• Cannot connect to wifi after downloading 12.04, repeated prompts for password

  I have had this OS for a little bit but this is my first upgrade and my first issue I am trying to deal with without my buddy who got my on Ubuntu in the first place (who is on the other side of the country.) I am running an IBM Lenovo T400 Thinkpad that had 11.10 on it and worked flawless. I upgraded to 12.04 a few weeks back and I have not been able to connect to the wifi in my home or anywhere for that matter. I have been trying to mess with it through reading the forums and am not quite sure what my problem is. I am running off of Fios Internet and the wifi keep disconnecting and prompts me to retype the password for reconnecting. If you guys could give me a step by step process of how I should go about fixing this I would GREATLY appreciate it!

• Cannot find other computers on the network

  I have several issues trying to connect to my network. This is not the problem connecting to the Internet through the same router. All my computers are running Windows 7, Vista and XP Pro. I can't see them and they can't see me either. I've already install Ubuntu Studio 11.10 three times and still not showing the network icon at all. I'm new to UBUNTU and LINUX in general. I can't find my group name either.

• Is it possible to configure Ubuntu as a software firewall?

  I have some systems running on Ubuntu in the private IP range 192.168.2.0-255 . These systems are connected to a switch and the switch is connected to the ISP's modem. Neither the switch nor the modem support firewall options. I don't have any firewall device and I'm not willing to individually configure firewalls on all the systems (via gui/iptables). Is it possible to make an Ubuntu system into something like a software firewall, so that all the traffic/packets sent to or from the WAN(internet) would be allowed/denied based on its firewall rules?

• More complex learning source for C# .NET [closed]

  By complex I don't mean more difficult but including a larger area of possibilities cover. I've started a few years ago with PHP and the transition from learning the syntax of the language and the basic logical structures to working with databases, including JavaScript and so on was very short. And now I'm more interested in studying working with languages like Java/C#. Recently I spend a lot of time reading and writing some simple console applications, I've read almost 2K pages for C# programming and still don't know how to connect to database for example. Just for info I'm interested in web development, socket programing and live streaming, don't know if I'm exceeding myself too much writing that but despite that I want to find some books/internet sources where I can extend my current knowledge of C#/.NET, start using database queries, maybe try something more complicated webwise.

• Both bluetooth and wifi not connecting

  I'm having problems both with bluetooth and wifi, my pc is a Lenovo B5400. The BT can do a scan, but it isn't able to find any devices; I don't see any wifi network (but I have a working Ethernet connection). I read many topics on the internet but before trying different solutions and make some changes (I just installed Ubuntu 14.04) I would firstly try to understand what could the problem depend on. • Is it a good idea for exams to be done on a computer?

  In some colleges students are let to use an IDE and Internet and in mine you have to write down your solution in paper. As far as I know, it's pretty much impossible to make a correct non-trivial program on the first try. I'd be fine with no using computers if my teachers assessed my approach instead my code -literally-... that's not the case unfortunately. Which ones are more usual, 'written' or 'coded' exams? • How to install Syngen?

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. I found out that there is a near-obsolete program based on the obsolete Caml Special Light by someone at INRIA ( ftp.inria.fr, directory lang/caml-light ). The program is called Syngen. I need it to create Syntax diagrams. But i am not able to run the binaries that come with it, and i'm not able to compile the source because it needs a compiler called cmlc. Somebody help, i find REALLY less documentation about this in internet.

• Font broken in many sites [on hold]

  Im Not sure about if i can post this on here but, im having problems with my font on many websites including Stackoverflow. I am using Google chrome and it is all over my web browsers, i tried reseting my google chromes settings then re-installing my browser in the end I haven't found a single solution towards the subject, hence why i am asking for help. (I have also tried deleting the custom font, and changing my internet options. I have some proof on the subject 1 is what it is currently 2 is what it should be.

