    Hi folks, Simple question - for dedicated website hosting, do i need to download and install the full ASP.NET 4.0 package, or just the client. I understand the client is required for end users who need the .NET framework for their windows form applications. But i'm not sure for a web hosting sceanrio. Also, don't worry about talking about x86 or x64 - i understand the differences with the packages, etc.

    I'm reading this article about Comet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_(programming). It mentions that browser should support multipart/x-mixed-replace to make XmlHttpRequest Streaming possible. Why this multipart/x-mixed-replace is necessary? Without this header, HTTP response can still be chunked and sent piece by piece to browser, right?

  • CodeModel help needed for right-hand singleton.getinstance() assignment.

    I've been able to generate 99% of what I need with the CodeModel API, but I am stumped here... Using the various "directXX" methods does not add import statements to the generated code, and I can work without the "directXXX" type of methods except for one place in a generated class. Suppose I desire a generated method like: /** * Copies data from this Value-Obj instance, to the returned PERSON instance. * * @return PERSON * */ public PERSON mapVOToPERSON() throws MappingException { Mapper mapper = (com.blah.util.MapperSingleton.getMapperInstance()); return mapper.map(this, PERSON.class); } You can see the right hand of the Mapper assignment in parens. Emitting the entire package+class was the only way I could find to just declare "SomeSingleton.someMethod()" on the right hand side and have the generated code compile. Without the MapperSingleton being added to the object model, there is no import generated... Questions: 1) Is there a way to force an import to be generated? 2) How to declare an expression that gives me the right side of the Mapper assignment within the object model (so that an import of MapperSingleton gets generated. Any help appreciated...

  • Apache Cordova (Phonegap): is jsop needed for cross-site scripting?

    I've just started using Apache Cordova. I have an library that makes calls (via ajax) to a soap server. When I run these on my local machine in chrome, I get cross site scripting errors when trying to make calls to the service. When I run the same exact code using the Cordova browser in the iOS emulator, the scripts seem to hit the server fine and the response data is received properly. So my question is how is the Cordova browser able to make these requests without cross-site scripting permissions & JSONP ? One thing I noticed is that when the request is sent from iOS, there is no "Origin" header. Is this allowing the Cordova browser to stealthily circumvent cross-site scripting requirements? Is it possible that the node.js server on the device (I believe this is how Cordova works) is manipulating the headers to allow this? I'd like to avoid enabling cross-site scripting on my site so I think this "feature" is nice, but I'm wondering if it's a security hole as well. Anyone have experience with this?

  • How do I add jars needed to compile a maven project if they were never built with a pom?

    I'm just starting with maven, coming from years of working with Ant. I'm trying a basic task now, building a simple project that requires some libraries from a vendor. I have the jars in src\main\resources\VENDORNAME. When I run mvn compile it fails on compilation saying the libraries don't exist. I can't seem to add these as dependencies because I don't know their version number and as they are proprietary I can't find them in ibiblio or elsewhere. Without these Jars I can't compile my classes. Is there a way to use jars that didn't follow Maven's convention? I might not understand maven correctly, so any guidance is welcome. Much appreciated for any responses.

    Take a programmer that has never used source control, show them what it does, and their eyes light up... the benefits are obvious but until they actually see it most people had never considered the existence of such a tool. What other such things exist? Tools or approaches or techniques that aren't obvious before you encounter them, but once seen have obvious value. Things that are likely so ingrained in the way you work that it's hard to think of working without them, things almost embarrassing to bring up because you expect the other person to say "duh, that's obvious!" No matter how petty something seems there is a chance that other people don't know about it yet; I'd like to get an idea on what things I'm missing simply because I never thought of them.

  • Is it possible to Load hbm.xml info at app startup instead of via an embedded resource?

    All of the NHibernate examples I've see that use hbm files have the hbm.xml file set as an embedded resource with "do not copy" chosen in the file properties. This means that if a database column name were to change in production, the app would have to be recompiled with the changes in the hbm.xml file during build time. Is there any way to make NHibernate load the hbm.xml files from the file system at application startup instead of using an embedded version?

  • Get info from multiple files, match it and then display to end user, what is fastest?

