  • Attribute class not calling constructor

    - by Coppermill
    I have created an Attribute, call MyAttribute, which is performing some security and for some reason the Constructor is not being fired, any reason why? public class Driver { // Entry point of the program public static void Main(string[] Args) { Console.WriteLine(SayHello1("Hello to Me 1")); Console.WriteLine(SayHello2("Hello to Me 2")); Console.ReadLine(); } [MyAttribute("hello")] public static string SayHello1(string str) { return str; } [MyAttribute("Wrong Key, should fail")] public static string SayHello2(string str) { return str; } } [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Method)] public class MyAttribute : Attribute { public MyAttribute(string VRegKey) { if (VRegKey == "hello") { Console.WriteLine("Aha! You're Registered"); } else { throw new Exception("Oho! You're not Registered"); }; } }

  • question about fgets

    - by user105033
    Is this safe to do? (does fgets terminate the buffer with null) or should I be setting the 20th byte to null after the call to fgets before i call clean. // strip new lines void clean(char *data) { while (*data) { if (*data == '\n' || *data == '\r') *data = '\0'; data++; } } // for this, assume that the file contains 1 line no longer than 19 bytes // buffer is freed elsewhere char *load_latest_info(char *file) { FILE *f; char *buffer = (char*) malloc(20); if (f = fopen(file, "r")) if (fgets(buffer, 20, f)) { clean(buffer); return buffer; } free(buffer); return NULL; }

  • C++: building iterator from bits

    - by gruszczy
    I have a bitmap and would like to return an iterator of positions of set bits. Right now I just walk the whole bitmap and if bit is set, then I provide next position. I believe this could be done more effectively: for example build statically array for each combination of bits in single byte and return vector of positions. This can't be done for a whole int, because array would be too big. But maybe there are some better solutions? Do you know any smart algorithms for this?

  • Which is better? private static vs private

    - by KiD0M4N
    In this code sample: public class SuperMan { private static bool IsProper(decimal x) { return x > 31.0m && x < 45.0m; } public bool CheckStuff(string a, string b, string c) { // lots of code, some of which introduces a variable x return IsProper(x) && /* other conditions */; } } Should IsProper(..) be a 'private static' or a 'private'. Assuming: IsProper(..) doesn't need to access any instance state.

  • i18n redirection breaks my tests ....

    - by Mike
    I have a big application covered by more than a thousand tests via rspec. We just made the choice to redirect any page like : / /foo /foo/4/bar/34 ... TO : /en /en/foo /fr/foo/4/bar/34 .... So I made a before filter in application.rb like so : if params[:locale].blank? headers["Status"] = "301 Moved Permanently" redirect_to request.env['REQUEST_URI'].sub!(%r(^(http.?://[^/]*)?(.*))) { "#{$1}/#{I18n.locale}#{$2}" } end It's working great but ... It's breaking a lot of my tests, ex : it "should return 404" do Video.should_receive(:failed_encodings).and_return([]) get :last_failed_encoding response.status.should == "404 Not Found" end To fix this test, I should do : get :last_failed_encoding, :locale => "en" But ... seriously I don't want to fix all my test one by one ... I tried to make the locale a default parameter like this : class ActionController::TestCase alias_method(:old_get, :get) unless method_defined?(:old_get) def get(path, parameters = {}, headers = nil) parameters.merge({:locale => "fr"}) if parameters[:locale].blank? old_get(path, parameters, headers) end end ... but couldnt make this work ... Any idea ??

  • Android/Java Beginner: Overriding ArrayAdapter's getView

    - by Preformed Cone
    Firstly I am new to android and Java so this is a beginners question. I have some code that overrides the ArrayAdapter's getView method. Here is the code public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { TextView label = (TextView)convertView; if (convertView == null) { convertView = new TextView(ctxt); label = (TextView)convertView; } label.setText(items[position]); return (convertView); } My question is: why does label.setText(items[position]); affect the convertView return value? How are they related / linked?

  • Bind multiple request parameters to one object in Spring 3

    - by Max
    Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? Thanks in advance.

  • Regex-expression with danish characters

    - by timkl
    I'm currently trying to wrap my head around regex, I have a validation snippet that tests an input box against a regex-expression: $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); That works well, but when I try to add a space and some special danish characters, it doesn't filter the danish characters, only the space. $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z æøåÆØÅ]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); Any ideas to what could be wrong?

  • How do you document anonymous functions ?

