  • Encapsulate a set of divs with another div in jQuery

    - by lafoaug
    Hi, I am a little stumped with how to do this. I am using jQuery and wish to encapsulate certain sets of divs with a div. For example I have: <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-3">x</div> And wish to end up with: <div id="set-1"> <div class="group-1">x</div> <div class="group-1">x</div> </div> <div id="set-2"> <div class="group-2">x</div> <div class="group-2">x</div> </div> <div id="set-3"> <div class="group-3">x</div> </div> I am able to cycle through each div and add a div around each one but not the way I want above. Any advice appreciate. Thanks.

  • execute javascsript for loop alternately forward and backward

    - by Stiff Mittens
    What I'm trying to do is iterate through an array in chunks, alternating the direction of iteration from chunk to chunk. Confused? So am I. For example, if I want to loop thru an array with 25 elements, but I want to do it in this order: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, what would be the most efficient way of doing this? I'm looking for something scalable because the array I'm working with now is actually 225 elements and I want to traverse it in 15 element chunks, but that may change at some point. So far, the only method I've figured out that actually works is to hard-wire the iteration order into a second array and then iterate through that in the normal way to get the indices for the original array. But that sucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    - by Miftah
    Hi i've got a problem evaluating json. • How do I submit a form from another page?

    - by Tommy
    I have a two page site. Each page contains a header with "tabs" at the top, to navigate between page 1 and 2. When a tab is selected, I need the selected page to re-POST to the server, to quickly refresh before it is displayed. I have a form on each page that allows a manual refresh from that page but need to submit that form from the other page. For example, page 2 is displayed. The tab for page 1 is selected (which is on page 2) It should then submit the refresh form on page 1. Any help is appreciated. (Using jQuery, js, html and CSS)

  • jQuery - making sure content is loaded before it's faded in?

    - by Kenny Bones
    Hi, Nick Craver really helped me out alot with this code in this thread http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2743443/jquery-can-someone-help-stitching-jquery-code-with-ajaxcomplete/2743791#2743791 And it is working. But I notice that there's a small delay after I've clicked a link and before the content is actually loaded. It's not very intense content that's loaded either so I think it's got something to do with the order which things happen in the script. The original code looks like this: $('.dynload').live('click', function(){ var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #content'; $('#content').fadeOut('fast',loadContent); $('#ajaxloader').fadeIn('normal'); function loadContent() { $('#content').load(toLoad,'',showNewContent()) } function showNewContent() { $('#content').fadeIn('fast',hideLoader()); //Cufon.replace('h1, h2, h3, h4, .menuwrapper', { fontFamily: 'advent'}); } function hideLoader() { $('#ajaxloader').fadeOut('normal'); } return false; }); The new code looks like this: $(function() { $('.dynload').live('click', function(){ $('#ajaxloader').fadeIn('fast'); $('#ajaxloaderfridge').fadeIn('fast'); var href = this.href + ' #content'; $('#content').fadeOut('fast',function() { $(this).load(href,'', function(data) { createMenus(); $('#ajaxloader').fadeOut('fast'); $('#ajaxloaderfridge').fadeOut('fast'); $('#content').fadeIn('fast'); Cufon.replace('h1, h2, h3, h4, .menuwrapper', { fontFamily: 'advent'}); }); }); return false; }); }); $(createMenus); function createMenus() { $('#kontrollpanel .slidepanels').kwicks({ min : 42, spacing : 3, isVertical : true, sticky : true, event : 'click' }); } In the original code, #content is faded out, then the function "loadContent" is started. Which is basically what is happening in the new script as well isn't it? And when I was using the old code, the content just faded out and faded in really fast and smooth and with no small pause delay before the content arrived.

  • How to to dump JS array... (boommarklet?)

    - by Soulhuntre
    A page on a site I use is holding some of my data hostage. Once I have logged into the site and navigated to the right page, the data I need is in the array eeData[] - it is 720 elements long (once every 2 minutes of a given day). Rather than simulate the requests to the underlying stuff json supplier and since its only once a day, I am happy to simply develop a bookmarklet to grab the data - preferably as a XML or CSV file. Any pointers to sample code or hints would help. I found a bookmarklet here that is based on this script that does part of this - but I am not up to speed on any potential JS file IO to see if it is possible to induce a file "download" of the data, or pop it opn in a new window I can copy / paste.