  I upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10, and a number of things stopped working. Most importantly, I don't have internet access anymore. When I go to the network settings, I receive the following error: The system network services are not compatible with this version. The only settings that show up in the network settings are the proxy settings. I tried sudo service network-manager start and sudo service network-manager restart, but it told me the service was already running. In addition, the menu bar is missing all of the indicators (such as keyboard layout, sound, network, clock, and the gear icon). Is this related or a separate issue?

  I checked System Monitor to see if the frequency of my CPU increases without doing anything and saw that xorg is always using 10-40% of the CPU even if it's not doing much of anything on the desktop or simply surfing the Internet. • How can I build this payment receipt/booking application?

  I'm planning to build a payment receipt/booking application for a media company with several branches in different locations. The application should be able to move data across the network/internet to a central database where the administrator/accountant in a different location will be able to see the result of the entire job for the day from each branch. Application will run on windows environment. Will be able to send result of the booking to a Point Of Sales printer for print output. Now, I'm confused about choosing the right programming language to accomplish this task. I'm between beginner/intermediate level in PHP, I know HTML/CSS and JavaScript. I have tried to do this in PHP but, I'm face with several challenges and I fear for the POS part since PHP application run on the web browser. I don't know if python will be best suited for this and how long will it take someone with my experience level to pick up python. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

  I need to know how to set up a local webDav server on my PC so that goodreader on ipad can automatically sync with it over the local wifi network? I am really a rookie when it comes to setting up a web server and have tried various guides on the internet. I tried setting up a webdav server using IIS and forwarded the required ports and enabled webdav publishing but goodreader can find it in the local wifi network automatically nor is it able to connect even after manually entering the credendtials.   I am trying to build a minimal vmware image to use for private browsing (also called a browser appliance). I have tried using images for other small linux distros, most of them are either too heavy (I do not want any other functionality than browsing and downloading) or outdated (DSL, various browser appliance images at vmware official site). I have downloaded the minimal Ubuntu install image (12MB) and was hoping to select only the needed pakcages while installing but it was not asking for my choices anywhere. • Periodic script execution

  I made a script that sends my local sensors temperature to a server in the internet and then I can see a graph of it. Everything works fine when I execute it manully. I have the latest ubuntu version. When it comes to run periodically every minute with crontab then nothing works. It doesnt send anything. I tried to run it as SUDO and as user, I tried to add it in the crontab file to run it from several locations like /bin/myscript.sh , /user/Desktop and many others...Nothing seems to work. • Getting Started with 12.04 LTS Problems

  Okay previously I used ubuntu 10.04 in Desktops and Loved it! I bought a newer Toshiba Satellite with an i7 CPU, 8GB Ram, 1TB HD, first thing I tried to do was install Ubuntu 9 on it then I found out it was no longer Supported. (I gave my 10.04 disk away) So I tried installing Windows 7 and experienced SO MANY problems, I am going back to try 12.04. Starting all over again. After installing 12.04 Wireless was Detected yet said it was Disabled by a Hardware Switch. Went read through the Message Boards found Solution which was Sudo rf Kill All. Okay all excited I would finally get my Ubuntu to finally work I rushed back to my laptop from the internet cafe, and went looking for the TERMINAL input on my Ubuntu 12.04, and I cannot find the Terminal. If I can't find the TERMINAL how Can I enter any Sudo Stuff? So I guess the first question is Where is the Terminal Located in 12.04? Thank you.

  I have a problem with the funnels in Google Analytics. So I have a e-commerce website that I want to track the user path to a purchase. I want GA to track if a user goes trough these steps [Item page]-[Purchase]-[Checkout]. I thought this could be done by funnels and my setup currently now consist of: Step 1: [Item page] (Required) Step 2: [Purchase] Goal: [Checkout] But when I go to the "Funnel Visualization Report" the following shows. [Item page] Visits: 150 [Purchase page] Visits: 170 [Checkout] Visits: 32 How can the [Purchase page] be higher than the [Item page]? I searched the internet over, and found something called Horizontal Funnels but this doesn't show the correct numbers, again the purchase and checkout steps are higher than the item page. So somehow it doesn't need step 1, to fulfill the funnels/goals. What am I doing wrong?
