  • Why is C++0x's `noexcept` checked dynamically?

    I am curious about the rationale behind noexcept in the C++0x FCD. throw(X) was depreciated, but noexcept seems to do the same thing. Is there a reason that noexcept isn't checked at compile time? It seems that it would be better if these functions were checked statically that they only called throwing functions within a try block.

  • Best way to be able to pick multiple colors/designs of symbols dynamically from flash

    Sorry the title's so convoluted... I must've tried for ten minutes to get a good, descriptive title! Basically, here's the scenario. Let's say a user can pick fifty different hat colors and styles to put on an avatar. The avatar can move his head around, so we'd need the same types of movements in the symbol for when that happens. Additionally, it gets which hat should be on the 'avatar' from a database. The problem is that we can't just make 50 different frames with a different hat on each. And each hat symbol will have the same movements, it'll just be different styles, colors and sizes. So how can I make one variable that is the HAT, that way we can just put the appropriate hat symbol into the variable and always be able to call Hat.gotoAndplay('tip_hat') or any other generic functions.... Does that make sense? Hope that's not too confusing. Sorry, I'm not great at the visual Flash stuff, but it's gotta be done! Thanks!

    I have a bunch of datatemplates I use to display various sql-views in an ItemsControl. I don't know which datatemplate i'm going to use until run-time. (every view has different columns) Next to that, I made a generic dynamic datatemplate for all those views that don't need anything special. When I display the view I want to first look in all the available datatemplates if there is one that matches, else use the default dynamic datatemplate. My question is how can I 'search' a datatemplate by name in code? Usercontrol is also possible. Thanks, Elger

    I have an ASP.NET form with three text inputs, one each for "Work Phone", "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone". Each of these text inputs has a RequiredFieldValidator associated with it. I also have a DropDownList where the user can select the preferred phone type. I want to only require the field that is selected in the DropDownList. For example, if the user selects "Work Phone" from the DropDownList, I want to disable the RequiredFieldValidator for "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone", thereby only making the "Work Phone" field required. I have a method that enables and disables these validators based on the value of the DropDownList, but I cannot figure out when to call it. I want this method to run before the validation takes place on the page. How would I do that?

  • 'License expired' error when dynamically generating Excel docs in ASP.NET

    Anyone familiar with error below? When I run my webapp to generate a dynamic excel doc from my local machine it works fine but when the same piece of code is invoked on the server I get the below error. It seems like it's a permissions issues since it works on my machine but not the server but I don't know where to start in order to pinpoint the problem. Any guidance/help is greatly appreciated!     Hi guys, I'm currently building a dynamic menu bar(vertical and horizontal). in the default position its vertical. the user have the option to show the horizontal position and hide and vertical. I am currently doing that with javascript/ jquery. in order to keep the menu bar in the horizontal position i am keeping a count with a cookie. the problem is that when i use the click function in javascript i want to change the value of the cookie. i have no knowledge of how to do this.   • How to use MSBuild to create ClickOnce files that match those created by Visual Studio

    I am trying to use MSBuild in a TFS Build file to create click once files for my application. According to MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165431.aspx) it seems that the project file's click once settings should be used unless you override them with property arguments on the command line. However, even though I have specified (in VS) that some prerequisites should be bootstrapped in with the setup, they don't seem to get installed if I use the MSBuild command line to create the package, even though they do seem to get installed if I use Visual Studio to create the ClickOnce package. Please could someone advise me how to get my prerequisites to get installed via ClickOnce when the clickonce package is built using the MSBuild command line? For information, in Visual Studio, project properties, "Publish" tab, "Prerequisite" button, I have ticked "Create setup program to install prerequisite components", I have ticked my pre-requisites and I have specified "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site"

  • Dynamically add files to visual studio deployment project.

