WPF Visual Studio Package gives error: Could not find endpoint element with name 'WCFname' and contr

Hi everybody. This error has been covered before in other questions, however not for a Visual Studio package. Could not find endpoint element with name 'WCFname' and contract 'WCFcontract' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. I have a VS package project that needs to connect to a WCF service that provides some functionality. Everytime it just throws this error: Could not find endpoint element with name 'WSHttpBinding_IWCFSearchService' and contract 'WCFSearchServiceReference.IWCFSearchService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. My guess is that it's taking the configuration file for Visual Studio (since it is running VS experimental mode). So yeah...why isn't it recognizing the app.config file and how could I make the application to recognize it? Any help would be very welcomed as I have already tried to fix this for some time. XML Socket and Regular Socket in Flash/Flex does not send message immediately.

I am trying to build a basic RIA where my Flex application client opens an XML socket, sends the xml message "people_list" to server, and prints out the response. I have ruby at the server side and I have successfully set up the security policy stuff. The ruby xml server, successfully accepts the connections from Flex, successfully detects when they are closed and can also send messages to client. But; there is a problem... It cannot receive messages from flex client. The messages sent from flex client are queued and sent as one package when the socket is closed. Therefore, the whole wait-for-request-then-reply thing is not working... This is also -kinda- mentioned in the XMLSocket.send() document, where it is stated that the messages are sent async so; they may be delivered at any time in future. But; I need them to be synced, flushed or whatever. Why Won't the WebSocket.onmessage Event Fire?

Hey guys, After toying around with this for hours, I simply cannot find a solution. I'm working on a WebSocket server using "node.js" for a canvas based online game I'm developing. My game can connect to the server just fine, it accepts the handshake and can even send messages to the server. However, when the server responds to the client, the client doesn't get the message. No errors, nothing, it just sits there peacefully. I've ripped apart my code, trying everything I could think of to fix this, but alas, nothing. Here's a stripped copy of my server code. Exception using SQLiteDataReader

I'm making a Custom SQLite Wrapper. This is meant to allow a presistent connection to a database. WinForms Menu Toolstrip Get Status

So I have a project where there is some automatic initialization going on through some classes that are created automatically as global variables (yeah they are static instances). At a point inside this (it has no relation with the C# GUI for the user, so it isn't derived from any C# class) I need to see if a flag is set or not. I use toolstrip menu with checked and unchecked status in order to set or unset the flag. The problem is that I have difficulties to see if the flag is checked or not from this static class. My class is inside a different project/namespace and a DLL is created what later is linked to the GUI of the application. The GUI depends from this Manager class so making the Manager class to depend from the GUI is not an option. Nevertheless, I should be able to see its state knowing its name or through some other means. What Is The Best Database For Delphi Desktop Applications That Supports Stored Procedures?

I started with Turbo Pascal 3, went to TP5, Bought TP6 called Borland the next day and downgraded to TP5.5. Bought Delphi 3, and now have Delphi 5 Enterprise. I sort of lost interest in writing code about 4-5 years ago for two reasons; Spent all day writing ASP & SQL for someone else. PC Techniques magazine went away. I've got a few programs in the shareware market that are solid performers but are in need of serious updating. I love Delphi or did when it was Borland (before Borland bought DBase and all the other crap), I'd like to salvage as much of my D5E code as possible but I doubt I can. I plan on upgrading to Delphi 2010. My next software release needs to interact with a database. I'm very proficient with MS Sql and like to put all of the database code in stored procedures. What is the best database choice that interacts well with Delphi, allows stored procedures and is so easy to deploy that even the Geico gecko could deploy it? 10/25/2009 18:53 PM EST Re-Opened After Reading Install Docs for Delphi 2010 I downloaded a trial version of Delphi 2010 and unzipped the install. I've been reading the install docs included in the package. MSSQL driver requires the installation of the SQL Native Client. SQL Native Client 2008 is required for dbxmss.dll. SQL Native Client 2005 is required for dbxmss9.dll I checked my machine to see if SQL Native Client is installed. Nope. I wasn't done reading the docs so I made a note to install SQL Native Client. I googled dbxmss.dll and dbxmss9.dll and found a very interesting thread on the Embarcadero forums. read thread here. After reading this thread and some careful thought I don't think I will be using Microsoft SQL Express. I can't rely on my customers having the right drivers installed. So, I'm back to looking for a different solution. If I'm selling a $40 product to the general masses I need to have a bulletproof solution that doesn't require my brand new customer to update their machine before my software will work.

