Dynamic content in a Gridview

I have a gridview with couple of columns,I want to achieve the following: If user is NOT authorized display normal columns. If user IS authorized: set mouseover event for first column text and display some buttons (that are not available for NOT authorized users) in a second column when user hover over(using javascript) the first column. I am have 2 difficulties: The first one where and when should I create the buttons? I have 2 options, I can create those button on design time, in gridviews template and just set Visible value to false and then in codebehind set it to true if user is authorized. The second option would be creating this buttons dynamically in gridview_RowCreated event (or any other event) if user is authorized. The Second difficulty is setting the javascript event to show the buttons, the event should be added only if user is authorized! Note that event and buttons should have some kind of id match for Javascript function to know what should it hide/unhide when event is triggered. What should I do, what is the best practice? I know this is a long question, but please try to help :)

Issue with changing an attribute with jquery

Hello, I'm having an issue with changing the attribute for an id and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I guess it doesn't help that I'm new to this also. I have a function that tests to make sure that I am pulling the correct id from the row in my form that I have dynamically created. It goes something like this: myFunction() { var id = $(id).attr("id"); alert("This is my id " + id); } This works with no problem and when I click the button assigned to alert me of my id it will give give me the id of the dynamic row in my form. The issue is now when I try to change the id with this: changeId() { var newId = $(id).attr("id", "x"); alert("This is my new id " + newId); } What happens in this case is that it will alert saying "This is my new id [object Object]" instead of giving me the new id. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help with this.

How to prevent onclick statements from being executed?

I want to use an event listener for preventing the onclick statement of a submit button, however, using event.preventDefault() doesn't work as intended. Hey, i have question related to CoreData. My iphone project has 2 Entities, Organisation and Brand with a 1 to many "BrandsToOrg" relationship and inverse. So my project has a Mapview, where you can see all the Organisations and a little subview when you click on those Organisations.At the subview there is a "show Brands" Button, which should init a new TableView who only shows the brands belong to the seleceted organisation. I am writing a shooting game in cocos2d. And each enemy enters the screen after the current one is dead. I have stores the enemies and their properties in plist. I need to save the current state of the game. If any phone call comes the game should be started from the current state. And when I touched the game icon on the screen the game is running from first screen and in log (terminal )it is not showing any values. And what should I store to resume my game from stored state. How do I access a <form> that is not the master page <form>?

Winforms developer converting to web developer. I know the part about the Master Page having the tag, what is not clear is if I can or can not have another in one of my content pages. I have been seeing both answers doing searches. I see yes you can if only one has runat=server. The thing is I have a that contains several radio buttons on a web page that has a master page. I have a .js file that has a function if I send the name into it, it will loop thru the controls in the form to see which one is selected and return the desired date horizon(MTD, QTD, YTD, etc.). When I run this on a non master page web page it works fine. However, when I run on a web page that has a master page I can't seem to get to the element. I tried getElementByID, I tried looping through the page elements, etc. Maybe I am going about this incorrectly and I hope someone can straighten me out. Here is the code from my .js file that may help explain what I am trying to do a little better. var frmDateRanges = document.getElementById(formFieldName); var chosen; var len = frmDateRanges.DateRanges.length; for(i=0;i<len;i++) { if(frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].checked) { chosen = frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].value; } } where formFieldName is an arguement that is passed into the function and DateRanges is the name value given to the radio buttons. In the button I call this function I have: onclick ="FunctionCall('frmDateRanges')" FunctionCall is just for description purposes, 'frmDateRanges' is the name and id given to the form action="" Thanks for the help as I am stumped at this point. If there is a better way to do this please let me know that as well.

Allowing Xform controls for optional XML elements

Hi, In designing an XForm interface to an XML database (using eXist and XSLTForms), I'd like to include an input control for an optional element. The XML data records already exist and while some contain the optional element, others don't. To update a record, I'm using the existing XML record as the model instance. The problem is that the form control is not displayed when the optional element is not present, which is logical, but presents a problem when a user wants to add data to the optional element. To be more explicit, here's an example data record, data.xml: <a> <b>content</b> </a> with RNC schema: start = element a { element b { text }, element notes { text }? } XForms model: <xf:model> <xf:instance xmlns="" src="data.xml"/> <xf:submission id="save" method="post" action="update.xq" /> </xf:model> And control: <xf:input ref="/a/notes"> <xf:label>Notes (optional): </xf:label> </xf:input> The problem is that the 'Notes' input control is simply not displayed. An obvious solution is to add a trigger button to allow the user to insert the element if needed, but it is preferable to just have the input control appear, and be empty. My question is: is there some subtle combination of lesser-know attributes/binds/multiple instances/xpath expressions that will cause the control to always be displayed? Thanks

How to find out style of NSUserNotification during run-time? Or force close an alert?