    I've been desperately looking for the answer to this and I feel I'm missing something obvious. I need to copy a folder full of data files into the TARGETDIR of my deployment project at compile time. I can see how I would add individual files (ie. right click in File System and go to Add-File) but I have a folder full of data files which constantly get added to. I'd prefer not to have to add the new files each time I compile. I have tried using a PreBuildEvent to copy the files: copy $(ProjectDir)..\Data*.* $(TargetDir)Data\ which fails with error code 1 when I build. I can't help but feel I'm missing the point here though. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Graeme

  • With sqlalchemy how to dynamically bind to database engine on a per-request basis

    I have a Pylons-based web application which connects via Sqlalchemy (v0.5) to a Postgres database. For security, rather than follow the typical pattern of simple web apps (as seen in just about all tutorials), I'm not using a generic Postgres user (e.g. "webapp") but am requiring that users enter their own Postgres userid and password, and am using that to establish the connection. That means we get the full benefit of Postgres security. Complicating things still further, there are two separate databases to connect to. Although they're currently in the same Postgres cluster, they need to be able to move to separate hosts at a later date. We're using sqlalchemy's declarative package, though I can't see that this has any bearing on the matter. Most examples of sqlalchemy show trivial approaches such as setting up the Metadata once, at application startup, with a generic database userid and password, which is used through the web application. This is usually done with Metadata.bind = create_engine(), sometimes even at module-level in the database model files. My question is, how can we defer establishing the connections until the user has logged in, and then (of course) re-use those connections, or re-establish them using the same credentials, for each subsequent request. We have this working -- we think -- but I'm not only not certain of the safety of it, I also think it looks incredibly heavy-weight for the situation. Inside the __call__ method of the BaseController we retrieve the userid and password from the web session, call sqlalchemy create_engine() once for each database, then call a routine which calls Session.bind_mapper() repeatedly, once for each table that may be referenced on each of those connections, even though any given request usually references only one or two tables. So the create_engine() calls occur on every request... I can see that being needed, and the Connection Pool probably caches them and does things sensibly. But calling Session.bind_mapper() once for each table, on every request? Seems like there has to be a better way. Obviously, since a desire for strong security underlies all this, we don't want any chance that a connection established for a high-security user will inadvertently be used in a later request by a low-security user.

    I've got a UITableViewCell which contains a UIWebView. The table view cell adjusts it's height depending on the web view contents. I've got it all working fine, however when the view loads, I get a constraint violation exception in the debugger (the app continues running and functionally works fine, but I'd like to resolve this exception if possible). How I've got it set up: The TableView sets the cell height like this: -(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if(indexPath.section == 0) { [_topCell layoutIfNeeded]; CGFloat finalHeight = [_topCell.contentView systemLayoutSizeFittingSize:UILayoutFittingCompressedSize].height; return finalHeight + 1; } The cell constraints are as follows: Arbitrary 7px offset from the cell's contentView (top) to the webView Web view has arbitrary fixed height constraint of 62px (will expand later once content loads) Arbitrary 8px offset from the webView to the cell's contentView (bottom) in my viewDidLoad, I tell the webView to go and load a URL, and in the webViewDidFinishLoad, I update the web view height constraint, like this -(void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView { CGSize fittingSize = [webView sizeThatFits:CGSizeZero]; // fittingSize is approx 500 [self.tableView beginUpdates]; // Exceptions happen on the following line setting the constant _topCell.webViewHeightConstraint.constant = fittingSize.height; [_topCell layoutSubviews]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; } The exception looks like this: Unable to simultaneously satisfy constraints. It's implied that the constraint which sets the height of the web view is going to be broken, however the web view does get it's height correctly set, and the tableview renders perfectly well. From my guesses, it looks like the newly increased web view height constraint (it's about 500px after the web view loads) is going to conflict with the <NSAutoresizingMaskLayoutConstraint:0x10967c210 h=--& v=--& V:[cellContent(78)] setting the cell height to 78 (put there by interface builder). This makes sense, however I don't want that cell content to have a fixed height of 78px, I want it to increase it's height, and functionally, it actually does this, just with these exceptions. I've tried setting _topCell.contentView.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints = NO; to attempt to remove the NSAutoresizingMaskLayoutConstraint - this stops the exceptions, but then all the other layout is screwed up and the web view is about 10px high in the middle of the table view for no reason. I've also tried setting _topCell.contentView.autoresizingMask |= UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; in the viewDidLoad to hopefully affect the contentView 78px height constraint, but this has no effect Any help would be much appreciated

