  I have the following class: public class UserGroup { public string GroupName { get; set; } public bool IsIntheGroup{ get; set; } } I want to bind an ObservableCollection of UserGroup items to listbox containing checkbox’s for each item in the collection and the checkbox is cheked based on the IsIntheGroup property of the UserGroup. In my ViewModel I made an ObservableCollection of the UserGroup class: public ObservableCollection Groups { get; set; } and loaded its contents (instances of UserGroup) from my database model I used the following code in my view: ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Groups, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" ListBox.ItemTemplate DataTemplate StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding IsIntheGroup, Mode=TwoWay}"/ TextBlock Text="{Binding GroupName}" / /StackPanel /DataTemplate /ListBox.ItemTemplate /ListBox The problem is I am not notified when the user checks/unchecks a check box in the list so my two way binding failed… How do I do a two way binding in such a case?

• Convert object to DateRange

  I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis. • IIS7 Overrides customErrors when setting Response.StatusCode?

  Having a weird problem here. Everybody knows that if you use web.config's customErrors section to make a custom error page, that you should set your Response.StatusCode to whatever is appropriate. For example, if I make a custom 404 page and name it 404.aspx, I could put <% Response.StatusCode = 404 % in the contents in order to make it have a true 404 status header. Follow me so far? Good. Now try to do this on IIS7. I cannot get it to work, period. If Response.StatusCode is set in the custom error page, IIS7 seems to override the custom error page completely, and shows it's own status page (if you have one configured.) Has anyone else seen this behavior and also maybe know how to work around it? It was working under IIS6, so I don't know why things changed. • Can jQuery UI's Sortable handle complex selectors for the items option?

  I have list items in an unordered list that when double clicked, can be edited in place via a wysiwyg editor. $('ul.mtm_section').sortable({ disabled: true, distance: 10, items: '> li:not(:has(form))' }); My goal is to prevent the list item from being sorted while it is being edited - aka once a form element has been swapped in place of the contents. Unfortunately my selector for items is not working. Is sortable able to handle complex selectors like these? If not, are there other clever means to disable some items from being sortable, perhaps a callback function? I would prefer to rely on this sortable option, as the wysiwyg plugin is deeply nested with jEditable and as far as I know does not open up any events for me to hook into. Using jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1

• Catch and Show an error from a WCF service call in javascript.

  Hello, I'm calling a WCF service through javascript and right now it's not showing any errors that might occur on the service side to the user. I have the code below and am looking for a better way to inform the user an error has occured, including the call stack and error message if possible. The service itself throws a FaultException if an error has occured. However, I want to catch that error in the javascript call and show it to the user.   So the user may search for "10 mbit" after which I want to capture the "10" so I can use it in a speed-search rather than a string-search. This isn't a problem, the below regexp does this fine: if (preg_match("/(\d+)\smbit/", $string)){ ... } But, the user may search for something like "10/10 mbit" or "10-100 mbit". I don't want to match those with the above regexp - they should be handled in another fashion. So I would like a regexp that matches "10 mbit" if the number is all-numeric as a whole word (i.e. contained by whitespace, newline or lineend/linestart) Using lookbehind, I did this: if (preg_match("#(?<!/)(\d+)\s+mbit#i", $string)){ Just to catch those that doesn't have "/" before them, but this matched true for this string: "10/10 mbit" so I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but what?

• Tying PyQt4 QAction triggered() to local class callable doesn't seem to work. How to debug this?

QtCore.QObject.connect() returns True. Nothing is printed on the console to indicate that anything is wrong, and no exception is thrown. How can I debug this? (or, what am I doing wrong?)

• Remove items from SWT tables

  This is more of an answer I'd like to share for the problem I was chasing for some time in RCP application using large SWT tables. The problem is the performance of SWT Table.remove(int start, int end) method. It gives really bad performance - about 50msec per 100 items on my Windows XP. But the real show stopper was on Vista and Windows 7, where deleting 100 items would take up to 5 seconds! Looking into the source code of the Table shows that there are huge amount of windowing events flying around in this call.. That brings the windowing system to its knees. The solution was to hide the damn thing during this call: table.setVisible(false); table.remove(from, to); table.setVisible(true); That does wonders - deleting 500 items on both XP & Windows7 takes ~15msec, which is just an overhead for printing out time stamps I used. nice :)

  I've got a problem when using Shoes. I'm basically trying to open an excel document and pass the names of the worksheets to a list_box. The following method is called on a button press after selecting a file. What am I doing wrong?

