  • How to mix mongodb and a traditional db in Rails?

    I am considering using MongoDB (mongo-mapper) for a portion of my rails application. I am not ready to go whole hog MongoDB because there are too many useful gems that depend on a traditional DB. That being said there are parts of my application that would be great to leverage a document database. Has anyone had success mixing the two approaches? How do you link activerecord models with mongomapper models? Thanks, Jonathan

    I have two custom attributes defined like so: internal class SchemaAttribute : Attribute { internal SchemaAttribute(string schema) { Schema = schema; } internal string Schema { get; private set; } } internal class AttributeAttribute : Attribute { internal AttributeAttribute(string attribute) { Attribute = attribute; } internal string Attribute { get; private set; } } I would like to restrict the SchemaAttribute to classes, and the AttributeAttribute to properties. Is this doable?

  • Java and C++ on Stack Unwinding issue

    As far as I know, in case of an uncaught exception, C++ destroys the local variables immediately, Java releases the references and leaves the rest for the garbage collector. Is this right? What exactly is the difference between Java and C++ on this issue? in other words, which of these two languages is considered better in terms of stack unwinding issue? :)

They are both wordpress 2.8.6 (so they have exactly the same source code, plugins apart) but they are located on two different hosting platform (hostmonster.com and aruba.it). To explain my problem I've dumped with SmartSniff a session with each one of the sites. Naturally there are different PHP and Apache versions on the servers... what can I check or set to diagnose and resolve the problem ? By the way I don't want the BOM. Many thanks in advance.

  • How to store (and use) the current mouse position?

    What is the best way to store the current mouse position (system-wide) and then (later) put the mouse at that stored point? [NSEvent mouseLocation] gets me the position, and I can move the mouse with a CGEventMouseMoved, but they each use a different co-ordinates system (I believe y=0 is the top for NSEvent and the bottom for a CGEvent). I'm worried about the robustness of capturing the screen height and using it to convert between the two - or is this the best approach?

I wrote this one: SELECT CONCAT_WS(' / ', table_n1.t1_name, table_n2.t2_name) AS names FROM table_n1 LEFT JOIN table_n2 ON table_n2.t1_id = table_n1.t1_id that works for an half: this only return the 2° row (in the example above): | names | | foo - bar | This query return the 'father' (table_n1) name only when it doesnt have 'childs' (table_n2). How can i fix it?

    Given an arbitary polygon with vertices stored in either clockwise/counterclockwise fashion (depicted as a black rectangle in the diagram), I need to be able to subtract an arbitrary number of circles (in red on the diagram) from that polygon. Removing a circle could possibly split the polygon into two seperate polygons (as depicted by the second line in the diagram). I have created a module for the field and specified the two database columns that I would like CCK to use (one for the value and one for the ID) but I am not sure where the entry point is for adding in a unique id for each value (probably will just take the id from a sequence).

    Why on the same machine computing the SHA-1 hash of the same file produces two completely different SHA-1 hashes in windows and inside a msysgit Git bash? Doesn't the SHA-1 algorithm was intended to produce the same hash for the same file in all OSes?