  • How to create a compiler in vb.net

    Before answering this question, understand that I am not asking how to create my own programming language, I am asking how, using vb.net code, I can create a compiler for a language like vb.net itself. Essentially, the user inputs code, they get a .exe. By NO MEANS do I want to write my own language, as it seems other compiler related questions on here have asked. I also do not want to use the vb.net compiler itself, nor do I wish to duplicate the IDE. The exact purpose of what I wish to do is rather hard to explain, but all I need is a nudge in the right direction for writing a compiler (from scratch if possible) which can simply take input and create a .exe. I have opened .exe files as plain text before (my own programs) to see if I could derive some meaning from what I assumed would be human readable text, yet I was obviously sorely disappointed to see the random ascii, though it is understandable why this is all I found. I know that a .exe file is simply lines of code, being parsed by the computer it is on, but my question here really boils down to this: What code makes up a .exe? How could I go about making one in a plain text editor if I wanted to? (No, I do not want to do that, but if I understand the process my goals will be much easier to achieve.) What makes an executable file an executable file? Where does the logic of the code fit in? This is intended to be a programming question as opposed to a computer question, which is why I did not post it on SuperUser. I know plenty of information about the System.IO namespace, so I know how to create a file and write to it, I simply do not know what exactly I would be placing inside this file to get it to work as an executable file. I am sorry if this question is "confusing", "dumb", or "obvious", but I have not been able to find any information regarding the actual contents of an executable file anywhere. One of my google searches Something that looked promising EDIT: The second link here, while it looked good, was an utter fail. I am not going to waste hours of my time hitting keys and recording the results. "Use the "Alt" and the 3-digit combinations to create symbols that do not appear on the keyboard but that you need in the program." (step 4) How the heck do I know what symbols I need??? Thank you very much for your help, and my apologies if this question is a nooby or "bad" one. To sum this up simply: I want to create a program in vb.net that can compile code in a particular language to a single executable file. What methods exist that can allow me to do this, and if there are none, how can I go about writing my own from scratch?

    I have 2 comboBoxes in my View of Griffon App (or groovy swingBuilder) country = comboBox(items:country(), selectedItem: bind(target:model, 'country', value:model.country), actionPerformed: controller.getStates) state = comboBox(items:bind(source:model, sourceProperty:'states'), selectedItem: bind(target:model, 'state', value:model.state)) The getStates() in the controller, populates @Bindable List states = [] in the model based on the country selected. The above code doesn't give any errors, but the states are never populated. I changed the states from being List to a range object(dummy), it gives me an error MissingPropertyException No such property items for class java.swing.JComboBox. Am I missing something here? There are a couple of entries related to this on Nabble but nothing is clear. The above code works if I had a label instead of a second comboBox.

    I'm displaying a table with multiple rows and columns. I'm using a JQUERY plugin called uiTableFilter which uses a text field input and filters (shows/hides) the table rows based on the input you provide. All you do is specify a column you want to filter on, and it will display only rows that have the text field input in that column. Simple and works fine. I want to add a SECOND text input field that will help me narrow the results down even further. So, for instance if I had a PETS table and one column was petType and one was petColor -- I could type in CAT into the first text field, to show ALL cats, and then in the 2nd text field, I could type black, and the resulting table would display only rows where BLACK CATS were found. Basically, a subset. Here is the JQUERY I'm using: $("#typeFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( theTable, this.value, "petType" ); } }) // end typefilter $("#colorFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( newTable, this.value, "petColor" ); } }) // end colorfilter Problem is, I can use one filter, and it will display the correct subset of table rows, but when I provide input for the other filter, it doesn't seem to recognize the visible table rows that are remaining from the previous column, but instead it appears that it does an entirely new filtering of the original table. If 10 rows are returned after applying one filter, the 2nd filter should only apply to THOSE 10 rows. I've tried LIVE and BIND, but not working. Can anyone shed some light on where I'm going wrong?     I want to display an image when printing a page from MS Page using the FilePageSetupHeader. It all works fine if I pass in the parameter for the Text property as a string as such FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:="&P""C:\filepath\image.gif""" However, I'd prefer to be able to pass the filepath to the image to display as a variable. Somehow I can't get it right. So if I try something like the following: vImagePath = """&P""""" & prjFilePath & "\image.gif"""""" FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:=vImagePath it just displays the path as a string. I'm pretty sure it boils down to something simple like escaping the quotes in the correct way, but I've been playing around with it for a while now and I can't seem to get it right. Any idea how this works?