• Strange error: cannot convert from 'int' to 'ios_base::openmode'

  I am using g++ to compile some code. Error 1: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘std::_Ios_Openmode’ Error 2: initializing argument 2 of ‘std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits* std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits::open(const char*, std::_Ios_Openmode) [with _CharT = char, _Traits = std::char_traits]’ As far as I could tell from a Google search, g++ is actually breaking the C++ standard here. Which I find quite astonishing, since they generally conform very strictly to the standard. Is this the case? Or am I doing something wrong.   At the top of my tex document, I set my sourcecode listing format by \lstset{language=java} \lstset{numbers=left, numberstyle=\tiny, numbersep=5pt, breaklines=true} \lstset{emph={square}, emphstyle=\color{red}, emph={[2]root,base}, emphstyle={[2]\color{blue}}} because I merely list Java source code. At one point in my document, I had to reformat for a single listing by \lstset{commentstyle=\footnotesize\textit} \lstset{basicstyle=\ttfamily\fontsize{11}{12}\selectfont} \lstset{literate= {!=} {$\neq$}{2}} Now I have the problem that my previous Java formatting for listings is destroyed, and I dont know how to reset the lst settings to default. How can this be avoided?

• How useful is a 'pure' MVC implementation?

  I work at a company that provides custom made 'CRM'-like software. We are currently redesigning/redeveloping the software with the hopes that it will look more modern and be easier to develop and customize for future clients. Currently it takes a long time to customize each new application. There is a presumption that the reason it takes so long is because of the amount of business logic that is present in the 'view' layer. To some extent I can vouch for this being true, but symptoms don't always reliably point out a cause. There was a suggestion that if we just move the business logic to the controller layer and use pure view (we use java J2EE and struts) as in implementing struts tags instead of calling the bean layer and iterating objects right on the jsp - etc etc. Before I start advocating we go forward with this, I wanted to get a feeling for what other people thought. Does a "pure" implementation of the MVC (especially emphasis on decoupling the controller and the view) provide a cleaner, easier to develop and change code base?

• BindableAttribute, Combobox, Selectedvalue property - WinForms

  I am deriving from combobox (WinForms) and am providing a new implementation for the Selectedvalue property. It works fine as is, but any change to the selectedvalue property is not updating other controls bound to the same "binding context" to change their values accordingly. I did try adding the BindableAttribute(true) to the property, but still it does nottrigger the change in value to the other linked controls. The control's DataBindings.add(...) is all set up. And other controls are also bound to the same data filed on the same datasource. Any ideas what i am doing wrong.

• [C++] Wrong EOF when unzipping binary file

  Hello there, I tried to unzip a binary file to a membuf from a zip archive using Lucian Wischik's Zip Utils: http://www.wischik.com/lu/programmer/zip_utils.html http://www.codeproject.com/KB/files/zip_utils.aspx FindZipItem(hz, filename.c_str(), true, &j, &ze); char *content = new char[ze.unc_size]; UnzipItem(hz, j, content, ze.unc_size); delete[] content; But it didn't unzip the file correctly. It stopped at the first 0x00 of the file. For example when I unzip an MP3 file, it will only unzip the first 4 bytes: 0x49443303 (ID3\0) because the 5th to 8th byte is 0x00000000. I also tried to capture the ZR_RESULT, and it always return ZR_OK (which means completed without errors). The row's primary key HAS to be unique, because it's the only row in the table. Therefore, the only thing I can think of is my CHECK conditions aren't true. • Can't append to array using string field name [$] when performing update on array fields

  rowsI am attempting to perform a mongodb update on each field in an array of records. An example schema is below: { "_id" : ObjectId("508710f16dc636ec07000022"), "summary" : "", "uid" : "ABCDEF", "username" : "bigcheese", "name" : "Name of this document", "status_id" : 0, "rows" : [ { "score" : 12, "status_id" : 0, "uid" : 1 }, { "score" : 51, "status_id" : 0, "uid" : 2 } ] } So far I have been able to perform single updates like this: db.mycollection.update({"uid":"ABCDEF","rows.uid":1}, {$set:{"rows.$.status_id":1}},false,false) However, I am struggling as to how to perform an update that will update all array records to a status_id of 1 (for instance). Below is how I imagine it should work: db.mycollection.update({"uid":"ABCDEF"}, {$set:{"rows.$.status_id":1}},false,true) However I get the error: can't append to array using string field name [$] I have tried for quite a while with no luck. Any pointers?
