  • Packaging a qt application compiled with shared libraries

    Hi Geeks, I downloaded the qt embedded demo source code recently on my linux machine. Following are the outcomes during running of the program I compiled it statically on my x86 machine and run the application on x86 machine it runs fine. But when i took the statically compiled binary file to other machine with Atom platform It run with some missing widgets. I found that the plugins cant be ported with static compilation. Can anybody tell me is it true? If no can anybody tell me the steps for it? I compiled it dynamically with shared libraries. Then got an executalbe on linux. I did "ldd MyAppName". It show me the shared library files it is using. But I dont know how to package these. Can anybody tell me the steps to package it? I checked in the article on deploying qt applications on X11-linux platforms. But its not complete. Can anybody give me the detailed steps? Any help will be appreciated......

  • Trouble with data not saving with bindings and shared NSUserDefaults in IB

    I'm having a bit of a strange issue that I can't quite figure out. I'm somewhat of a n00b to Interface Builder. What I am trying to do seems like it should be simple, but it's not working for some reason. In interface builder I have a preferences window with a simple NSTextField. I have set the value binding to the Shared User Defaults Controller with the controller key "values" and model key "test". I build/run my app and open the preferences window, type some random value into said text field, close the window. Command-Q the app. Then in a shell i do a "defaults read com.xxx.yyy" for my app and the key and value are nowhere to be found. That being said, it seems like the next time I fire up the app and change the value it works but only if I switch focus off of the NSTextField before closing the window. In the documentation for NSUserDefaults it says that the shared controller saves values immediately, am I missing something stupid here? Thanks for any help.

  • IIS error hosting WCF Data Service on shared web host

    My client has a website hosted on a shared web server. I don't have access to IIS. I am trying to deploy a WCF Data Service onto his site. I am getting this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'IntegratedWindowsAuthentication, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used. I have searched SO and other sites quite a bit but can't seem to find someone with my exact situation. I cannot change the IIS settings because this is a third party's server and it is a shared web server. So my only option is to change things in code or in the service config.   • Create ABPerson Records in a Shared CardDAV (10.6/Server Hosted) AddressBook

    Hello, My app presently reads and writes to the local Mac OS X 10.6 client addressbook using the AddressBook.framework. It works fine. 10.6 Server introduced AddressBook Server, which 10.6 clients can connect to by setting up a CardDAV Account. User and Group records can be stored in that account, which is synchronized to the 10.6 server and made available to other clients who access the same CardDAV account. Mail.app is able to autocomplete the email addresses from accounts that are in the local datastore as well as the remote CardDAV datastore. ABPeoplePicker can see both. But, programatically, I'm not getting any CardDAV-based data returned from my queries against the shared AddressBook. I'm not sure if I need to ask it for a different AddressBook, or if I need to modify my fetch-request to indicate that I want it to be able to use the shared data too. My goal is to adapt the current code so that it can read/write to the CardDAV account too, instead of just the local addressbook. Thoughts?

  • Troubleshooting ASP .NET Application on Shared Hosting

    Hi, My company has a CRM site hosted externally on a shared server and recently it has been very problematic. Users are being logged out randomly, sometimes only seconds after logging in. We are also getting viewstate validation errors at times. Both problems seem to occur more often when there are two or more people logged in at the same time, but I can't really see any particular pattern. I am using log4net to track the application state and from what I can tell it seems that the application is frequently restarting, causing all sorts of issues. I can see log messages from the Application_Start event handler but there is not always a corresponding message from the Application_End event handler. There is also logging code in the Application_Error event handler but it is not catching anything at the time of the restart. These errors started to occur soon after we moved our site to this shared server, although I don't remember it being this bad at first. Any advice on how to track down these problems would be appreciated. The server is running Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0. Sadly I don't have access to the server other than through Parallels Plesk and it doesn't seem to have any useful diagnostic information.

