  I have this url with some xml data in it: http://64.182.231.116/~spencerf/union_college/Upperclass_Sample_Menu.xml And I would like to load this xml data into my javascript script so I can parse it. I am using parse.com Javascript SDK, in there cloud code.   I'd like to run a script on release that replaces all url() declarations in a css file with the full domain path, because images are hosted on a static web server. • Preventing SQL injecting in a database class

  I'm building a database class and thought it'd be a good idea to incorporate some form of SQL injection prevention (duh!). Here's the method that runs a database query: class DB { var $db_host = 'localhost'; var $db_user = 'root'; var $db_passwd = ''; var $db_name = 'whatever'; function query($sql) { $this->result = mysql_query($sql, $this->link); if(!$this->result) { $this->error(mysql_error()); } else { return $this->result; } } } There's more in the class than that but I'm cutting it down just for this. The problem I'm facing is if I just use mysql_real_escape_string($sql, $this->link); then it escapes the entire query and leads to a SQL syntax error. How can I dynamically find the variables that need to be escaped? I want to avoid using mysql_real_escape_string() in my main code blocks, i'd rather have it in a function. Thanks.

Am I right? I am confused why the increasedObject2 prints 5 and not 6. Can anyone please explain?

  I have a Java program that processes one file at a time. This Java program is called from a wrapper script which logs the return code from the Java program. There are 2 types of errors. Expected errors and unexpected errors. In both cases I just need to log them. My wrapper knows about 3 different states. 0-OK, 1-PROCESSING_FAILED, 2- ERROR. Is this a valid approach? • How to fork my android app?

  So I've written my first Android app, ... and want to be able to provide both free and paid versions. I wrote and compiled it in Eclipse on Windows. I'm wondering if it is possible, and how I would go about doing so, to have separate compile jobs somehow, so that I can maintain my free and paid versions from one set of source code, and just leave out certain bits for the paid version, but keep the main source the same. What are the recommended ways/best practices for devving a paid and free version of the same app from one set of source? Is it even possible?

  What I am trying to do is print out the contents of a file line by line. I run the program in terminal by doing: ./test testText.txt. When I do this, random characters are printed out but not what is in the file. The text file is located in the same folder as the makefile.   I am using swing to create my GUI. J have a JFrame containing one main JPanel which, in its turn contain several JPanels which, in their turn, contain buttons. I would like to set certain sizes to mu buttons and JPanels. How does it work? Should I set sizes of my buttons and then the size of the JPanel and the JFrame will be set according to the buttons sizes? Or it works in the opposite direction? I set size for the JPanel and the size of the buttons will be set automatically?

• Does the API call ExitProcess() work OK in VB6 if you follow the MS caveats?

  Microsoft indicates that VB6 doesn't support ExitProcess (to exit and return a value). However, it indicates that this call can fail under certain circumstances (if a thread hasn't been completed, etc.) so I'm wondering whether this call will work OK (consistently :-) as long as you obey the caveats in the article. I could go a step further and call ExitProcess() from the Sub Main or Form which stared the app. Update: after some more reading (I really did research this a bit before asking ) I found a suggestion to use the TerminateProcess API instead. I'm investigating that option. Any thoughts?

  I have tried multiple ways to have a single persistent timer update the ui in multiple activities, and nothing seems to work. I have tried an AsyncTask, a Handler, and a CountDownTimer. The code below does not execute the first Log.i statement....
