• (JQuery) How to call a custom function before following link

    - by morpheous
    I want to achieve the following behavior in a page link. When the link is clicked, I want to: First, send (POST) some data back to the server Second, allow the browser to navigate to the url that the link was pointing to. I am relatively new to JQuery, and here is my first attempt below. I will be grateful to any jQuery gurus in here to fillin the blanks (and maybe point out how the snippet below may be improved).

test page

Clik and see

  • Fade in and out a div contains video embedHTML in jquery

    - by Ahmy
    I have a div and three links when a link is clicked the div is set its innerHTML with an embedHTML of video and i need to cause some effects when the current div video is changed on clicking the link Example : Link1 Link2 Link3

  The effect is not noticeable and fading with opacity diminshing is not noticed even if the duration time is increased (e.g. 'slow') and when i replace the EmbedHTML with image this code is applicable and the effect of fading is noticed but with the video it is not noticeable so how can i solve this problem ? Thanks in advance for any try Note: The embedHTML differ as it may come from youtube or any server or from my JWPlayer.

  • Help with 'simple' jQuery question

    - by user318573
    I am trying to get a simple effect working in jQuery, and only have a few hours of experience with it, so have a lot to learn. I managed to get this code working: Which gives me exactly what I want, a 6 pane horizontal accordion effect. Each pane however has a 75x75 image on the upper left, which is always visible no matter which pane is active (and it is this image that when hovered over caused the pane to open) - what I want to do is for the image on the selected 'pane', I want to drop the top margin down 10px, and then put it back to 0px when a new one is selected, i.e. so the selected panes image is always 10px lower than the other 5 images. I suspect this should be easy, but not quite grasping the syntax yet. Thanks.

  • jQuery Mobile and Select menu with URLs

    - by user1907347
    Been battling with this for a while now. I'm trying to get a select menu to work as a navigation menu but I cannot get the URLs to work and have it actually change pages. In the head: With this Menu:
  Navigation Home Services Trainers Locations Calendar Contact Us

  • how Two elements - IMG - DIV when hover over IMG show/hide the DIV - added with hover hide/show on i

    - by Jan Fosgerau
    Im very new to the wonder that is jquery. and i just figure out how to make my img buttons show/hide with a opacity difference (as such) which is good and all. but i also need to make the button when hovered over show text just above it that is specific to that button. i made these here elements that are looped in a for each.

<xsl:value-of select="@nodeName"/>

    i need to make the individual text appear when hovered over its button. hence i have the id="page-{@id}" looped out along and need to get this place in the jquery code i presume. so when i hover over a img class="ExcommKnap" it makes the correct text visible. But i need the div id="page-{id}" to be invisible to begin with on pageload and then visible when its button is being hovered over. can anyone help ?

  • jQuery jPicker colorpicker: How to convert from 8 digit (w Transparency) to standard 6 digit hex?

    - by Scott B
    I've got a jPicker installed and running fine; its a pretty sweet script. However, the value it returns to my input box is 8 digit hex. I need it to return 6 digit hex. Rather than post-process the 8 digit into 6, I'd rather just hack into the script and force 6 digit. Alternately, I'd be ok with hooking into the change event of the jPicker to intercept the value its sending to the input element and doing the conversion there just before it updates the input with the hex. Here's my code: $(function() { $('#myThemeColor').jPicker(); /* Bind jPicker to myThemeColor input */ $("#carousel").jCarouselLite({ btnNext: ".next", btnPrev: ".prev", visible: 6, speed: 700 }); And here's the code I'm working with to intercept the myThemeColor input's change event, but its not firing at all. $('#myThemeColor').change(function() { alert(this.val()); /* does not fire on any action */) if($(this).val().length == 8) { $(this).val(function(i, v) { return v.substring(0, 6); }); } });

  • Rails 2.3.4 and jquery form plugin works on development, not in production?

