  • R how to find NA values after using addNA function

    I have a data frame with a bunch of categorical variables. Some of them contain NA's and I use the addNA function to convert them to an explicit factor level. My problem comes when I try to treat them as NA's they don't seem to register. Here's my example data set and attempts to 'find' NA's: df1 <- data.frame(id = 1:200, y =rbinom(200, 1, .5), var1 = factor(rep(c('abc','def','ghi','jkl'),50))) df1$var2 <- factor(rep(c('ab c','ghi','jkl','def'),50)) df1$var3 <- factor(rep(c('abc','ghi','nop','xyz'),50)) df1[df1$var1 == 'abc','var1'] <- NA df1$var1 <- addNA(df1$var1) df1$isNaCol <- ifelse(df1$var1 == NA, 1, 0);summary(df1$isNaCol) df1$isNaCol <- ifelse(is.na(df1$var1), 1, 0);summary(df1$isNaCol) df1$isNaCol <- ifelse(df1$var1 == 'NA', 1, 0);summary(df1$isNaCol) df1$isNaCol <- ifelse(df1$var1 == '<NA>', 1, 0);summary(df1$isNaCol) Also when I type ??addNA I don't get any matches.   • Drawing the UIPicker values from multiple components?

    I have the UIPicker setup with multiple components and a button below it. Depending on what the user has chosen with the UIPicker determines which new view will be loaded but I am having trouble determining how to extrapolate the information from the picker itself. Right now I have this method being called when the button is pressed: - (IBAction) buttonPressed { if (component:1 == 1 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 1. } else if (component:1 == 2 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 2. } else { //Load the view number 3. } } I obviously know that my code is wrong but I hope it gets the point across. I have multiple components and I need to figure out how to use the information that the user is scrolling to on the picker to determine which view to move to. (I know how to load the views, I just commented those in the code to illuminate the problem areas better.)

    Hi - I'm developing a property rentals website. The search results page will contain a list of property results. It is my intention to redefine the results, say by town, country, property type etc. So let's say for example the user searches 'France'. All of the relative properties will be returned and displayed in a list. However, I also need to reuse this array, to display only unique town names from the search results array. e.g. Montpellier, Lyon, Rennes, Nice etc. The idea is when use user click on 'Nice', only the 'Nice' properties would return. I would also like to display how many properties are in that town.     Problem String concatenation is slowing down a query: date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||'-1-1') d1, date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||'-1-31') d2 This is realized in code as part of a string, which follows (where the p_ variables are integers): date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||''-'||p_month1||'-'||p_day1||''') d1, date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||''-'||p_month2||'-'||p_day2||''') d2 This part of the query runs in 3.2 seconds with the dates, and 1.5 seconds without, leading me to believe there is ample room for improvement. Question What is a better way to create the date (presumably without concatenation)? Many thanks!

  • AS3 mouseX and mouseY values wrong in Firefox

    Hi there, I'm getting some strange behaviour in my Flash movie, only in Firefox for MAC (3.6.2). Basically, the mouseX and mouseY properties of all display objects become massive numbers: < 100000000. This issue only occurs on Firefox, it is not present when the movie is run standalone, nor when it is run on any other browser. The swf requires Flash Player 10, and is written in AS3. It is also embedded via SWFObject, but I tested using the export code supplied with Flash and verified the issue is still present. Has anybody heard of this? Is it a Flash or Firefox bug? Is it a bug at all? Thanks

    Hi everyone I'm only a newcomer to ASP.NET MVC and am not sure how to achieve a certain task the "right way". Essentially, I store the logged in userId in HttpContext.User.Identity and have written an EnhancedAuthorizeAttribute to perform some custom authorization. In the overriden OnAuthorization method, my domain model hits the database to ensure the current user id can access the passed in routeValue "BatchCode". The prototype is: ReviewGroup GetReviewGroupFromBatchCode(string batchCode); It will return null if the user can't access the ReviewGroup and the OnAuthorization then denies access. Now, I know the decorated action method will only get executed if OnAuthorization passes, but I don't want to hit the database a second time to get the ReviewGroup again. I am thinking of storing the ReviewGroup in HttpContext.Items["reviewGroup"] and accessing this from the controller at the moment. Is this a feasible solution, or am I on the wrong path? Thanks!

  • CM_Get_Device_ID gets correct values from win7 but not xp

    When using CM_Get_Device_ID(...) I am getting the correct value from windows 7. When using windows xp I am getting an incorrect value. For Example, on xp I get "USB\VID_2132&PID_0001\5&36FF4167&0&7" and on 7 I get "USB\VID_2132&PID_0001\413031000576". The value after the \ on PID is our serial number and it is correct on 7 but xp keeps giving back what appears to be a nonsensical value. My question is has anyone else encountered this and know of a workaround?

    I have objects in a tree structure, I would like to aggregate status information from children nodes and update parent node with aggregated status. Lets say node A has children B1, B2, and B1 has C1, C2, C3 as children. Each of the nodes have a status attribute. Now if C1, C2, C3 are all complete then I would like to mark B1 as completed. And if C4, C5,C6,C7 are complete make B2 as complete. When B1 and B2 are both complete mark A as complete.     Is it possible to convert floats from big to little endian? I have a value from a PowerPC(big endian)platform that I am send via TCP to a Windows process (little endian). This value is a float, but when I "memcpy" the value into a win32 float type and then call _byteswap_ulongon that value, I always get 0.0000? What am I doing wrong?

    I'm building a web application where the front end is a highly-specialized search engine. Searching is handled at the main URL, and the user is passed off to a sub-directory when they click on a search result for a more detailed display. This hand-off is being done as a GET request with the primary key being passed in the query string. I seem to recall reading somewhere that exposing primary keys to the user was not a good idea, so I decided to implement reversible encryption. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just being paranoid. The reversible encryption (base64) is probably easily broken by anybody who cares to try, makes the URLs very ugly, and also longer than they otherwise would be. Should I just drop the encryption and send my primary keys in the clear?

  • Setting UITableViewCell button image values during scrolling

    I am having an issue where I am trying to save whether a repeat image will show selected or not (it is created as a UIButton on a UITableViewCell created in IB). The issue is that since the cell gets re-used randomly, the image gets reset or set somewhere else after you start scrolling. I've looked all over and the advice was to setup an NSMutableArray to store the button's selection state and I am doing that in an array called checkRepeatState My question is: where do I put the if-then-else statement in the code to where it will actually change the button image based on if the checkRepeatState is set to 0 or 1 for the given cell that is coming back into view? Right now, the if-then-else statement I am using has absolutely no effect on the button image when it comes into view. I'm very confused at this point. Thank you ahead of time for any insight you can give!!!     Hi , i was trying to make a full lot of ips for testing using this code : ip_is = [i for i in range(256)] ports = [i for i in range(1024,49152)] return [str(i1)+"."+str(i2)+"."+str(i3)+"."+str(i4)+":"+str(p) for i1,i2,i3,i4,port in ip_is,ip_is,ip_is,ip_is,ports] The problem is the 3rd line in which is made the ip list. If there is a way to make it all at once or how can make one at time in a lazy way ? I'm pretty noob at python :P. Thanks for the Help :)
