  • Office Interop addins installer?

    I have three C# Solutions in Visual Stuido 2008, one each for Word, Excel and PowerPoint using interop to hook various events. In each Solution, I have exactly one class, the one created by default when using File - New - Project - Visual C# - Office - 2007. Now that I have my addins working properly, it's time to create an installer. I understand that I may also have to distribute the PIAs. I would like my installer to register itself such that it can be uninstalled via the normal Add/Remove Programs mechanism. My organization is somewhat standardized around WiX for creating installers, but I'm open to any suggestions. How do I produce an MSI or EXE capable of installing my addins? GUI/wizard for the installer is not necessary. I'm happy to RTFM - so far all the tutorials I've found only explain how to create the project and do some of the coding. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

    Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration.   • Memory leak with WPF & ItemsControl (VB.NET)

    I have an ItemsControl that uses a DataTemplate to display properties in my customClass that implements INotifyPropertyChanged... Pretty straightforward... Some items in the DataTemplate use CommandBindings (such as buttons), and a few have some code-behind (yuck). When I empty the ItemsControl and set all instances of customClass = Nothing , no memory is released from my program. This becomes a problem pretty quickly! Any idea where I should start looking? I've even gone so far as to completely traverse the visual tree of each DataTemplate instance and set each Visual = Nothing. I'm not really if that's supposed to have any effect though.

  • Wireless barcode scanner

    Hi All, I have 2 wireless barcode scanners. I have created an application in C# which reads a barcode and sends data to a web service which then manipulates the data and do further processing. When I start aplication, it first tries to connect to web service and will proceed further only if connection succeded. The problem I am facing is, if I deploy the application through visual studio then it works fine and connects to web service. But if I just copy the contents (exe and config files) manually, then it gives error that unknown host name. Can someone please help me to understand how this connection works? Does it needs some special settings in scanner device which visual studio does automatically while deployment? Thanks and Cheers.

  • Extract a C/C++ header file from a C# class exposed to COM

    I'm not sure I've setup everything I've needed to in my C# class to properly, but it does work in COM. I've been looking for an example of a C# class that was successfully used in a C/C++ project, but haven't come across anything. I've tried using the OLE/COM Object View app to open the .tlb file and save as .h, but it gives some errors: MIDL1009: unknown argument ignored; MIDL1001: cannot open input file Studio "Studio" isn't the name of the file, it's Syslog, so that raises a red flag to me. Any ideas?

    I have a website (not a web application- in visual studio you get two options-create a website/project) running on IIS 6.0. Now I want to develop few features in MVC architecture. So I created one MVC application in visual studio and everything is working fine on localhost as a separate application. Now I want to host this MVC app also inside the website I have already deployed. I created a virtual directory(MVCDir) inside the default website in IIS 6.0.   • Using Windows header files within Netbeans 6.8

    I'm trying to make an windows application within Netbeans. When using Visual studio it is no problem to use files like tchar.h I have receaved a basic file structure containing those and I'm trying to get them to work on Netbeans IDE but it seems that Netbeans won't allow using files from Visual Studio. I have tried to add the tchar.h file and all other file it required (including some C++ core files) and commenting the errors written in those care files: #error ERROR: Use of C runtime library internal header file. But netbenas can't find the tchar.h file while being in same folder...

  • Design Code Outside of an IDE (C#)?

    Does anyone design code outside of an IDE? I think that code design is great and all but the only place I find myself actually design code (besides in my head) is in the IDE itself. I generally think about it a little before hand but when I go to type it out, it is always in the IDE; no UML or anything like that. Now I think having UML of your code is really good because you are able to see a lot more of the code on one screen however the issue I have is that once I type it in UML, I then have to type the actual code and that is just a big duplicate for me. For those who work with C# and design code outside of Visual Studio (or at least outside Visual Studio's text editor), what tools do you use? Do those tools allow you to convert your design to actual skeleton code? It is also possible to convert code to the design (when you update the code and need an updated UML diagram or whatnot)?

  • Silverlight Pixel Shader resource "not found"; what should the URI be?

    So I've written and compiled an HLSL pixel shader with Shazzam, placed the resulting .ps file in my project, and am trying to instantiate it. No matter what URI I put, Blend tells me that the resource can't be found whenever I try to view any xaml designer, and Visual Studio just shows me a blank page, both in design view and if I try to run the application. This is a Silverlight 4 SketchFlow project, in Blend 4 RC and Visual Studio 2010. I've tried both Resource and EmbeddedResource as the Build Action for the .ps file, neither make any difference (I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be set to Resource). I've tried the following URI formats: "ShaderFileName.ps" "/ShaderFileName.ps" "AssemblyName;component/ShaderFileName.ps" "/AssemblyName;component/ShaderFileName.ps" I also tried moving the shader file from the Screens assembly to the root assembly (that's how SketchFlow projects are created) and that didn't help either. Anyone have any thoughts?

  • Flipping issue when interpolating Rotations using Quaternions

    I use slerp to interpolate between two quaternions representing rotations. The resulting rotation is then extracted as Euler angles to be fed into a graphics lib. This kind of works, but I have the following problem; when rotating around two (one works just fine) axes in the direction of the green arrow as shown in the left frame here the rotation soon jumps around to rotate from the opposite site to the opposite visual direction, as indicated by the red arrow in the right frame. This may be logical from a mathematical perspective (although not to me), but it is undesired. How could I achieve an interpolation with no visual flipping and changing of directions when rotating around more than one axis, following the green arrow at all times until the interpolation is complete?     I have a MVC web application with a table in the model that I would like to add to. I have the primary key set along with the other data fields, but every time I try to add to the table, I get the following error: "Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'TABLE_NAME' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF." I'm not sure why this problem is coming up, I have the primary key set as the identity and it is also set to auto increment in the Visual Studio table designer. Is there any way I can adjust the IDENTITY_INSERT parameter in the table designer in Visual Studio?? Or is there some other issue that might be causing this.