    Hi, I need to build a website where we display data that is refreshed every 5minutes in a text file with a | separator. I currently use Java to do this. What I do now: I grab the textfile for every request through the website and process it and then display the data to the end user, this works fine, since Java can go through like 5000 lines of data fast, and when I filter it it is still extremely fast. However now the management wants the following: They added 3 textfiles with the | separator to it, and now want me to also read those files and match the information on certain fields, and if there is a match also display that information to the end user. I think soon enough, although Java is fast, I will run into trouble when 10 people want that information and I have to run through 4 total files matching the information. What can I do to make this process super fast? My Creative solutions so far: -Leave it this way, since Java is fast and end users can wait (probably less then 1second) -Have a background process that dumps new data into a MySQL database every 5minutes, since databases are extremely good at getting the same data from multiple tables.     Hi, I know there are already some questions about this, but not that specific. I have the self-paced training kit and worked through the test exam tool that is on the CD coming with the book. I constantly fail on the test tool, mostly on the regex questions. I'm not a regex guru. In fact my regex-fu is more than weak. I know what regex'es are, how I can use them and where my 'Regular expressions - kurz und gut' book is in my drawer in case I really need them. And to be honest I feel like learning regex is a total waste of time, because if I need them I have either a colleague that is fit and can do them in just a few seconds or I need my book and get them right in a still fair amount of time. And from my experience I can tell that I need regex like once in two or three years. So just putting in a lot of time into learning just the expressions to pass the exam is.. something I like not to have to do. Can you tell me something about the real exam vs. the test exam tool on the book and about the need to know regex for passing it? Thank you for your time. Marked as Community Wiki. Hope that fits?

    I'm planning on doing a lot of INSERT DELAYED into MyISAM tables. But the tables might not exist yet. Let's say e.g. a new table will exist for each day. So instead of detecting absence of table in my client and creating then retrying the insert, it seems like a good case for a stored procedure ("function"). Is this possible, and what would it look like? Are there any downsides to this approach?

    I need a little help putting together a SQL query that will give me the following resultsets: and The data model looks like this: The tricky part for me is that the columns to the right of the "Product" in the resultset are really columns in the database but rather key/value pairs spanned across the data model. Table data is as follows: My apologies in advance for the image heavy question and the image quality. This just seemed like the easiest way to convey the information. It'll probably take someone less time to write the query statement to achieve the results. By the way, the "product_option" table image is truncated but it illustrated the general idea of the data structure. The MySQL server version is 5.1.45.

I have two machines A and B: A: Client (behind NAT) B: Server (behind NAT) I want B to be able to listen on any given port, so that A can send packets to B through that specific TCP port and receive any response. If both machines are not behind a NAT it is pretty straight foward process. However how do I make it work so that it works even when B is behind a router, without him having to go change the router configuration enable some port forwarding etc...     Hi, for a long time, I am thinking and studying output of C language compiler in asemlber form, as well as CPU architecture. I know this may be silly to you, but it seems to me that something is very ineffective. Please, don´t be angry if I am wrong, and there is some reason I do not see for all these principles. I will be very glad if you tell me why is it designed this way. I actually trully believe I am wrong, I know the genius minds of people which get PCs together knew a reason to do so. What exactly, do you ask? I´ll tell you right away, I use C as a example: 1, Stack local scope memory allocation: So, typical local memory allocation uses stack. Just copy esp to ebp and than allocate all the memory via ebp. OK, I would understand this if you explicitly need allocate RAM by default stack values, but if I do understand it correctly, modern OS use paging as a translation layer between application and physical RAM, when adress you desire is further translated before reaching actuall RAM byte. So why don´t just say 0x00000000 is int a,0x00000004 is int b and so? And access them just by mov 0x00000000,#10? Becouse you wont actually access memory blocks 0x00000000 and 0x00000004 but those your OS set the paging tables to. Actually, since memory allocation by ebp and esp use indirect adressing, "my" way would be even faster. 2, Variable allocation duplicitly: When you run aaplication, Loader load its code into RAM. When you create variable, or string, compiler generates code that pushes these values on the top o stack when created in main. So there is actuall instruction for do so, and that actuall number in memory. So, there are 2 entries of the same value in RAM. One in fomr of instruction, second in form of actuall bytes in the RAM. But why? Why not to just when declaring variable count at which memory block it would be, than when used, just insert this memory location?

  • Preventing objects from being linked if they are not needed?

    I have an ARM project that I'm building with make. I'm creating the list of object files to link based on the names of all of the .c and .cpp files in my source directory. However, I would like to exclude objects from being linked if they are never used. Will the linker exclude these objects from the .elf file automatically even if I include them in the list of objects to link? If not, is there a way to generate a list of only the objects that need to be linked?