    Using an installed trigger inside spreadsheet to call onUpdateBilling(). Purpose of this script is on edit, based on content of column "billed" (i.e. "d") will highlight the entire column the predetermined color. Page running script is shared with collaborators and they have been given edit access. My expectation at this point is the script should be run with owner permissions. My shared users are unable to run the script with the given error "You don't have permission for this action." Reached my limited knowledge and googlefu for this workaround. Any help to allow operation to my collaborators is appreciated.   • bin-deploying DLLs banned in leiu of GAC on shared IIS 6 servers

    I need to solicit feedback about a recent security policy change at an organization I work with. They have recently banned the bin-deployment of DLLs to shared IIS 6 application servers. These servers host many isolated web application pools. The new rules require all DLLs to be installed in GAC. The is a problem for me because I bin-deploy several dlls including the ASP.NET MVC Framework, HTML Agility Pack, ELMAH, and my own shared class libraries. I do this because: Eliminates web application server dependencies to the Global Assembly Cache. Allows me (the developer) to have control of what goes on inside my application. Enables the application to deployed as a "package". Removes application deployment burden from the server administrators. Now, here are my questions. From a security perspective what are the advantages to using the GAC vs. bin-deployment? Is it possible to host multiple versions of the same DLL in the GAC? Has anyone run into similar restrictions?

  • one table is shared between several websites

    I have a static table that's shared by several websites. By static, I mean that the data is read but never updated by the websites. Currently, all websites are served from the same server but that may change. I want to minimize the need for creating/maintaining this table for each of the websites, so I thought about turning it to an xml file that's stored in a shared library that all websites have access to. The problem is I use an ORM and use forign key constraints to ensure integrity of the ids used from that table, so by removing that table out of the MySQL database into an XML file, will this affect the integrity of the ids coming from that table? My table looks like this <table name="entry"> <column name="id" type="INTEGER" primaryKey="true" autoIncrement="true" /> <column name="title" type="VARCHAR" size="500" required="true" /> </table> and I use it as a foreign key in other tables <table name="refer"> <column name="id" type="INTEGER" primaryKey="true" autoIncrement="true" /> <column name="linkto" type="INTEGER"/> <foreign-key foreignTable="entry"> <reference local="linkto" foreign="id" /> </foreign-key> </table> So I'm wondering if I remove that table out of the database, is there a way to retain that referential integrity? And of course are these any other efficient ways to do the same thing? I just don't want to have to repeat that table for several websites.

  • Hiding instantiated templates in shared library created with g++

    I have a file that contains the following: #include <map> class A {}; void doSomething() { std::map<int, A> m; } When compiled into a shared library with g++, the library contains dynamic symbols for all the methods of std::map<int, A>. Since A is private to this file, there is no possibility that std::map will be instantiated in any other shared library with the same parameters, so I'd like to make the template instantiation hidden (for some of the reasons described in this document). I thought I should be able to do this by adding an explicit instantiation of the template class and marking it as hidden, like so: #include <map> class A {}; template class __attribute__((visibility ("hidden"))) std::map<int, A>; void doSomething() { std::map<int, A> m; } However, this has no effect: the symbols are still all exported. I even tried compiling with -fvisibility=hidden, but this also has no effect on the visibility of the methods of std::map<int, A> (although it does hide doSomething). The document I linked to above describes the use of export maps to restrict visibility, but that seems very tedious. Is there a way to do what I want in g++ (other than using export maps)? If so, what is it? If not, is there a good reason why these symbols must always be exported, or is this just a omission in g++?

  • Mercurial on shared network drive?

    Right now I have my repo on my local drive. In order to back it up, I have to copy .hg to a window's network drive. At Is it a good idea to put Mercurial Repository in shared Network drive?, Lasse Karlsen said the repo shouldn't be on a shared folder on a network server because "mercurial cannot reliably hold locks in all situations". Would this still be an issue when the repository is only updated by a single user? If so, can someone explain to me why the corruption happens? A while back our IT had problem setting up a mercurial server. I am very fond of mercurial (it has a great interface and is very easy to work with), but if it's going to be such a pain in the neck to set up for multiple users, I am willing to look for something else. Does anyone have any suggestions (with reasons)? I am looking for a revision control program that has the following attributes: 2. Good interface (allow you to easily see revision and changes to the code over multiple revisions). 3. Work as a local repo or a network repo. 4. IT will feel comfortable installing on their network. I would like the line from the log contain all the details returned regarding this "New Dir" or "Extra Dir" The reason for completing this task is to understand how two folder structures have change over time.   • Keep icons for shortcuts in thumbnail view?