  • Firefox DOMParser problem

    - by Michael
    For some reason DOMParser is adding some additional #text elements for each newline \n for this url http://rt.com/Root.rss ...as well as many other RSS I've tried. I checked cnn/bbc feeds, they don't have newlines and dom parser handling them nicely. So I have to add the following before parsing it var xmlText = htmlText.replace(/\n[ ]*/g, ""); var xmlDoc = parser.parseFromString(xmlText, "text/xml"); Server is returning text/xml. var channel = xmlDoc.documentElement.childNodes[0]; this returning \n without my code above and channel with correction.

  • Change cursor style in firefox input file tag

    - by JohnJ
    I have been trying to change the cursor style to look like a pointer rather than an I beam thing, but it looks like FF does not respect the cursor spec in an input file field. For example, I have made this small fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/jDZtn/4/ where Id like the cursor to look like a pointer rather than an Ibeam when the user hovers over it. My end plan is to introduce opacity==0 and use a clickable button over it. I am not sure if this behaviour is a bug or not.

  • Using TweenMax to fade in div with background pattern and z-index not working

    - by shibbydoo
    I'm trying to do this really simple fade using TweenMax for this div I have. Here's the css for the div .aboutBg { background:url(../images/pattern.jpg); top:0; right:0; left:0; bottom:0, position:fixed; border:10px solid red; z-index:10; } TweenMax.to('.aboutPage', 0.5, {autoAlpha:1}); What's happening is the border would fade in nicely but the patterned bg is not, it just pops up at the end of the tween. If I remove the z-index everything works, but I have to have set the z-index so it's on top of my other content. Also I'm not tweening the z-index, it's set before the tween, so I'm not sure why it's not fading correctly. Anyone has any idea? Thanks.

  • Why does the onclick function run on onclick, but not when I call it manually?

    - by Codemonkey
    This is my code // Register onclick var old_onclick = link.onclick; link.onclick = function() { astr_track_action(param); if(typeof(old_onclick) == "function") old_onclick(); } And this is the html <a onclick="alert('hello!');" href="http://www.google.com?acme=link&foo=bar">To google!</a> When I click the link, the alert pops up. But when I override the onclick with my JS code, the alert does not pop up. Any ideas? Edit: I just want to add, I have debugged and confirmed that old_onclick() is run, but no alert message shows up. Edit: Here is the full code from the loop start. I don't see how it's relevant, but it was requested: for(var i = 0; i < document.links.length; i++) { var link = document.links[i]; var eventlink = link.href.split("acme="); if(eventlink.length > 1) { var param = eventlink[1].split("&")[0]; var newlink = link.href; // Register onclick var old_onclick = link.onclick; link.onclick = function() { astr_track_action(param); if(typeof(old_onclick) == "function") old_onclick(); }

  • can not find out if the div element is already set in body in chrome extension

    - by alpham8
    in my chrome extension I got an div, which I will add to the body of the current tab. I am listening to chrome.tabs.onUpdated. If this event is called, I execute a script inside content_scripts. In this function there I´ll wait till the document is ready with jQuery $(document).ready(...). I try to access $("#div").length and sometimes it returns 1 and sometimes 0. It should added to the body, if it´s not already there. For some strange reasons, the onUpdated event is called twice on each page reload. Actually I found no way to check safely if the div was already added.