WSIT, Maven, and wsimport -- Can They Work Together?

Hi all, I'm working on a small-ish multi-module project in Maven. We've separated the UI from the database layer using Web Services, and thanks to the jaxws-maven-plugin, the creation of the WSDL and WS client are more or less handled for us. (The plugin is essentially a wrapper around wsgen and wsimport.) So far so good. The problem comes when I try to layer WSIT security into the picture. NetBeans allows me to generate the security metadata easily, but wsimport seems completely incapable of dealing with anything beyond a Basic-auth level of security. I have also tried using wsimport from the command line to point to the Tomcat-generated WSDL, which has the additional security info. Nothing, however, seems to change the composition of the wsimport-generated files at all. So I guess my question here is, to get a WSIT-compliant client, am I stuck abandoning Maven and the jaxws plugin altogether? Is there a way to get a WSIT client to auto-generate? Or will I need to generate the client by hand? Let me know if you need any additional info beyond what I've written here. I'm deploying to Tomcat, although that doesn't seem to be an issue, as Maven seems happy to pull Metro into the deployed WAR file. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I'm writing an application with GWT and I found on the internet that there's a library to use easily gdata features. In particular I need to use the integration with Google Calendar. I followed the official guide on gwt-gdata site to do the authentication ( http://code.google.com/p/gwt-gdata/wiki/GettingStarted ) but unfortunately, I got an error. Any way to simulate MouseOver in WPF

I'm working on a link control in WPF which fits the text with icon links case in the Windows UX Guide. What I want is to have some text within a hyperlink that appears to the right of some image. In my case I started off by using a TextBlock that contained a Hyperlink which then contained my image and some text. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <Run>My link text</Run> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however was that the image being taller than my text produced an effect where the text was aligned to the bottom. Unfortunately I haven't found any way to control the vertical alignment within the TextBlock or within the Hyperlink so I've resorted to attempting an alternative layout where the Hyperlink and the Rectangle that represent my vector icon are separated in order to get them to align properly like shown below. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center"><Hyperlink>My link text<Hyperlink></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however is that now that my Icon and my Hyperlink are separated I don't get my MouseOver appearance of my link when I the mouse is over my icon and vise-versa. So this got me to thinking, how do I simulate MouseOver for a given control such with a checkbox where you get the MouseOver effect on the box when you actually mouse over it's associated text. I know in the HTML world the label element has a for attribute that can be used to specify which control it is labeling which will basically do what I'm looking for. Also I can imagine that in other scenarios it may be nice to have a label that when you mouse over shows a corresponding text box as if the mouse is over it and possibly when clicked focus is given to the corresponding text box as well. For now though I'm interested mainly in how to to get a label or label like element in WPF to act as a proxy for a given control in terms of it's MouseOver state. Also I would like to do this purely in XAML if possible.

Debugging HTML & JavaScript with Firebug

I made a JSONP widget. However, when one of the partner sites put it in their page, (1) it doesn't render at all in IE and (2) in other browsers (Firefox & Google Chrome), the HTML of the widget renders incorrectly: the <aside> closes prematurely, before the Financial Aid Glossary. It's something specific to that page because it works fine on this example college resource center page. To fix these two issues, I tried saving the page source to a local file and messing around with the local file and with Firebug, deleting DOM elements and stuff. I even tried fixing the errors that The W3C Markup Validation Service found. But, I still couldn't get it to render correctly. How should I tell them to change their page so that the widget renders correctly? Or, how should I update the widget script I wrote? Does oneway declaration in Android .aidl guarantee that method will be called in a separate thread?

