  • Why is IE8 rendering superfish menu wrong?

    I am useing the superfish jquery plugin If you view the superfish menu here: clicky the drop-downs show correctly (above the main content) in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE6, IE7 But for some reason they fall behind the main content in IE8. I already set the z-index for the superfish menu which IE7 wasnt working right until I did so, but it didn't fix IE8. Am I missing something?

    The page in question is featured here: http://www.allwebcafe.com/news/news-article.php?id=78 For some reason, when a user attempts to print any article of this type from a Webkit-based browser (I've confirmed this in both Safari and Chrome), the pages are all blank. On the flip side, everything behaves as expected in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Thoughts?

    Hi, I'm currently reaching the end of working through the K&R book "The C Programming Language", and I'm looking for things to read next. Any recommendations of: blogs more detailed / advanced books (I've already stuck Advanced Programming in a Unix Environment on my Safari bookshelf) open source code (beginner-friendly and with good C idioms or style) to read up on next would be gratefully appreciated.   • Inline base64 encoded link not working in Firefox

    I have this link: <a href="data:application/pdf;base64,JVBERi0x...KJSVFT0YK">PDF</a> In Safari on MacOsX, clicking the link instantly opens the PDF. In Firefox 3.6.2, it doesn't. When I choose Download, it saves it as "u7WYuJME.pdf(2).part", which is a valid PDF file. When I choose "Open with Preview", it downloads it but does not open it. Can I change something so that Firefox opens it correctly?

  • Why are these floats wrapping in Internet Explorer?

    My website, ReadyMadeWeb.com, looks great in FireFox, Safari, and Chrome, but of course IE has different plans for the floats used the in the #content area. You can see what I mean if you view the site in IE. The main column is pushed below the first sidebar. The content boxes and the de.licio.us sidebar both sit within another div. I have looked at overflow and clear settings, but changing those has not helped. Any ideas?

    We have a javascript funtion named "move" which does just "windows.location.href = any given anchor". This function works on IE, Opera and Safari, but somehow is ignored in Firefox. Researching on Google doesn't produce a satisfactory answer why it doesn't work. Does any javascript guru knows about this behavior, and what would be the best practice to jump to an anchor via javascript?

    This Wordpress site works fine in Firefox and Safari. However viewing in Explorer 7 (don't care about 6) breaks the header/navigation area.   • Is it possible to prevent just horizontal scrolling when overflow-x is hidden?

    I have a web page that has content which extends past the right edge of the browser window. I set overflow-x: hidden on <body> to turn off the bottom scrollbar, but I can still scroll horizontally with the trackpad, which is not what I want. Is there any way to prevent the browser from scrolling horizontally? As a side note: Safari 4.0.4 only scrolls horizontally sometimes, and the scrolling feels "sticky" and "jumpy," whereas Firefox always smoothly scrolls horizontally.