According to "OS X Mountain Lion Release Notes" (https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#releasenotes/Cocoa/Foundation.html), "The user has ultimate control over what notifications are displayed, and the style (banner, alert, etc). There is no mechanism to override the user preferences." Even though all I want to do is "downgrade" from alert style to banner style... Fine. But can I at least find out whether a notification is of alert or banner style inside the didActivateNotification method? The reason I want to do that is to respond differently according to notification.activationType. When the alert is a banner (which is what I want), clicking its contents is the only possible action, and this both triggers didActivateNotification method and closes the notification banner. When the user chooses alert-style notifications, clicking the alert contents also generates didActivateNotification with the same value of notification.activationType, but it stays on screen instead of going away (it only goes away when the Action button is pressed). I don't want my app to trigger an action repeatedly for the same alert notification, in case the user clicks the content area of an alert notification. An alternative solution would be to force the alert notification bubble to dismiss when the user clicks its contents. Is this possible?

Installing Image_Graph and using with BASE

Hello all, I have Windows 7 with the latest XAMPP installation. I configured BASE to work, for the most part. My problem is that in BASE, when I click on the graph alerts button, I get this error: Error loading the Graphing library: Check your Pear::Image_Graph installation! * Image_Graph can be found here:at http://pear.veggerby.dk/. object references an unsaved transient instance

Hi, I have 2 tables, user and userprofile, both with almost identical fields. user table references userprofile table by primary key ID. My requirement is that on click of a button I need to dump user table record to userprofile table. Now for a particular user table, if there is a corresponding userprofile entry, I am successfully able to dump the data, but if there is no record in userprofile table then I need to create a new record by dumping all the data. My problem is that I am able to update the data when the record is present in userprofile table, but in the case wherein I have to create a new record I get the below error "object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing". `<class name="User"> <id name="ID" type="Int32"> <generator class="native" /> </id> <many-to-one name="Pid" class="UserProfile" /> </class>` UserProfile is another table and Pid above references the Primary key ID of UserProfile table.

Is OpenID too complicated?

I'm beginning to seriously doubt the OpenID community despite that fact that it works. I'm in the process of currently evaluating OpenID as an authentication service for 'this' site and while the promises are great, I just can't get it to work. And I'm really lost. I ask of the SO community to help me out here. Give me answers and show me examples so I can leverage this in the way it was meant to be. My scenario is very typical. I want to authenticate users through a specific Google Apps domain. If you have access to this Google Apps domain, then you have access to my web application. Where I get lost, is all the prerequisites and dependencies involved. What is XRD? What is Yadis? Why do I need XRD and Yadis? What do I need to do to deploy OpenID authentication on my website? Also, this is really important to me. When I login to SO, I use my Google Account. When I click the login button I'm presented with this confirmation page. Where I'm granting SO the right to use my Google Account credentials. Somehow, Google knows that it's "Stackoverflow.com" that's asking me if it's okay to login. And I wish to know what manner of control I have over this little text. I intend to deploy OpenID on several different domains but I would prefer if they would all work without having to be individually configured with special parameters, such as secret API keys and what not. However, I don't know for sure if this is a prerequisite of OpenID, that or the Federated Login API that Google provides.

This works fine - there are no problems with its functionality. However it feels 'slow' and 'sluggish'. Is there a cleaner/faster way to accomplish this task? jQuery UI Calendar displays too large, would like the demo size???

