  • Implementing Read Only view in Winform App

    I have an in house winform app for viewing, editing, and inserting member data. There are about 40 sepertate form pages that they use to manipulate different portions of the data. My question is this; What is the best way of implementing a read only view for a form page? My thoughts were to cycle through the controls setting Enabled = False or leave them be but not allow any data changes(no Save Button etc) unless it is "unlocked". I am curious how others handle this with WinForm apps?

  • ESS/AucTeX/Sweave integration

    I'm using GNU/Linux distro (Arch, if that's relevant), Emacs v23.2.1, ESS v5.9 and AucTeX v11.86. I want to setup AucTeX to recognize .Rnw files, so I can run LaTeX on .Rnw files with C-c C-c and get .dvi file automatically. I reckon it's quite manageable by editing .emacs file, but I still haven't got a firm grasp on Elisp. Yet another problem is quite annoying - somehow, LaTeX is not recognizing \usepackage{Sweave} in preambule, so I actually need to copy Sweave.sty file (in my case located in /usr/share/R/texmf/Sweave.sty) to directory where .Rnw file is located (and I'm getting more frustrated with the fact that this is common bug on Windows platforms!) My question boils down to two problems: how to make LaTeX recognize \usepackage{Sweave} (without copying Sweave.sty to "home" folder each time) how to setup AucTeX to compile .Rnw files to .dvi

Although you would like to do lots of things, your main priority is that the system responsiveness stay at acceptable levels so the user doesn't notice such a heavy load. Is there a way (ideally platform/language independent) to control what algorithms should be executed in the background based on the system load and responsiveness?

  • Problem in migrating to LAMP from XAMPP.. Memory limit error

    I was using XAMPP for my local machine but as I wanted to run applications like mysql work bench and some test frameworks I decided to switch to LAMP self install. I'm using ubuntu and followed the instructions at: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP But the problem is LAMP is consuming too much of my memory (RAM) I've allocated 124 MB currently but still it gives me memory exhausted error when I run Drush (Drupal command line).     Hey guys, I'm working on a basic DBMS as a pet project and planning to prototype in Python. I figure there's a reason there are only a few Python databases, and my gut agrees that my favorite language will be too slow to act as an honest performing database, but I'm looking forward to using it to learn what I need quickly. Would someone please contradict me? Is Python as ill-suited right now for this sort of thing as I think?

    Update I am making this a community wiki, for three reasons: I don't feel like I got a definitive answer, but I have long since stopped needing an answer, because I rolled my own accordion function this question gets tons of views, so clearly lots of people are still interested So if anybody wants to change/clarify this question and make it a definitive guide, be my guest. I'm working on a page using jQuery's accordion UI element. I modeled my HTML on that example, except that inside the <li> elements, I have some unordered lists of links. Specifically, one accordion menu on the page moves jerkily and has flashes of content. I know that it's not a CSS issue because the same thing happens if I don't include my CSS files. The other accordion menu on the page opens the first section you click and, after that, won't open any of them. Both of these problems are IE-specific, and both go away if I use the option animated: false. But I'd like to keep the default slide animation, since it helps the user understand what the menu is doing. Is there another way?

    I'm looking for an easy way to find the process tree (as shown by tools like Process Explorer), in C# or other .Net language. It would also be useful to find the command-line arguments of another process (the StartInfo on System.Diagnostics.Process seems invalid for process other than the current process). I think these things can only be done by invoking the win32 api, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. Thanks! Robert

  • How to make an entity out of a join table without primary key

    I'm trying to generate JPA entities out of an existing database having an "interesting" design. Database has a table called UserSet, which can have links to several other UserSets. There is a one to many relation between UserSets and LinkedUserSets. LinkedUserSets also has one to one relation to UserSets. I tried to generate a JPA Entity out of the database structure using Dali JPA Tools. The resulting entity Linkeduserset misses @Id or @EmbeddedId annotation and thus failes to compile. As the resulting entity contains only two @JoinColumns (which cannot be marked as @Id), I have not so far found a way around this issue. Database structure can not be modified in any way. Is there a way to overcome this somehow?   • Way to check files in and out with multiple developers.

