  • GoDaddy Subdomain Hosting Issue/Question with Disk Access (C#/ASP.NET 3.5)

    This isn't a very complicated scenario really, but as I start to type out the problem I'm realizing how convoluted it can become textually. Let me try and be very clear: First, the set up... I have a C#/ASP.NET web application that is publicly facing on my main domain (www), let's call it www.mysite.com. Nothing fancy, just a front-end that connects to SQL to display records. Then, I have a second C#/ASP.NET web application that is secured using forms authentication running on a subdomain, let's call it admin.mysite.com. This is a very light-weight CMS system to administer the public site. Now, the problem... Both of these sites run fine for basic tasks, however, my problem arises when I try to gain access to the file system for uploading. GoDaddy requires subdomains to run as a virtual directories under the main application in IIS (so the subdomains actually resolve/re-direct to www.mysite.com/admin when you type in admin.mysite.com), but because of this I am unable to write to my website root from the subfolder. Let me explain a little more... The CMS system (running as a virtual directory) gives the admin the ability to upload photos for display on the main site, the target folder of which is www.mysite.com/images - when attempting disk access from the root app, I am able to write to the virtual directory, but cannot do the opposite -- that is, write to the root from the virtual directory, getting security violations. If I can only upload to the /admin/ virtual directory, the entire point is moot because it's a secured folder that the public can't see! The only solution I can think of is to upload the files to the /admin/ virtual directory, then call a URL in the root that moves files from /admin/ back to the root, but that is entirely ghetto. I hope this post makes sense. Anyone else experience anything like this? The bottom line is that it seems virtual directories ONLY have access to themselves, and not their parent directories, no matter what credentials are used. Thanks!

    I need some T-SQL that will show missing records. Here is some sample data: Emp 1 01/01/2010 02/01/2010 04/01/2010 06/01/2010 Emp 2 02/01/2010 04/01/2010 05/01/2010 etc... I need to know Emp 1 is missing 03/01/2010 05/01/2010 Emp 2 is missing 01/01/2010 03/01/2010 06/01/2010 The range to check will start with todays date and go back 6 months. In this example, lets say today's date is 06/12/2010 so the range is going to be 01/01/2010 thru 06/01/2010. The day is always going to be the 1st in the data. After downloading the "examples" dir into "C:/clojure", I typed: user (require 'examples.introduction) and I got ; Evaluation aborted. java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not locate examples/ introduction__init.class or examples/introduction.clj on classpath: (NO_SOURCE_FILE:0) My .emacs file looks like this: (setq swank-clojure-extra-classpaths (list "C:/Clojure")) The files in C:/Clojure are there (I triplechecked) Any help will be appreciated.

But following code works for showing ListView as I intended.     This looks simple but I am confused: The way I create a vector of hundred, say, ints is std::vector<int> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100); However, looking at std::vector's documentation I see that its constructor is of the form explicit vector ( size_type n, const T& value= T(), const Allocator& = Allocator() ); So, how does the previous one work? Does new call the constructor with an initialization value obtained from the default constructor? If that is the case, would std::vector<int, my_allocator> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100, my_allocator); where I pass my own allocator, also work?

    Recently I am having problems with installing rcov gem on my windows (vista Home Basic environment), so after googling I found one solution and that is gem install rcov -v 0.8.1.1.0 #version that installs without errors gem update rcov #update to the latest version, in my case rcov-0.8.1.2.0-x86-mswin32 But this solution didn't worked on my colleague's system (windows xp) and after that we came to know about RubyInstaller devkit for winddows But that dev kit is not working on my vista, when I tried gem install rcov in my command prompt, it game me this error, C:\Users\Vamsi>gem install rcov Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing rcov: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. D:/Spritle/Programs/Ruby/bin/ruby.exe extconf.rb creating Makefile nmake 'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Gem files will remain installed in D:/Spritle/Programs/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/ge ms/rcov-0.9.8 for inspection. Results logged to D:/Spritle/Programs/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rcov-0.9.8/ext /rcovrt/gem_make.out So after that my colleague tried to install nmake as well but it was throwing some other error. Can some one suggest a better solution for solving this problems for all windows environments? I am aware of cygwin for windows but I am not sure that is an 100% solution either.

    I'm starting a web application that contains the following projects: Booking.Web Booking.Services Booking.DataObjects Booking.Data I'm using the repository pattern in my data project only. All services will be the same, no matter what happens. However, if a customer wants to use Access, it will use a different data repository than if the customer wants to use SQL Server. I have StructureMap, and want to be able to do the following: Web project is unaffected. It's a web forms application that will only know about the services project and the dataobjects project. When a service is called, it will use StructureMap (by looking up the bootstrapper.cs file) to see which data repository to use. Let's assume that we've got a 2D world The world's size is M x N rect The world may contain some items in it The items have (x,y) coords The world can be browsed via a window that is physically (m x n) large. The browser window can be zoomed in / out The browser window can be panned up/down + left right, while in the extents of the world's rect. How should I go about implementing this? I'm especially concerned about the browser window. Can anyone recommend any good reads ? This is not a homework - it's more of a task which I've set myself to complete.

    Hi, I have 2 simple, but maybe tricky questions. Let´s say I have assembler instruction: MOV EAX,[ebx+6*7] - what I am curious is, does this instruction really actually translates into opcode as it stands,so computation of code in brackets is encoded into opcode, or is this just pseudo intruction for compiler, not CPU, so that compiler before computes the value in brackets using add mul and so, store outcome in some reg and than uses MOV EAX,reg with computed value? Just to be clear, I know the output will be the same. I am interested in execution. Second is about LEA instruction. I know what it does, but I am more interested wheather its real instruction, so compiles does not further change it, just make it into opcode as it stands, or just pseudo code for compiler to, again, first compute adress and than store it.

    I've not read the Modern C++ Design book but have found the idea of behavior injection through templates interesting. I am now trying to apply it myself. I have a class that has a logger that I thought could be injected as a policy.