So I downloaded a custom themed UI for jQuery and added the calendar control to my sight (Example: link text). In the example it shows/displays the size I would like but on my webpage it's about twice the size. why??? I do have a ton of other CSS but I don't have control over the look and feel of the page (Can't touch current CSS, MEH!!). Is there a way to get the demo look on my site? Getting information from servlet created html

I have a servlet that creates an html text box and then redirects to another servlet on submit. How can I access the value of the html text box from the new servlet? Switching Between Cards in a CardLayout using getParent()

Hey everyone, I am writing an application where I am using the CardLayout to swap between two panels that are placed right on top of one another. There's a JPanel called Top, and it's layout is the CardLayout. Inside this JPanel is a JPanel called CMatch. Whenever the user clicks the submit button in the CMatch panel, I want a new JPanel added to Top that is custom built based on what the user types in, and it will be shown instead of the original CMatch panel. All of this done using the CardLayout. These are all different classes in different files, however (the panel Top with CardLayout, the panel CMatch that is inside the Top panel, and the custom built panel). So i tried using the following to add the new panel to the Top panel and then have it shown: (this code takes place in the CMatch class): private void submitButtionActionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { CardLayout cl = (CardLayout)(this.getParent().getLayout()); cl.addLayoutComponent(new CChoice(), "college_choices"); cl.show(this.getParent(), "college_choices"); } However, this didn't work. So i was wondering, what am I doing wrong? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

stop form during submission if it validates incorrectly

I am trying to use JavaScript to validate forms but if the form doesn't validate, I don't want the form to be sent to the "action" page. What have I missed here? The submit button: <a href="" onclick="return formSubmit(); return false" class="purplebutton">Signup</a> So what have I missed? How do I avoid this in the future?

setfirstresult & setmaxresult in child collection

I have and entity lets call it Entity, and a Child collection Children. I have a screen where the user has the Entity information, and a list with the Children collection, but that collection can be get very big, so i was thinking about using paging: get the first 20 elements, and lazy load the next only if the user explicitly presses the next button. So i created in the Entity Repository a function with this signature: IEnumerable<Child> GetChildren(Entity entity, int actualPage, int numberOfRecordsPerPage) I need to use the setfirstresult and setmaxresult, not in the Agregate root Entity, but in the child collection. But when i use those two configurations, they allways refer to the entity type of the HQL/Criteria query. Other alternative would be to create a HQL/Criteria query for the Child type, set the max and first result, then filter the ones who are in the Entity Children collection (by using subquery). But i wasn't able to do this filter. If it was a bidirectional association (Child refering the parent Entity) it would be easier. Any suggestions? Any

Load Empty Database table

I am using SQLexpress and VS2008. I have a DB with a table named "A", which has an IdentitySpecification column named ID. The ID is auto-incremented. Even if the row is deleted, the ID still increases. After several data manipulation, the current ID has reached 15, for example. When I run the application if there's at least 1 row: if I add a new row, the new ID is 16. Everything is fine. If the table is empty (no row): if I add a new row, the new ID is 0, which is an error (I think). And further data manipulation (eg. delete or update) will result in an unhandled exception. Has anyone encountered this? PS. In my table definition, the ID has been selected as follow: Identity Increment = 1; Identity Seed =1; The DB load code is: dataSet = gcnew DataSet(); dataAdapter->Fill(dataSet,"A"); dataTable=dataSet->Tables["A"]; dbConnection->Open(); The Update button method dataAdapter->Update(dataSet,"tblInFlow"); dataSet->AcceptChanges(); dataTable=dataSet->Tables["tblInFlow"]; dataGrid->DataSource=dataTable; If I press Update: if there's at least a row: the datagrid view updates and shows the table correctly. if there's nothing in the table (no data row), the Add method will add a new row, but from ID 0. Code thinks Datagrid footer textbox is empty...

Hello All, I am working on an .net (C#) web application. Recently a defect came my way that stated that when two users were logged into the application at the same time they both could not update values without one refreshing the page. When I looked into the issue I discovered that the author of the code has used static datasets. I changed the datasets to not be static and everything works great. However, This issue spans many pages in the application and I must fix it everywhere. On some of these pages the application uses datasets to bind data to datagrids. The datagrids are populated with the information in the dataset and the footer contains some textboxes and an add button to add extra rows. Here is where the problem starts: When the page was using static datasets and the user attempted to add a row through the interface everything worked fine. However, when I changed it to use datasets that were not static (they are loaded every time the page loads) and the user attempts to add a row, the code thinks that the textbox is empty (discovered when debugging even though I can see the text that I entered) and empty field validation fails and a message is displayed. Can someone please tell me why on Earth this is happening? Why does it see the text when the dataset is static (the dataset NEVER populates the foot row) and not see the text when it is not static? Some insight would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

jquery simplemodal close wont work in firefox

How could I get this to work properly in all browsers? jQuery or Javascript maybe?
