  • Combo-box values automatically update

    Hi all, hopefully somebody can help The table structure is as follows: tblCompany: compID compName tblOffice: offID, compID, add1, add2, add3 etc... tblEmployee: empID Name, telNo, etc... offID I have a form that contains contact details for employees, all works ok using after update. A cascading combo box, cmbComp, allows me to select a company, and inturn select the appropriate office, cboOff, and updates the corresponding tblEmployee.offID field correctly. Fields are automatically updated for the address also cmbComp: RowSource SELECT DISTINCT tblOffice.compID, tblCompany.compID FROM tblCompany INNER JOIN AdjusterCompanyOffice ON tblCompany.compID=tblOffice.compID ORDER BY tblCompany.compName; cboOff: RowSource SELECT tblCompany.offID, tblCompany.Address1, tblCompany.Address2, tblCompany.Address3, tblCompany.Address4, tblCompany.Address5 FROM tblCompany ORDER BY tblCompany.Address1; The problem I am having is that when i load a new record how to retrieve the data and automatically load the cmbComp and text fields. The cboOff combo box loads correctly as the control source for this is the offID I imagine there must be a way of setting the value on opening the record? Not sure how though. I dont think I can set the controlsource cmbComp or text fields, or can I? Any help/point in the right direction appreciated, have been searching for a way to do this but cant get anywhere!

    I'm not quite grokking a couple of things in OOP and I'm going to use a fictional understanding of SO to see if I can get help understand. So, on this page we have a question. You can comment on the question. There are also answers. You can comment on the answers. Question - comment - comment - comment Answer -comment Answer -comment -comment -comment Answer -comment -comment So, I'm imagining a very high level understanding of this type of system (in PHP, not .Net as I am not yet familiar with .Net) would be like: $question = new Question; $question->load($this_question_id); // from the URL probably echo $question->getTitle(); To load the answers, I imagine it's something like this ("A"): $answers = new Answers; $answers->loadFromQuestion($question->getID()); // or $answers->loadFromQuestion($this_question_id); while($answer = $answers->getAnswer()) { echo $answer->showFormatted(); } Or, would you do ("B"): $answers->setQuestion($question); // inject the whole obj, so we have access to all the data and public methods in $question $answers->loadFromQuestion(); // the ID would be found via $this->question->getID() instead of from the argument passed in while($answer = $answers->getAnswer()) { echo $answer->showFormatted(); } I guess my problem is, I don't know when or if I should be passing in an entire object, and when I should just be passing in a value. Passing in the entire object gives me a lot of flexibility, but it's more memory and subject to change, I'd guess (like a property or method rename). If "A" style is better, why not just use a function? OOP seems pointless here. Thanks, Hans

When assigning a value to an array as in the following, how could I replace the nils by 0? array = [1,2,3] array[10] = 2 array # => [1, 2, 3, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, nil, 2] If not possible when assigning, how would I do it the best way afterwards? I thought of array.map { |e| e.nil? ? 0 : e }, but well… Thanks!

The main one (where the key is the user id) : $user[31] = 'Tom' $user[43] = 'Jane' and another array with the order they should be displayed (where key is the order and value is the user id) : $order[1] = 43 $order[2] = 31 How can I apply the ordering to the main array using the ordering one?     Hi, Is there a way to open a window from the current page using a javascript bookmarklet, and once the the child window has finished loading, setting the value of one of the elements in its DOM to some value from the current page, say for example the currently selected text. I know that this can be done in plane javascript, and also, by appending the value to the URL, and reading it from the web service opened in the new child window. I want to know if there is any other way, as the appending URL method does not let you send text more than two thousand odd characters long. Appreciate any help I can get!

    Consider the following table: Orders OrderId Date CustomerId 1000 2012-06-05 20:03:12.000 51 1001 2012-06-16 12:02:31.170 48 1002 2012-06-18 19:45:16.000 33 When I extract the Order data using FOR XML: SELECT OrderId AS 'Order/@Order-Id', Date AS 'Order/ShipDate', CustomerId AS 'Order/Customer' FROM Orders WHERE OrderId = 1000 FOR XML PATH ('') I get the following result: <Order Order-Id="1000"> <ShipDate>2010-02-20T16:03:12</ShipDate> <Customer>51</Customer> </Order> The problem is, the ShipDate value in the XML file needs to be in the format M/DD/YYYY H:mm:ss PM. How can I change the output of the ShipDate in the XML file to the desired format? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there is technique to set a default value for that field, preferably a space (I am running into weird formatting issues with CSS). The html form way of value="" doesn't work, neither does setting a default value in the XML schema.     I notice when I create a project template from an existing project in my solution, it does a semi-string replace to update references. However, it does not replace string literals. It does update my web.config file, but not code files. The project template: namespace MyTemplateProject { class MyClass { public string GetStringValue() { return "MyProjectTemplate"; } } } The generated code when used as a template: namespace MyActualNewProject { class MyClass { public string GetStringValue() { return "MyProjectTemplate"; } } } How can I instruct the template maker to replace "MyProjectTemplate" wih "MyActualNewProject"?

