• What does this mean: warning: converting from ‘void (ClassName::*)()’ to ‘void (*)()’

  I have a member function in a class that has a callback, but the callback isn't strictly neccessary, so it has a default callback, which is empty. It seems to work fine, but I get an annoying warning: warning: converting from ‘void (ClassName::*)()’ to ‘void (*)()’ I'm trying to figure out what it means and how to turn it off (or fix it if I really am doing something wrong). Here's some simple code: class ClassName{ public: void doSomething(void (*callbackFunction)() = (void(*)()) &ClassName::doNothing){ callbackFunction(); } void doNothing(){} }; int main(){ ClassName x; x.doSomething(); return 0; } Note: If I do this (without explicitly casting it as a void(*)()): void doSomething(void (*callbackFunction)() = &ClassName::doNothing) I get this: main.cpp:3: error: default argument for parameter of type ‘void (*)()’ has type ‘void (ClassName::*)()’

• Why does select SCOPE_IDENTITY() return a decimal instead of an integer?

  So I have a table with an identity column as the primary key, so it is an integer. So, why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() always return a decimal value instead of an int to my C# application? This is really annoying since decimal values will not implicitly convert to integers in C#, which means I now have to rewrite a bunch of stuff and have a lot of helper methods because I use SQL Server and Postgres, which Postgres does return an integer for the equivalent function.. Why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() not just return a plain integer? Are there people out there that commonly use decimal/non-identity values for primary keys?

  I am trying to create an AppWidget, in which the background color of a TextView changes at random at specified periodic interval. If i remove the above line everything works fine.   DataAnnotations does not work with buddy class. The following code always validate true.   Is it a good idea to create a lighter version of an Entity in some cases just for performance reason pointing to same table but with fewer columns mapped. E.g If I have a Contact Table which has 50 Columns and in few of the related entities I might be interested in FirstName and LastName property is it a good idea to create a lightweight version of Contact table. • Dynamic programming - Coin change decision problem?

  I'm reviewing some old notes from my algorithms course and the dynamic programming problems are seeming a bit tricky to me. I have a problem where we have an unlimited supply of coins, with some denominations x1, x2, ... xn and we want to make change for some value X. We are trying to design a dynamic program to decide whether change for X can be made or not (not minimizing the number of coins, or returning which coins, just true or false). I've done some thinking about this problem, and I can see a recursive method of doing this where it's something like... MakeChange(X, x[1..n this is the coins]) for (int i = 1; i < n; i++) { if ( (X - x[i] ==0) || MakeChange(X - x[i]) ) return true; } return false; Converting this a dynamic program is not coming so easily to me. How might I approach this?

I mean I know its helping me see the output window which will only be closed when I press enter key So getchar() is basically waiting for me to press enter and then reads a single character .. Now my question.. what is that single character this function is reading ?? • Slow Update/insert into SQL Server CE using LinqToDatasets

  I have a mobile app that is using LinqToDatasets to update/insert into a SQL Server CE 3.5 File. My Code looks like this: // All the MyClass Updates MyTableAdapter myTableAdapter = new MyTableAdapter(); foreach (MyClassToInsert myClass in updates.MyClassChanges) { // Update the row if it is already there int result = myTableAdapter.Update(myClass.FirstColumn, myClass.SecondColumn, myClass.FirstColumn); // If the row was not there then insert it. if (result == 0) { myTableAdapter.Insert(myClass.FirstColumn, myClass.SecondColumn); } } This code is used to keep the hand held database in sync with the server database. Problem is if it is a full update (first time for example) there are a lot of updates (about 125). That makes this code (and more loops like it take a very long time (I have three such loops that take over 30 seconds each). Is there a faster or better way to do updates/inserts like this? (I did see this Codeplex Project, but I could not see how to make it work with both updates and inserts.)

