  • How to start writing out an existing AudioQueue in response to an event?

    - by Halle
    Hello, I am writing a class that opens an AudioQueue and analyzes its characteristics, and then under certain conditions can begin or end writing out a file from that AudioQueue that is already instantiated. This is my code (entirely based on SpeakHere) that opens the AudioQueue without writing anything out to tmp: void AQRecorder::StartListen() { int i, bufferByteSize; UInt32 size; try { SetupAudioFormat(kAudioFormatLinearPCM); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueNewInput(&mRecordFormat, MyInputBufferHandler, this, NULL, NULL, 0, &mQueue), "AudioQueueNewInput failed"); mRecordPacket = 0; size = sizeof(mRecordFormat); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueGetProperty(mQueue, kAudioQueueProperty_StreamDescription, &mRecordFormat, &size), "couldn't get queue's format"); bufferByteSize = ComputeRecordBufferSize(&mRecordFormat, kBufferDurationSeconds); for (i = 0; i < kNumberRecordBuffers; ++i) { XThrowIfError(AudioQueueAllocateBuffer(mQueue, bufferByteSize, &mBuffers[i]), "AudioQueueAllocateBuffer failed"); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueEnqueueBuffer(mQueue, mBuffers[i], 0, NULL), "AudioQueueEnqueueBuffer failed"); } mIsRunning = true; XThrowIfError(AudioQueueStart(mQueue, NULL), "AudioQueueStart failed"); } catch (CAXException &e) { char buf[256]; fprintf(stderr, "Error: %s (%s)\n", e.mOperation, e.FormatError(buf)); } catch (...) { fprintf(stderr, "An unknown error occurred\n"); } } But I'm a little unclear on how to write a function that will tell this queue "from now until the stop signal, start writing out this queue to tmp as a file". I understand how to tell an AudioQueue to write out as a file at the time that it's created, how to set files format, etc, but not how to tell it to start and stop midstream. Much appreciative of any pointers, thanks.

  • UIImageView in UITableCell gets a weird size

    - by Behlül
    Hi, I'm trying to place a UIImageView in a UITableViewCell. I create a special view called ProductView. In that view, I have several components, one of them being a UIImageView. I set this ProductView as content view of the UITableViewCell. Everything is drawn properly except the UIImageView. UIImageView gets scaled meaninglessly. It's height gets twice the height of the table cell size. I've spent hours trying to solve this problem. I've set the frame of UIImageView manually, I've called drawRect method of UIImage in UIImageView, neither of them worked. I'm thinking of replacing UITableView with a UIScrollView if I can't find a solution. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

  • Masking to Transparent returns empty image

    - by Tibi
    Hi there, I'm trying to put white color in my images to transparent with the following code. Problem is that "CGImageRef maskedTransparent" is blank. I don't understand because the code I'm using is nearly a copy paste from the doc ... Any idea ? (UIImage*) maskImage:(UIImage *)image withMask:(UIImage *)maskImage { CGImageRef maskRef = maskImage.CGImage; CGImageRef mask = CGImageMaskCreate(CGImageGetWidth(maskRef), CGImageGetHeight(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerPixel(maskRef), CGImageGetBytesPerRow(maskRef), CGImageGetDataProvider(maskRef), NULL, false); CGImageRef masked = CGImageCreateWithMask([image CGImage], mask); //Array defining min & max RGB values to be transformed to transparent colors. float maskingMinMax[6] = {255, 255, 255, 255, 255, 255}; //masking image to remove range in maskinLinMax CGImageRef maskedTransparent = CGImageCreateWithMaskingColors(masked, maskingMinMax); return [UIImage imageWithCGImage:maskedTransparent]; }

  • Xcode, Dev Docs Search Field Loosing Focus?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I am having a strange issue with the developer documentation (which i have only noticed after installing Xcode 3.2.3). My problem is that as you type in the search field (upper right) it looses focus and immediately starts looking for the first few letters you type. For example if you looking for "NSObject" you start typing "NSO" and as you type the field looses focus the last 5 characters "bject" just give beeps as you need to reselect the field to type extra characters. Has anyone else come across this or know what the problem might be? cheers Gary.

  • dealloc on Background Thread

    - by Mark Brackett
    Is it an error to call dealloc on a UIViewController from a background thread? It seems that UITextView (can?) eventually call _WebTryThreadLock which results in: bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool): Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Background: I have a subclassed NSOperation that takes a selector and a target object to notify. -(id)initWithTarget:(id)target { if (self = [super init]) { _target = [target retain]; } return self; } -(void)dealloc { [_target release]; [super dealloc]; } If the UIViewController has already been dismissed when the NSOperation gets around to running, then the call to release triggers it's dealloc on a background thread.

  • Proper way to resignFirstResponder when a UITableView is touched?

    - by Topher Fangio
    Hello all, I have a pretty simple UITableView who's cells contain UITextFields and I need to be able to call resignFirstResponder to hide the keyboard whenever a user touches the UITableView outside of one of the cells. I have read this question/answer but it seems like a very rudimentary way to achieve this. I have read about a way to do it by converting the UITableView to a UIControl so that you can connect the TouchDown event. Does anybody know the standard or preferred way to achieve this functionality?

