  I use primefaces push to write a message in a p:notificationBar. if i push a message with specials characters (like russians char), I've got '?' in my message. How can I fix this problem ? • How do I apply a "template" or "skeleton" of code in C# here?

  In my business layer, I need many, many methods that follow the pattern: public BusinessClass PropertyName { get { if (this.m_LocallyCachedValue == null) { if (this.Record == null) { this.m_LocallyCachedValue = new BusinessClass( this.Database, this.PropertyId); } else { this.m_LocallyCachedValue = new BusinessClass( this.Database, this.Record.ForeignKeyName); } } return this.m_LocallyCachedValue; } } I am still learning C#, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to write this pattern once and add methods to each business layer class that follow this pattern with the proper types and variable names substituted. BusinessClass is a typename that must be substituted, and PropertyName, PropertyId, ForeignKeyName, and m_LocallyCachedValue are all variables that should be substituted for. Are attributes usable here? Do I need reflection? How do I write the skeleton I provided in one place and then just write a line or two containing the substitution parameters and get the pattern to propagate itself? EDIT: Modified my misleading title -- I am hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve code generation or copy/paste techniques, and rather to be able to write the skeleton of the code once in a base class in some form and have it be "instantiated" into lots of subclasses as the accessor for various properties. • can't increment Glib::ustring::iterator (getting "invalid lvalue in increment" compiler error)

  in the following code: int utf8len(char* s, int len) { Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); Glib::ustring::iterator e ( string::iterator(s+len) ); int i=0; for (; p != e; p++) // ERROR HERE! i++; return i; } I get the compiler error on the for line, which is sometimes "invalid lvalue in increment", and sometimes "ISO C++ forbids incrementing a pointer of type etc... ". Yet, the follwing code: int utf8len(char* s) { Glib::ustring us(s); int i=0; for (Glib::ustring::iterator p = us.begin(); p != us.end(); p++) i++; return i; } compiles and works fine. according the Glib::ustring documentation and the include file, ustring iterator can be constructed from std::string iterator, and has operator++() defined. Weird? BONUS QUESTION :) Is there a difference in C++ between the 2 ways of defining a variable: classname ob1( initval ); classname ob1 = initval; I believed that they are synonymous; yet, if I change Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); to Glib::ustring::iterator p = string::iterator(s); I get a compiler error (gcc 4.1.2) conversion from ‘__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ to non-scalar type ‘Glib::ustring_Iterator<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ requesed thanks a lot!

  I was wondering if there was a more efficient (efficient as in simpler/cleaner code) way of making a case statement like the one below... I have a dictionary. Its key type is an Enum and its value type is a bool. If the boolean is true, I want to change the color of a label on a form. The variable names were changed for the example. Dictionary<String, CustomType> testDict = new Dictionary<String, CustomType>(); //populate testDict here... Dictionary<MyEnum, bool> enumInfo = testDict[someString].GetEnumInfo(); //GetEnumInfo is a function that iterates through a Dictionary<String, CustomType> //and returns a Dictionary<MyEnum, bool> foreach (KeyValuePair<MyEnum, bool> kvp in enumInfo) { switch (kvp.Key) { case MyEnum.Enum1: if (someDictionary[kvp.Key] == true) { Label1.ForeColor = Color.LimeGreen; } else { Label1.ForeColor = Color.Red; } break; case MyEnum.Enum2: if (someDictionary[kvp.Key] == true) { Label2.ForeColor = Color.LimeGreen; } else { Label2.ForeColor = Color.Red; } break; } } So far, MyEnum has 8 different values.. which means I have 8 different case statements.. • How do I populate these fields from existing data?