App Type: Windows Phone 7.1 Using: 1) sql-net Version 1.0.5, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio 2) C# Sqlite for WP7 (wp7sqlite) ( Community.CSharpSqlite.WP7) Version 0.1.1, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio. Error 6 Argument 2 must be passed with the 'ref' keyword C:\Dev\Learning\SQLite.cs Line: 2492 Column: 64 I can make the compile errors go away by replacing the "out" keyword with the "ref" keyword, but that is likely to lead to other issues.   • Eclipse Class File Metadata

    In Visual Studio, I can obtain a succinct list of public methods/members exposed in a class for which I do not have the source (i.e. bundled inside a DLL) by pressing F12 (GoToDefinition). Similarly, I am learning the Android API - in Eclipse. Jumping to an Android framework method definition produces decompilation output which is not intuitive to read, and is very verbose. To mimic results like Visual Studio, I am considering several options: How can I format the decompilation output to be 'cleaner' - I have looked through Eclipse's preferences menus and have not found a way to do this. How do I 'add corresponding source files' once Google provides it, so that jumping to definition yields the actual definition? Is there a plugin that does this already? I looked into Jadclipse, but that project has not been updated in several years, and is still a decompiler. Thank you in advance.

Convenient and efficient for mutually-dependent projects done by teams of 1-10 and consisting of files of quite a diverse selection of types. Including early-stage projects with unstable design and experimenting. Modern. As fresh and future-technology-feature-rich as possible. Free & open-source. Should I take a closer look at SVN, Mercurial, GIT, Bazaar, or something else?

  • Windows 7: Loop through Taskbar items

    Hi, I'm trying to build a small utility for myself only to hide labels of running programs with windows visible in the taskbar where the label holds no information (for example "iTunes", "Microsoft SQL Server Mngmt Studio", "~cmd.exe") but keep windows like Windows Explorer and Visual Studio and MSN ungroupped, with labels (to know which folders you are currently listing, which projects are open, and who are you chatting with by name). I'm trying to loop through all windows in the taskbar on windows 7, but without any luck. I found some samples for XP's taskbar reorders, they no longer usable. I've checked the samples in WindowsAPICodePack for Windows 7 Taskbar manipulation, but it only lets me access my processes' windows.

  • How do I convert a windows forms app from C# to VB ?

    I've been converting all kinds of other things, classes, interfaces, ASP.NET MVC apps, and WPF applications, but I am stumped as to how to convert a windows forms application, as the whole structure seems to be different. Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this problem? I see essentially that you have two files, Form1.cs and Form1.Designer.cs. Literally translating them from C# to VB doesn't work because of some intricacies or other of how Visual Basic works. I think you /might/ be able to convert Form1.cs in this way, as it's just a constructor plus event handlers, but the designer contains the references to the controls etc. and I am not sure how to go about doing that. I am using Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2.

  • LINQ to SQL -- Can't modify return type of stored procedure.

    When I drag a particular stored procedure into the VS 2008 dbml designer, it shows up with Return Type set to "none", and it's read only so I can't change it. The designer code shows it as returning an int, and if I change that manually, it just gets undone on the next build. But with another (nearly identical) stored procedure, I can change the return type just fine (from "Auto Generated Type" to what I want.) I've run into this problem on two separate machines. Any idea what's going on?   • How to build boost::asio example?

    Hello, I'm trying to build an example of boost::asio http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/doc/html/boost_asio/example/echo/async_tcp_echo_server.cpp but without any luck. System: Windows Vista, Visual C++ 2008 Pro, Boost 1.43. I've added to the project, at VC, the include path and the additional lib path (see note #1), yet the linker gives me this error: 1>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_system-vc90-mt-gd-1_43.lib' What do I do next? In the documentation (the "getting started" part) it says that some boost's components must be built separately. Ok. How do I do this and where do I find them? In the "getting started" page there's the section "6.1 Link From Within the Visual Studio IDE". It just tells me how to link, and not how to build it. Anyone can shed some light? Because I am definitely missing something here. Note #1: There's not "boost_1_43_0/lib" folder but a "libs". The doc needs a refresh.

My question: i want to design a database, that will be used for a production facility of different types of products where each product has its own (number of) parameters. because i want the serial numbers to be in one tabel for overview purposes i have a problem with these different paraeters . One solution could be AEV, but it has its downsides, certainly because we have +- 5 products with every product +- 20.000 serial numbers (records). it looks a bit overkill to me... I just don't know how one could design a database so that you have an attribute in a mastertable that says: 'hey, you could find details of this record in THAT detail-table". 'in a way that you qould easely query the results) currenty i am using Visual Basic & Acces 2007. but i'm going to Visual Basic & MySQL. thanks for your help. Bob

    For developing programs for windows, we need windows SDK. I understand that this SDK is what helps to create windows and handle window events and all that. I suppose it also enables us to manipulate with files and registries. (Does the same SDK is the reason for thread creation and handling?) All that is fine. I would like to know what are the files and libraries that come as a part of this SDK. Also does it come when I install the OS or when I install editors like Visual studio? Sometimes I see links to windows SDK separately as such. Is it same as the one that I get when installing Visual Studio or has something more than that.
