• Can nohup change the result of a C++ code?

  I am having this very weird behaviour with a C++ code: It gives me different results when running with and without 'nohup' (reproducible in cygwin and linux). I mean, if I get the same executable and run it like './run' or run it like 'nohup ./run out.log', I get different results! I use std::cout to output to screen, all lines ending with endl; I use ifstream for the input file; I use ofstream for output, all lines ending with endl. I am using g++ 4. Any idea what is going on?

• Apache crashes after installing mysqli

  System: Apache 2.2 running on Windows 2008 Server with PHP 5.2.17 VC6 Thread-Safe as a Module and MySQL 5.5.17 - all working fine. After installing mysqli using the php package, Apache won't start anymore. There is no error message in the log. What I have tried: Make sure Windows PATH points to libmysql.dll: Yes, done. Make sure extension_dir points to the right point: Yes. Other extensions load fine. Try without mysqli: Yes, Apache loads fine then. Try without mysql: Yes, does not help. Test mysql itself: Restarts server! Overwrite libmysql: Yes, does not help. It seems to me that there is some general problem with MySql, but the DB server seems to be running fine. I'm really out of ideas of things I could try, so I'm desperate for any hints or tricks.

  Hello, I want to create a new customevent log ( "My EeventLog") on a remote machine. createEventSource(String,String,String) method was perferct for my need. Unfortenatly, this method is Obsolete. My questions is: the two other alternatives don't allow evenlog creation over a remote machine (correct me if I'm wrong). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.diagnostics.eventlog.createeventsource.aspx So, my easiest way to do it- is be created a new exe and run it remotely with Psexe. right?   I'm trying to use the below code to fetch a regular expression like this /[computer]{3,8}/(what i think is any words containing the letters in computer ranging from 3 to 8 letters long) from a database (which i know is being loaded correctly). When i fetch, i get 10 results, all the same word...   Hi all, I am currently having a problem since the DB has been changed. I am using Datasets for a c# application, and there is a user management system. For the security issues, our current DB design is like user log into app. DB returns a session ID On use of any other stored procedures, a session ID must be specified. BUT, the DB didn't request session ID before. since I am using the datasets, I used update/insert/delete stored procedures with "TableAdaptor Configuration Wizard". Bind Commands to Existing Stored Procedures (choose stored procedures to call and specify any reuiqred parameters) Now, it seems like I have to specify session ID for Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures. How do I specify session ID parameter here? It seems like I have to pick one return parameter variable from a select statement. Thanks,

• Cannot attach to a service in VS 2008

  I have created a service in VS 2008 called EmailReader. I have compiled, installed and started the service. Its timer loop is writing records to a log file, so I can see that it is running. I am trying to attach to it in VS 2008, but the process name is greyed out in the list of available processes, and the name is "EmailReader.vshost.exe" instead of "EmailReader.exe". There is probably a simple answer, but I don't know it. Do you?

  Are you able to use open id to log into the local development server with google app engine sdk version 1.4.1 and python 2.5? When I execute this self.redirect(users.create_login_url(continue_url, None, openid_url)) I get redirected to http://localhost/_ah/login rather than the openid url. The openid url and continue url are valid. My app.yaml looks like this - url: /_ah/login_required script: do_openid_login.py - url: /users/(.*) script: routers/user_router.py login: required If I browse to http://localhost/users/ I am also redirected to http://localhost/_ah/login rather than http://localhost/_ah/login_required Is there a config issue or does openid not work locally?

My question: How can that be done if I use the facebook SDK for ios? Looking at the SDK, there seem to be no notifications and no designated states that would allow me to detect that the sdk is about to background my app and about to opening either Safari or the Facebook app.

• Calling finish() After Starting a New Activity

  The first Activity that loads in my application is an initialization activity, and once complete it loads a new Activity. I want to ensure if the user presses 'Back' they go straight to the Launcher, and not the initialization screen. Side note, is this even the best approach, or would this be better done with some kind of Intent Flag? Is it correct to call finish() after calling startActivity() on the new activity? onCreate() { ... startActivity(new Intent(this, NextActivity.class)); finish(); ... } I'm still taking in the whole 'Message Queue' method of doing things in Android, and my assumption is that calling startActivity() and then finish() from my first Activity's onCreate() will log each respective message in the message queue, but finish execution of onCreate() before moving on to starting the next Activity and finishing my first one. Is this a correct understanding?