I am designing a framework for a client/server application for Android phones. I am fairly new to both Java and Android (but not new to programming in general, or threaded programming in particular). Sometimes my server and client will be in the same process, and sometimes they will be in different processes, depending on the exact use case. The client and server interfaces look something like the following: IServer.aidl: package com.my.application; interface IServer { /** * Register client callback object */ void registerCallback( in IClient callbackObject ); /** * Do something and report back */ void doSomething( in String what ); . . . } IClient.aidl: package com.my.application; oneway interface IClient { /** * Receive an answer */ void reportBack( in String answer ); . . . } Now here is where it gets interesting. I can foresee use cases where the client calls IServer.doSomething(), which in turn calls IClient.reportBack(), and on the basis of what is reported back, IClient.reportBack() needs to issue another call to IClient.doSomething(). The issue here is that IServer.doSomething() will not, in general, be reentrant. That's OK, as long as IClient.reportBack() is always invoked in a new thread. In that case, I can make sure that the implementation of IServer.doSomething() is always synchronized appropriately so that the call from the new thread blocks until the first call returns. If everything works the way I think it does, then by declaring the IClient interface as oneway, I guarantee this to be the case. At least, I can't think of any way that the call from IServer.doSomething() to IClient.reportBack() can return immediately (what oneway is supposed to ensure), yet IClient.reportBack still be able to reinvoke IServer.doSomething recursively in the same thread. Either a new thread in IServer must be started, or else the old IServer thread can be re-used for the inner call to IServer.doSomething(), but only after the outer call to IServer.doSomething() has returned. So my question is, does everything work the way I think it does? The Android documentation hardly mentions oneway interfaces.

Sockets server design advice

We are writing a socket server in c# and need some advice on the design. Background: Clients (from mobile devices) connect to our server app and we leave their socket open so we can send data back down to them whenever we need to. The amount of data varies but we generally send/receive data from each client every few seconds, so it's quite intensive. The amount of simultaneous connections can range from 50-500 (and more in the future). We have already written a server app using async sockets and it works, however we've come across some stumbling blocks and we need to make sure that what we're doing is correct. We have a collection which holds our client states (we have no socket/connection pool at the moment, should we?). Each time a client connects we create a socket and then wait for them to send us some data and in receiveCallBack we add their clientstate object to our connections dictionary (once we have verified who they are). When a client object then signs off we shutdown their socket and then close it as well as remove them from our collection of clients dictionary. Presumably everything happens in the right order, everything works as expected. However, almost everyday it stops accepting connections, or so we think, either that or it connects but doesn't actually do anything past that and we can't work out why it's just stopping. There are few things that we'r'e unsure about 1) Should we be creating some kind of connection pool as opposed to just a dictionary of client sockets 2) What happens to the sockets that connect but then don't get added to our dictionary, they just linger around in memory doing nothing, should we create ANOTHER dictionary that holds the sockets as soon as they are created? 3) What's the best way of finding if clients are no longer connected? We've read some many methods but we're not sure of the best one to use, send data or read data, if so how? 4) If we loop through the connections dictonary to check for disposed clients, should we be locking the dictionary, if so how does this affect other clients objects trying to use it at the same time, will it throw an error or just wait? 5) We often get disposedSocketException within ReceiveCallBack method at random times, does this mean we are safe to remove that socket from the collection? We can't seem to find any production type examples which show any of this working. Any advice would be greatly received

When is it worth using a BindingSource?

