  • jQuery: Freezing/Disabling all events temporarily?

    I have the following usecase: A div with some buttons When the user clicks on a button, a popup is shown and the background div is faded out to 0.5 opacity The problem is that when the popup comes in, the user is still able to click on the background buttons. At this point, I can remove the entire DIV temporarily but I don't want to do that. Is there anyway I can disable all the previously attached events and then add event handlers ONLY to the current popup? (I mean something like a close button should still work on a popup) Any suggestions?

  • How to store <TR> id value in array, when I toggle?

    I am toggling 'tr.subCategory1'and its siblings .RegText. at the same time I am trying to store its ids in the array like this list_Visible_Ids[$(this).attr('id')] = $(this).css('display') != 'none' ? 1 : null; (When I collapsed I need store 'null' in array at its id place, If I expand I need store I need store 1 at its id place). But everytime alert($(this).css('display')) showing block. How can I handle this?.   • Starting an ASP.NET MVC 4 project. Is it necessary to use RequireJS if I'm using bundling?

    If RequireJS makes it so that multiple js files are combined into a single main.js file, is it essentially the same as ASP.NET's script bundling functionality? Would the only bonus of using RequireJS in addition to bundling be the ability to have certain scripts be loaded according to RequireJS configuration? I'm very new to both bundling and RequireJS, but after doing some reading, it seems like bundling takes care of multiple requests to load several js files. Are there any other things I might be missing out on with regards to using RequireJS with bundling?

    I have a little problem: slideHelpers.total = 4 for (i=1;i <= slideHelpers.total; i++) { $('<a href="#">' + i + '</a>').bind('click', function(){ alert('go to the ' + i + ' slide')}).appendTo('.slideaccess') } the alert gives out 5 what is logic, because when the function click triggers i is actually 5. But i would like to have the same i as in my <a> tag. What is the best way to handle this? I could put i in the data() of the <a> tag for example but i am sure there is a easier way.

I also have this big image and when you click on one of the thumbnails, the image is replaced by the thumbnail and thats really the thumbnail I want to exclude...Could I possible just say if one of the 3 images src = this one image = src remove the class from this thumbnail? Which way would be better? I am very new at jquery :( I hope this makes sense.     I have written code to upload the files of different types using php, and also i am saving their location information and date in database table. i made a query to display list of files i have uploaded...and resulting output on a html page as follows 1.uploads/clouds.png date and time 2.uploads/resume.pdf dare and time .......so on is there any different any way to display them by their file types as like an operating systems do..... or any better way.... However the following doesn't work: select_link.up('form'); // returns undefined Yet, this does. select_link.up().up().up(); // returns HTMLFormElement Clearly this is an ancestor of a.select_all. The API Docs state Element.up() supports a CSSRule. What am I missing here?

  • Force download through markup or JS

    Lets assume I have a file on a CDN (Cloud Files from Rackspace) and a static html page with a link to that file. Is there any way I can force download this file (to prevent it from opening in the browser -- for mp3s for example)? We could make our server read the file and set the corresponding header to: header("Content-Type: application/force-download") but we have about 5 million downloads per month so we would rather let the CDN take care of that. Any ideas?

  • How to create a nested form in backbone relational?

    I would like to be able to create nested models at the same time in backbone. I know how to use backbone relational to create the parent model. Then once it is saved, I can create child models through backbone relational. However, I want to be able to create both the parent and child models at the same time, which might not be possible because I can only create the child model once the parent model has already been created. For example, let's say I was creating a forum like the one from the awesome backbone relational tutorial - http://antoviaque.org/docs/tutorials/backbone-relational-tutorial/. I would want to create a thread and a message at the same time(through the click of a single button) rather than create a thread then a message. Is this possible? Is there a better way of doing this that I'm not thinking of?

I have debugged this and it seems that in triggerEvent the variable this is referencing the global window object. I thought it should reference myObj (which is what I need).     I've seen this question regarding inheritance in Backbone: Backbone.js view inheritance. Useful but doesn't answer my question. The problem I'm experiencing is this: Say I have a class Panel (model in this example); var Panel = Backbone.Model.extend({ defaults : { name : 'my-panel' } }); And then an AdvancedPanel; var AdvancedPanel = Panel.extend({ defaults : { label : 'Click to edit' } }); The following doesn't work: var advancedPanel = new AdvancedPanel(); alert(advancedPanel.get('name')); // Undefined :( JSFiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/hWmnb/ I guess I can see that I can achieve this myself through some custom extend function that creates a deep copy of the prototype, but this seems like a common thing that people might want from Backbone inheritance, is there a standard way of doing it?
