    Is it possible, to achieve the proposed behavior on my FreeBSD 8.2 server: New user ssh's into my server. He supplies as 'Login:' his student index number and a new, locked account is created with random password that is sent to his [email protected] mail as authentication method. After he logs in with this password, account is fully created and activated/unlocked and the user is asked/forced to change the pass for a new one.

    Win 2003, PHP 5.2.1 and IIS 6. I have PHP configured as ISSAPI and it is serving PHP pages. When I try a page that requires MySQL I am getting just: PHP has encountered an Access Violation at (and a RANDOM number) What is all. Google has not provided me with results that help me fix. Does anyone have any thoughts?

    I have a number of User Defined Data Collector Sets running on a Windows 2008R2 server, collecting perfmon stats from various servers. Whenever there is a network interruption, or a server rebooted (at worst, when the server which is running all these DCSs is rebooted), I have to manually restart some or all of the Data Collector Sets. Is there a way to configure them to automatically restart, or otherwise be more resilient?

    I have files with naming convention of this pattern: bond_7.LEU.CA.1.dat bond_7.LEU.CA.2.dat bond_7.LEU.CA.3.dat bond_12.ALA.CB.1.dat bond_12.ALA.CB.2.dat bond_12.ALA.CB.3.dat ... I want to concatenate all files of the same group into a single one. For example: cat bond_7.LEU.CA.*.dat > ../bondvalues/bond_7.LEU.CA.1_3.dat There's large number of these files. How can achieve this with a bash script?

    Although iTunes produces a very good comprehensive listing of all music which can be copied and pasted into excel to give a database of music, unfortunately it does not include"where" information as shown on the "Get Info" summary. As, in my own case, music files are in a number of different locations(drives and folders) I would like to be able to identify, quickly and simply,duplicate tracks as the last column in the excel listing. Is there a way to do this?

    I am using gnuplot (Version 4.4 patchlevel 2) to generate rowstacked histograms, very similar to the example called "Stacked histograms by percent" from the gnuplot demo site at http://www.gnuplot.info/demo/histograms.html I want to display the values of each stacked box within it. I.e. I want to display the actual numerical value (in percent and/or the absolute number) of each box. How can I do that?

    Generally most of routers like cisco and junos allow a router to have dual-As to be configured via a "local-as" command which overrides the global as-number configured in "router bgp ". Also local-as prepending may or may not happen based on configurations; for example "no-prepend" in cisco. Now my question is, is there any RFC which which standardises this Dual-As support?? Which provides guidelines on whether or not to prepend the "local-as" to As-Path attributes in the Bgp updates ?

  • how to close open ftp connections?

    I use FileZilla, and I thought when a session ended, it automatically closed the ftp connection, but that doesn't appear to have happened because now I'm getting a "530 Sorry, the maximum number of connections (10) for your host are already connected." error. Is there a way to find any open ftp connections and close them from my end? Or, do I have to contact the host?

As I, currently, understand, Google Chrome puts bookmarks seperatly from Google Bookmarks, which is accessible in Firefox by using Google Toolbar for Firefox. Right?     Someone just asked me 'how long should we keep logs for our application', and my answer was 'until the disk is full' as there's no reason to throw them away other than running out of space. However, standard logrotate wants us to specify a specific period + number of rotations. Is there something similar that would let us say "rotate daily, and keep as much history as you like until there is only 5% space free"? The platform is Redhat Linux.

They used to run and end without abending, but now they open and stay open and I have to setup the task to quit them by force before their next scheduled run. First, I used this command within Vim to set Vim as default editor for massren :! c:\tools\massren_renamer\massren.exe --config editor "C:\Progra~2\Vim\vim74\gvim.exe --remote-silent-tab" Then I tried to change a number of text files with this command within Vim: :%! c:\tools\massren_renamer\massren.exe d:\t*.txt but the list of files doesn't open at all in Vim. What did I wrong?

    Per DISA hardening requirements for RHEL, I'm supposed to make sure a number of locations on the filesystem are mounted on separate partitions. A few of the locations they specify include /var /tpm /var/log etc. Is it possible to go about doing this on a live machine (without booting a separate OS)? And how would I go about doing that. I've backed up the OS so if I do screw something up I can recover. Thanks!