I think I understand well enough what the BindingSource class does - i.e. provide a layer of indirection between a data source and a UI control. It implements the IBindingList interface and therefore also provides support for sorting. And I've used it frequently enough, without too many problems. But I'm wondering if I use it more often than I should. Perhaps an example would help. Let's say I have just a simple textbox on a form (using WinForms), and I'd like to bind that textbox to a simple property inside a class that returns a string. Is it worth using a BindingSource in this situation? Now let's say I have a grid on my form, and I'd like to bind it to a DataTable. Should I use a BindingSource now? In the latter case, I probably would not use a BindingSource, as a DataTable, from what I can gather, provides the same functionality that the BindingSource itself would. The DataTable will fire the the right events when a row is added, deleted, etc so that the grid will automatically update. But in the first case with the textbox being bound to a string, I would probably have the class that contains the string property implement INotifyPropertyChanged, so that it could fire the PropertyChanged event when the string changes. I would use a BindingSource so that it could listen to these PropertyChanged events so that it could update the textbox automatically when the string changes. How does this sound so far? I still feel like there's a gap in my understanding that's preventing me from seeing the whole picture. This has been a pretty vague question so far, so I'll try to ask some more specific questions - ideally the answers will reference the above examples or something similar... (1) Is it worth using a BindingSource in either of the above examples? (2) It seems that developers just "assume" that the DataTable class will do the right thing, in firing PropertyChanged events at the right time. How does one know if a data source is capable of doing this? Is there a particular interface that a data source should implement in order for developers to be able to assume this behaviour? (3) Does it matter what Control is being bound to, when considering whether or not to use a BindingSource? Or is it only the data source that should affect the decision? Perhaps the answer is (and this would seem logical enough): the Control needs to be intelligent enough to listen to the PropertyChanged events, otherwise a BindingSource is required. So how does one tell if the Control is capable of doing this? Again, is there a particular interface that developers can look for that the Control must implement? It is this confusion that has, in the past, led to me always using a BindingSource. But I'd like to understand better exactly when to use one, so that I do so only when necessary.

Clone a DataBound Checked List Box

Hi I have a DataBound CheckedListBox, I "check" few items on list box(source), then I need to clone it to new Checked List Box(target). It need to have all the data, with checked state. I have tried with following function. It is properly flowing through this function. Google Chrome audit on caching

If I run an audit on my sites with Google Chrome, I get this message in the Leverage browser caching section: The following resources are missing a cache expiration. Resources that do not specify an expiration may not be cached by browsers: A list of all the pictures follows. I get a similar notice in Leverage proxy caching: Consider adding a "Cache-Control: public" header to the following resources: Apart from pictures, I also get a notice about HTML, CSS and JavaScript files: The following resources are explicitly non-cacheable. Consider making them cacheable if possible: Its funny because I've worked hard to cache all static contents (except for pictures, where I just left Apache's default settings). Firefox does indeed store all these items in cache. Is there anything I should improve in my HTTP headers? Here's the complete header set of some items as loaded after removing the browser caché. Pictures use default settings I didn't really check before, the rest should be cachéd for three hours. I can set headers with both .htaccess and PHP. When does the .NET FormAuthentication ticket get checked and how do I tap into this event?

Hello everyone - We are attempting to integrate an ASP.NET MVC site with our client's SSO system using PingFederate. I would like to use the built in FormsAuthentication framework to do this. The way I've gone about it so far is: Set up my Web.config so that my FormsAuthentication LoginURL goes to my site's "BeginAuthentication" action on a "Security" controller. From this action, I set up some session variables (what URL was being accessed, for example, since Ping won't send this info back to me), and then redirect to our client's login page on an external site (www.client.com/Login for example). From here, the authentication takes place and a cookie is generated on the same domain as the one that our application is running on which contains the unique identifier of the authenticated user, I've set it up so that once this happens, the Ping server will redirect to my "EndAuthentication" action on my "Security" controller. In this action, I call my membership class's "ValidateUser" method which takes this unique identifier from the cookie and loads in the user on our application that this ID refers to. I save that logged in user in our Session (Session["LoggedInAs"], for example) and expire the cookie that contains the id of the authenticated user that the SSO system provided for me. All of this works well. The issue I'm wondering about is what happens after our user has already authenticated and manually goes back to our client's login page (www.client.com/login) and logs in as another user. If they do that, then the flow from #2 above to number 3 happens as normal - but since there already exists an authenticated user on our site, it seems as though the FormsAuthentication system doesn't bother kicking off anything so I don't get a chance to check for the cookie I'm looking for to login as this new user. What I'd like to do is, somewhere in my Global.asax file (probably FormsAuthenticate_OnAuthenticate), check to see if the cookie that the SSO system sends to me exists, and if so, sign out of the application using FormsAuthentication.SignOut(). Another issue that seems to be related is that if I let my Session expire, the FormsAuthentication still seems to think I am authenticated and it lets me access a page even though no currently logged in user exists in my Session, so the page doesn't render correctly. Should I tap into the Session_End event and do FormsAuthentication.SignOut() here as well? Basically, I want to know when the authentication ticket created by System.Web.Security.FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(..) gets checked in the flow of a request so that I can determine whether I need to SignOut() and force revalidation or not. TcpListener is queuing connections faster than I can clear them