  • Use jQuery to get values of dropdownlists in an html table column for each row

    Hi All, I have a requirement to build a simple html table of memos. The table consists of n-rows each with 2 columns: (1) a dropdownlist of types of memos and (2) the text of a memo - a textbox. I have successfully implemented jQuery to allow the user to Add a new row. That entails the selecting of a type of memo and then typing something into the textbox. I've also implemented jQuery to allow the user to mark a memo row for deletion. This is a partial view and the Save is handled by a container page. Requirements stipulate that there can be only one type of memo in the table. What I would like to be able to do is this: When the user clicks the Add button to add a new row (after having selected the memo type and entered some text into the textbox) I want the code to first examine each row in the table getting the value for each memo type dropdownlist. If the newly entered dropdownlist value is the same as one previously entered, I want to abort the add row process. Requirements also stipulate that all dropdownlists remain enabled to allow the user to change the memo type at any time. Similarly, I would like to be able to scan the table checking to see if that same memo type has already been entered. What would the jQuery look like for this kind of validation? Thanks! Arnold

    I'm currently stuck on this problem. I've hooked into the method_missing function in a class I've made. When a function is called that doesn't exist, I want to call another function I know exists, passing the args array as all of the parameters to the second function. Does anyone know a way to do this? Table1 with: id_table1, related_names Table2 with: id_table2, name, include and a joint-table with: id_table1, id_table2 Now I want either make related_names a calculated field or write a script that sets related_names to a comma separated list of all names which are connected through the joint-table and have Table2.include = True. So for example a data set could look like: Table1 id_table1, related_names 1, "foo,bar" 2, "foo" 3, "" joint-table id_table1, id_table2 1,1 1,2 1,3 2,1 Table2 id_table2, name, include 1, foo, True 2, bar, True 3, baz, False After searching the internet for a few hours the closest I came was a calculated field with list(join-table::id_table2) which gives me a list with a all the id_table2's. But now I would need to find the appropriate records in table2 and check the include field. I hope the problem is clear. any help is highly appreciated.

Now we check if it has an value - this works well with all form fields that have the class .required... but it does not work with the iframe. the iframe has a div with id #content. $('form .meet').focus(function() { $('iframe').each(function() { ** if($(this).contents().find('#content').val() == '') { ** $(this).addClass('warning'); } }) }); That means it should add the class .warning if the iframe is empty. But it always does, so what am i doing wrong? Does it not work, because the JS does not see the text i currently typed in? ^^ Regards Henry

For some reason, I have a problem regarding Rating value that gets lost when I load from XML (using void LoadFromXML(string path) method. The following code prints 0 although actual value is 5: BookStore b = new BookStore(); b.LoadFromXML(Server.MapPath("list.xml")); Label1.Text = b.BooksList[0].Rating.ToString(); Please note: only the specific Rating parameter is lost. Edit: Every time, I restart the app ión the device, the check for testValue is Nil and I am building up the dictionary again but after one run it should be persistent on the Phone, right? Am I doing something wrong somewhere in between? I have the feeling that I yet didn't really understand how to load and save settings persistent for a certain application on the iPhone. Is there anything I have to do additionally to this? Integrating a settings.bundle in XCode or saving the dictionary manually to the Documents folder? Can someone help me out here? Thanks a lot!

What i want to do is ignore the blank ones, I find this harder to sort through in the update controller than a non nested attribute. What i have temporarily is a hack in the after_save callback deleting the empty records. Whats the most rails way to ignore these blank objects? I dont want validation and errors, just a silent deletion/ignore.

Right now i have a XSLT transformation that outputs the rest of the document as HTMl, but i need only a small part of the CDATA HTML, not the entire part - e.g. a my Title tag. How to do this?