  My app has save login credential feature, so I store cookies for the next use after succeeding to sign in. However, after a time period, the session will be time out and cannot log in with the cookies any more.   TextView.contentSize.width does not work to set the UITextView's .frame.size.width. [TextView setFrame:CGRectMake(TextView.frame.origin.x, TextView.frame.origin.y, TextView.contentSize.width, TextView.contentSize.height)]; Setting the UITextView's frame height to the contentSize.height property works to make the view's frame scale to the proper size for the current vertical size of the content. For some reason, the width of the view's frame does not respond in the same way. It just remains the same size regardless of the amount of text input. When I log the contentsize of the UITextView dynamically, as I am typing in text to the view, the height property chnges, while the width does not. Makes me wonder what the width property is doing, what's it for.

I want to enable the user to control the debug level (0 - no debug, 1 - only critical errors ... 5 - informative debug information). The debug log is printed to a text file. In Windows, I can do it using a registry value (DWORD DebugLevel). What can be a good replacement which works also for Linux? (Without 3rd party tools, for example Linux "registry"). • MySQL Insert Query Randomly Takes a Long Time

  I am using MySQL to manage session data for my PHP application. When testing the app, it is usually very quick and responsive. However, seemingly randomly the response will stall before finally completing after a few seconds. I have narrowed the problem down to the session write query which looks something like this: INSERT INTO Session VALUES('lvg0p9peb1vd55tue9nvh460a7', '1275704013', '') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE sessAccess='1275704013',sessData=''; The slow query log has this information: Query_time: 0.524446 Lock_time: 0.000046 Rows_sent: 0 Rows_examined: 0 This happens about 1 out of every 10 times. The query usually only takes ~0.0044 sec. The table is InnoDB with about 60 rows. sessId is the primary key with a BTREE index. Since this is accessed on every page view, it is clearly not an acceptable execution time. Why is this happening? Update: Table schema is: sessId:varchar(32), sessAccess:int(10), sessData:text

  I am trying to launch MS Office through WINE using a PERL script hosted by apache and and triggered by other application. I am getting the following error message in log files "Application trying to create a window but no driver could not be loaded. Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly". If I run the script directly on shell prompt using root user then WINE starts XServer properly and execute MS MSoffice in addition to that if I set xhost +local:apache on shell prompt then also it works fine. How can I start the XServer from apache user?

If it's relevant, my virtuahosts file has ServerName abc.com and ServerAlias www.abc.com directives. I don't want my visitors to sense that both abc.com and www.abc.com exist, and so discovered Django's prepend_www setting, which works as intended. In addition to working as intended, however, there's a side effect that disables logging in and out when visiting the www. variant of my site.

• Prevent Apache from answering invalid requests

  I have an Apache web-server that acts as a web front-end for iPhone and iPad applications that communicate by POST and JSON only. Is there any way to prevent Apache from answering requests that are invalid? I can see my error log is filled with attempts to open files such as /admin.php /index.php etc - files that don't exist on my server. I believe this is possible with IIS, but can you do the same thing with Apache? Basically I want the request to appear timed out unless you post exactly the right content to the right file - or at least if you do not request an existing file. This would make the server appear non-existing to everyone but my iPhone users as all communication is SSL and directories are not really guess-able. I did disable the ServerTokens and all that, but I still get File not found etc. when I access the server requesting a random file, which is what these bots do constantly.

(we could simply log that error, while the exception propagate to a 500 page and disrupt our service)

• AdMob won't load programmatically

  I'm need to include ads into my app and I have a settings option to disable ads. so I need to load the ad in code. I copied the code from google to handle that and when I set ads:loadAdOnCreate to true, it works just fine. But if I set it to false and add the two lines AdView adView = (AdView)this.findViewById(R.id.ad); adView.loadAd(new AdRequest()); The ads stop displaying. If I look at log cat, it shows that it is receiving an ad and trying to display it. However it won't actually display on screen. Help?

  Hi ive got a log file containing trace routes and pings. Ive seperated these by using if(scanner.nextLine().startsWith("64 bytes"){} so i can work with just the pings for now. All im interested in from the ping is time=XX example data line = 64 bytes from ziva.zarnet.ac.zw (209.88.89.132): icmp_seq=119 ttl=46 time=199 ms I have been reading other peoples similar questions and im not sure how to apply to mine. I literally need just the number as i will be putting them into a csv file so i can make a graph of the data.
