• Tokenizing Twitter Posts in Lucene

  Hello, My question in a nutshell: Does anyone know of a TwitterAnalyzer or TwitterTokenizer for Lucene? More detailed version: I want to index a number of tweets in Lucene and keep the terms like @user or #hashtag intact. StandardTokenizer does not work because it discards the punctuation (but it does other useful stuff like keeping domain names, email addresses or recognizing acronyms). How can I have an analyzer which does everything StandardTokenizer does but does not touch terms like @user and #hashtag? My current solution is to preprocess the tweet text before feeding it into the analyzer and replace the characters by other alphanumeric strings. For example, String newText = newText.replaceAll("#", "hashtag"); newText = newText.replaceAll("@", "addresstag"); Unfortunately this method breaks legitimate email addresses but I can live with that. • How to automate a build for a Visual FoxPro project?

  I'm interested in figuring out how to automate a build from Visual FoxPro similar to how we can build .NET projects from the command line using MSBuild. It seems that it is possible to pass command line arguments to VFP.exe which may include the ability to specify some initial startup prg that runs however it is unclear how well starting up the IDE will work from non-interactive accounts such as the Network Service on Windows which is likely where an automated build would run. Has anybody attempt this before or read about anybody attempting to script a VFP build like this? I would be grateful for any pointers that may lead me to a solution.

• trying to decide between asp.net and jsp

  Hey Guys, I am wondering if anyone can shed some lights on the situation. I am about to start a project and trying to figure out what solution is best to go with asp.net or java jsp pages I have personally worked alot with .net and am really happy with the framework and Visual studio as IDE I find it easy to work with and there is a massive community support behind .net, i can get alot done quickly I have not every written anything use java jsp, there will be a learning curve here , so my experience is limited here. however after seeing jira i am very impressed with its capabilities, it has changed alot since the old days ( java 1.2 ) that i used to work with, and the fact that it runs under linux is a huge plus, so i am trying to decide is the learning curve, worth the price ? so given the situation above what would you recommended? • Silverlight WCF service acting strange

  Hi I have a silverlight project that calls into a wcf service. Everything works fine on my local machine. However when I deploy to a virtual machine, with the exact same query the wcf service returns, but the result is empty. I've tried debugging, but have not been able to get it to break in the wcf service. Any ideas what the problem could be, or how I could go about debugging it? Thanks I figured out what the problem is, but am not sure what the solution is. In my silverlight project the wcf service I am referencing is http://localhost/.../SilverlightApiService.svc I used fiddler on my vm to see the request that was made and instead of trying to contact the above service, it was trying to contact: http:///.../SilverlightApiService.svc So, for some reason my machine name is getting inserted in there instead of localhost. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

• XML deserialization doesn't read in second level

  Sorry if the title doesn't make much sense, but I'm not too familiar with the terminology. My question is: I have a config.xml file for a program I'm working on. I created an xsd file by 'xsd.exe config.xml'. I then took this xsd and added it to the solution in visual studio. My last step used a program called xsd2code that turned that xsd file into a class I can serialize too. The problem is it doesn't read more then a layer deep in the xml tree. By this I mean the elements in the root node get deserialized into my object, but those that are in a node inside the root node are not. I found this out by putting a breakpoint after the deserialization and looking at my object. Any Ideas? Let me know if this needs some clarification or you need a snippet of something.

  I need to find the highest value from the database that satisfies a certain formatting convention. Specifically, I would like to fund the highest value that looks like EU999999 ('9' being any digit) select max(col) will return something like 'EUZ...' for instance that I want to exclude. The following query does the trick, but I can't produce this via Linq-to-SQL. There seems to be no translation for the isnumeric() function in SQL Server. select max(col) from table where col like 'EU%' and 1=isnumeric(replace(col, 'EU', '')) Writing a database function, stored procedure, or anything else of that nature is far down the list of my preferred solutions, because this table is central to my app and I cannot easily replace the table object with something else. What's the next-best solution?