    I want to keep icons for shortcuts in thumbnail view. eg: my pics folder is in thumbnail, but I want to easily see my familiar icons for shortcuts to various outside folders I drag the pics into, amongst the hundreds of pics and subfolders within my pics (which display the same as shortcuts at a glance) I had it like this on my last machine but I can't remember what I had to do. Reg tweak for filetype I think. (Using XPpro) Any clues? Thanks

    I have a laptop with a 250GB HDD. I have an existing installation of Kubuntu across three partitions (A 20GB one for /, 2GB for swap, and something like 97GB for /home). If I add another partition, use that as / for a Mint 13 install, and then use the existing /home partition as Linux Mint's home folder (different user names), are there any dangers (besides badly done partitioning, and other dumb things like that)?

  • How to load a library that depends on another library, all from a jar file

    I would like to ship my application as a self-contained jar file. The jar file should contain all the class files, as well as two shared libraries. One of these shared libraries is written for the JNI and is essentially an indirection to the other one (which is 100% C). I have first tried running my jar file without the libraries, but having them accessible through the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. That worked fine. I then put the JNI library into the jar file. I have read about loading libraries from jar files by copying them first to some temporary directory, and that worked well for me (note that the 100% C library was, I suppose, loaded as before). Now I want to put both libraries into the jar, but I don't understand how I can make sure that they will both be loaded. Sure I can copy them both to a temporary directory, but when I load the "indirection" one, it always gives me: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/.../libindirect.so: /libpure.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've tried to force the JVM to load the "100% C" library first by explicitely calling System.load(...) on its temporary file, but that didn't work better. I suspect the system is looking for it when resolving the links in libindirect.so but doesn't care about what the JVM loaded. Can anyone help me on that one? Thanks

  • How would I instruct extconf.rb to use additional g++ optimization flags, and which are advisable?

    I'm using Rice to write a C++ extension for a Ruby gem. The extension is in the form of a shared object (.so) file. This requires 'mkmf-rice' instead of 'mkmf', but the two (AFAIK) are pretty similar. By default, the compiler uses the flags -g -O2. Personally, I find this kind of silly, since it's hard to debug with any optimization enabled. I've resorted to editing the Makefile to take out the flags I don't like (e.g., removing -fPIC -shared when I need to debug using main() instead of Ruby's hooks). But I figure there's got to be a better way. I know I can just do $CPPFLAGS += " -DRICE" to add additional flags. But how do I remove things without editing the Makefile directly? A secondary question: what optimizations are safe for shared objects loaded by Ruby? Can I do things like -funroll-loops? What do you all recommend? It's a scientific computing project, so the faster the better. Memory is not much of an issue. Many thanks!

The number of the first cluster is 2-bytes value, that is stored in the 26th and 27th bytes of the folder enty (wich is 32 bytes). Lets say I am doing it with file, NOT a directory. The most desperate thing is that my tutor said smth like "You are going to obtain this or you wont pass this course". The true reason why he is so sure this is possible is because for 10 years (or may be more) he recieved the folder's first cluster number as a HASH of the folder's addres (and I was stupid enough to point this to him, so now I cant do it the same way) PS: This is the most spupid task I have ever had!!! This value is not really used anythere in program, it is only fcking pointless integer.

  • Cant turn off Redirected Access on Cluster Shared Volumes 2008r2 Failover clustering

    I read up on LH Mode and am still boggled what it is and what it does. I pass all validation on the Failover cluster wizard but in the Event Viewer I get erros for Event ID 5121 and 1034 related to one of the disks that is in the CSV for my hyper v machines. We have two disks in the CSV for our hyper V farm. Everything seems to work just fine but im worried about the even viewer errors. I have also read that people are having problems like I turning off Redirected access.