  • dynamic tag count on keyup

    - by rod
    Hi All, I have a div that contains many spans and each of those spans contains a single href. Basically it's a tag cloud. I have a textbox with a keyup event that filters the tag cloud div (It actually just hides the tags if not in filter condition). Is there a way to get a count of the tags shown as the keyup event occurs? Thanks, rodchar

  • call function inside a nested jquery plugin

    - by tchoesang
    There are many topics related to my question and i have been through most of them, but i haven't got it right. The closest post to my question is the following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1042072/how-to-call-functions-that-are-nested-inside-a-jquery-plugin Below is the jquery plugin i am using. On resize, the element sizes are recalculated. I am now trying to call the function resizeBind() from outside of the jquery plugin and it gives me error I tried the following combinations to call the function $.fn.splitter().resizeBind() $.fn.splitter.resizeBind() Any ideas, where i am getting wrong? ;(function($){ $.fn.splitter = function(args){ //Other functions ...... $(window).bind("resize", function(){ resizeBind(); }); function resizeBind(){ var top = splitter.offset().top; var wh = $(window).height(); var ww = $(window).width(); var sh = 0; // scrollbar height if (ww <0 && !jQuery.browser.msie ) sh = 17; var footer = parseInt($("#footer").css("height")) || 26; splitter.css("height", wh-top-footer-sh+"px"); $("#tabsRight").css("height", splitter.height()-30+"px"); $(".contentTabs").css("height", splitter.height()-70+"px"); } return this.each(function() { }); }; })(jQuery);

  • Animating and moving a draggable shape in KineticJS's dragend event

    - by user3712941
    I would like to animate moving a draggable shape to another position after it has been dragged in KineticJS. I would like to animate the movement of the shape over a period of time (for example, over 1 second). For example, I create a draggable shape and save its initial xy coordinates. I register a "dragend" event on this shape. Then, I drag the shape to a new position. When I release the drag, the dragend event is called. In that event function, I want to animate/ease the shape back to its original position. See my JSFiddle for a complete example: DragSample. (function () { //create variables at global scope var layer; var stage; var triangle; var triangleLastX = 190; var triangleLastY = 120; var tween; function initTween() { tween = new Kinetic.Tween({ node: triangle, duration: 1, easing: Kinetic.Easings.EaseInOut, x: 400, y: 200, }); } this.init = function () { layer = new Kinetic.Layer(); stage = new Kinetic.Stage({ container: 'container', width: 800, height: 600 }); triangle = new Kinetic.RegularPolygon({ x: 190, y: 120, sides: 3, radius: 80, fill: '#00D2FF', stroke: 'black', strokeWidth: 4, draggable: true }); triangle.on('dragstart', function () { triangleLastX = triangle.attrs.x; triangleLastY = triangle.attrs.y; }); triangle.on('dragend', function () { tween.play(); stage.draw(); }); layer.add(triangle); stage.add(layer); initTween (); } window.onload = init(); })(); I have tried doing this several ways. The last way I attempted to do this was using Kinetic's Tween(), however, when I play this Tween from the dragend event handler function, it moves the shape back to its original position immediately (i.e. the position when the drag started), then applies the Tween. Is there any way to achieve animating the movement of a draggable shape to its original position (or any other position for that matter) in dragend using KineticJS?

  • Reference an object, based on a variable with it's name in it

    - by James G
    I'm looking for a way to reference an object, based on a variable with it's name in it. I know I can do this for properties and sub properties: var req = {body: {jobID: 12}}; console.log(req.body.jobID); //12 var subProperty = "jobID"; console.log(req.body[subProperty ]); //12 var property = "body"; console.log(req[property][subProperty]); //12 is it possible for the object itself? var req = {body: {jobID: 12}}; var object = "req"; var property = "body"; var subProperty = "jobID"; console.log([object][property][subProperty]); //12 or console.log(this[object][property][subProperty]); //12 Note: I'm doing this in node.js not a browser. Here is an exert from the function: if(action.render){ res.render(action.render,renderData); }else if(action.redirect){ if(action.redirect.args){ var args = action.redirect.args; res.redirect(action.redirect.path+req[args[0]][args[1]]); }else{ res.redirect(action.redirect.path); } } I could work around it by changing it to this, but I was looking for something more dynamic. if(action.render){ res.render(action.render,renderData); }else if(action.redirect){ if(action.redirect.args){ var args = action.redirect.args; if(args[0]==="req"){ res.redirect(action.redirect.path+req[args[1]][args[2]]); }else if(args[0]==="rows"){ rows.redirect(action.redirect.path+rows[args[1]][args[2]]); } }else{ res.redirect(action.redirect.path); } }