    - by hemajang
    Hello, i'm trying to build a contact form in Rails 2.3.4. I'm using the jQuery Form plugin along with this (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) for validations. Everything works in my development environment (mac os x snow leopard), the loading gif appears and on my log the email gets sent and the "request completed" notice shows. But on my production machine the loading gif just keeps going and the form doesn't get sent. I've waited as long as I could, nothing. Here is my code: /public/javascripts/application.js // client-side validation and ajax submit contact form $('#contactForm').validate( { rules: { 'email[name]': { required: true }, 'email[address]': { required: true, email: true }, 'email[subject]': { required: true }, 'email[body]': { required: true } }, messages: { 'email[name]': "Please enter your name.", 'email[address]': "Please enter a valid email address.", 'email[subject]': "Please enter a subject.", 'email[body]': "Please enter a message." }, submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ dataType: 'script', beforeSend: function() { $(".loadMsg").show(); } }); return false; } }); I'm using the submitHandler to send the actual ajaxSubmit. I added the "dataType: "script" and the "beforeSubmit" for the loading graphic. def send_mail if request.post? respond_to do |wants| ContactMailer.deliver_contact_request(params[:email]) flash[:notice] = "Email was successfully sent." wants.js end end end Everything works fine on development, but not in production. What am I missing or did wrong?

  • Sending an AJAX Request - Can't get to work

    - by user357944
    I'm trying to make an AJAX GET request, but I simply cannot get it to work. I want to retrieve the HTML source of example.com. I've previously used JQuery to send AJAX requests, but I use JQuery only for its AJAX capabilities so it's a waste to include the 30KB file for one task. What is it that I'm doing wrong?

  • Javascript dynamic table memory usage

    - by Dan
    I use a dynamic table:

Build table

Using chromes task manager, each time new data is loaded the memory usage increases considerably and doesn't go down, so after some time the app consumes a lot of memory and requires the browser to be closed. Is there any change in the code I can use to solve this or is it a browser side problem?

  • How to open multiple socket connections and do callbacks in PHP

    - by Click Upvote
    I'm writing some code which processes a queue of items. The way it works is this: Get the next item flagged as needing to be processed from the mysql database row. Request some info from a google API using Curl, wait until the info is returned. Do the remainder of the processing based on the info returned. Flag the item as processed in the db, move onto the next item. The problem is that on step # 2. Google sometimes takes 10-15 seconds to return the requested info, during this time my script has to remain halted and wait. I'm wondering if I could change the code to do the following instead: Get the next 5 items to be processed as usual. Request info for items 1-5 from google, one after the other. When the info for item 1 is returned, a 'callback' should be done which calls up a function or otherwise calls some code which then does the remainder of the processing on items 1-5. And then the script starts over until all pending items in db are marked processed. How can something like this be achieved?

  • closure not working

    - by dorelal
    var Dog = function() { var _instance = 'hello world'; return function() { console.log(this._instance); } } (); //note that it is self invoking function var l = new Dog(); //#> undefined In the above case I was expecting output of 'hello world'. Why this._instance is not accessing the the varible which should be accessible by virtue of closure. I tested this in FF and am getting undefined.

  • not a proper naming convention but it's working fine, How and what is need of naming conventions if it works?

    - by Pravallika69
    I'm new to javascript programming. I have found below example while practicing javascript.

1

2

3

What's my doubt is, naming conventions for id attribute must start with an alphabet followed by numbers and underscore. But in this example even though they used numbers as id's the code working fine.Then what is the need of following naming conventions. It seems to be simple but anyone please clarify it.

  • Image Upload with Mootools

    - by notme
    I am creating an ajax uploader with mootools. When I remove the ajax and simply upload the form I get $_FILES with the file data present. But when I use the ajax version, the $_FILES super global is empty. Every other part of the form is present. It acts as if it does not send the image at all but only in the ajax version. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Different Assembly Name for Each Platform Target

    - by Murray
    I need to generate different assembly names depending on the platform target. For example, I have a console application "bob.exe". Instead of building for AnyCPU, I need to build explicitly for x86 and x64 and thus want "bob32.exe" and "bob64.exe". The Application tab in Visual Studio 2010 project options disables the Platform combobox. Build Events also don't allow options per platform so I can't rename it afterwards very easily.

  • What is an efficient way to serve images (PHP)?

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys currently I am thinking of serving images using an image handler script. I have two sources of images. One is from my web images folder where images that are used to construct my site interface are served. The other is in each users images folder where they can store their own images. I was thinking of giving each user image a unique id and then searching that id with the image handler script and serving the image, and changing the file name. The problem is that my site images folder does not have any information in the database and thus has no ids, should I just serve directly? Also this way of serving user images does not seem like the most efficient. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. $sql="SELECT username,file_name FROM images WHERE id=?"; $stmt=$conn->prepare($sql); $result=$stmt->execute(array($ID)); while($row = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)){ $image_name = $row['file_name']; $username = $row['username']; } $path="$username/images/$image_name"; header("Expires: -1"); header("Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate"); header("Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0", false); readfile($path);
