• Looking for a better alternative to linklabels

  Please see the two long linklabels below (please ignore the black lines above) Linklabels' length is made dynamically during runtime, and as seen, could be that it's too long and overlapping other text we have (there is another text where you see 'Differences'). My questions are: a) Can I limit the maximum length of a linklabel? b) Is that possible to use a scrollbar with a linklabel (or any similar control) in case that it's too long? e.g. setting it to 200 pixels, and in case it's longer, the user has to scroll the horizontal scroller and see end of the text. I'm using VB.NET on Visual Studio 2008 THANK YOU

• Imbedded wpf textbox does not accept input

  I put a wpf textbox inside a combobox to allow the user to enter a custom setting. I can read the keypress in the keydown event, but the text in the textbox does not change. However, the headerRow isn't working in FF, yet works well in IE. • iphone - Connecting to server in background

  I'm creating an app which connects to server and sends some text. If network (both wifi or 3g) is there, it will immediately send the text to server. But if there is no network, it keeps on polling for server connection every 5 minutes. All this part is working fine. But when using iPhone 4 device, i want the app to check for server connection even when app goes into background. So, when app goes to background and when network comes back, it must be able to send the text to server. How can I achieve it? I've seen some apps where they say that the app will upload photos to server even in background. How will they do it?

• UiScrollView with scrolling content

  I have a detail page of type UIScrollView. On it I want an optional UIImageView and a mandatory UITextView. If no image is available then the image view should not take any space. The text for the text view can be of varying sizes. When the view is loaded with, say, the image and the text I need to be able to scroll through all the contents. So the image slips off the top of the screen. I just can't get this work and I feel it ought to be easy. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I have one question. I try to develop a little WYSIWYG editor. I would like create a <h1> button which allows me to generate a <h1> title (by clicking on button after text selection in <p> element). I obtain the selection with window.getSelection().... But now, I would like to put my append("<h1>my text selected</h1>") just before the <p>. It’s my problem, because my <p> elements don’t have id or class. So do you know a means to put my append just before the <p> where my text has been selected? I don’t know if with my bad English you’ll understand me! Thanks very much for your help.

• Which Android hardware devices should I test on? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: What hardware devices do you test your Android apps on? I'm trying to compile a list of Android hardware devices that it would make sense to buy and test against if you want to target an as broad audience as possible, while still not buying every single Android device out there. I know there's a lot of information regarding screen sizes and Android versions available elsewhere, but: when developing for Android it's not terribly useful to know if the screen size of a device is 480x800 or 320x240, unless you feel like doing the math to convert that into Android "units" (i.e. small, normal, large or xlarge screens, and ldpi, mdpi, hdpi or xhdpi densities). Even knowing the dimensions of a device, you cannot be sure of the actual Android units as there's some overlap, see Range of screens supported in the Android documentation Taking into account the distribution of Platform versions and Screen Sizes and Densities, below is my current list based on information from the Wikipedia article on Comparison of Android devices. I'm fairly sure the information in this list is correct, but I'd welcome any suggestions/changes. • Flash Builder 4 "includeIn" property causing design view error

  I am creating a custom TextInput component that will define an "error" state. I have extended the TextInput class to change the state to "error" if the errorString property's length is greater than 0. In the skin class, I have defined an "error" state, and added some logic to detect the size and position of the error icon. However, if I have this code at the same time I use the "includeIn" property in the bitmap image tag, I get a design view error. If I either A) Only include that code with no "includeIn" property set, it works or B) dont include the code to set the icon size and position and only use the "includeIn" property, it works. Any ideas what could be causing the design view problem when I use both the "includeIn" property and the icon size/position code at the same time? • windows 8 installs fails to start

  I've been trying to follow Scott Hanselman's post on installing the Win8 RP on a vhd, using the win8 .iso on a dvd, but the install wont start. • How can I measure my (SAMP) server's bandwidth usage?

  I'm running a Solaris server to serve PHP through Apache. What tools can I use to measure the bandwidth my server is currently using? I use Google analytics to measure traffic, but as far as I know, it ignores file size. I have a rough idea of the average size of the pages I serve, and can do a back-of-the-envelope calculation of my bandwidth usage by multiplying page views (from Google) by average page size, but I'm looking for a solution that is more rigorous and exact. Also, I'm not trying to throttle anything, or implement usage caps or anything like that. I'd just like to measure the bandwidth usage, so I know what it is. An example of what I'm after is the usage meter that Slicehost provides in their admin website for their users. They tell me (for another site I run) how much bandwidth I've used each month and also divide the usage for uploading and downloading. So, it seems like this data can be measured, and I'd like to be able to do it myself. To put it simply, what is the conventional method for measuring the bandwidth usage of my server?

  I have an arrayList and I would like to take the size of the ten arrayList elements and use the sizes to create a histogram. I understand processing coordinate system starts in the top left corner. My question is, how do I use the arrayList.size() values to start at 450 (based from a 500,500 window) and go upwards from there to create my histogram. • Refreshing the asp.net web page after validation

  Hi, I have an asp.net web page (C# 2008) where the user would enter an EmployeeID, and when they tab out of the textbox, they get a messagebox prompting them to select one of two values from a dropdown listbox. The code for the message prompt in the codebehind is : Response.Write("<script>window.alert('Please select Alpha or Beta')</script>"); After the prompt is displayed, and the user clicks "ok" and returns to the page, the text on the page appears distorted (the text in labels are a size larger, the labels get wrapped to another line etc) I tried putting a Response.Redirect("UserProfileMaint.aspx"); after the messagebox in the codebehind, but now, the messagebox does not appear; I want to display the messagebox validation, and ensure the appearance of the text on the page is not distorted. How can I do this?

The html is user defined, do please do not ask me to add them statically on the aspx page. On my page, I have a placeholder and I can use LiteralControl target = new LiteralControl (); // html string contains user-defined controls target.text = htmlstring to render it property. My problem is, since its a html piece, even if i know the input box's id, i cannot access it using FindControl("ViewTitle") (it will just return null) because its rendered as a text into a Literal control and all the input controls were not added to the container's control collections. I definitely can use Request.Form["ViewTitle"] to access its value, but how can I set its value?

  Hi everybody! I am loading an xml in php via simplexml_load_file(). I load the file with that: $xml = simplexml_load_file('flash/datas/datas.xml'); And the access my content like that: $descText = $xml->aboutModule->chocolaterie->desc The text from desc is well registred in my $descText, but all the <br/> of the text disappear... So my long text is on a single line, not so good :-/ Do you know how to solve that? Is there a special traitement to do one the $xml var? Or someting else? Thank you in advance for your help!
