  Hey, I am having a problem with cURL here. My localhost has curl with openssl enabled, and thus my php code works fine. On running phpinfo() I get the following -- curl cURL support enabled cURL Information libcurl/7.19.5 OpenSSL/0.9.8g zlib/1.2.3.3 libidn/1.15 However, on my other office server, curl does not have openssl support enabled. On running phpinfo() I get the following -- curl cURL support enabled cURL Information libcurl/7.20.1 zlib/1.2.3.3 How do I get openssl support for curl ? Both - openssl and curl - are installed on the office server as of now. I require immediate help. Thank you.

• Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 Certified on Solaris 11

  Oracle Solaris 11 was announced last week, and I'm pleased to also announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 is now certified on Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit). This new operating system release represents a culmination of years of hard work by our Solaris engineering group.  It has a number of new and advanced features including simplified deployment and lifecycle management tools, built-in certified virtualization technologies, support on the latest generation SPARC chips, and more. New installations of the E-Business Suite R12 on this platform will require version 12.1.1 or higher and the latest Rapid Install startCD version 12.1.1.13.  For existing 12.1 installations, we have also certified an "in place" OS upgrade or the use of cloning to a target Solaris 11 system. There are also specific requirements to upgrade technology components such as the Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware.  These requirements are noted in the links below. • Can't set screen brightness in Gentoo system

  My system: Linux gentoo 3.10.7-gentoo-r1 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT216M [GeForce GT 240M] (rev a2) output of xbacklight: No outputs have backlight property output of xrandr: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 720, maximum 1280 x 768 default connected 1280x720+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1280x720 0.0* 1024x768 61.0 800x600 61.0 640x480 60.0 1280x768 0.0 output of ls /proc/acpi: button/ event When I'm in kernel 3.8.13, I can change my brightness using xbacklight. I compiled 3.10.7-r1 using genkernel all. Before the upgrade I did get a notice of "compatible issues for Nvdia users" from emerge but I still don't know the details. It there anyway to let me set the brightness? Then i found a ebuild app-laptop/nvdiabl-0.81 and tried to emerege nvidabl, I got this message: Your kernel does not support FB_BACKLIGHT. To enable you it you can enable any frame buffer with backlight control or nouveau. Note that you cannot use FB_NVIDIA with nvidia's proprietary driver Please check to make sure these options are set correctly. Failure to do so may cause unexpected problems. Once you have satisfied these options, please try merging this package again. • FreeType2 Crash on FT_Init_FreeType

  I'm currently trying to learn how to use the FreeType2 library for drawing fonts with OpenGL. However, when I start the program it immediately crashes with the following error: "(Can't correctly start the application (0xc000007b))" Commenting the FT_Init_FreeType removes the error and my game starts just fine. I'm wondering if it's my code or has something to do with loading the dll file. My code: #include "SpaceGame.h" #include <ft2build.h> #include FT_FREETYPE_H //Freetype test FT_Library library; Game::Game(int Width, int Height) { //Freetype FT_Error error = FT_Init_FreeType(&library); if(error) { cout << "Error occured during FT initialisation" << endl; } And my current use of the FreeType2 files. Inside my bin folder (where debug .exe is located) is: freetype6.dll, libfreetype.dll.a, libfreetype-6.dll. In Code::Blocks, I've linked to the lib and include folder of the FreeType 2.3.5.1 version. And included a compiler flag: -lfreetype My program starts perfectly fine if I comment out the FT_Init function which means the includes, and library files should be fine. I can't find a solution to my problem and google isn't helping me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

• If You Include the Groovy Editor...

  ...in a NetBeans RCP application, what additional JARs will you need to include for the Groovy Editor to work? Leaving aside the debate on the current state & quality of the NetBeans Groovy Editor, so, assuming you need the Groovy support that the NetBeans Groovy Editor provides, you would check the Groovy Editor checkbox in the Project Properties dialog of your application: As you can see, however, the Groovy Editor depends on other modules, some of which, in turn, depend on yet other modules, and so on. So, I clicked the "Resolve" button above and then created a ZIP distribution, to see which additional JARs had been included. Until that point, I had only been using the "platform" cluster, which means that absolutely everything found in the ZIP's "ide" cluster and "java" cluster have only been included so that the Groovy Editor could be included, i.e., all thanks to clicking the "Resolve" button above. Let's first look at what that means for the "java" cluster: That's not so bad and kind of a side effect of Groovy being Java, i.e., a lot of Java functionality is needed. Now let's look at the "ide" cluster: So, in answer to the original question, if all you want in your NetBeans Platform application, in terms of editor functionality, is the Groovy Editor, then you have a pretty high price to pay. At the very least, I would have assumed that the project support JARs and the debugger support JARs would not be so tightly coupled with the Groovy Editor. That would be a cool thing to separate out from the editor support.

