  • How can I tell if a set of parens in perl code will act as grouping parens or form a list?

    In perl, parentheses are used for overriding precedence (as in most programming languages) as well as for creating lists. How can I tell if a particular pair of parens will be treated as a grouping construct or a one-element list? For example, I'm pretty sure this is a scalar and not a one-element list: (1 + 1) But what about more complex expressions? Is there an easy way to tell?

  • Pressing back button in ActivityGroup causes it to pause, and then continue shutting down the next t

    Pressing the back button causes onPause to be called, and the app stays paused until it is re-launched by clicking on the icon, at which point, onDestroy gets called, and the main activity continues to shut down. Simple class to demonstrate. Note, as far as I can tell, this only happens on the Nexus One.   • Windows Phone - OnNavigatingFrom - problem

    I believe this is just a problem for me, due to my lack of programming ability. I am currently exploring transitions between page navigation with Windows Phone apps. I was originally using storyboards, and completed event handlers to have my pages animate on and off screen. These leads to the a problem when you want to navigate to many pages from one page, using the same transition. So I have started looking at OnNavigatedTo, and OnNavigatingFrom events and while it is working nicely for OnNavigatedTo, the later just wont work. It seems the Microsoft.Phone.Navigation assembly does not contain OnNavigatingFrom, and referencing System.Windows.Navigation, compiles ok, but I cant get pages to animate off upon navigation. I have a button on my Page2, which I want to go back to my MainPage (after I over-rided the back key with a message box for testing). I have transitions made on the page, and I have this as the event handler code... private void btnP2_BackToP1Clicked(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e) { NavigationService.Navigate(new Uri("/MainPage.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); } With this code for the OnNavigatedTo and OnNavigatingFrom events... protected override void OnNavigatedTo(PhoneNavigationEventArgs e) { PageTransition_In.Begin(); } // // protected override void OnNavigatingFrom(NavigatingCancelEventArgs e) { PageTransition_Out.Begin(); base.OnNavigatingFrom(e); } I have the feeling that OnNavigatingFrom may not(yet) be supported for Windows Phone Apps. OnNavigatedFrom is part of Microsoft.Phone.Navigation, but it only performs actions once the page is no longer active, which is too late to perform any animation effects.

    I have been wrestling this issue for a while now and cannot seem to get the following "touchesEnded" method to execute within a UISCROLLVIEW. I have read on many of the forums that UISCROLLVIEW will take control of all touch events unless it is subclassed, but I cannot seem to get the code right (still new to the SDK). Basically I have a scrollview made uo with several UIIMAGEVIEW's and currenlty have scrolling with paging (much like the photo app). I have been studying the SCROLLING MADDNESS example without success.   • How do I set default search conditions with Searchlogic?

    I've got a search form on this page: http://staging-checkpointtracker.aptanacloud.com/events If you select a State from the dropdown you get zero results because you didn't select one or more Event Division (checkboxes). What I want is to default the checkboxes to "checked" when the page first loads...to display Events in all Divisions...but I want changes made by the user to be reflected when they filter.   • window.location.href not working in Safari when using onkeypress

    I'm using an asp textbox and a search button. In Safari if I click the search button i get redirected to the search results page using javascript window.location.href. But strangely the same javascript will not redirect to the page if I press return in the textbox. Using the alert function I can see that window.location.href has the the correct url and the location bar at the top changes from the search page(default.aspx) to the search results url however when I click OK to the alert box the url at the top reverts back to the default.aspx page. It works on ie7/8/firefox/chrome but not safari.   • MS Access form_current() firing multiple times

    I have a form with two subforms (on separate tab pages). It's an MDB project in Access 2003. When it initially opens, Form_Current on the active subform fires once, as it should. But when you move to another record (ie. from the main form), it fires Form_Current on the active subform 4 times. Then subsequent record-moves result in Form_Current firing 2 times. This is a pain, because the subforms have a lot of fields that get moved and/or hidden and so it jumps around for every Form_Current, not to mention being slow. I am opening the form with a filter via DoCmd.OpenForm (actually it sends the filter in via OpenArgs). FilterOn is only set once, in Form_Open on the main form, never in the subforms. Form_Current is not called explicitly anywhere else in the code. When I look at the call stack when Form_Current fires moving the first time, it looks like: my_subform.Form_Current [<Debug Window>] my_subform.Form_Current So it seems like something in Form_Current is triggering another Form_Current event. But only on the first record move. The code in Form_Current is somewhat complex, involving custom classes and event callbacks, but generally does not touch the table data. The only thing I can think might be triggering a Form_Current is that it checks OldValue on form controls - could this be causing it? Or anything else come to mind? Thanks. Eric

My XML looks like this: <event value1="1" value2="2" value3="3" <info="some info here"/> Line 1.</lb> Line 2.</lb></lb> Line 3.</lb> Line 4.</lb> </event> My goal is to convert the </lb> nodes to </br> HTML tags using XSLT. There is one additional requirement to fulfill though. In case there is one </lb> directly following another </lb> I want to output only one </br>. My XSLT looks like this: <xsl:template match="lb"> <xsl:if test="not(preceding-sibling::lb[1])"> <br/> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> The problem with the XSLT above is that it works correctly for line 1 only as the text between both nodes is ignored. Maybe someone here can help.

  • Need Advice on designing ATL inproc Server (dll) that serves as both a soure and a sink of events.

    Hi, I need to design an ATL inproc server that besides exposing methods and properties, also can fire events (source) and serve as a sink for a third party COM control that fires events. I would assume that this is a fairly common requirement. I can also foresee several "gotchas" that I would like to read up on before commencing the design. My questions/concerns are: Can someone point me to an example? Which threading model to use? Should I have a seperate COM object for the sink? Should I, and how do I, protect certain memory. For example, my server will receive data from the third party control. It will save this, and in some cases, fire an event to interested clients. The interested clients will request the data through a standard method or property. I did try to research this myself. I can find many examples of COM servers that are soures, and some that are sinks, but never both.