  I have a similar question than django cross-site reverse. But i think I can't apply the same solution. I'm creating an app that lets the users create their own site. After completing the signup form the user should be redirected to his site's new post form. Something along this lines: new_post_url = 'http://%s.domain:9292/manage/new_post %site.domain' logged_user = authenticate(username=user.username, password=user.password) if logged_user is not None: login(request, logged_user) return redirect(new_product_url) Now, I know that "new_post_url" is awful and makes babies cry so I need to reverse it in some way. I thought in using django.core.urlresolvers.reverse to solve this but that only returns urls on my domain, and not in the user's newly created site, so it doesn't works for me. So, do you know a better/smarter way to solve this?

• How to turn off particular monitor with .NET?

  OK, I know there are quite a few posts on this topic. However, none of them provide the solution to my issue: I don't want just to turn off my monitor(s), I wish my code to turn off a specific monitor. The URL the most people refer to, http://fci-h.blogspot.com/2007/03/turn-off-your-monitor-via-code-c.html, doesn't help here, as it turns off all the displays. So, I have my laptop screen and an additional external monitor. While I'm watching movies, I switch the display to the external monitor and my laptop screen goes black, however, it's still on and glowing in the dark. I wish to turn it off. Could anyone help please?

  Please help me find a good solution for this problem. We have n boxes with 3 dimensions. We can orient them and we want to put them on top of another to have a maximun height. We can put a box on top of an other box, if 2 dimensions (width and lenght) are lower than the dimensions of the box below. For exapmle we have 3 dimensions w*D*h, we can show it in to (h*d,d*h,w*d,d*W,h*w,w*h) please help me to solve it in graph theory.

  Hi there. I am writing a WWW application, it has to run under IE. I have the problem with the code that runs under FF, but i can't get it running under IE. // JS code function test() { if (window.event.keyCpde == 13) window.location.href.ssign("myPage.php"); } I've tried some similar ways around window.location and location.href, also document.location. I've read that IE has problems with that, so i ask for a solution. The goal is, that page reloads after typing in some text into <input type='text' name='item_code' onKeyDown='test()'> and click enter. So the result is similar to pressing submit type button below the text input. Within IE it reloads the same page and nothing happens. In FF it correctly works.

  I'm trying to connect to my phone from my Windows 7 PC using PySerial with the following code: import wmi import serial c = wmi.WMI() modem = c.query("SELECT * FROM Win32_POTSModem").pop() ser = serial.Serial(modem.AttachedTo, modem.MaxBaudRateToSerialPort) try: ser.write('at \r\n') print ser.readline() finally: ser.close() But get the following error on the write call: Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\Alasdair\Documents\Python Scripts\Phone Interface\test.py", line 14, in <module> ser.write('at \r\n') File "C:\Python26\Lib\site-packages\serial\serialwin32.py", line 255, in write raise SerialException("WriteFile failed (%s)" % ctypes.WinError()) SerialException: WriteFile failed ([Error 6] The handle is invalid.) I've tried connecting with TeraTerm and that works fine, so it's not a problem with the connection to the phone itself.   Say I am creating a Textbox in the codebehind of a page like this: protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { base.OnInit(e); TextBox test = new TextBox(); test.SkinkId = "MySkin"; placeHolder.Controls.Add(test); } and in my skin file I have this: <asp:TextBox runat="server" SkinId = "MySkin" Width="400" /> Why is the skin not beeing applied to the control. If i declare the control in my aspx page it works ok, but if I try to do it programatically it does not work... Any solution? Thanks Luis

• Removing the obstacle that yields the best path from a map after A* traversal

  I traverse a 16x16 maze using my own A* implementation. This is exactly what my program does: http://www.screenjelly.com/watch/fDQh98zMP0c?showTab=share All is well. However, after the traversal, I would like to find out what wall would give me the best alternative path. Apart from removing every block and re-running A* on the maze, what's a clever solution? I was thinking give every wall node (ignored by A*), a tentative F-value, and change the node structure to also have a n-sized list of node *tentative_parent where n is the number of walls in the maze. Could this be viable?

