• Clearquest Database Timeout

  I have a tool that is setup to query our Clearquest Database to return information to the user automatically every 9000 milliseconds. I came in today and the connection had timed out over the weekend, I found in the oSession object a "check heartbeat" function, but I'm not sure that is what I want to use to determine if i need to "re-login", I saw a db.timeoutinterval, but I can't seem to find any good reference on how to call it, since the oSession Object doesn't actually call it, and any references in the API guide mention it with regard to actually creating the db using the adminsession object. What "object" do I need to create to access the timeout interval and how? Thank you for the help! Or is it better to use the "check heartbeat function" and will it return a true or false depending on current state of login?

• Scala n00b: Critique my code

  G'day everyone, I'm a Scala n00b (but am experienced with other languages) and am learning the language as I find time - very much enjoying it so far! Usually when learning a new language the first thing I do is implement Conway's Game of Life, since it's just complex enough to give a good sense of the language, but small enough in scope to be able to whip up in a couple of hours (most of which is spent wrestling with syntax). Anyhoo, having gone through this exercise with Scala I was hoping the Scala gurus out there might take a look at the code I've ended up with and provide feedback on it. I'm after anything - algorithmic improvements (particularly concurrent solutions!), stylistic improvements, alternative APIs or language constructs, disgust at the length of my function names - whatever feedback you've got, I'm keen to hear it!   I want to make my system redirect unknown requests such as www.address.com/a_company to the adress www.address.com/companies/company/ and display the company a_company if it exists in the database, otherwise throw the user to a 404 not found page. So in detail, I want to make namespace that is as the first example dynamically, if the company exist in the database, I have no problem connecting to the database and retrieving information or finding a way to parse a company name, I just need help how to make my system check and run a function every time the address doesn't exist and show the second page (/companies/company/).. I am using an Acl as well, but I think it should be fine if the page is /companies/company and then possibly add /?c=a_company or similar. Thank you. /Marcus

  I'm trying create a RCP Application with Eclipse, but I can't get past the 'Content' screen of the New Plug-in Project Wizard. When I select 'yes' for "Rich Client Application, Would you like to create a rich client application" it disables the Next and the Finish Button. I first thought it is due to my target platform which is Eclipse 3.2, but changing that doesn't make a difference. On the top of the screen only one task is displayed (now warnings about missing or incompatible information): Enter the data required to generate the plug-in My Eclipse Version is 3.5 Any ideas?   Hi, I've set up a project with an SDF local database file and am trying to access it using an LINQ To SQL (".dbml") file. I have used the connection string provided by the sdf file and can instanciate the object with out a problem: thisDataContext = new MyDataContext(GetConnectionString()); However, whenever i try to access any information from it eg var collection = (from MyObject p in thisDataContext.MyTable select p); I get the error - "The table name is not valid. [ Token line number (if known) = 2,Token line offset (if known) = 14,Table name = Person ]" I am using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 .Net 3.5 and SQL 2008 CE. I gather something similar happened for SQL 2005 CE and a Hotfix was released, but i would have thought the fix would have been fixed in this version before release. Does anyone know the fix for this? Thanks

  What is the best way to convert various audio formats to PCM? For example: mp3, evrc, ogg vox. Is there a library out there that will allow me to implement this relatively easily? EDIT: I guess my initial question wasn't really what I needed. Most of the libs I have found are file converters. What I need is a block converter, where I pass in a 1Kb block of vox data and it returns its converted PCM block. Of course I’ll have to tell the converter what type of data it is and various pieces of codec information. The solution I am going for is to save and VOIP formats into a common wav format and to play that conformed file in real time. I thought there should be an easy way to do this because all audio is eventually turned into PCM before it is outputted anyways.

  From MSDN (link): The type PrintDocumentImageableArea has no public constructor. Hence, the variable documentImageableArea must be declared and assigned to Nothing and only then passed to the method. This method displays a PrintDialog requiring input from the user. After the user has selected a printer, paper size, and orientation and closed the dialog, documentImageableArea points to an actual object and its properties are initialized. I have my custom print dialog and need to get the PrintDocumentImageableArea of a given PrintQueue and PrintTicket! (I need the margin's I need to apply) From what I can gather it is quite common for anything but the most basic applications to use their own custom print dialog.   Is it possible to access Desktop Composition Engine in Windows Vista from a winforms application? The DCE apparently involves applications rendering to DCE buffers instead of directly to the screen. Since a winforms app has no way of getting information about the monitor's refresh rate and scanline status (other than via DirectX), animation in a winforms app is subject to tearing effects. With DCE enabled, the tearing effects are lessened but still there (apparently the DCE can still grab a buffer that your app is halfway through writing to and render it to the screen, thereby producing the half-one-frame-half-of-the-next tearing effects). Is there any way for my winforms app to communicate with the DCE and possible avoid rendering during buffer switchover times?

• What are the use cases for closures/callback functions in Javascript?

