  • Ruby in DOS CLI, How to do?

    I see in a lot of the tutorials and how to pages, they use the following, or something similar ruby C:\test.rb Which would parse test.rb to the interpreter and ... execute the script. But how is this done a on a windows? Ruby isn't a recognized internal command (as per the DOS output)? I know how to do all these things on Linux, and its as simple as... alas Windows is completely confusing at times :)

    And is there an elegant linqy way to do it? What I want to do is create string of given length with made of up multiples of another string up to that length So for length - 9 and input string "xxx" I get "xxxxxxxxx" (ie length 9) for a nun integral multiple then I'd like to truncate the line. I can do this using loops and a StringBuilder easily but I'm looking to see if the language can express this idea easily. (FYI I'm making easter maths homework for my son)

    The code below works as far as inserting records from a file into MySQL, but it only does so properly if the columns in the file are already ordered the same way as in the database. I would like for the user to be able to select the drop down the corresponds to each column in their file to match it up with the columns in the database (the database has email address, first name, last name). I am not sure how to accomplish this.     It seems that I have more trouble getting standard Unix things to run on Snow Leopard than any other platform--including Windows cygwin For the past couple of days, I've been trying to get ImageMagick to run on Snow Leopard. The error message shows it's looking in /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib. otools -L shows that this does implement 8.0.0: tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ otool -L /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version 8.0.0, current version 8.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.0) tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ And, for good measure, I set the DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to make sure this directory is the one for dynamic libraries. So even though I do have a library that provides 8.0.0, it's being seen as 7.0.0! Any ideas why this would happen? So here's my question: Is it possible to get ImageMagick to run on OSX Snow Leopard? Are there any binary distributions that have static libraries baked in so I don't have to worry about these issue/

  • Backslash escaping in RegularExpressionValidator

    I need to ensure that the input value contains at least one dot, so i use the following: <asp:RegularExpressionValidator runat="server" ControlToValidate="MyInput" Text="*" ErrorMessage="must contain at least one dot" ValidationExpression="\.+" /> And that doesn't work. By inspecting the page source i can see that ASP.NET escapes the backslash character so in java-script it looks like "\\.+". Why does it do so and how do i prevent RegularExpressionValidator from escaping it?

  • App dies on startup but not crash report

    I've given an ad hoc version of my app to some users. Two of them have the app die on start up while one user has no issues. I can also install the ad hoc without issue...but that is always the case for me. One user sent the info below from the Xcode Organizer Console. They didn't find any crash logs. I don't know what to make of the info below. The one thing that stands out is "Permission denied". I place the provisioning and myapp.app files in a dropbox folder. The user then retrieves the files from the same location. I've run codesign against the .app file in the dropbox and get valid output: codesign -vvvv myapp.app myapp.app: valid on disk myapp.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Any one have some ideas how I can figure out why the app doesn't work for this user?