• How do you keep from running into the same problems over and over?

  I keep running into the same problems. The problem is irrelevant, but the fact that I keep running into is completely frustrating. The problem only happens once every, 3-6 months or so as I stub out a new iteration of the project. I keep a journal every time, but I spend at least a day or two each iteration trying to get the issue resolved. How do you guys keep from making the same mistakes over and over? I've tried a journal but it apparently doesn't work for me. [Edit] A few more details about the issue: Each time I make a new project to hold the files, I import a particular library. The library is a C++ library which imports glew.h and glx.h GLX redefines BOOL and that's not kosher since BOOL is a keyword for ObjC. I had a fix the last time I went through this. I #ifndef the header in the library to exclude GLEW and GLX and everything worked hunky-dory. This time, however, I do the same thing, use the same #ifndef block but now it throws a bunch of errors. I go back to the old project, and it works. New project no-worky. It seems like it does this every time, and my solution to it is new each time for some reason. I know #defines and #includes are one of the trickiest areas of C++ (and cross-language with Objective-C), but I had this working and now it's not.

  Question: Is it possible to use FM radio WITHOUT internet connection or special devices ? On my Android phone, I can plug in the headphones, which are in turn used as antenna. Since Android is Linux and Ubuntu is also Linux, it should be possible to do this on a plain old Ubuntu notebook (13.04), too. Is it ? If yes, which application can I use for FM-Radio ? • The Middle of Every Project

  I read a quote somewhere “The middle of every successful project looks like a mess.” or something to that effect. I suppose the projects where the beginning, middle and end are a mess are the ones you need to watch out for. Right now we are in ramp up of the maintenance/support teams at a big project in the Nordics. We are facing a year of mixed mode operations, where we have production operations and the phased rollout to new locations in parallel. The support team supports, and the deployment team deploys. As usual the assumption right up to about a month or so before initial go-live was that the deployment team would carry the support. Not! Consequently we had a last minute scramble over the Christmas/New Year to fire up a support/maintenance team. While it is a bit messy and not perfect – the quality of the mess (I mean scramble) is not so bad. Weekly operational review with the operational delivery managers, written issue lists and assigned actions, candid discussions getting the problems on the table and documented, issues getting solved and moved off the table. So while the middle of a project might look like a mess (even the start) it is methodical use of project management tools of checklists and scheduled communication points that are helping us navigate out of the mess and bring it all under control.

• Supporting copy 'n paste in your Windows Phone app

  Some Windows Phone 7 owners already have the NoDo update, and others are getting it soon. This update brings, among other things, copy & paste support for text boxes. The user taps on a piece of text (and can drag in either direction to select more/less words), a popup icon appears that when tapped copies the text to the clipboard, and then at any app that shows the soft input panel there is an icon option to paste the copied text into the associated textbox. For more read this 'how to'. Note that there is no programmatic access to the clipboard, only the end user experience I just summarized, so there is nothing you need to do for your app's textboxes to support copy & paste: it just works. The only issue may be if in your app you use static TextBlock controls, for which the copy support will not appear, of course. That was the case with my Translator by Moth app where the translated text appears in a TextBlock. So, I wanted the user to be able to copy directly from the translated text (without offering an editable TextBox for an area where user input does not make sense). Take a look at a screenshot of my app before I made any changes to it. I then made changes to it preserving the look and feel, yet with additional copy support (see screenshot on the right)! So how did I achieve that?   Hello I am trying to install node.js on debian AMD64. I got node.js from git. When I do ./configure a bunch of "checking for program" messages say "not found". I want to resolve all these and ensure everything needed is present. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to resolve the "not found" messages?