    I am a web developer working with 2-3 people including me. Our current setup is very simplistic. We try to let each other know when we are working on a specific file. We use FTP to edit our files. Recently we have run into the problem of 2 people accidentally editing one file, or working on a local file then uploading when another person just did the same. From what I have read I need some sort of control system. I have heard of subversion and mercurial. It seems that these systems may not be what I need though, since its just giving me different versions of the files. I don't know if it solves the issue of two people working on a file and overwriting each others work. What are your suggestions for solving my problem?

  • How can an IBM WebSphere MQ's Queue Manager's local queues be enumerated?

    I'm trying to write a simple tool for monitoring the state of a Queue Manager. One of the things I'd like to monitor is the current queue depth of each queue. I haven't been able to find a way to programmatically enumerate all of the queues on a particular Queue Manager, though. Do any of the MQ APIs provide this functionality? I'd prefer to do this with C, but if it's only possible with another language's bindings, I'd at least like to know that.

    I'm trying to make a simple calculator application in cocoa. The program hangs when I click on one of my buttons. I think I've traced the problem to the part of my controller that adds a digit to the end of the number currently on the display: - (void)updateNumber:(int)buttonClicked{ *self.activeNumberPointer = *self.activeNumberPointer * 10 + buttonClicked; [outputField setFloatValue:*self.activeNumberPointer]; } I used a pointer to the "activeNumber" in order to allow my program to tell which of the two operands I'm editing.   • std::locale breakage on MacOS 10.6 with LANG=en_US.UTF-8

    I have a C++ application that I am porting to MacOSX (specifically, 10.6). The app makes heavy use of the C++ standard library and boost. I recently observed some breakage in the app that I'm having difficulty understanding. Basically, the boost filesystem library throws a runtime exception when the program runs. With a bit of debugging and googling, I've reduced the offending call to the following minimal program: #include <locale> int main ( int argc, char *argv [] ) { std::locale::global(std::locale("")); return 0; } This program fails when I run this through g++ and execute the resulting program in an environment where LANG=en_US.UTF-8 is set (which on my computer is part of the default bash session when I create a new console window). Clearing the environment variable (setenv LANG=) allows the program to run without issues. But I'm surprised I'm seeing this breakage in the default configuration. My questions are: Is this expected behavior for this code on MacOS 10.6? What would a proper workaround be? I can't really re-write the function because the version of the boost libraries we are using executes this statement internally as part of the filesystem library. For completeness, I should point out that the program from which this code was synthesized crashes when launched via the 'open' command (or from the Finder) but not when Xcode runs the program in Debug mode. edit The error given by the above code on 10.6.1 is: $ ./locale terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid Abort trap

Now, if I goto the following url, i get a 404... http://whatever/Home/MissingActionMethod So there's no ActionMethod called MissingActionMethod in the HomeController. So, does this mean, if i goto the 1st route defined, above .. and fail to find an action .. do I then come back and try the second route? rinse-repeat? Or once i match a route, i then try and execute that route .. and if i fail (ie, find the action is missing) .. then .. bad luck? boomski? cheers!

  • Multiple TinyMCE editors, but only one toolbar?

    Hello there. I've looked around the forum, but cannot seem to find a definite answer to this problem... I'm using jQuery and TinyMCE on our website. I've gone through the docs of TinyMCE, but am still getting lost I'm afraid. We're doing an interface that requires edit-in-place in multiple places in the page. The only thing is, each of these will have all the editing choices from TinyMCE in one toolbar at the top. So, to recap it, it's multiple editors (that each have no toolbars of their own, just a place to edit or select the text) and only one toolbar at the top of the page to control whichever textbox is active at the time. How could this be achieved? Is it even possible? Any help, any push in the right direction, any hints/tips/knowledge at all on this problem would be a great, great help. Thanks, James