  • When my UIViewController accesses an NSArray in my AppDelegate from an IBAction it crashes the progr

    - by JasonClark
    I have a couple UIViewControllers that I am trying to access an array inside my AppDelegate. When I use an IBAction UIButton and in that method I access my AppDelegate my program dies silently. Nothing in output or the debugger, it just stops. If I run it several times I can see that it is failing to access the array properly. To investigate this problem I created a very basic app. In my AppDelegate.h I declared and set properties for the array #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class MyViewController; @interface MyAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; MyViewController *viewController; NSArray *images; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *images; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet MyViewController *viewController;` In the AppDelegate.m I synthesised and initialized the NSArray (Also made sure the images were added to the Resources folder). @synthesize images; - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { images = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"bamboo_nw" ofType:@"jpg"], ..... nil]; NSLog(@"init images size:%i",[images count]); [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } In my UIViewController.h I added class, imported header file, declared, and set properties for my AppDelegate pointer. #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "MyAppDelegate.h" @class MyAppDelegate; @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { MyAppDelegate *mainDelegate; IBOutlet UIButton mybutton; } @property (nonatomic, retain) MyAppDelegate mainDelegate; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIButton *mybutton; -(IBAction) doSomething;` In my UIViewController.m I synthesize and assign my AppDelegate. I set up an IBAction that will log the same count of the NSArray from the AppDelegate. #import "MyViewController.h" #import "MyAppDelegate.h" @implementation MyViewController @synthesize mybutton; - (void)viewDidLoad { mainDelegate = (MyAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSLog(@"vdl images size:%i",[mainDelegate.images count]); [super viewDidLoad]; } -(IBAction) doSomething { NSLog(@"ds images size:%i",[mainDelegate.images count]); } I print the size of the NSArray in the AppDelegate when I create it, in the ViewController when I first assign my AppDelegate pointer, and then as a result of my IBAction. I find that everytime I hit the button the program dies. On the third time I hit the button, I saw that it ran my IBAction but printed my array size as 1 instead of 8. Am I missing something? Also, why don't I get stack traces or anything, the debugger just dies silently? Thanks in advance for any help! • MonoTouch - foreach vs for loops (performance)

    - by ifwdev
    Normally I'm well aware that a consideration like this is premature optimization. Right now I have some event handlers being attached inside a foreach loop. I am wondering if this style might be prone to leaks or inefficient memory use due to closures being created. Is there any validity to this thinking?

    - by Viral
    hi friends I am making a game in cocos2d , In that while updating score the old score values get on the label and the new value get overwritten. • Add programmatically clickable Button with custom Views layouted in InterfaceBuilder

    - by allisone
    I have a UIScrollView. In there I add buttons programmatically. Right now I just use UIButton and set one title. But I need to have an UIImage View in there, that will change upon certain events, Text that will change too etc. and I would like to style that in Interface Builder, but I can't figure out how to do this. Which class should I extend, and what kind of xib should I create and what in there, so that in the end I can make the right connections and so that I can listen for UIControlEventTouchDown of that Button.

  • UIScrollView: Is 806k Image too much too handle? (Crash, out of memory)?

    - by Jordan
    I'm loading a 2400x1845 png image into a scroll view. The program crashes out of memory, is there a better way to handle this? mapScrollView is an UIScrollView in IB, along with a couple of UIButtons. -(void)loadMapWithName:(NSString *)mapName { NSString* bundlePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/path/%@", bundlePath, [maps objectForKey:mapName]]]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; CGSize imgSize = image.size; mapScrollView.contentSize = imgSize; [mapScrollView addSubview:imageView]; [imageView release]; [self.view addSubview:mapScrollView]; }

  • UIWebView loads a local file for a long time

    - by Knodel
    I have a UIWebView which loads .rtfd.zip files like this: -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { self.title=@"Title"; if(rowPosledovatelnosti==0) { [self loadFile:@"PosledovatelnostiObzie.rtfd.zip"]; } if(rowPosledovatelnosti==1) { [self loadFile:@"Arifmeticheskaya.rtfd.zip"]; } if(rowPosledovatelnosti==2) { [self loadFile:@"Svojstva_Arifmeticheskoj.rtfd.zip"]; } if(rowPosledovatelnosti==3) { [self loadFile:@"Geometricheskaya.rtfd.zip"]; } if(rowPosledovatelnosti==4) { [self loadFile:@"Predel_Posledovatelnosti.rtfd.zip"]; } if(rowPosledovatelnosti==5) { [self loadFile:@"Summa_Geometricheskoy.rtfd.zip"]; } } But on the device it takes some time for the UIWebView to load the content. Is there any way to optimize the loading time?

  • How can I flip a UITableView?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I am trying to flip a UITableViewController but I don't think I am doing it properly: LeaderBoardTableViewController* leaderBoardView = [[[LeaderBoardTableViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LeaderBoardTableViewController" bundle:nil]autorelease]; //[self.navigationController pushViewController:leaderBoardView animated:YES]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:[self view] cache:YES]; [self.view addSubview:leaderBoardView]; [UIView commitAnimations]; I believe the culprit is in the line: [self.view addSubview:leaderBoardView]; But am not sure how to resolve.
