• loading remote page into DOM with javascript

    - by scoobydoo
    I am trying to write a web widget which will allow users to display customized information (from my website) in their own web page. The mechanism I want to use (for creating the web widget) is javascript. So basically, I want to be able to write some javascript code like this (this is what the end user copies into their HTML page, to get my widget displayed in their page) I have two questions: how do I write a javascript code to fetch the page from the remote url? Ideally this will be PLAIN javascript (i.e. not using jQuery etc - since I dont want to force the user to get third party scripts jQuery which may conflict with other scripts on their page etc) The page I am fetching contains inline javascript, which gets executed in an body.onLoad event, as well as other functions which are used in response to user actions - my questions are: i). will the body.onLoad event be triggered for the retrieved document?. ii). If the retrieved page is dumped directly into the DOM, then the document will contain two
sections, which is no longer valid (X)HTML - however, I need the body.onLoad event to be triggered for the page to be setup correctly, and I also need the other functions in the retrieved page, for the retrieved page to be able to respond to the user interaction. Any suggestions/tips on how I can solve these problems?

  • Sessions not sticking linux server

    - by Jacob Windsor
    I have just moved the dev site over to my linux server for production but the sessions don't seem to be sticking for very long. I am guessing it is the server settings and not the php because it does the same thing with the plesk panel. Whenever a script is executed the sessions seems to get unset. I see nothing in the error log so not sure what it is. It all worked fine on wamp. Anyway I uploaded the php.ini file which was in the wamp server as it had all the settings i needed and all was working on localhost. Not sure what the problem is and this is the final thing that I have to sort out before going into production. And just too add the sessions are being started as they last for a little bit just don't stick around long. Here is the relevent part of my login script just in case there is something wrong with the code: // if login is ok then we add a cookie if($flag == 0) { $pass = htmlspecialchars(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['pass'])); $username = htmlspecialchars(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username'])); $_SESSION['username']=$username; $_SESSION['password']=$pass;

  • Reloading an object not working in rspec

    - by Eric Baldwin
    I am trying to test a controller method with the following code: it "should set an approved_at date and email the campaign's client" do @campaign = Campaign.create(valid_attributes) post :approve, id: @campaign.id.to_s @campaign.reload @campaign.approved_at.should_not be(nil) end However, when I run this test, I get the following error: Failure/Error: @campaign.reload ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound: Couldn't find Campaign without an ID When I run the analagous lines in the rails console, the reload works and the value is set as I need it to be. Why isn't reload working for me when I run the code in an rspec test?

  • How to calculate Content-Length for a file download within Kohana PHP?

    - by moritzd
    I'm trying to send a file from within a Kohana model to the browser, but as soon as I add a Content-Length header, the file doesn't start downloading right away. Now the problem seems to be that Kohana is already outputting buffers. An ob_clean at the begin of the script doesn't help this though. Also adding ob_get_length() to the Content-Length isn't helping since this just returns 0. The getFileSize() function returns the right number: if I run the script outside of Kohana, it works. I read that exit() still calls all destructors and it might be that something is outputted by Kohana afterwards, but I can't find out what exactly. Hope someone can help me out here... This is the piece of code I'm using: public function download() { header("Expires: ".gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s",time()+(3600*7))." GMT\n"); header("Content-Type: ".$this->getFileType()."\n"); header("Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary\n"); header("Last-Modified: " . gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s",$this->getCreateTime()) . " GMT\n"); header("Content-Length: ".($this->getFileSize()+ob_get_length().";\n"); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'.basename($this->getFileName())."\"\n\n"); ob_end_flush(); readfile($this->getFilePath()); exit(); }

    - by senia

  • Looping Through Database Query

    - by DrakeNET
    I am creating a very simple script. The purpose of the script is to pull a question from the database and display all answers associated with that particular question. We are dealing with two tables here and there is a foreign key from the question database to the answer database so answers are associated with questions. Hope that is enough explanation. Here is my code. I was wondering if this is the most efficient way to complete this or is there an easier way?

