• How to delete "-" file from svn?

  Accidentally I have created file "-" (just a minus) in a directory and commited it. I have to delete it because its causing error on other machines: svn: Can't convert string from 'UTF-8' to native encoding: svn: ?\226?\128?\147 I can remove it from local directory using "rm -i *" or with python "os.remove('\xe2\x80\x93')" but those methods do not work with "svn rm". How to delete such file from svn repository?

  I am looking for a cross platform RAD IDE with GUI building. NetBeans looks right (or am aI wrong?). However, I may want to code somethings in C++ and some in Python. It looks like both are supported, but I am not sure if I need to install two copies of NetBeans or if one can handle both programming languages.   Hi, I first learned C++ then moved to C (I know kind of backwards) and then I found a thing called iTunes U and began watching programming classes to extend my knowledge and noticed that Stanford and MIT both did not teach C or C++ as an introduction to computer programming. Then I began to wonder why they didn't begin teaching C/C++ because I thought C/C++ was more efficient than Java (which Stanford taught) and Python (which MIT taught). Or maybe there is no particular reason?

  I'm using {% url facebook_xd_receiver %} in one of my HTML files. This works just fine when I run my project using the command python manage.py runserver But the same project stops running and gives me a "TemplateSyntaxError" at the line {% url facebook_xd_receiver %} Can anyone please tell me what could be the difference between the dev server run through the command line and the apache server. Is there anything I'm missing out on while configuring the Apache server? Or is it a Django problem?

• Community based translating system

  Since we don't funds to hire translators for getting multiple languages translated we want the community to do the translation for us. Its a social network. I can't find any good open souce framework to auto do this. Thinking something like: User selects a language, system displays random sentences and user will translate it. Then other users can vote on how good it is. If it's 100 votes + with 95% yes then it becomes official. Site is in PHP. Any ideas?

  This is not a technical question, but rather a social and methodical one. I am a computer sciences student and I usually have really tough programming assignments. I don`t know if it is only happening to me but sometimes, particularly when deadline is approaching, i find myself in a harsh situation. I cannot find my mistake in the code or come up with a another great idea. Then boredom comes in and the problem begins to seem unsolvable. I know there are more-than-great professional coders here. I would like to learn their ideas to cope with this situation. Is it better to focus on something else for a while and try again or try harder and harder and look for the solution on the net etc...

  Hello there, I want to do a project Hadoop and map reduce and present it as my graduation project. To this, I've given some thought,searched over the internet and came up with the idea of implementing some basic knowledge mining algorithms say on a social websites like Facebook or may stckoverflow, Quora etc and draw some statistical graphs, comparisons frequency distributions and other sort of important values.For searching purpose would it be wise to use Apache Solr ? I want know If such thing is feasible using the above mentioned tools, if so how should I build up on this little idea? Where can I learn about knowledge mining algorithms which are easy to implement using java and map reduce techniques? In case this is a wrong idea please suggest what else can otherwise be done on using Hadoop and other related sub-projects? Thank you

  Hi, So i just started trying to develop a simple webpart today for a sharepoint foundation i put on a virtual machine. I have no previous experience with sharepoint whatsoever. As i cant run a sharepoint 2010 on my local machine for dev purposes i followed advices in this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepoint2010programming/thread/cda807f6-4edf-4efc-8e9b-4d446356c8ae to able to actually develop something (just the registry bit). I created the simple test web part (writes out "hi"), uploaded it to virtual machine, added it with add-spsolution and install-spsolution in powershell with success. When i do get-solution through powershell on my webpart it says deployed = true. What am i missing from here to get it to actually show up somewhere in the web interface so i can add it to a page?   I have a checkboxes on my site that when unchecked, update their row in in the db as unchecked, and if checked,update their row in the db as checked. I am creating an ifstatement that will commence with its command if checked, and not if unchecked. I have echoed the variable and it is holding the proper value (checked or unchecked) but not sure if I am syntactically correct on displaying the state of the row in the db. • Migrating an Access Database into SharePoint 2007.

  To my surprise and delight I read that an adminsitrator can import (nearly directly) an Access 2007 database into a sharepoint site. Automagically, the database in transformed into lists and views with some table lookup thrown in for good measure. With Access 2007 installed on the client machine, even the forms and what not can still be reused. To me... this sounds to good to be true. Has anyone actually dones this? With all this good news, where is the bad stuff and pitfalls to this. Depending on the size of the database, wouldn't this some how "gum up the works" in the SharPoint database? • Visual Studio & RAD support for coding directly in IL?

  For the longest time I've been curious to code in Intermediate Language just as an academic endeavour and to gain a better understanding of what's "happening under the hood". Does anybody provide Visual Studio support for *IL in the form of: project templates, IntelliSense integration, and those kind of RAD features? Edits: I don't mean restricted to out of the box support. For example, I can download Visual Studio extensions to support Python, COBOL, etc. Want the same for *IL. There is a stand-alone Intermediate Assembler tool.
