• XNA how to organize code with game components (managers)

  XNA If I have a button class, and I have a buttonManager class that manages what buttons to be drawn to the screen depending on what the current game state is (main menu, in game, etc), how do I organize my code so that when I click on a button, it takes the user to a different screen. (ex. options menu, ingame). To be more specific, if I were to put the check to see if the user clicks on the button within the buttonManager how would I have the game switch and run the actual game (which is in an entire different class)? • TFS: How do I view .cs files in the VS IDE when viewing details of a shelveset?

  For our code review process we open the details of a shelveset to see all files that have been worked on. Right clicking and choosing "Compare" works great for existing ( modified ) files. But, when a file has been added I just want to view the file. Double clicking ( or right click - view ) opens .cs ( and .sql )files in notepad. When I try to open a .PRC file ( extension for our stored procedures ) I get a prompt that allows me to choose what program to use for viewing. Does anyone know how to get this prompt to show up for .cs files ( and all other files, for that matter ) Thanks! • I need to add a KeyboardEvent to a movie clip in Flash cs4 AS 3.0

  I have a movieclip called keyCButton that I want to add a keyboardEvent ("C" Key) to. This will play an animation from frames 2-30 with a sound. I have watched a few tutorials but still haven't gotten the correct information to make it work. The following is my code. stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, cNote); function cNote(event:KeyboardEvent):void { if (event.keyCode == Keyboard.SPACE) { keyCButton.gotoAndPlay(2) } } at frame 30 the code tells it to stop and then go back to frame 1 This works for the MouseEvent.CLICK but the KeyboardEvent does nothing.

• Triggering Quartz job from JSF (Any front end)- How to wait for the job execution to be over

  I am developing a front end to trigger a quartz job on the fly. I have a form in the JSF page whose click action will dynamically trigger a quartz job. The job is invoked by the following statement, the job is triggered and everything works fine. scheduler.triggerJob("Job1",Scheduler.DEFAULT_GROUP,jobDataMap); From what I understand the job seems to run in a separate thread and the execution of the calling function does not wait for the job to be over. Since I am invoking the job from front end, I would like to wait till the job is over before I navigate to a different JSF page. So I can display an error message if the job fails. I would also like to display a message to the user, "Processing job, please wait.." until the job is actually over. Any ideas on how to accomplish this will be appreciated. Thanks !

• How do I get AuthLogic to skip Password validation?

  I think I'm just missing something obvious. I send a user a perishable token embedded in a link. They click on it, and they come back to the site. I want to log them in automatically (I'm not building a banking app). This seems like this should be simple, but all the examples I've found require a password. How do I skip this completely? I just seem to get UserSession.create to work.

• IE8 positions DIV overlay wrong way and keeps playing video when it's hidden.

  Hi! Please take a look at: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/PasswordGenerator/default.aspx (the Overview tab, on the diagram). The issue is wjen you click on any of the diagram elements say "Character Groups" all browsers, except IE8 behave well - that is they display the overlay, start playing a video, and when the overlay is closed, the video stops playing an the div is hidden. IE8, on the other hand has two flaws: it positions the overlay way towards the bottom and too much to the right, and even more annoyingly - it keeps playing video in the background even when the overlay div is closed! I use flowplayer.org/tools/overlay/ for overlay. Can you help please? Thanks.

  I want to catch both mouse down and mouse up using gesture recognizer. However, when the mouse down is caught, mouse up is never caught. In an html page, I have javascript code that allows me to open and close a popup window by clicking on a link displayed in the link, so the text displayed in the link changes to the state of the popup window (open-closed). With a variable true / false I manage the opening and closing of the popup window to click on a link whose text is aligned "opened popup" / "closed popup". The next step is to make this same change in state (true / false, "opened popup" / "close popup") directly by closing the popup window. The idea is to not have to refresh the page. Is this possible? • Silverlight caching HTTP POST which results in a 404

  Situation: I am developing a Silverlight-Application which needs Component based on a local HTTP Listener. The HTTP-Listener can't be 'required' to be installed and running when the Application starts, so the Application does the following: Handshake via HTTP POST If Connection failed open a Click-Once Setup to install the component. So far so good.... now the Problem is: If the HTTP POST for the Handshake fails, because the Listener is not running the POST is cached.... and the following Connection Attempts after the Service is running fail, because the HTTP POST is still in Cache after the first try. NOTE: This is NOT a policy-problem. I'm using SL4 PS: I allready tried adding a random parameter to the URL like First try: Second try: didn't work :-(

