• VPN says "successfully connected" and I'm internet-connected, but I can't access network resources

  To explain, I'm a university student who uses the VPN to access sites like Nature, PhysicsToday, etc. I have this VPN working on Windows 7 and I've got access to nearly every journal. However on my Ubuntu 12.04 partition I'm able to connect to the internet (in fact I'm typing this while connected through the VPN presumably) but journals have locked me out. Is there a problem on my end that I can fix?

  I'm trying to install Ubuntu 13.10 64bit on my notebook, but after a few second the installation quit, i have to take screenshot with my phone, i saw an error: MMIO write of 0x00000000 write fault at 0x418880 [IBUS]![enter image description here][1] My notebook is Asus n56vv with Optimus intel + nvidia gt750m At now I have a working installation of Ubuntu 13.04, I just want to install Ubuntu 13.10, keeping my home folder, I also tried to try ubuntu, but I have the same issue and the system didn't load.

• Antenna Aligner Part 5: Devil is in the detail

  "The first 90% of a project takes 90% of the time and the last 10% takes the another 200%"  (excerpt from onista) Now that I have a working app (more or less), it's time to make it pretty and slick. I can't stress enough how useful it is to get other people using your software, and my simple app is no exception. I handed my iPhone to a couple of my colleagues at Red Gate and asked them to use it and give me feedback. Immediately it became apparent that the delay between the list page being shown and the list being drawn was too long, and everyone who tried the app clicked on the "Recalculate" button before it had finished. Similarly, selecting a transmitter heralded a delay before the compass page appeared with similar consequences. All users expected there to be some sort of feedback/spinny etc. to show them it is actually doing something. In a similar vein although for opposite reasons, clicking the Recalculate button did indeed recalculate the available transmitters and redraw them, but it did this too fast! One or two users commented that they didn't know if it had done anything. All of these issues resulted in similar solutions; implement a waiting spinny. Thankfully, jquery mobile has one built in, primarily used for ajax operations. Not wishing to bore you with the many many iterations I went through trying to get this to work, I'll just give you my solution! (Seriously, I was working on this most evenings for at least a week!) The final solution for the recalculate problem came in the form of the code below. $(document).on("click", ".show-page-loading-msg", function () {            var $this = $(this),                theme = $this.jqmData("theme") ||                        $.mobile.loadingMessageTheme;            $.mobile.showPageLoadingMsg(theme, "recalculating", false);            setTimeout(function ()                           { $.mobile.hidePageLoadingMsg(); }, 2000);            getLocationData();        })        .on("click", ".hide-page-loading-msg", function () {              $.mobile.hidePageLoadingMsg();        }); The spinny is activated by setting the class of a button (for example) to the 'show-page-loading-msg' class. Recalculate This means the code above is fired, calling the showPageLoadingMsg on the document.mobile object. Then, after a 2 second timeout, it calls the hidePageLoadingMsg() function. Supposedly, it should show "recalculating" underneath the spinny, but I've not got that to work. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the jquery mobile implementation. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, it's the principle I'm after, and I now have spinnys!

  I've installed MS Office 2007 in Ubuntu 12.04 using Wine 1.4 with no problems, and it works fine with the English Language. However, I need to use it to work with Arabic and Hebrew, and it doesn't work when I switch to a Hebrew or Arabic keyboard. The typing gets reversed. I saw an earlier post for something similar, but it is closed and I think it was for the earlier Wine 1.3. Supposedly Wine 1.4 has added RTL -- is there a way to get it working?

  I have a fixed LAN IP, but no domain name. I'd like to be able to send emails within the LAN, and receive mails sent to my IP (user needs to send an email to [email protected]). I've tried the stuff in this post -- the "easy" one gives me an IMAP error in squirrelmail (IMAP is open and listening, but not working), and the "hard" one seems to be outdated. Is it possible to set up an email server (preferably on 12.04) without having a domain name?

Barr is an American actress, comedienne, writer, television producer, and director.  Barr began her career in stand-up comedy at clubs before gaining fame for her role in the sitcom Roseanne. The show was a hit and lasted nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. She won both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on the show. Barr had crafted a "fierce working-class domestic goddess" persona in the eight years preceding her sitcom and wanted to do a realistic show about a strong mother who was not a victim of patriarchal consumerism. The granddaughter of immigrants from Europe and Russia, Barr was the oldest of four children in a working-class Jewish Salt Lake City family; she was also active in the LDS Church. In 1974 she married Bill Pentland, with whom she had three children, before divorcing in 1990 and marrying comedian Tom Arnold for four years. Controversy arose when she sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" off-key at a 1990 nationally aired baseball game, followed by grabbing her crotch and spitting. After her sitcom ended, she launched her own talk show, The Roseanne Show, which aired from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, she returned to stand-up comedy with a world tour. In 2011, she starred in an unscripted TV show, Roseanne's Nuts that lasted from July to September of that year, about her life on a Hawaiian farm. Drive 1: 80 gig ssd Win7 Drive 2: 320 gig hdd Ubuntu (installed through wubi) Drive 3: 1000 TB NTFS media drive What I want to do is move the Ubuntu install from the 320 gig hard drive to my ssd and totally get rid of Windows.