Advise Me

Today's Question
<?php //Establish connection to database require_once('config.php'); require_once('open_connection.php'); //Pull the "active" question from the database $todays_question = mysql_query("SELECT name, question FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active") or die(mysql_error()); //Variable to hold $todays_question aQID $questionID = mysql_query("SELECT commentID FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active") or die(mysql_error()); //Print today's question echo $todays_question; //Print comments associated with today's question $sql = "SELECT commentID FROM approvedQuestions WHERE status = active"; $result_set = mysql_query($sql); $result_num = mysql_numrows($result_set); for ($a = 0; $a < $result_num; $a++) { echo $sql; } ?>

  • Get last clicked item id

    - by Peeter Kõbu
    I have function like this: $(document).ready(function () { $("*").click(function () { alert($(this).attr('id').toString()); }); }); And on Page i have something like this: <asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent">
Some stuff
Some other stuff <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" />
More stuff <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button" />

If i click something it works fine, but it alerts me three times(or more). For example: I click button2. Alertbox appears with button2.id, then with div3.id, div2.id etc. It shows me all id's under that button. If i try to store this id to variable like this: var storedId = $(this).attr('id').toString(); it stores the last one.That means i get the id of form1. How can i get the first id? The id of clicked button or clicked label or whatever i have on my page.

  • javascript prototype problem

    - by Chris Tosswill
    So I have a rather basic javascript problem which I have been slamming my head into a wall over for awhile:

An Item

An Item

An Item

An Item

An Item

An Item

  Basically, I need to create a sweeper that sets the div to display:none if all the li are display:none. I think it would start like: function sweep(){ $$('div.alist').each( function( s ) { ar = s.down().children }); } Any suggestions for good tutorials would be welcome as well

  • Layering Images & Click to Choose Using Javascript

    - by rneal
    So I'm making a gallery of fabrics and backgrounds for letters for a fraternity/sorority store in my college's town. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is a fabric letter. You can see how it has a white outline (background) and a red inside (foreground). WELL, I want to make it so you can change both the foreground and background, simply by clicking it's similar image. This is what I have so far with these for each fabrics: I really like how this works, but it's only good for one layer. Is there anyway I can add a layer below it, but still make it show at the top of the page? I know I'll have to use photoshop and transparency for both options, thats no problem, but I wanted to make sure I can do this before I start creating 600+ images. I know I can play with z-index and css, but since I'm using wordpress the one example I read about here wasn't working or I didn't completely understand it, and messed up my entire page. Also here's my tester webpage to see the current code in work. (if you click the navy&white stars image, you can see a very rough makeshift "A") Thanks in advance!

  • Should Javascript's "for in" construct iterate the length property?

    - by Eric
    I'm making a bookmarklet, but I've encountered some wierd behaviour in IE8. The code causing the problem is this: var els = document.getElementById("my_id").getElementsByTagName("*"); for(var i in els) { alert(i+","+els[i]) } The first thing that is alerted is "length, n". This isn't the case in chrome: just in IE8. Interestingly, it seems to behave differently depending on whether the code goes in the console/address bar or the page itself. Is this standard behaviour?

  • Why am I unable to prevent the animation queue from stacking without breaking my code?

    - by user1888886
    I am attempting to use jquery and CSS to animate the buttons of a navigation sidebar I am using to signify which button is selected when the mouse is hovered over each. Currently, my code for the CSS appears as such: #navbutton {position:relative; width:178px; height:35px; border:1px #FFF solid; z-index:+3; font-family:'Capriola', sans-serif; font-size:18px; text-align:center;} #navbutton.button {color:#77D; background-color: #F0B0D0;} #navbutton.button_hover {color:#66C; background-color: #FCF; padding:10px;} And my jquery: Before I added the .stop() to each part of the animation, the animation queue would stack up for each time the mouse was moved over each button and then removed. Now that the .stop() has been applied, however, if the mouse is moved away from a button during its animation, the button will freeze and remain in its mid-animation state, unable to be fixed by being hovered over until the page is reloaded, rather than reverting to its original mouseleave state. From everything I've read, this should not be the case. Might anyone be able to tell why my animation queue becomes broken once the .stop() is applied?

    There's a dearth of info in the supporting PDFs and on the web. I happened to come across a post in a blog that mentioned that $.write() or $.writeln() will write a string to the javascript console. Quite useful. Does anyone know if this $ object has any additional properties or methods?