  Hi, I am looking for a solution for this scenario - I need to implement a feature to allow user to add various controls to canvas(WPF, custom and third party ) and then select any one of them and modify some properties in property grid(changes needs to be reflected in UI). I don't want to expose all the properties of any control only some of them(relevant to end user); apart from this there are some properties which will be common for all controls e.g. Title, Value(Value will be bound to some property of a control, say Text of TextBox and Content of Label) etc. I am thinking of putting all the common proeprties at one place. Things I am confused aout - How to create such base class, whether to use UserControl or Custom Control for this? How will the binding work between Control, base class proeprties and PropertyGrid? What type of object will I expose to property grid? Any idea on what approch should be followed in this case, any kind of input will really be helpful.

  Hi, I am trying to extend Visual Studio 2010 RC to be able to use a custom programming language. The first two things I've tried to do is a syntax highlight/Intellisense feature (easily done, thanks to "Ook!" sample from PDC09) and a possibility to create new project templates (i.e. be able to open *.myproj files). For this second task, I can't find any easy tutorials or samples. Most samples are for Visual Studio 2008 (as for IronPython integration) or even VS2003. The few samples available for VS2010 do not work (including MPFProj) or do not compile, and are too hard to understand. Is there any easy-to-understand sample, either using MPFProj or a standalone solution, showing how to integrate templates for a custom language inside Visual Studio 2010?

• SSRS 2005 - Usability analysis - Is SSRS a good option for this scenario?

  How practical is it to consider SSRS 2005 or SSRS 2008 as a reporting solution for a report that has to show reports with millions of records (records vary from 3 to 10 million)? Is there any threshold on the size of report in SSRS? How do I know that for a huge report, wheather SSRS will consume the whole memory and start paging the operations to disk or it will give a memory leak error? Even if I keep on increasing the memory how can I be sure that certain memory will be sufficient for such huge reports for the report server? All the above questions are haunting me because I have a dedicated report server with a decent hardware and OS configuration (8 processors, 8GB RAM, 64 bit OS and 64 bit SQL Server 2005). Still my report with around 2 million records is taking more than 6 minutes and going from one page to another takes 3 minutes!!! My datasource is on separate server and when I execute only the stored proc there, it returns the results in less than 2 minutes.

  Hi, I'm using a recursive tree of hashmaps, specifically Hashmap map where Object is a reference to another Hashmap and so on. This will be passed around a recursive algorithm: foo(String filename, Hashmap<String, Object> map) { //some stuff here for (Entry<String, Object> entry : map.entrySet()) { //type warning that must be suppressed foo(entry.getKey(), (HashMap<String, Object>)entry.getValue()); } } I know for sure Object is of type Hashmap<String, Object> but am irritated that I have to suppress the warning using @SuppressWarnings("unchecked"). I'll be satisfied with a solution that does either a assert(/*entry.getValue() is of type HashMap<String, Object>*/) or throws an exception when it isn't. I went down the Generics route for compile type safety and if I suppress the warning then it defeats the purpose. Thank you for your comments, ksb

• Visual Studio 2008 "Publish" option generates some empty folders

  When I right click an ASP.NET MVC solution and select the "Publish" option, the final output it generates contains several empty top-level folders. For instance, the "Service References" folder that gets automatically added when you add a service reference to a web app is generated without any files in it. Why are these folders generated at all if there's no content in them? Is there a way to let Visual Studio know to not bother publishing them? This isn't a big deal since it doesn't really affect the app (and before deploying I can always delete the empty folders), but it's a little annoying.

I haven't seen on the web many people have asked the seemingly simple question "How do I connect Access 2007 to an SQL server 2008 database" - but all of the answers describe how you can migrate from access 2007 to an sql server 2008 database, or they describe how to connect access 2007 to an sql server 2005 database. I can't find any simple solution to my problem (and probably this is a problem for many others). Here is the question (sorry for the over emphasis): How do I connect to an sql server 2008 database (and I mean 2008, not 2005 :) ) from access 2007? Apologies again for the over emphasis, but this very simple question, and what I thought should be a very simple task seems, yes, ... impossible! I tried running sql server browser, enabling pipes, TCP etc, but it seems that with 2008 SQLEXPRESS just isn't recognised! Please can someone help with this. Peter

  My program sets "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" value "Hidden". Hovewer I'm not able to refresh the explorer to take into account this change. So what should I do? If I refresh Explorer myself with F5, then it works.