As I understand it, TcpListener will queue connections once you call Start(). Each time you call AcceptTcpClient (or BeginAcceptTcpClient), it will dequeue one item from the queue. If we load test our TcpListener app by sending 1,000 connections to it at once, the queue builds far faster than we can clear it, leading (eventually) to timeouts from the client because it didn't get a response because its connection was still in the queue. However, the server doesn't appear to be under much pressure, our app isn't consuming much CPU time and the other monitored resources on the machine aren't breaking a sweat. It feels like we're not running efficiently enough right now. We're calling BeginAcceptTcpListener and then immediately handing over to a ThreadPool thread to actually do the work, then calling BeginAcceptTcpClient again. The work involved doesn't seem to put any pressure on the machine, it's basically just a 3 second sleep followed by a dictionary lookup and then a 100 byte write to the TcpClient's stream. One idea we had was to call AcceptTcpClient and immediately Enqueue the TcpClient into one of multiple Queue<TcpClient> objects. That way, we could poll those queues on separate threads (one queue per thread), without running into monitors that might block the thread while waiting for other Dequeue operations. Each queue thread could then use ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem to have the work done in a ThreadPool thread and then move onto dequeuing the next TcpClient in its queue. Would you recommend this approach, or is our problem that we're using TcpListener and no amount of rapid dequeueing is going to fix that?

Java multithreaded server - each connection returns data. Processing on main thread?

I am writing a client with an integrated server that should wait indefinitely for new connections - and handle each on a Thread. I want to process the received byte array in a system wide available message handler on the main thread. However, currently the processing is obviously done on the client thread. I've looked at Futures, submit() of ExecutorService, but as I create my Client-Connections within the Server, the data would be returned to the Server thread. How can I return it from there onto the main thread (in a synchronized packet store maybe?) to process it without blocking the server? Naming selenium grid nodes. Spawning a specific node

I'm trying to implement a kind of default queues in selenium hub. There is a possibility to specify node's name (actually its environment, smth like "firefox on ubuntu" or "chrome on windows"). Selenium grid itself has a default queue, it works according to 'First In, First Out' principle. But I want to prioritize some of my tasks given to selenium server. I have no possibility to introduce custom queue (seems like there is no API for that), that's why I decided to separate queue's logic from selenium server. I'll only call a specific node with specific name (environment) for example "firefox important node" or smth like that. So, I want to know how to directly tell selenium which node to use for my task? And generally, am I thinking in a right way? Shortly put, it's a routine in a MP3 tagging application that takes a track title and an artist and queries Last.FM for the corresponding album, track no and genre. Simaltaneous connections with PHP and SOAP?

I'm new to using SOAP and understanding the utmost basics of it. I create a client resource/connection, I then run some queries in a loop and I'm done. The issue I am having is when I increase the iterations of the loop, ie: from 100 to 1000, it seems to run out of memory and drops an internal server error. How could I possibly run either a) multiple simaltaneous connections or b) create a connection, 100 iterations, close connection, create connection.. etc. "a)" looks to be the better option but I have no clue as to how to get it up and running whilst keeping memory (I assume opening and closing connections) at a minimum.