I'd like to hide exittext after pressing button to make more space for list (button will go up). On second press edittext should be visible again. Edittext and button have "wrap_content" height.   For my iPhone app, I'm consuming a RESTful service and getting JSON. I've found libraries to deserialize this into an NSDictionary. However, I'm wondering if there are any libraries to deserialize the JSON/NSDictionary/Property List into my object (an arbitrary one on my side). The java equivalent would be the object-relational mappers although the sort of object mapping I'm looking for is relatively straightforward (simple data types, no complex relationships, etc.). I noticed that Objective-C does have introspection so it seems theoretically possible but I haven't found a library to do it. Or is there a simple way to load an object from an NSDictionary/Property List object that doesn't require modification every time the object changes? For example: { "id" : "user1", "name" : "mister foobar" "age" : 20 } gets loaded into object @interface User : NSObject { NSString *id; NSString *name; int *age; }

  I'm using QTableView and QStandardItemModel to show some data. For each row, there is a column which has a check Box, this check box is inserted by setItem, the code is as follows: int rowNum; QStandardItemModel *tableModel; QStandardItem* __tmpItem = new QStandardItem(); __tmpItem->setCheckable(true); __tmpItem->setCheckState(Qt::Unchecked); tableModel->setItem(rowNum,0,__tmpItem); Now I want to interact with the check box. If a check box changes its state by user (from checked to unchecked or vice versa), I want to do something on the corresponding data row. I know I can use signal-slot to catch the change of checkbox, but since there are lots of data row, I don't want to connect each row one by one. Is there anyway to interact with the check action more effectively? Thanks :)

  I'm using Validation Application Block - Enterprise Library to validate parameters sent to my WCF Service operations. For instance, a certain operation requires the parameter to either be a 1 or 6, like so: [OperationContract(Name="GetEmployeesByRegion")] [FaultContract(typeof(ValidationFault))] List<Employees> GetEmployeesByRegion([DomainValidator(1,6)]int regionId); This works just fine i.e the validation fault occurs however, when the service is invoked by the client, a generic System.ServiceModel.FaultException is thrown. An the message indicates: "The creator of this fault did not specify a reason." Now, I could check the parameters myself before the service cal and throw a custom fault but that seems to defeat the purpose of attribute based validation of parameters using the Validation Application Block. Is there anyway to customize the error returned by the validation Fault? It is also possible I'm doing something completely wrong. I just want the caller to know that he/she should have passed in a 1 or 6 in the exception message. Is this possible?

• Android drawCircle's are not always 360 degrees

  When I call drawCircle (ex. canvas.drawCircle(x, y, r, mPaint);) and I use Paint Style STROKE to initialize param #4 mPaint, the result doesn't quite make a full 360 degree (2*PI radian) circle in all cases. Sometimes you get a full circle (as I would expect) and sometimes only an arc. Does someone have an idea what would cause this to happen? I don't know what cases work and which don't (yet). I've noticed the ones that don't work seem to be the larger circles I'm drawing (100.0 radius). Could be size related. I am using floating point for x, y and r. I could try rounding to the nearest int when in the drawing code.

• EOF error encountered while converting bytearray to bitmapdata

  I am using var bitmapdata:BitmapData=new BitmapData(); var pixels:Bytearray=new Bytearray(); pixels = rleDecodePixles(); bitmapdata.setPixels(bitmapdata.rect, pixels); In the 4th line in the code above i am getting "Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered." I checked the length of the pixels object which is 4 times the width*height of the rect object. Given that setPixels() functions reads unsigned int from bytearray and sets that value to pixels, I think it should work. But I have no clue why this wont work. The pixels object is filled after RLE decoding of the data which i get from a server. Is there any work around or any other method which I could try to use. The loader class wont work as the data that I get from the server is not in any of the recognized format. Any help is greatly appreciated. Shrikant Thanks.

  I,m trying to work through and test a Voice Recognition example based on the VoiceRecognition.java example at http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html but when click on the button to create the activity, I get a dialog that says Connection problem. My Manifest file is using the Internet Permission, and I understand it passes the to the Google Servers. Do I need to do anything else to use this. When a delegate is set, auto complete just stops working.
