to a unified standard that is not affected by daylight savings. GMT and UTC have been mentioned by different people. Include the local time offset (including DST offset) in stored timestamps. Remember that DST offsets are not always an integer number of hours (e.g. Indian Standard Time is UTC+05:30).   • Overclocked GPU quantum problem

    Hi all, I overclocked my nVidia GPU, and now I get it to be much faster, but after a ~40% overclock, I start getting "mistakes" on the screen, like wrongly coloured pixels, glitches and the sort. Temperature is still within limits, as I added extra coolers. So my question is: is this a permanent problem which is damaging the GPU or is only something related to the intrinsic quantum mistake rate of processing calculations? Thanks for your opinion :-)

  • running localhost mta vs. php smtp'ing via 3rd party api

    so the question is, would it be "better" to run localhost mta (ie. postfix) or "better" to use 3rd party restful api, embedded in the application, to send email? i am curious what people would do here. i find postfix on linux allows much greater flexibility and control. the default sendmail/postfix logging (/var/log/maillog) suits me fine, and you can even set limits via iptables on per uuid's which allows rate-limiting apps.

    Hello, I'm using outlook 2007. Two days ago, we've enabled auto-archiving, maybe that't the source of our problems, but I still have to investigate. At any rate, auto completion of email addresses in the to/cc/bcc fields has become a stopper, taking up to a minute to do something.   • How effective are technical test(s) and is it necessary?

    Hi everyone, I recently took a Java technical test (for a company who wanted are looking for senior java developers) and, funny enough, I only realised the technical terms of what I've been doing all along after I've written the test. I'm not too IT jargon when it comes to development but I can pretty much code and create solutions unaware that I'm using design pattern (or the specifics of that design pattern) or technology. I learned things such as JMS, Frameworks, etc. while programming at home and having to google stuff online to problems I have. Others e.g. IoC, Surrogates in Databases, etc., I have used extensively without knowing that it had a name for it. Do you think that these technical test are effective and why? What interesting questions did you find that boggled your brains out while the clock kept ticking? Seeing that IT is vastly evolving at a rapid rate, do we have to constantly be updated with new terms that comes out? Some questions I was asked : What object oriented principle is violated by this architectural mechanism for dot notation? Is indexing tables effective for range query or point query search? What is ThreadLocal and what is it used for? Method overloading vs Method overriding. What is the difference between the 2? What is dynamic binding? Now, imagine my poor head trying to understand these jargons (considering I use it almost everyday) PS The question was not a programming question, where you have a problem and write code to solve it. Rather, a thinking type question and you write answers (against the clock). Update I clearly didn't come out clearly as I should have. There are those that are technically "book smart" but with very little hands-on experience and vice versa. So, the question (in connection to what I've asked) is that are these technical test seeking "book smart" people or people with lots of hands-on experience (some who are not that well clued up with too much book-smart jargons). How effective is it then, for companies to look for developers if most of the questions are too terminology-centric? (if that's the correct term, :))

    I receive Date and time from CSV file The received Date format is YYYMMDD (string) (there is no ":" ,"-","/" to separate Year month and date). The received time format is HH:MM (24 Hour clock). I have to validate both so that (example) (i) 000011990 could be invalidated for date (ii) 77:90 could be invalidated for time. The question is , Regular expression is the right candidate for do so (or) is there any other way to achieve it?
