  • Can Log4net have multiple appenders write to the same file?

    I'm using a RollingFileAppender to log some info to a file with a conversionPattern (in the web.config) that looks like this for the header of each log section: <conversionPattern value="%date - %property{userId} - %property{method}%newline--------------------------------%newline%message%newline%newline"/> I'd like to log details under this header as bullet points. I'm currently trying to use another RollingFileAppender that logs to the same file with a simple conversionPattern of just a dash, like this: <conversionPattern value="- %message%newline"/> But these messages aren't making it into the log file. I'm using Log.Info() for the header and Log.Debug() for the bullet points and filtering each appender on their respective log levels. Is what I'm trying to do possible? Or is there a better way to get header and detail information into a log file from log4net?

I have some ideas on what to do: write a program which modifies the option set file, run this before batch build fiddle with the project files and modify the option set path to contain an environment variable, then have different option sets in different locations But before starting to reinvent the wheel I'd like to ask how you would tackle this task? Maybe there are already means meant to support such a case (like certain command line switches, things I could configure in Delphi or batch file magic).

  • Why would fopen fail to open a file that exists?

    I'm on Windows XP using Visual Studio 6 (yes I know it's old) building/maintaining a C++ DLL. I'm encountered a problem with fopen failing to open an existing file, it always returns NULL. I've tried: Checking errno and _doserrno by setting both to zero and then checking them again, both remain zero, and thus GetLastError() reports no errors. I know fopen isn't required to set errno when it encounters an error according to a C standard. Hardcoding the file path, which are not relative. Tried on another developers machine which the same result. The really strange thing is CreateFile works and the file can be read with ReadFile. We believe this works in a release build, however we are also seeing some very odd behaviour in other areas of the application and we're not sure if this is related. The code is below, I don't see anything odd it looks quite standard to me. The source file hasn't changed for just under half a year.   • Python - create blacklist file of IP addresses that have more than 5 failed login attempts in the au

    Basically I have an authlog/syslog file with a list of log in attempts and IP addresses - I need to make a Python program that will create a txt file with all the IP addresses that have more than 5 failed login attempts - a sort of "blacklist". So basically something like: if "uniqueipaddress" and "authentication failure" appear more than 5 times, add uniqueipaddress to txt file. Any help would be greatly appreciated - please try and make it simple as I am very, very inexperienced in programming in Python! Thanks.

  • Problems Using memset and memcpy

    So I am trying to create a Memory Management System. In order to do this I have a set amount of space (allocated by malloc) and then I have a function myMalloc which will essentially return a pointer to the space allocated. Since we will then try and free it, we are trying to set a header of the allocated space to be the size of the allocated space, using memset. memset(memPtr,sizeBytes,sizeof(int)); We then need to be able to read this so we can see the size of it. We are attempting to do this by using memcpy and getting the first sizeof(int) bytes into a variable. For testing purposes we are just trying to do memset and then immediately get the size back. I've included the entire method below so that you can see all declarations. Any help would be greatly appreciated!     If you do script src="/path/to/nonexistent/file.js" in an HTML file and call that in a browser, and there are no dependencies or resources anywhere else in the HTML file that expect the file or code therein to actually exist, is there anything inherently bad-practice about doing this? Yes, it is an odd question. The rationale is the developer is dealing with a CMS that allows custom (self-contained) javascript files to be provided in certain circumstances. The problem is the CMS is not very flexible when it comes to creating conditional includes for javascript. Therefore it is easier to just make references to the self-contained js files regardless of whether they are actually at the specified path. Since no errors are displayed to the user, should this practice be considered a viable option?

My question is, how do you calculate the correct starting sector for a partition on a LVM? This partition will be formated ext3. Would it be better to just format the LVM directly instead of creating a new partition?