  I was listening to Crockford's talk on Javascript closures and am convinced of the benefit of information hiding, but I do not have a firm understanding of when to use callback functions. It is mostly a true statement that a person could accomplish the same functionality with or without callbacks. As someone who is writing code, what heuristics or cues should I keep in mind when determining when to use callbacks/closures? I am not looking for the blanket statement 'Closures make more secure code', rather a list of practical examples or rules of thumb for when callbacks are the right idea. • Cost of using ASP.NET

  One thing that I keep hearing in reference to ASP.NET and MSFT technologies is that they cost money to use. Often when they are being compared to open source languages someone will mention that one factor in favor of open source is that it's free (to an extent). My question is, when does ASP.NET actually cost money to use in terms of using the proprietary technology? Understandably there are the hosting fees, but I'm curious about the fees outside of these hosting fees. I'm especially curious about this as it relates one-person smaller-site development (non-team/large enterprise). Any help is appreciated. (edits) Some excellent answers. Much appreciated The projects that I'm looking to use the technologies for would be personal sites and very small business sites (1 or 2). The intent would of course be that these projects get much bigger. It seems that for commercial production, fees will apply. What about just basic dynamic "shared hosting" sites that provide information?

  Hello, When you issue the command ls in Linux you get this sort of thing: drwxr--r-- 1 fred editors 4096 drafts -rw-r--r-- 1 fred editors 30405 file1.php -r-xr-xr-x 1 fred fred 8460 file2.php I know that the rwxrwxrwx are the read, write and execute permissions for the current user. And I think I know that 'fred' is the user who owns the file. So I assume fred can write to file1 but no one else can. But what is the extra bit 'editors' and what is the difference between file1 and file2 with respect to one having an ownership of 'fred editors' and the other 'fred fred'? Also if a web user connects to one of the files, what is their user name and where is this decided? If the server decided that user connecting from the web was going to be fred, does this mean any web user could write to file1? Any information welcomed, I am resaerching this but just getting confused. Thanks

  Hello Folks, I am facing a problem while creating a dynamic website. I am building it for some pharma company, which have many products. The problem is, every product have different sections of description, and have to be formatted differently. I wanted to store all the product descriptions in the database, but at the same time preserve the formatting of each description. I also plan to provide an admin interface, where they could edit the product information themselves. I could use Joomla or any other CMS for that purpose, but i wanted to know if i want to build such a system of my own, where i could format the text in an editor and them save that thing into database and when i retrieve it, i get the same formatting. How could i do this? Also i wanted to do this in PHP. Thanks -- Mohit

• Best practice for submits redirecting to another page in MVC2?

  I have a situation with my MVC2 app where I have multiple pages that need to submit different information, but all need to end up at the same page. In my old Web Forms app, I'd have just accomplished this in my btnSave_Click delegate with a Redirect. There are three different types of products, each of which need to be saved to the cart in a completely different manner from their completely different product pages. I'm not going to get into why or how they're different, just suffice to say, they're totally different. After they're saved to the cart, I need to "redirect" to the Checkout view. But it should be noted, that you can also just browse straight to the Checkout view without having to submit any products to add to the cart. Here's a diagram of what I'm trying to accomplish, and how I think I need to handle it: Is this correct? It seems like a common scenario, but I haven't seen any examples of how I should handle this.   Hi everyone, i'm trying to realize non-editable QTableView with widgets in cells that should contain clickable listed text. With following code i'm setting widget in definite cell: view = QTableView() label = QLabel( <some html text> ) ... view.setIndexWidget(index, label) I used html to make label's text clickable, but links became blue with underline and moreover by clicking on it with right mouse button appears popup menu with "Copy Link Locaion" option, where i wanted to place some hidden information instead of url and of course do not let user see this info. I'm looking for light-weight widget, i thought that insertion of QGraphicsView in each cell will lead to big computer loads, but can't think of any other solution. Can you advice what should i use for this purpose? Thank you in advance Serge

  We have set up a BDC Profile Import for Sharepoint 2007 and it works well for 99% of the users. A handful fails with the "Exception occured when calling into BIL connector for import from non master data source" message in the crawl log, though The ULS logs reveal the following information: Exception Profile Import: Exception occured when importing user: '[redacted]\[redacted]'. Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.PropertyInvalidValueException: Invalid Property Value: Could not find SID corresponding to input account name I have confirmed that the user has a sharepoint profile matching the username is a valid domain user exists in AD Can anyone help med troubleshoot this?

• checkins/recent not returning comments or even counts of comments

  My application has been using the checkins/recent endpoint to show where all the current users friends are currently at and I had included a button the user could press to comment on a checkin. The button used to have the comment count on it until recently. It seems the checkins/recent endpoint no longer returns comments or even a comment count for those checkins. I would have to query each checkin in order to get the comment count which adds to the data usage not to mention API usage counts. Is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing? Could you please at least put the comment count back? You have the photo information, why not comments? Thanks

I done AGI doing this but I need now run this from another server, windows server, but I dont know how can I do this.
