• How to define a new type (class) in Python using C API?

  Hi, I am trying to use the Python C API to define a new class inside a module that would expose certain functionality written in C to Python code. I specifically want to have it in the form of a class and not a set of module functions. However, I can't find anything regarding this particular task in the official documentation. The closest I could find is PyClass_New function (in the Python.h header) but it is not mentioned anywhere in the official docs, so I assume it is not supposed to be used. So, what is the proper way to define a new Python class from C code? Thanks.

• simple search in rails

  Hi, I'm making a simple search form in rails. In my search view I have two select boxes with fixed values like: SELECT BOX 1 SELECT BOX 2 ALL, ALL, FR, FR, US, US, DE DE And I have 2 fields in my DB with country_from and country_to. So for making a simple search like from FR to US I use: @search_result = Load.find(:all, :conditions => "country_from='#{params[:country_from]}' AND country_to='#{params[:country_to]}'" ) that is fine, but I need to implement the ALL option as well, so when I make a search like from DE to ALL I get a list with all countries in country_to I image I can do it with ifs...but what would be the most efficient way to do it?

• Function for getting localized path?

  Windows 7 (and probably Windows Vista) display localized folder names using the LocalizedResourceName entry in the desktop.ini file. For my Documents folder, this looks like [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21770 IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-112 IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll IconIndex=-235 (see this question) This way the explorer displays the path "C:\Users\Username\Documents" as "C:\Benutzer\Username\Dokumente" on a german Windows. I wonder, if there's any build-in shell function to automatically get this localized name or, even better, transform a whole path into its localized form (best would be anything in .NET)? This is even more interesting as the LocalizedResourceName entry is only documented for Windows CE (see here). Thanks Martin

  This is how I got my php array to javascript echo 'var daysofweek = '.json_encode($daysofweek).';'; Now I am aware that json_decode can do the opposite, however the problem is I don't know the syntax to do so. I tried: <script> var array_days = new Array(); array_days[] = "psdfo"; array_days[] = "bsdf"; <?php $array_days = json_decode(?>array_days<?php);?> </script> yes im clueless. I forgot to mention that I want to send an array through post, having all my information regarding all the form values dynamically created by javascript. Otherwise, I wouldn't know which name="" to look for as it will be decided by the user. Unless someone else has an alternative solution...

If( authenticated == true) { // I do a redirect } else { // I want to popup an error message on the same page. } 1) I'm not sure how to show the popup message, I would like to make my div element visible with an error message returned from the server, I would have to use Ajax, right?   When using the browser back key on a page with radio buttons and using auto-postback, the state of the buttons (checked) stays the same while other parts of the page do not. • What's the best way to return something like a collection of `std::auto_ptr`s in C++03?

  std::auto_ptr is not allowed to be stored in an STL container, such as std::vector. However, occasionally there are cases where I need to return a collection of polymorphic objects, and therefore I can't return a vector of objects (due to the slicing problem). I can use std::tr1::shared_ptr and stick those in the vector, but then I have to pay a high price of maintaining separate reference counts, and object that owns the actual memory (the container) no longer logically "owns" the objects because they can be copied out of it without regard to ownership. C++0x offers a perfect solution to this problem in the form of std::vector<std::unique_ptr<t>>, but I don't have access to C++0x. Some other notes: I don't have access to C++0x, but I do have TR1 available. I would like to avoid use of Boost (though it is available if there is no other option) I am aware of boost::ptr_container containers (i.e. boost::ptr_vector), but I would like to avoid this because it breaks the debugger (innards are stored in void *s which means it's difficult to view the object actually stored inside the container in the debugger)

  I am writing a multi-threaded program using OpenMP in C++. At one point my program forks into many threads, each of which need to add "jobs" to some container that keeps track of all added jobs. Each job can just be a pointer to some object. Basically, I just need the add pointers to some container from several threads at the same time. Is there a simple solution that performs well? After some googling, I found that STL containers are not thread-safe. Some stackoverflow threads address this question, but none form a consensus on a simple solution.

Some users are pasting text into this field from Word documents with some weird characters that I don't want to go in my DB. (e.g. webding font characters) I'm trying to get a regular expression that would give me only the alphanum and the punctuation characters. • Seeking assistance with Escaping Data for MySQL queries

  Please don't send me a link to php.net referencing mysql_real_escape_string as the only response. I have read through the page and while I understand the general concepts, I am having some trouble based on how my INSERT statement is currently built. Today, I am using the following: $sql = "INSERT INTO tablename VALUES ('', '$_SESSION['Member1FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member1LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member1ID'], '$_SESSION['Member2FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member2LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member2ID'] .... and the list goes on for 20+ members with some other values entered. It seems most people in the examples already have all their data stored in an array. On my site, I accept form inputs, action="" is set to self, php validation takes place and if validation passes, data is stored into SESSION variables on page 2 then redirected to the next page in the process (page 3) (approximately 8-10 pages in the whole process). thanks!

I am trying to figure out if it possible to rejoin the branches (and not just for the last step.) e.g. Based on the inputs to Step 1, I'd like to present the user with a different step 2. However, after step 2, the remaining steps (step 3, 4, 5, etc.) should all be the same. How can this be done? Thanks!

• C# Console Application - Odd behaviour - char '\a'

  After extensive debugging of an application, I noticed the console window would hang when searching text for the char '\a'. The goal is to strip out characters from a file. The console window would always hang upon exiting the program, and it would make it to the last statement of main. I removed the '\a' from the switch statement and the console application does not hang anymore. Any idea why? • Modify input stream data on the fly

  I would like to implement a std::stream modifier/parser, that is doing data manipulation on the fly. Is it possible to create it in form of stream manipulator? For example, i want to strip all the line comments (from any // to the end of line) out of the stdin and pass it to stdout. string str; istream strippingCin = cin >> stripcomments; while(strippingCin.good()) { strippingCin >> str; cout << str; } There may be also a large file input instead of cin, so i don't want to load full stream data into memory at once. Is it possible without writing my own stream class? Maybe is there another route i should take instead?

  Hi I have created a Google Spreadsheet form in which for one of the fields I get the time (hh:mm:ss) in 24-hour format. I am using Google Apps Scripts to read values from this spreadsheet and put it into another file. But the other file gets the entire date (don't know from where) and shows a date from 1899. Also the time is shown in PDT (not my time zone).   Hello, When sending data from a form to a second page, the value of the session is always with the name "Array" insteed of the expected number. The data should get displayed in a table, but insteed of example 1, 2, 3 , 4 i get : Array, Array, Array. • Question creating PDF document in Zend Framework

  I need to take a ZF rendered view and create a PDF that should look pretty much exactly the same, and email it. The major issue I have right now is getting the HTML created by the view into a string that I can then process with the Zend_PDF::parse method. The view I need to turn into a PDF is the result of a posted form. I've tried grabbing the contents of ob_get_contents into a string after a successful post, but for some reason its not in there. Should I press on with this angle? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