    I'm specifically referring to JavaScript anonymous function but this could be relevant to other languages. I like to use JSDoc notations in my scripts because I know other people will be hacking at it sooner or later. When i have pretty complex anonymous function how do people document it so that it gets picked up by Eclipse and other IDE's that understand JSDoc or JavaDoc notations? /** * Blah Blah blah * * @param Object Blah blah blah * @return Blah Blah Blah * @type Object */ function foo(this) { ...... this.bar = function () { ... complex code .....}; ...... return obj; } Thanks

  • Running out of memory with UIImage creation on an offscreen Bitmap Context by NSOperation

    - by sigsegv
    I have an app with multiple UIView subclasses that acts as pages for a UIScrollView. UIViews are moved back and forth to provide a seamless experience to the user. Since the content of the views is rather slow to draw, it's rendered on a single shared CGBitmapContext guarded by locks by NSOperation subclasses - executed one at once in an NSOperationQueue - wrapped up in an UIImage and then used by the main thread to update the content of the views. -(void)main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc]init]; if([self isCancelled]) { return; } if(nil == data) { return; } // Buffer is the shared instance of a CG Bitmap Context wrapper class // data is a dictionary CGImageRef img = [buffer imageCreateWithData:data]; UIImage * image = [[UIImage alloc]initWithCGImage:img]; CGImageRelease(img); if([self isCancelled]) { [image release]; return; } NSDictionary * result = [[NSDictionary alloc]initWithObjectsAndKeys:image,@"image",id,@"id",nil]; // target is the instance of the UIView subclass that will use // the image [target performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateContentWithData:) withObject:result waitUntilDone:NO]; [result release]; [image release]; [pool release]; } The updateContentWithData: of the UIView subclass performed on the main thread is just as simple -(void)updateContentWithData:(NSDictionary *)someData { NSDictionary * data = [someData retain]; if([[data valueForKey:@"id"]isEqualToString:[self pendingRequestId]]) { UIImage * image = [data valueForKey:@"image"]; [self setCurrentImage:image]; [self setNeedsDisplay]; } // If the image has not been retained, it should be released together // with the dictionary retaining it [data release]; } The drawLayer:inContext: method of the subclass will just get the CGImage from the UIImage and use it to update the backing layer or part of it. No retain or release is involved in the process. The problem is that after a while I run out of memory. The number of the UIViews is static. CGImageRef and UIImage are created, retained and released correctly (or so it seems to me). Instruments does not show any leaks, just the free memory available dip constantly, rise a few times, and then dip even lower until the application is terminated. The app cycles through about 2-300 of the aforementioned pages before that, but I would expect to have the memory usage reach a more or less stable level of used memory after a bunch of pages have been already skimmed at fast speed or, since the images are up to 3MB in size, deplete way earlier. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

  • error C2065: 'CComQIPtr' : undeclared identifier

    - by Ken Smith
    I'm still feeling my way around C++, and am a complete ATL newbie, so I apologize if this is a basic question. I'm starting with an existing VC++ executable project that has functionality I'd like to expose as an ActiveX object (while sharing as much of the source as possible between the two projects). I've approached this by adding an ATL project to the solution in question, and in that project have referenced all the .h and .cpp files from the executable project, added all the appropriate references, and defined all the preprocessor macros. So far so good. But I'm getting a compiler error in one file (HideDesktop.cpp). The relevant parts look like this: #include "stdafx.h" #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN #include <Windows.h> #include <WinInet.h> // Shell object uses INTERNET_MAX_URL_LENGTH (go figure) #if _MSC_VER < 1400 #define _WIN32_IE 0x0400 #endif #include <atlbase.h> // ATL smart pointers #include <shlguid.h> // shell GUIDs #include <shlobj.h> // IActiveDesktop #include "stdhdrs.h" struct __declspec(uuid("F490EB00-1240-11D1-9888-006097DEACF9")) IActiveDesktop; #define PACKVERSION(major,minor) MAKELONG(minor,major) static HRESULT EnableActiveDesktop(bool enable) { CoInitialize(NULL); HRESULT hr; CComQIPtr<IActiveDesktop, &IID_IActiveDesktop> pIActiveDesktop; // <- Problematic line (throws errors 2065 and 2275) hr = pIActiveDesktop.CoCreateInstance(CLSID_ActiveDesktop, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER); if (!SUCCEEDED(hr)) { return hr; } COMPONENTSOPT opt; opt.dwSize = sizeof(opt); opt.fActiveDesktop = opt.fEnableComponents = enable; hr = pIActiveDesktop->SetDesktopItemOptions(&opt, 0); if (!SUCCEEDED(hr)) { CoUninitialize(); // pIActiveDesktop->Release(); return hr; } hr = pIActiveDesktop->ApplyChanges(AD_APPLY_REFRESH); CoUninitialize(); // pIActiveDesktop->Release(); return hr; } This code is throwing the following compiler errors: error C2065: 'CComQIPtr' : undeclared identifier error C2275: 'IActiveDesktop' : illegal use of this type as an expression error C2065: 'pIActiveDesktop' : undeclared identifier The two weird bits: (1) CComQIPtr is defined in atlcomcli.h, which is included in atlbase.h, which is included in HideDesktop.cpp; and (2) this file is only throwing these errors when it's referenced in my new ATL/AX project: it's not throwing them in the original executable project, even though they have basically the same preprocessor definitions. (The ATL AX project, naturally enough, defines _ATL_DLL, but I can't see where that would make a difference.) My current workaround is to use a normal "dumb" pointer, like so: IActiveDesktop *pIActiveDesktop; HRESULT hr = ::CoCreateInstance(CLSID_ActiveDesktop, NULL, // no outer unknown CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IActiveDesktop, (void**)&pIActiveDesktop); And that works, provided I remember to release it. But I'd rather be using the ATL smart stuff. Any thoughts?