  I'm not sure if there is an explanation on SO for beginners, but if so, could you provide the links. I am interested in creating a "recent viewed" function that shows what links they clicked on before. I'm not sure if this is the 'correct' way to do it, but this is what I have so far... user clicks on a link(say ad.php?posting_id=12). if the user doesn't click on the link, no cookie or session is stored for the link if the user clicks on the link, it sets a cookie for $_cookie['ad.php?posting_id=22'] Each time the user clicks, more cookies are set In the recent viewed function, it gets all the $_cookie variables and displays them. if the user wants to clear the history, just destroy all the cookies I'm not sure if this is the way to do it, but is the viable? If not, what are the steps to create a "recent viewed" function

  I have made a Java Swing Desktop application in Netbeans which can play media files I have put the videos in my workspace resources location and in my java program I am calling those media files using an URL which is something like this: C:/users/Dell/My Documents /NetBeansProjects/Media/src/resources/ MediaFiles/ddd.mpg This works well when I run in my IDE and also i have made Jar for this it works well on my computer but the problem is when i copy this jar file on my friends system the interface is coming but when I click a button to play a media file it says: C:/users/Dell/MyDocuments/NetBeansProjects/Media/src/resources/ MediaFiles/ddd.mpg does not exist So, please provide me a solution of how to set the default path so that when I run a jar file on other systems it should play the media file location I am passing as in my program. How to set the path for the location of media files in program? Update The videos are in the jar file.

• Learning rails and AJAX. How do I load a div via ajax and then toggle hiding/showing it?

  I'm doing my first Ruby on Rails project. I am working on a project where the user can add a new message. Then they can add updates to this message like a thread. I've got it all written and now I'm going back and applying some AJAX. I want to show just the main message when the page first loads. Then when I click a link I want an AJAX event to fire that populates a div with all the updates to the message. Then I want this same link to toggle hiding and showing the div. I've made a submit button to fire the ajax and get back the updates using form_remote_tag. I've also created a separate link to toggle the hiding using $(div_id).toggle();. But now I'm stuck on how to combine these two things into one all purpose link. Thanks.

• I have a problem implementing states in my Flex app, please help!

  Hey guys, I'm trying to work out how to use states in my Flex app. I've created two states, State1 and Stage 2. Both are based off the base state. I've created a few visual elements for State1, and given each of them includeIn="State1". But when I'm in design mode and click on State2, these elements are still visible? Why is that? If I try to delete them while State2 is selected, all that happens is RemoveChild is added to the State2 tag. Is this how I'm supposed to do it? Thanks for reading!

Samsung "help" sent me a link to click but when I received it it was in Spanish tho the doc I'd said "english". The Samsung support line timed me out because I couldn't type fast enough when I told them I received it in Spanish. I explored the translator and didn't see how to translate a doc. Asked Google how to get the manual they gave a different doc I'd and sent it to clipboards. How can I read it? Now what? Tried to send this message and asking me for a tag and I have no idea what that means so I just clicked one. That's why I need the manual so desperately.   Dear All! I have a datagrid which contains bid and ask - prices for currency-symbols. The data is updated every seconds. I update the data by creating a new collection of my viewmodel-entities and bind this collection to the datagrid every second. The problem is: Because my datagrid contains a template-column with a button "buy", this button is also recreated every second! This means, that when the user hovers the button, the hover-styles blinks, as the button is recreated every second. Additionally sometimes the click-event is not fired correctly, if the button is recreated while the user has his mouse-left-button pressed. Any suggestions, how to solve real-time-update a datagrid with button-columns?

• VS2008 - 'Set as startup project' setting dissapearing.

  I have a solution with a bunch of projects in it. The 'startup' project is a ASP.NET MVC Web Application. I set as the startup project (by right clicking on it in Solution Explorer and selecting 'set as startup project'. The project title goes bold and everything works fine for a while. Then I will be editing one of the supporting projects, and come to click the 'Start Debugging' button, and bang - the 'project of this type cant be started' message. I then check, and the web project is no longer set as the startup project. And so on.... Anyone know why this is happening?

• Automated browsing with javascript?

  I'm trying to do some browser automation, but I'm having some problems. Basically, what I'd like to do is load a set pages, set some forms options, click a button and view the results for each page that I open. Originally, I tried to do this by placing the pages I wanted to automate in iframes and then using javascript to drive the interactions I want in each, but that results in a Permissions Error, since the sites I want to automate are not on my server. Is there any way around this? The other possibility I've thought of is to use QT's webkit class and the evaluateJavaScript method to accomplish what I'd like to do, but this seems a bit more heavy weight for something that is, conceptually, pretty simple.