  I'm not sure how to make a few parts of my form to populate from data from an array I'm passing from the database. First is this <select> object. The key estimate_lead_id in the database holds the value, and I want the dropdown to auto-select based on the value from the database. <select name="estimate_lead_id"> <? foreach($leads->result() as $lead) { ?> <option value="<?=$lead->id?>"><?=$lead->lead_name?></option> <? } ?> </select> Second (this is a little more complex), I have created a script that loops through and gets all of the items from each respective category. • jQuery UI Dialog and Textarea Focus Issue

  I'm working on a modal comment system using jQuery and jQuery UI, but I'm having some issues with focus. I have a series of divs inside the modal to switch between Login and Add comment, as below: <div id="modal" title="Loading"> <div id="modalContent"></div> <div id="modalLogin"> <div class="loginBox"></div> <div class="addCommentBox"></div> <div class="commentReview"></div> </div> </div> Inside of the addCommentBox div, I've got the comment code: <form action="/comments/add" class="addCommentForm" name="addCommentForm" method="post"> <textarea name="content" class="addCommentContent"></textarea> <button value="Add Comment" type="submit" class="commentPost"/> <button value="Clear Comment" type="submit" id="clearComment"/> </form> The issue is that about half the time after opening the dialog the textarea inside the addCommentBox div doesn't react to keyboard inputs when selected. The mouse works correctly and will allow text to be selected, but keyboard control does nothing. I have no event listeners on the textarea. I've got some on the buttons, but they are targeting only the buttons. The only thing that happens in the HTML seems to be the fact that every time I click on the modal, the z-index increases for the overall modal div. I have set the addCommentBox div to have a z-index of 9999, greater than the z-index of the modal. Any suggestions or directions to research would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• What are the best workarounds for known problems with Hibernate's schema validation of floating poin

  I have several Java classes with double fields that I am persisting via Hibernate. For example, I have @Entity public class Node ... private double value; When Hibernate's org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect creates the DDL for the Node table, it maps the value field to a "double precision" type. create table MDB.Node (... value double precision not null, ... It would appear that in Oracle, "double precision" is an alias for "float". So, when I try to verify the database schema using the org.hibernate.cfg.AnnotationConfiguration.validateSchema() method, Oracle appears to describe the value column as a "float". This causes Hibernate to throw the following Exception org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in DBO.ACL_RULE for column value. Found: float, expected: double precision A very similar problem is listed in Hibernate's JIRA database as HHH-1961 (http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-1961). I'd like to avoid doing anything that will break MySql, Postgres, and Sql Server support so extending the Oracle10gDialect appears to be the most promising of the workarounds mentioned in HHH-1961. But extending a Dialect is something I've never done before and I'm afraid there may be some nasty gotchas. What is the best workaround for this problem that won't break our compatibility with MySql, Postgres, and Sql Server? Thanks for taking the time to look at this!

• Creating a form dynamically

  Hi, I use a search button that creates a form dynamically at the server side and returns it with Jquery syntax. After I fill-up the form and click on submit button, there is another .submit() Jquery function that suppose to be called to validate input before data is sent to the server. But, for some reason, this function is never called, and the data is request is sent. In more details: This is the form that the serach button creates dynamically at the server side and "prints" to html page with Jquery: <form action=... name="stockbuyform" class="stockbuyform" method="post"> <input type=text value="Insert purchasing amount"> <input type="submit" value="Click to purchase"> </form> And here is the .submit() function : $(".stockbuyform").submit(function() { alert("Need to validate purchasing details"); } But whaen I click on purchase button, the .submit() function is never called. Does it mean that I can't use another Jquery call with the answer I got in the first call?

• Google Maps API v3 - Different markers/labels on different zoom levels

  I was wondering if it is possible that Google has a feature to view different markers on different zoom levels. For example, on zoom level 1, I want one marker over China with the label saying "5". And as the user zooms in, lets say on zoom level 4, I want the previous marker and label to disappear. And I want to have 5 new markers/labels, each on a different city in China all saying "1". Thus China will say a number and all the cities in China will say numbers adding up to China's number. The key concept I am trying to figure out here is how to hide markers and labels based on zoom levels. A constraint for me is that I am living in China currently where google is censored, so a lot of online documents are censored for me, including many of google's documentations.
