• Windows XP running as OpenSSH server through cygwin. Can I remotely execute MS-DOS commands?

  I tried typing cmd or cmd.exe at the bash line which then takes to the DOS shell. But from there I tried executing something like trial.bat which contains some lines to access a series of executable commands, but to no avail. Is this the correct way to go about it? Thanks ~

  If I were to log in to - let's say - Gmail.com (which uses HTTPS by default), can my login and password be intercepted if I'm on an unencrypted wireless network? And if I still have the login cookie from a previous session so that I don't have to reenter my login and password, can third parties get access to my account? Is there a distinction between HTTP and HTTPS here?

  I have problem with installing apache on the ubuntu server running on virtual machine. (one of the so called cloud hosting) Installation went smooth apache is started but I can't access it through http://84.51.250.58[this is not a link] (just to see first "It works!" page) nor I can ping let say google.com using shell from remote viewer. It's brand new installation, it should work or am I missing something?

• Site down, SSH and FTP work fine

  I cannot access my site through my web browser, using either the domain name or IP address (which also pings fine). My site was working last night when I went to bed, so I can't think what might have done it. I have tried restarting apache to no avail. update: I've noticed that http://[IP Address]/phpymyadmin works but [domain name]/phpmyadmin does not, and the same happens for webmin (https://[IP]:1000). Could this be a problem with BIND?

• When using autoproxy, how can you see the proxy configuration?

  I set the global settings of the machine to use an autoproxy configuration script. e.g. http://autoproxy.mycompanydomain.exe:8080, but still there are some network apps that require an explicit proxy setting. I assume that this is because those apps don't know how to access the global proxy settings. How can i see the global proxy settings that were configured automatically so i can copy them to the settings of these troublesome apps?

  Our corp site lives on top of Joomla 1.5.3. In order to secure the administrative access, we implemented a redirect that when asking for the admin login page, you are redirected to the same URL, via SSL (http://site/administrator -- https://site/administrator ) Everything seems to work just fine, login and admin session is encrypted, but when running the extPlorer extension, the left sidebar loads, the main frame sticks at "Loading..." for ever. Removing SSL redirection works fine, but isn't what we desire.

• What is a good set and forget file version tracking / backup application for windows?

  When I make changes to files, I keep on finding myself "saving as" and adding the current date to the file. It slows me down, and it creates a bunch of files that clot my folder. I would prefer to be able to Right Click on a file from the File Explorer and select to save different versions of this file, so that each time I save it, it saves a copy somewhere, that I can access in the future if necessary. Is there any application that achieves this?

It used to work before but after I formatted my system it gives the following error every time I start the vpn client If I check the logs I see this error The Juniper Network Connect Service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

  At work there is a proxy that (understandably) blocks all ports except web ones. However, during lunch hours you are allowed to play online games. But as ports are blocked, multiplayer games are out of the question. So I was wondering, could I set up a tunnel on a web port, that would then allow me to access those blocked ports, through the port 80 tunnel whilst still being behind the work proxy?   I'm working on a project where we would like to have around 50 outgoing (not incoming) VPN connections. We could use PPTP or IPSEC. Security isn't an issue, we control all the sites and users won't have access. Windows Server appears to have a limit of 5 outgoing connections. Does anyone know if it's possible to tweak it to allow more? Or can we get this many outgoing VPN connections with Linux?

  I'm running a ms server 2012 box acting as a file server, I've set up 4 shares (IT SECURITY PUBLIC HR) to start out with each share has its corresponding group as full permissions to the folder however when I access the server \server\it it says i don't have permissions. • Remote Computer renting (moving my desktop to the cloud)

  I would like to rent a remote computer, like a virtual Vista or Windows 7 desktop, and run everything on it and access it with RDP (fastest). It could be virtual (running on Xen or Hyper-V) and the price needs to be right. Windows 7 to Windows 7 has nice RDP offload feature and doing stuff in the cloud is fast. Anywhere I could rent something like that? I've been using Amazon and CloudLayer, but they are optimized for server versions of Windows.