  • do I need to use partial?

  • SQL Split function.

    - by Wardy
    Hi guys, I'm looking for a way to do this ... SELECT FirstName, LastName, Split(AddressBlock, ' ', 1), Split(AddressBlock, ' ', 2), PostCode FROM Contacts The arguments I want to pass are ... The address The separator (current situation requires 2 spaces but this might be a comma or a space followed by a comma) or something else (it varies). The address part I want to return (i don't always need all parts of the split result). I seem to be able to find a few examples of splitting functions about the internet but they return a table containing the entire set of split parts. My SQL skills aren't that great so I need the answer to be ultra simple. I'm always working with nvarchar data and the function needs to be reusable.

  • NHibernate - Mapping tagging of entities

    - by ZNS
    Hi! I've been wrecking my mind on how to get my tagging of entities to work. I'll get right into some database structuring: tblTag TagId - int32 - PK Name tblTagEntity TagId - PK EntityId - PK EntityType - string - PK tblImage ImageId - int32 - PK tblBlog BlogId - int32 - PK class Image Id EntityType { get { return "MyNamespace.Entities.Image"; } IList Tags; class Blog Id EntityType { get { return "MyNamespace.Entities.Blog"; } IList Tags; The obvious problem I have here is that EntityType is an identifer but doesn't exist in the database. If anyone could help with the this mapping I'd be very grateful.

  • localhost not going to desired VirtualHost

I'd like to visit the site I'm currently working on from a different PC using the my comp's ip address, but every config i've tried keeps taking me to a different virtual host (in fact the first virtualhost I set up on my comp). How do I set up the apache virtualhost configs to ensure that the ip address takes me to the site I want it to. /etc/apache2/sites-available/site-i-want-to-show-up-with-ip-address.conf contains: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerAlias currentsite.com DocumentRoot /path/to/root/of/site-i-want-to-show-up ServerName localhost ScriptAlias /awstats/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ CustomLog /var/log/apache2/current-site-access.log combined </VirtualHost> And /etc/apache2/sites-available/site-that-keeps-showing-up.conf contains: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerAlias theothersite.com DocumentRoot /path/to/it <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> </VirtualHost> I'd appreciate anyone's help. Also, I don't know too much about configuring web servers, and I used tutorials to get the above code.

  • How to make a loop over all keys of a HashMap?

    - by Roman
    I try to do it in the following way: public String getValue(String service, String parameter) { String inputKey = service + ":" + parameter; Set keys = name2value.keySet(); Iterator itr = keys.iterator(); while (itr.hasNext()) { if (inputKey.equal(itr.next())) { return name2value.get(inputKey); } return ""; } } And I get an error message: cannot find symbol method.equal(java.lang.Object). I think it is because itr.next() is not considered as a string. How can I solve this problem? I tried to replace Set keys by Set<String> keys. It did not help.

Are all those necessary? Also for sanitizing, I use prepared statements to prevent sql injections. I would use it like this: $variable = sanitizeString($_POST['user_input']); $variable = sanitizeMySQL($_POST['user_input']);

  • Use LINQ and lambdas to put string in proper case

    - by Tobias Funke
    I have this function called ProperCase that takes a string, then converts the first letter in each word to uppercase. So ProperCase("john smith") will return "John Smith". Here is the code: public string ProperCase(string input) { var retVal = string.Empty; var words = input.Split(' '); foreach (var word in words) { if (word.Length == 1) { retVal += word.ToUpper(); } else if (word.Length > 1) { retVal += word.Substring(0, 1).ToUpper() + word.Substring(1).ToLower(); } retVal += ' '; } if (retVal.Length > 0) { retVal = retVal.Substring(0, retVal.Length - 1); } return retVal; } This code workds perfectly, but I'm pretty sure I can do it more elegantly with LINQ and lambdas. Can some please show me how?

  • Hash 32bit int to 16bit int?

    - by dkamins
    What are some simple ways to hash a 32-bit integer (e.g. IP address, e.g. Unix time_t, etc.) down to a 16-bit integer? E.g. hash_32b_to_16b(0x12345678) might return 0xABCD. Let's start with this as a horrible but functional example solution: function hash_32b_to_16b(val32b) { return val32b % 0xffff; } Question is specifically about JavaScript, but feel free to add any language-neutral solutions, preferably without using library functions. Simple = good. Wacky+obfuscated = amusing.
