    When I set a program to open a specific file type by default, it works (like Word 2013 for PDFs). However, when I change the default back to reader, I lose Word as an option that I can pick in the open with sub-menu. How can I get it to stick? Update: It seems that there is something special about word. Adding Notepad++ as the default and then changing it back seems to keep notepad++ on the sub-menu. Word version is 2013

  • Varnish, hide port number

    My set up is as follows: OS: CentOS 6.2 running on an OpenVZ virtual machine. Web server: Nginx listening on port 8080 Reverse proxy: Varnish listening on port 80 The problem is that Varnish redirects my requests to port 8080 and this appears in the address bar like so http://mysite.com:8080/directory/, causing relative links on the site to include the port number (8080) in the request and thus bypassing Varnish. The site is powered by WordPress. How do I allow Varnish to use Nginx as the backend on port 8080 without appending the port number to the address?   • Explode all folders

    Ive got a folder with about a hundred sub folders and again each ones of those has between 10 and 20 sub folders, so all in all a pretty large folder tree. Is there a simple way i can explode or export all of the files in the tree to a new folder which will just be one folder contain the files (no folders, no trees). Im running OSX 10.8, although ive also got Parallels so if there is a windows solution i could just run that as its not something i need to do everyday.

    From the PowerShell prompt: \Windows\system32\mspaint.exe will run Paint. So will Invoke-Expression -command "\Windows\system32\mspaint.exe" but if there is a space in the path PowerShell spits the dummy e.g. Invoke-Expression -command "\install\sub directory\test.bat" Which complains: The term '\install\sub' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. What am I missing?

I have a client from whom I have developed a PHP based Facebook project, who is hosting their site on IIS with ASP and no access to PHP, so they have created a sub domain to point to my server to host the site. I have an SSL on www.mydomain.com, but their sub domain does not have SSL (app.theirdomain.com). Would redirection from their side be possible to SSL on my side so that the FB app works?

How can I make a single SSL certificate for all sub domains within .example.com? P.S. Here is the extension part of the generated certificate: X509v3 extensions: X509v3 Basic Constraints: CA:FALSE X509v3 Key Usage: Digital Signature, Non Repudiation, Key Encipherment X509v3 Subject Alternative Name: DNS:*.example.com It's simply not matched by any sub-domain under example.com by the browser.

    After reading a bit about interVLAN routing got a doubt regarding how trunking takes place at router and at switch.In case of switch we configure a port interface as trunk port and say all vlan's are allowed here but in case of router we configure sub interface as trunk saying particular vlan belongs to particular subinterface .Can't we configure only a single port interface on router just like Switch and say all vlan's are allowed here on this interface ,why to go for sub interfaces?   • Windows 7 showing subfiles when saving files from internet?

    Within the last week, whenever I go to save a file from the internet when I save to "Documents" it doesn't show just what is in My Documents at the higher level, it shows all the contents of every sub-folder. I haven't changed any settings- how can I get this back to normal (so that files of sub-folders are not shown when saving)? I tried with both Chrome and IE so it's not the browser doing it. The problem seems to only happen with My Documents, no other folders like Downloads etc.

  • Why is my WCF RIA Services custom object deserializing with an extra list member?

    I have been developing a Silverlight WCF RIA Services application dealing with mock financial transactions. To more efficiently send summary data to the client without going overboard with serialized entities I have created a summary class that isn’t in my EDM, and figured out how to serialize and send it over the wire to the SL client using DataContract() and DataMember(). Everything seemed to be working out great, until I tried to bind controls to a list inside my custom object. The list seems to always get deserialized with an extra, almost empty entity in it that I don’t know how to get rid of. So, here are some of the pieces. Does it have anything to do with the other list of Transaction entities being serialized as part of the EconomicsSummary class (TotalAccountHistory)? Do I need to decorate the EconomicsSummary class members a little more/differently? -Second, where are the peculiar values coming from on that extra entity? PRE-POSTING UPDATE 1: I did a little checking, it looks like that last entry is the first one in the TotalAccountHistory list. Do I need to do something with CollectionDataContract()? PRE-POSTING UPDATE 2: I fixed one bug in TotalAccountHistory, since the objects weren’t coming from the database their keys weren’t unique. So I set the keys on the Transaction entities inside TotalAccountHistory to be unique and guess what? Now, after deserialization RecentTransactions contains all its original items, plus every item in TotalAccountHistory. I’m pretty sure this has to do with the deserializer getting confused by two collections of the same type. But I don’t yet know how to resolve it…

  • UINavigationController inside UINavigationController view issue

    I have two navigationcontrollers a main one and a sub one. The sub one is displaying inside the main one, which I am also hiding its navigationbar. as a result I am having some weird issues (things inside the view are being pushed down exactly the height of the navigationbar i am hiding) with the stuff I am displaying on the inside of the sub navigationcontroller. it looks like this.     I've created a Delegate that I intend to call Async. Module Level Delegate Sub GetPartListDataFromServer(ByVal dvOriginal As DataView, ByVal ProgramID As Integer) Dim dlgGetPartList As GetPartListDataFromServer The following code I use in a method Dim dlgGetPartList As New GetPartListDataFromServer(AddressOf AsyncThreadMethod_GetPartListDataFromServer) dlgGetPartList.BeginInvoke(ucboPart.DataSource, ucboProgram.Value, AddressOf AsyncCallback_GetPartListDataFromServer, Nothing) The method runs and does what it needs to The Asyn callback is fired upon completion where I do an EndInvoke Sub AsyncCallback_GetPartListDataFromServer(ByVal ar As IAsyncResult) dlgGetPartList.EndInvoke(Nothing) End Sub It works as long as the method that starts the BeginInvoke on the delegate only ever runs while there is not a BeginInvoke/Thread operation already running. Problem is that the a new thread could be invoked while another thread on the delegate is still running and hasnt yet been EndInvoke'd. The program needs to be able to have the delegate run in more than one instance at a time if necessary and they all need to complete and have EndInvoke called. Once I start another BeginInvoke I lose the reference to the first BeginInvoke so I am unable to clean up the new thread with an EndInvoke. What is a clean solution and best practice to overcome this problem?

    I define a method inside a parametrized role that needs to create a new class at run time using Moose::Meta::Class->create and apply that exact parametrized role to it. I am also making a new method for that role using $new_class->meta->add_method( some_name => sub { my ($self) = @_; ... }) inside the sub {...} I want to access a method of the consumer class and use it for something, I have tried using $self->get_method, it didn't work, how do I do this? Please notice that the $self inside the sub above is MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable I also have another question, if I do this: my $object = Moose::Meta::Class->create( "some_type", ); Why isn't $object of type some_type and it's some ugly MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable and how do I get to the object of type some_type?
